WARNING! This is only for those who do not have mario kart wii. At the beginning of the race, there is a opening to the right(mirror mode left). It is rough terrain so you will go slow but that is the point. There will be two speed boosts and also item boxes. It will lead you to the cannon. The beginning of the shortcut will put you into 5th-8th so the item boxes will give you good items. The end of the shortcut then puts you into 1st-4th. Hope it helped! :D
