THE MISADVENTURES OF P.B. WINTERBOTTOM FAQ v1.2 02/10 Written by David Forrest, Email [email protected] Copyright 2010, David Forrest This may be not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. It may not be placed on any web site or otherwise distributed publicly without advance written permission. Use of this guide on any other web site or as a part of any public display is strictly prohibited, and a violation of copyright. This is a simple guide, and most, if not all, the puzzles can have multiple solutions. You can't die, so don't be afraid to. There is no time limit, but you have a limited amount of clones that is different for each level. This is also my first guide to GameFAQ's, and kudos to their handy help area for help in creating this, including the above copyright blurb. Makes things easier. *************** STORY *************** You are P.B. Winterbottom, notorious pie thief. Always pursuing the next delectable delicacy to gobble up. Unfortuantly, you do not see the problems you cause in your quest to sate your insatiable appetite for all things pie. After a particular pie heist and following escape, a magical, floating pie appears before you and flies off. You chase it across the city and to the outskirts to a large building you had never seen before. Chasing it into a portal, you find yourself flung back in time with some limited powers over your current state, allowing you to snack on pies before you snacked on them. *************** CONTROLS *************** Start - Pause/Menu Left Control Stick - Move Winterbottom A - Jump B - Not Used X - Smack Y - Delete Clone Left Trigger - Not Used Right Trigger - Record (Hold) Left Shoulder Button - Use Portals Right Shoulder Button - Not Used *************** DEVICES *************** See-saw - Just like the children's toy. Getting on one side will cause the occupant(s) of the other side to soar sky-high. Switch - Your basic switch with a lever that activates various mechanical objects. Smack it to activate it. Weighted Switch - Another type of switch that requires a body on top for it to be activated. Spring - A spring that will cause you to jump high, similar to the see-saw, but does not always require assistance. Some springs need a switch to be used to get it to work. Others require you land on top of it. Door/Wall/Gate - Various barriers that impede your progress. They all require some objective to be filled to open, usually a switch. Don't get caught in the door when it closes. Flame Jets - Found in the Bakery, a vent that spews out a pillar of flame. Will destroy you or a clone. Masher - Found in the Bakery, a device that mashes pies and will impede your progress like a door. A switch is needed to move them out of the way. Sprinkler - Found in the Bakery. Sprays water to douse local fires as long as it is working. Requires a switch to activate. ***************** TERMS ***************** Standing clone - Just that, a clone you tap RT to create. Used for placement on switches, as a stepping stone, or set up for a smack. Jumping clone - A clone that jumps straight up. gives more height than a standing clone. Does not move from his spot. If you jump straight up and come down and then stop recording, he won't poof away to restart, it'll be one continuous clone. Smacking clone - A clone using RT+X that will sit in place and smack. Usually on a switch or to move you to unreachable areas. Recording - Term to indicate a clone you use to do various actions, all of which require movement. ***************** WALKTHROUGH ***************** Stage 1 - Savory Salutations 1.1 - The Trouble Begins Read through the story and when you see the subtitles at the bottom saying "Twiddle the left stick to move this nuisance about.", you are ready to control this pie thief. Move him to the right and up the ramp where you will fall off and automatically start floating with your umbrella. Normally you need to hold the A button to do this. Grab all the pies you can/want. You can get the first achievement "Hot Pie Bottom" here by getting 10 pies. Unlike the rest of the levels, getting all the pies here is not needed to continue. 1.2 - Rooftop Mysteries You are stranded in the air on some huge beam held up by two chains. Move to the right quickly as they will eventually fall. When you find the large gap, jump towards it and another beam will swing into place. Continue right jumping over the gaps. When you see the watertower, jump and float to the right on to the shadow outline of the pie to finish the stage. 1.3 - Oddly Placed Trash Smack the various teetering furniture away with the X button to get to the pie. Whoops, that's a nasty little accident you caused. 1.4 - Pastry Last Don't worry about the pies you see to the left of your character, you can't get them. You need only worry about the one in the upper right. Jump on the platform to the right, with the couple gears. That's a weighted switch and will activate various things through the levels when something with weight is standing on it. This will lower the pie. Jump on the round, middle platform to be catapulted up into the air, and float to the pie. More calamity ensues. 1.5 - A New Beginning Head right to find a vision of the utmost beauty, the penultimate pie! One that floats...? After that pie! Jump and float. The scenes will change to show you're chasing this pie all over the city. Just keep moving right. When you find yourself on the edge of the cliff, jump to the right at the pie and hold the A button to float and move back left as the pie will move away from you. Land and chase after the pie which will zoom back over the abyss over the cliff. No turning back, leap of faith time. Follow the path you land on, up the stairs to a large portal with lots of you floating around. Jump for the pie, and into a clocktower portal you get sucked. 