Attacking Forts

If you have a fully stocked galleon and four crew you may want to consider assaulting a fort as doing so can earn you vast amounts of gold. Forts are indicated by the giant skull clouds floating in the air that you can see for miles around in every direction. A successful assault on a fort will start by taking out the cannon towers on the side of the island you approach. Once you have done this leave at least one crew member on your ship to keep it afloat, provide covering fire, and one eye out for other pirates approaching the fort. Meanwhile the rest of the crew must survive wave upon wave of increasingly powerful skeletons and a final boss who when defeated will drop a key for the fort's treasure room.
