Shoving is a manuever when you press Y on your controller that will enable Lara to shove enemies in order to stagger them, or push them off ledges if they are are close enough.

In the second stage of the game when Lara encounters some wolves she will have access to a scramble maneuver when you press the B button on the controller that will enable her to quickly dodge out of the way when they lunge at her. Immediately after you have performed this scramble move you can press the B button on your controller again to initiate a roll to ensure you are out of the wolves proximity. You will find these moves particularly useful against the large melee-based enemies you will encounter.

Lara will have no problem finding ammunition as it is strewn throughout each stage of the game. To pick it up you simply have to press the X button on your controller. Remember also that you can always loot dead guards for any ammunition they may have.

The axe is a useful tool as Lara can use it to climb up craggy rock walls to reach ledges and pry open doors by mashing the X button on your controller. Later in the game the axe can be modified to open larger crates which hold necessary tools and secrets that you will need to possess to be able to move on in the game.

At the start of the game when Lara breaks free from captivity the only thing she will have access to is a torch. You will be able to relight it using any fire source in the area and it will come in useful for setting things aflame such as nets holding up salvage crates and barracades that block your path. If you need to extinguish the torch because you need to hide from enemies you simply have to hold down the B button on your controller.