1.6 - A Recent Recollection Deja vu? Yes, it is the second level, this time you're more in the foreground, and you see yourself held by a robot claw. Ignore the switch to your right and run left. Past the weighted switch and hit the far left switch to release yourself. Run back to the right and jump onto the weighted switch. This swings the mysteriously appearing beam into place to save yourself from a doozy of a fall. Move right and when your past self grabs the pie, smack the switch nearby to grab him with the claw that appeared and grabbed there. This time we get to see a little more of what happens after you get caught. The claw with your past self then appears to your left, so grab his pie. He's not you, he's the past you. 1.7 - Switch Troubles The story now reveals you have powers to record yourself and release a duplicate to assist you in your pastry-pilfering perpetrations. You must press and hold to record, and release when you are done. When a clone reaches the end of the loop, it will disappear and reappear where you first recorded it and begin again. If it gets blocked by something, it will stop and be "broken". Even treadmills will cause it to stop its loop. Tapping RT while standing still will cause a clone to appear that will stand there. A standing clone if you will. It'll never loop by disappearing/reappearing. It'll forever stand there. You can jump on your head and even the hat to gain height where needed. Hitting RT+X will cause a clone to appear that will smack as fast as it can while standing still. This will cause you to be propelled away by it before you can even move away, so use caution. Useful for keeping a switch hit. For this particular dilemma, just tap RT and your clone will stand on the weighted switch for an eternity, or you get bored and grab the pie. So grab it, it's still warm. You complete the level, but the pie floats over to the now empty switch and mocks you as the fade out begins. 1.8 - The Power of the Stack Cue the floating pie, and begin the assault. The number of in the upper left will be how many clones you can have at one time. 0/3 means you have no clones out of a possible three. Run to the right. Stand under the ledge and tap RT. Jump on the clone's hat and up. Next, make another standing clone, jump on his hat, then hold the RT down to record, and then jump straight up and let yourself come back down and let go of RT. Jump on this jumping clone's head/hat and let it boost you up to the ledge to get the pie. And more mocking. 1.9 - The Power of a Smack Smacking a clone will knock it out of its loop. When it lands, it gets confused, and will look at the screen, and I believe wave, as it fades away. You can use it at this time to stand on like a normal standing clone, but timed, or smack it again. It won't disappear if it never finished its wave-off. Nothing like standing on a burning building. What you think is yourself, is but a clone. Run over to him and give him a good smack to grab those pies. They're cannon fodder, expendable. Don't get attached. Clones already in a level you start will not count against your total. Run to the right, create a standing clone and smack him into the pastry pit. One note for ease. When you create a standing clone for smacking, you don't need to move to smack him. Just tap the RT, and when you can, hit the X to smack him. Unless your're facing the wrong way, then you need to turn to smack them the way you want. 1.10 - A Friend in Need Back at the clocktower with all those pies you couldn't get last time. They're yours for the taking now... if you can get them, that is. Smack the switch and you find it will trigger the left spring to activate, causing anyone on it to be propeled upwards. Start recording, hit the switch and run to the right and land in the center of the platform. Stand there for a couple seconds, then you may stop recording. Run to the left and get ont he spring, so when your clone triggers it next, you'll fly upwards to the platform with the group of pies. Worry about hitting the switch up there soon as your clone is centered and waiting. Hitting the switch will cause him to grab the lone pie, and if you somehow missed a pie in the group, finish grabbing them. 1.11 - New Talents Start on the right side and place a standing clone on each of the two springboards for later use. In the middle is a see-saw. Physics aside, you don't need to jump on the see-saw to cause a clone to be flung upwards. Just the act of causing their side to go up will fling them high. In the middle, put a clone on the left side of the see-saw, and walk on to the right side. It'll grab the two pies on the left and fling you up for the pies on the right. Steer to the right and land on the platform. Get a clone on the edge and smack him over the gap to grab the pies in midair. Then hit the switch to the right to cause the first two clones to grab the lines of pies over the springs. Head left and grab the pies near ground level. Create a smacking clone to hit the switch and use the spring to launch straight up for more pies, and land on the right side of another see-saw. Create a standing clone on the left, and move to the right. As you fly up grabbing the pie, float to the right to land on the upmost platform with more pies. Run right getting all the ground pies, then stand in the middle of the 2 arcs of pies and smack a clone to grab each arc. The Great Pie arises and you get teleported out. ACHIEVEMENT EARNED: Hungry Bottom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 2 - The Ticking Tarts 2.1 - Baked to the Future You are now in the clocktower you broke during the first levels. Citizens are having problems because the tower is not showing the right time. In this stage, you must press the weighted switch to activate the pies for gathering. Starting on the right side, pick one of the two pies there to start on. Start recording and run to the other pie on the same side of the screen and stop recording. Hit the switch, and get the pies on the opposite side while your clone gathers the first two. You will then see the little elevator platform that you came in on appear on the right. You must enter these when you finish to continue. 2.2 - Buffet Runner Start recording on the lone pie on the right. Run left and jump the platform, but land right next to it. Stop recording, let your clone go through his loop once. When he makes the jump, jump on the weighted switch, and wait on the left side facing left. When your clone jumps, smack him into the arc of other pies. 2.3 - Busted Cretin Jump on the weighted switch in the middle. Right away, create a standing clone and smack him left, then the same on the right. You have enough time before the switch deactivates. 2.4 - A Sprinkle in Time Record a clone from the pie on the right and run and jump on the right side of the see-saw, regardless if it is up or down. Then jump on to the switch and stop recording. Get on the left side of the see-saw and wait for your clone to hit the switch, restart his loop grabbing the pie and runs over and propels you up into the last pie. 2.5 - The Pie and the Pendulum Create a standing clone on the right side of the bottom see-saw and use him to get to the upper one. Create a clone on the left side of this. Jump back down and create a third (you can only have two, so it will remove the oldest one, which is the first one) clone on the left side of the bottom see-saw. Jump on the switch, run right and jump on the right side of the see-saw to send your clone up as you continue running right to grab the bottom two pies. Your clones will grab the three pies up above. 2.6 - Me Myself and Pie Record a clone to start on the far right side of the bottom. Running from that farmost pie, head left and jump onto the right side of the see-saw and then on to the switch. Get on the left side of the see-saw, and let your clone rocket you up to the above platform where you should create a standing clone. Wait until the bottom clone activates the switch, and smack the clone right to the pie way out in midair before dropping down to grab the pie right below the small platform. 2.7 - Numerican Pie Now it gets a little bit trickier. Each pie has a number on it and must be gotten in order starting at 1. Hitting the weighted switch activates the first, and then the second activates. There is an overall timer on the switch, as well on each pie. If you don't get the first pie soon enough, it'll cause the switch to deactivate before the switch itself has run out of time. This is real easy. Create a smacking clone on the first pie facing right. Let him knock you on to the platform just to the right. Create a standing clone on the edge and jump back down on the other side of the first clone. Hit the switch and run right. The first two pies will be gotten by the clones. The first clone knocks you up, then smack the standing clone to the left to get the last two pies. 2.8 - Catcher in the Pies Poor Percy. First, get up on the ledge on the left with the weighted switch. Make a smacking clone facing right over the gap and it'll send you over. Create a smacking clone there facing left over the gap and after you sends you back, float past the first clone. Jump on the switch, then run over to the first clone and let him home run you over to the other clone grabbing the pies as you go. The second one will send you back, and so forth. If you find you get missed and land on them or past them, just run back and get smacked back. You can also create a standing clone on the edge of the left side, hit the switch, run over and smack him across the gap. Create another standing clone, and do the same, and then a third to grab the last of the pies. Simpler, but not as fun as being used as a tennis ball. 2.9 - Citizen Clone Now it starts making you use your head. You will see two number 3's. One is the pie, the other seems to be a vertical, rectangular object. This object is a wall that will appear when the pie #3 is taken. A little forethought is needed. Record a clone starting below pie #1. Jump up to it and down on to #4 and run over to #3. Stop there. Jump back down to the bottom and hit the weighted switch and run over and stand at #2 so that you will grab it as soon as #1 is gotten. Try and time it near when your clone is about to restart his loop. Run over to #5 and wait. Your clone will attempt a grab at #4 before heading over to grab #3 which causes the wall to appear. But ever so sneaky, your clone poofs and restarts his loop past the wall to grab #4. 2.10 - The Final Countdown The final count...er, level. You're going to notice a platform going up and down on the left side, leading up to a small platform up above, which then leads to an arc of pies. The first three pies are along the track of this platform, while #4-#8 are in midair, followed by #9-#12 in a half arc to the right of the weighted switch. A word of caution, do not rely on the platform as it will drop off screen when the switch is activated. So, how to go about this. Well, your clones are not bound by physics for the most part. They will follow the loop to the best of their abilities, and while it won't allow them to pass walls or fire, it will allow them to float or fly in midair. Activate the switch and stand there in front of it. When you see the first pie start blinking, start recording, jump straight up let yourself fall on the switch (ground, because it is currently already active) and run over and jump on to where the platform will be coming back. Stand so you would grab the pies and then jump off at the end and onto the right side of the platform. Give it a couple seconds to make sure you have time to hit the clone. Stop recording and your clone will activate the switch, run over to the platform tracks, and sail up grabbing the pies. When he is solidly on the platform edge, smack him over to grab the arc of pies and quickly jump down. Run to the start of the third arc of pies, create a standing clone and hit him into them to finish the stage. Congratulations, you've reset the clock, and the Almighty Pie makes a showing outside the tower. ACHIEVEMENT EARNED: Ticking Bottom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 3 - Dangerously Delicious! 3.1 - Smoke on the Horizon This is another fine mess you've gotten us into, Mr. Winterbottom. Time for new shenanigans. This time only your clones can get the pies. That's right. You won't be able to taste these delicious delicacies yourself. Your clones are highly expendable as always, so never shy at throwing them into the fire. Start with creating a standing clone above the line of pies on the right side. Go back and hit the switch to drop him onto them and into the fire. Instant disposal. Create another clone on top of the pie near the switch. Go up a few crates and create another clone on the pie there, then smack him over to the pie in midair. Easy enough. The screen will fade out and the next stage begins. 3.2 - Out of the Baking Tin... This is tricky. The left-most weighted switch causes the middle "wall" thing to rise up out of the way of the platforms. I assume they're the pie filling tubes. They're walls here for all intents and purposes. The middle switch activates the right wall, and the right switch will trigger the left wall. You must be quick here. Use the spring on the left side of the screen to bounce up to a platform as it appears. Create a standing clone and jump down and run to the right switch and jump on it to let your clone pass under the first wall. Don't let go too soon, or it'll crush your clone and cause it to disappear. Next run to the left switch, and then the middle switch as needed to get your clone through. Once he's past the right wall, run to the switch on the right side and hit it to put out the flames temporarily. 3.3 - Delicious Conundrum Here you've got three masher up above that changes depending on the position of the switch on the bottom level. You must stand on it to change the mashers, then get off to let them go back to their default position. The swith on the right side of the bottom causes the spring on the left side to activate. Create a standing clone on the spring, run over and hit the switch, then run to the weighted switch and jump on it. Do not let the masher crush your clone or your clone to touch the side of the masher (which is on fire). Time it right and your clone will make it to the pie safely. Then it gets worse, a normal pie appears just above the blue one. Your clone could touch it, but when on a treadmill, clones will stop whatever loop they have and stand there. So you must get this pie yourself. Create a clone to hit the right switch, then run over and jump on the weighted switch. Leave him there for about a second, get off for another second or two, then jump back on. Go stand on the spring and wait for it to be activated, then move yourself around to avoid the mashers while your clone gets you through. Change the timing as needed if your clone isn't on or off the switch long enough. 3.4 - A Clone in the Dark Well, how to get the pies in that raging inferno that man or clone would not survive? Start with a standing clone on the weighted switch on the left. This will put out the fire. Now you need to create another clone to get the pies, but how to do this with a clone already active? You can record a clone, and even if the maximum number of clones is already reached, the oldest one will not disappear until you let go of the record button. So record yourself now of jumping on the spring and hitting the switch, making sure you hit all the pies. When you land, run over to the weighted switch and jump on it and stop recording. 3.5 - Counting Blue Cobblers Now they bring clone-only, numbered pies into the mix. And timed as well. You must grab the pies quickly or have to start over. Record a clone grabbing the first two pies on the left, followed by the pies on the right side. Run back to where pie #3 was and wait a second before stopping the recording. When your clone has grabbed the first four pies and has stopped at the spot of pie #3, smack him towards pie #5. 3.6 - Smackdraft You have pies 1, 3 and 5 on the left, and 2, 4 and 6 on the right. Two flame pillar producing vents will cause a minor hiccup. You must quickly grab the pies to avoid restarting, while not sending them into the flames and wasting time. Just stand in the middle and create standing clones and smack them over towards each side as needed, timing to avoid the fire. 3.7 - Furnace Envy Create a jumping clone just below the left side of the upper middle platform, above the fire. Jump up and get on the weighted switch and create a standing clone. Jump back down to where the first clone was and start recording. Stand in place for a second or two then jump up. Wait another two seconds before moving to pie #1 and run down the line of pies to #10. Keep recording and run back to where you jumped and stop recording. Your clone will appear so leap onto its hat and when it jumps, get on the platform and onto the switch. You will keep the fire out as your clone runs and grabs all the pies. 3.8 - Digested Development Jump over the fire pit to pie #1. Record as you start there, grab pie #2 then jump back across the pit to the platform and up against the ledge you can't reach yet and wait a second or two. Stop recording, and when your clone gets here, jump up and go to pie #3. Start recording on it and then run down two steps to where you had to get a boost to get up and stand on the edge and wait until your clone has grabbed the first two pies. Stop recording and your new clone will appear grabbing #3 and run down to the ledge. Smack him to pie #4. 3.9 - Flame on, Sweet Prince This one is pretty confusing. Start by recording yourself jumping on the left side of the see-saw, wait a second, then run to the right side (make sure the see-saw gets pushed down on that side) and smack the air. Stop recording, then start a new recording right away while staying on the right side, getting in line with the pies. If you don't come down and get smacked across to pie #4, then alter your timing of the first clone. When you grab #4, stop recording. Like with the clocktower and the platform that dropped away, your clone will fly into the air and back down grabbing the first three pies and then fling himself over to pie #4 where he poofs and starts the loop again. While he's busy with those, go to pie #5 and record yourself on it and jump up to #6 and #7 and keep recording till your current clone is about to grab #4. There is about .5-1.0 second delay before your new clone appears, so just as the clone grabs pie #4, stop recording and let your other clone finish it up. 3.10 - Douse It Good You start on a weighted switch keeping the fire below you from raging. Create a standing clone. Move to the right edge, and record yourself jumping over and grabbing the pies, float all the way down, then grab #5 through #8. Then stop recording and run into the fire that is back now that your clone has left the switch. You want to die where you will then start back on the switch, but need the time before your clone gets to the fire. Once he's past the blackened materials on the ground, move to the left side of the platform and when your clone grabs #8, then create a standing clone and smack him over to 9, where he will hit the wall grabbing #10, and bounce back and down to #11. The Great Pie appears and opens a cabinet full of pies that you can grab. By floating down, you can grab them all, or use a standing clone to reach high pies you've missed. ACHIEVEMENT EARNED - Burnt Bottom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 4 - Spelunking for Sweets 4.1 - Pie-rates of Winterpants Well, new game play once again. This time there are special portals you can only record from. Using the LB button, it'll start a recording, and you have a timer before it stops, and you get put back at the portal. When you are on the portal, any recordings you have, will show as gray silhouettes performing their actions so you can see where they are going. Pies can be gotten by yourself once again, or a clone. The RT will not be used for this section. You start at the portal. Begin a recording and run to the right and hit the switch. Feel free to end the recording early, then begin recording again. This time stand on the fall away platform that activates with the switch, and the waters recede below, and you can chase the Pie. 4.2 - Bottom-sicles Another new technique here. The water will cause you to turn into a Winterbottom popsicle. You can use these to stand on safely. Start recording and jump in the middle of the water just to your right and create a platform. You can't make it in one jump. Hold it for a couple seconds before stopping. Create another recording and allow the first to get a couple seconds ahead and use it to get to the next platform, then jump somewhere around the middle or 3/4 the way across the next pool of water. Create a third clone to jump on to the second, give it a second for your future self, then jump straight up. If you want, you can jump a second time. A hint: you can jump on a clone's head and it will carry you around where it goes, unless you get knocked off by something or another clone interferes. Fourth clone, jump across to the and get on the hat of the last Winterbottom and jump off to the upper platform. Run right and jump down and float to about halfway between the wall outcropping and the light and land in the water. Make sure you give your future selves some time to stand. Create a second Winterbottom stepping stone. Last recording and you can grab the pies. 4.3 - Flooded Sweets Another trick, instead of stopping a bad recording and then deleting it, hit Y while recording and it will cancel it. First clone, start on the left side of the portal facing the first arc of pies. Start recording and smack the, currently, empty air, then run over to the ledge on the right and stand under it for a second. Run back to the switch in the middle and hit it and keep on running to the left and jump and stay on the weighted switch until time runs out. Second clone, start in the middle of the portal, and you will be smacked through the pies right off. Jump on to the hat of the first clone and up to the second step, then left across and past the door the first clone opened with the middle switch. Run through grabbing the pies and then down the pit on the far left, which is now safe, once again because of your first clone. 4.4 - Sittin' on the Clock in the Bay First clone should face right and smack the air, then stand there for the rest of the time. Second clone will be hit over to the switch grabbing the pies on his merry way. Run back and hit the first clone to the left, and he should land on the drop away platform there after grabbing the pies. Run back to the switch on the right, hit it and the first clone will drop down grabbing the last pies. 4.5 - The Winterbottom Tango First clone, run to underneath the ledge, pause a second, then jump straight up. Run over to the first spring under the first line of pies. Second clone, jump on top of the first clone's head and up to the platform when he jumps. Get on the last step up, face left and smack the air. Grab the pies then hit the switch. Third clone, jump on top of the first clone's head, jump up the stairs and stand on the edge of the last one and allow yourself to be hit over to the weighted switch on the left which you will then stand on. After a couple of seconds, jump off. Fourth clone, run right and up against the barrier. When the switch is hit, jump on the middle spring and wait till you get shot up to grab the pies before you stop recording. Fifth clone, same as the fourth, except you run to the last spring and wait. 4.6 - Evil Red Now it gets mean. Touching your clones will kill you. Avoid at all costs. You can safely jump on top of them though. Use this to your advantage. And everytime you get a pie, the recording stops, and the portal will usually move to another location, which will be where you start the next recording. First clone starts on the left. Run onto the drop away platform just to the right for a second, then finish running right and grab the pie. Second clone will start on the right side. Run straight for the switch and hit it when your clone pauses on the platform to freeze him in the water and safely grab the pie. 4.7 - Pie Own Worst Enemy It can become a mess here. First clone starts in the lower left corner. Run right to the bottom right pie. Second clone starts in the lower right corner. Run left, jump your clone and grab the upper left pie. Third clone starts in the upper left corner. Run right, jump off the ledge and onto the second clone's head and then to the upper right pie. Or just jump over him, either way. Fourth clone starts on the platform at the top in the middle. You'll look like your boxed in, but as soon as you start recording, the barriers on both side open. Fall down and grab the middle pie avoiding your evil clones. 4.8 - Drop Dead Red I'll not state where you start, you can easily see it. First clone, run right, jump to the platform with the switch and hit it. Then grab the pie. Second clone, run left jumping over the first clone and land on the drop away platform. When you hit the switch, hit LB again. This will cause the gate blocking the second pie to stay down. Hitting the Y to cancel will cause it to go back up. But there is no clone over there holding it, strange. Then using the first clone, jump up and land on the right side of the see-saw. Give yourself a couple seconds to make sure you'd come down, then grab the pie in the lower right. Third clone, using either clone, get on the left side of the see-saw, and allow the second clone to hit you up and you can float over to grab the last pie. 4.9 - The Quick and the Red Now it's similar to the first few levels of this stage, where you have to grab all the pies in a single recording, but using red clones. A nightmare! And, you must allow the timer to time out before the portal moves. Hitting LB to stop is the same as the Y button here. This one is confusing, as there are multiple platforms. You'll start in the middle of the upper platform. Run right, jump the first gap grabbing the midair pie and fall down the right side. Then quickly grab the next two pies on the ground and jump up and try to grab all the pies on that side. When time runs out, the portal moves to the upper left corner. Grab the three remaining pies on the upper middle platform, then match the first clone and grab what you can of the pies on the left side. You then move to the lower right. Using the steps, get up a few ledges and onto the middle, just below the uppermost middle platform. Grab those pies before dropping down and grabbing what you can. The next portal starts two platforms below the first portal. Grab the pies that won't get grabbed, and you can complete this level without anymore clones. 4.10 - The Great Escape Clones are back to normal! No more killer clones! You start boxed in, but like others before, as soon as you start recording, the door will open. Run to the little platform on the right and jump on its left side and stand there. Wait a few seconds then stop recording. The next clone, jump on his head, then to the platform above the portal. Wait a second and jump. You can even jump a second time, but end the recording early. On your third clone, use the first two clones to jump over to the tall ledge on the right. The second clone will get you over if you jump off it at the height of its jump. Drop to the platform in the middle of the water and you'll see it shake much like the beams in the very first stage. Yes, you can't linger long. Soon as you hit the platform run and jump to the second floating to the right side. Stand there until the platform drops away and you become an ice cube. End the recording. The next ledge is too high and you must use this clone to get up. The easiest way to get up there though, is to get on the last clone's head, and let him move you along while you stand there. Jump on to the ledge up above when you can. Jump into the lake, but not as far as you can, you must allow your next self to be able to land squarely on your icecube self. Now it's a race against the falling platforms. Float when you can, since the platforms won't drop unless you land on them. There are two springs with activator switches next to them along the way. Best to land as close as possible and get on the spring and hit the switch as quickly as possible. Run and jump and the third switch is your salvation, causing the water to begin flowing again. A robot claw will come down, pick you up and deposit you in a park where the water is gushing up out of. You will see the Great Pie, and above it a bridge with a group of pies for the taking. ACHIEVEMENT EARNED - Soggy Bottom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 5 - Circular Conclusions Another new game-play mechanic. This time you can only grab pies while you are lit by a spotlight, which is usually activated by a switch. You have to get in the spotlight to have to appear on you, then you can grab pies. Clones must also get touched by the light, but you can pass it to each other. The circle in each level is where the spotlight will appear when activated. 5.1 - Trip with a Spoon Get a clone going between the pie with the spotlight start, and the next one over next to the weighted switch. Hit the switch and wait for your clone to give you some light before grabbing the last two. 5.2 - Stage Lights Record a clone running from the pie in the spotlight, and jump on to the first step and get on the right edge. Hit the switch when your clone is about to loop, and run down to meet him. Smack him over to the last pie. 5.3 - Stage of Enlightenment Create a smacking clone just to the left of the spotlight, but close enough to have it touch him. Jump on the right side of the switch and run over to the clone to be hit up to the first pie. As soon as you land, create a standing clone and hit him to the last pie. You can just barely make it. 5.4 - Spotlit Sweets Record a clone to jump on the switch, run left to jump on the right side of the see-saw, but close to the middle. Then run right and grab the three pies on the floor. Stand on the left side of the see-saw near the middle. The clone will give you a spotlight and hit you up to grab the four pies in the air. 5.5 - Aromatic Acrobatics Create a smacking clone on the switch on the left. Then use the right spring, to get on the right-hand ledge. Create a standing clone there. Activate the spotlight and jump on the left spring to grab the light and pie and land on the right spring. On the ledge, smack your clone left to grab the midair pies and the one on the small ledge on the left as you grab the pie on your current ledge. 5.6 - Pies and Prejudice One way I found that works, but gives you little time and can be tricky. Make three standing clones on top of each other where the three pies going straight up in the middle are. Hit the switch and grab the spotlight and jump and smack the middle one right landing on the first clone's head. Then whip around and hit the third one left. 5.7 - Curtain Call You won't be able to get back up to the spotlight switch, so you end up having to restart the scene if you mess up. When you hit the switch, a trapdoor opens up in the middle of the ledge just below you. You'll want to use this to land right on the spotlight and first pie. Start recording as you hit the switch, fall through the new hole, and run right grabbing the bottom pies. A second, clone standing on the second ledge up on the right side will finish this puzzle. Wait on the first ledge and the first clone will run along and give you some light. Jump up to the second which gives the second clone light as well and smack him over to the last pie on the right. 5.8 - P.B. Clone Home This gets interesting. Blue spotlights can only be gotten by clones, but you don't have to hit a switch to activate these. Second, there are some already created clones you can pass the light on to, and they will keep it indefinitly acting as other spotlights allowing you to move along without restarting from the start for the spotlight. Create a standing clone and smack him over the fire. Record a clone running right, jump the fire grabbing the pies, then on to the see-saw's right side. The spotlight will pass to the three clones behind a wall there, and you can propel the clone up to grab the pies nearby. You can then start on the ledge just above those three clones from this point on. Create a standing clone, and when the fire goes out, smack him over to the pies. Then jump over to him, and smack him to grab the last few pies on the left and onto the platform. This will pass the spotlight onto the clone that is hitting the switch to create the flame jets, and you can start on the ledge just above him now. Remember, the treadmill will cause a clone to forget his loop and stand there. Hitting the far left will destroy you or a clone, so don't go too far. Record a clone and jump right and onto the platform, then up and jump on the treadmill. Let go, and let the clone follow his path and grab the first line of pies along the treadmill. Then do the same again, but this time, smack him to grab the arc of pies just above it. A wall further up will open, allowing you into an area filled with more clones. You will need to create a clone on the treadmill and use his head to get up there. You will hit a spotlight just beyond where the wall was and can pass it on to the lines of smacking clones lined up vertically. They will smack you up to get the pies in between them, but if you miss one, use your float to gain control and float down to it. When these pies are all gotten, a trap door at the top of the roof will open, so get smacked into this and it will close. Now there's a problem. All clones are out to get you. But don't worry, they can't kill you here. All they can do is smack you. They will jump when you jump if they are on the ground, and will chase you. They will also smack each other if they come into contact, but will always go after you. Any new clones created will act the same way for these last few levels. Use these clones to smack you up the ledges, your goal being the Great Pie. On the last ledge, create a clone facing left, and it will hit you over to the Pie, where you can then float on to the top of. It will then carry you off. 5.9 - The Pie and the Clone What to do. You have to hit the switch, to open the door. But it doesn't stay open long enough. First, get right of the first ledge. Face left, create a clone and he'll smack you up to the first ledge. Get on the right side of it, face left and create another clone who'll smack you against the wall, to bounce off and land on the second ledge. A third clone will hit you over to the ledge. Face left, create another clone and he'll hit you over the small wall and back into the area with the switch. Run to the switch, and you'll see the clone stays in the same place you are, even when out of range, if possible. Hit the switch, run right and the clone will follow. When the door closes, get the clone to the switch, and jump and he will mimic you, landing on the switch activating the spotlight. He must stay on there, so don't jump or move too far right. Run through the spotlight and grab the pie in the lower left. 5.10 - Just Desserts This is it, the final showdown. The great pie-thief vs. the Great Pie. There are five switches to be used to activate five spotlights to cook the pie. The switch right there will open a door on the left side. Face left and create a clone who will hit you and the switch, and knock you on to the upper ledge. He will follow below and land in the room, and will be trapped with the switch for the first light. Run to the pit, either side, and create a clone. He'll smack you over it, and fall into it trying to get to you. He can't get out, but any clones with him can if they use his head. The pie is heating up as more spotlights turn on. Use the switch on the lower-right side to get on to the middle platform, and from there to the far left platform above the first clone's head. It has a little notch that any clone there, can't escape unless you jump. Create a clone facing right, and it will hit you over to the middle platform, where it will get stuck trying to follow you. A second clone will hit you up to the upper right ledge. Now you have to time this right. Place yourself where you can land on the switch with a jump, but close enoguh to hit the switch. Hit the switch which will cause a platform to extend in front of the third clone. Jump and you and the fourth clone will land on the switches while the third clone will escape his confinement landing on the platform you activated. A second jump will cause it to leap the gap, and you and all the clones will land on the switches, causing the Great Pie to explode. You'll then find yourself floating down. Just let yourself drift, you can move if you want, but there's no need. You'll see dozens of clones all feasting on the remains of the Great Pie. When you land, you'll find that when you move around, you'll be scarfing on pie like that other clones down there. Eat up! Move left and right and you'll slow down to a stop slowly, where it'll fade out. A job well done... so to speak. ACHIEVEMENT EARNED - Stuffed Bottom THE END *************** BONUS LEVELS *************** Here are the bonus shorts located on the bottom of the theatre. If I can't myself find a way to do both challenges at once, then the way I got each challenge done will be directly under the appropriate header. If there's only one under both, I was able to secure both records at the same time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Purloined Pastries 1 - High-Falutin' Heist Time Challenge: 00:50:00 Create a standing clone right away and smack him around the bottom of the level to grab the pies. To the right twice, then against the right wall, then back to the far left which should have all the pies under the lower ledge gone, but a few under the right ledge. Create a standing clone, then on top of him create a standing clone to smack to the right and you should be able to reach all the pies under the higher ledge. Then a couple jumping clones to get up on the right ledge. Make a standing clone and smack him at the right wall, run to the wall and make a standing clone to smack to the left, then one more at the edge again and smack it left as well. Jump and float across the pit and use standing clones to smack over to the rest of the pies in the middle and above the left ledge you are on now. Smack them against the walls to get the ones directly over it. Recording Challenge: 7 Simple enough, 2 or 3 jumping clones underneath the ledges to enable you to get up there and grab the higher pies. You can grab all the top pies from the ledges themselves. 2 - Self-Made Man Time Challenge: 00:25:00 Recording Challenge: 4 Easy to get both at once. Create a standing clone and smack him over the middle for the pies there. Grab the two pies to your left, back up a bit and make a smacking clone facing the wall and he'll hit you against it and up on to the ledge above. Another smacking clone to hit you over the middle. You can grab that pie there over the small space on the right without falling, then jump up and grab the two pies, back up a small bit, and one last smacking clone to hit you for that third pie over the last two and over to the last platform. I got 18 seconds with this and of course the four clones. 3 - Baker's Dozen Time Challenge: 00:20:00 Nothing fancy here. Use a clone on one side of the see-saws and use the other to get the pies above each one. Then get a second clone clone going on one of the outer ones and use his hat to get up to the middle ledge. Recording Challenge: 2 Record one clone to run and jump on one side of each see-saw. Using float, you can grab all the pies over each one with one jump. Using a standing clone on the edge of one of the outer see-saws, climb on his head and let the recording push you both into the air, and then jump off the clones head on to the ledge in the middle for the rest of the pies. 4 - Gotta Snatch 'em All Time Challenge: 00:15:00 Recording Challenge: 2 Not hard to get both at once, though maybe a little practice to get at the same time. Create a smacking clone on the right spring to hit the switch which activates another spring on the left side. Create a standing clone on the left side of the middle spring and grab the pies in your arc over. Land on the spring and grab the last pies, come down and hit the switch to make your first clone grab the last pies. 5 - Metropielis Time Challenge: 00:25:00 Recording Challenge: 2 Create a smacking clone on either switch and let it hit you over to one side. Using the spring to get up high and grab the pies on the ledges in midair, then float back to the center platform with the switches and repeat for the other side. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clockwork Capers 1 - Time and Reason Time Challenge: 00:25:00 Recording Challenge: 7 Create a stack of standing clones up through the line of pies on the left and get as close to the top, before recording a clone to float over to the pies on the right and drop him down the middle. You can meet both requirements this way. 2 - A Clockwork Pastry Time Challenge: 00:25:00 Create a standing clone on each side of each see-saw. Hit the switch then jump on to the hats of one of the ones on the nearby see-saw to grab the pies up top, and then do the same on the right side. The middle see-saw can be used instead for the right ones. Recording Challenge: 4 I used two standing clones on each side of the left and right see-saw. Time it right to hit the switch and get on the closest clone's head to get the upper pies on the left, float and drop down to grab the left stack of pies over the middle see-saw, then hitch a ride on either clone on the right see-saw to do the same on the right side. 3 - Cream of the Clock Time Challenge: 00:30:00 Recording Challenge: 6 Create a smacking clone where you start, then when you get hit over, land in the right pit. Create a jumping clone there to grab the pies and use him to get up on the right most pillar and create another smacking clone facing in. Make another jumping clone in the left pit and finally, hit the switch, create a jumping clone to hit it when it deactivates and get out. When it hits the switch, use the smacking clones to get the pies in midair and float to gain control again and grab any remaining pies. 4 - The Clock Strikes Savory Time Challenge: 00:20:00 Recording Challenge: 4 Create a smacking clone where you start, and another on the opposite ledge and then one on the bottom in a way to hit you into the pies leading up to the ledges. Hit the switch and just run into either bottom clone, to get hit up to the second and out towards the middle grabbing the pies on that side. Then repeat on the other side. 5 - A Midnight Snack Time Challenge: 00:20:00 Recording Challenge: 1 Record a clone to jump on to the first spring on either side of the switch and bounce over collecting the pies on the same side. Hit the switch and grab the pies on the other side. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Baked Blue Follies 1 - Baked in the Tin Time Challenge: 00:13:00 Create a standing clone on the see-saw to your left right away. Jump over and make another standing clone on the right side of the right see-saw and then another on the switch to activate the water. Then start recording and grab the arc of pies and land on the left side of the right see-saw to send the second clone into the spring above and over to the pie, causing the first clone to grab any missing pies above it. Recording Challenge: 3 Get a standing clone on the switch first. Start recording and grab the midair pies there while landing on the left side of the right see-saw to grab that one pie, then walk over to the right side of the see-saw. Stop recording and wait on the left off of the see-saw. When your clone walks on to the right side, time it to jump on the left side and send him into the spring and over to the pies there. Use a last clone to grab any remaining pies. 2 - The Blue Brothers Time Challenge: 00:10:00 Recording Challenge: 1 Create a smacking clone where you start who'll send you to the switch. Hit it to send the clone up to you grabbing the pies on the way. Hit him to the left and onto the next spring, then hit the switch which will send him over to the last spring. Don't hit it too early, or he'll miss the pies. He'll slide a bit when he lands which should put him right where he needs to be when you hit the switch a last time for the completion. 3 - Pie Blue Heaven Time Challenge: 00:12:00 Recording Challenge: 1 Create a standing clone and smack him to the right. He'll hit the bottom right spring, up to the upper right one, then to the left one and back up to you. This time smack him against the wall to the left to grab that pie there and he'll bounce to the last remaining pies over in midair and over the middle spring. Don't move from the switch. 4 - The Blue Pan Group Time Challenge: 00:23:00 Recording Challenge: 5 Create a standing clone and smack him right. Run after him and smack him again up to the first ledge there on the right. Create a smacking clone to get you up to the ledge with him. Smack him left where he'll land on the middle hanging platform. A smacking clone will send you over to him where you smack him to the right followed by another smacking clone to get you over to him again. Repeate to the left and you'll be on top of the middle platform. One last smack to the left will get the remaining pies. 5 - Blue's Chews Time Challenge: 00:25:00 Recording Challenge: 1 This will require you to die once. Record a clone and jump off the right side and grab the pies straight down and stop recording. Jump into the fire and wait at the top there. When your clone reappears, smack him left and jump down after him. Smack him around to grab the pies on the bottom. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Puzzling Portal Pies 1 - Water Whirled - Credit to rastansaga for his video in helping me Time Challenge: 01:15:00 Recording Challenge: 7 Following this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT3-5XOCbdo. Can be hard to see, so will explain. First clone runs forward and smacks just after grabbing the first set of pies there and then runs forward and smacks just after the divider at the top. Next clone will run forward, get smacked by the first, and about halfway up, you'll want to smack in midair, then continue to the right and meet up with the first clone to get smacked and again, smack halfway up. Next clone will get smacked along with the other and then smacked in midair bouncing off the divider. Float around to get all the pies. Final clone will want to avoid the initial smack but be quick and keep up for the second smack, followed by the midair smack to get the last pies. 2 - Steamed Sweetmeats Time Challenge: 01:10:00 Recording Challenge: 5 Begin by jumping over the water and floating to the pies there on the right and stop recording. Using the first clone, you can jump on its head, and off on to the ledge with the switch. Hit and grab any pies you can. Your next clone will get on the spring to the left and wait. When you get flung up, run to the right of the upper left ledge you land on, and smack towards the right, then grab the pies there and drop down the ledges grabbing all the pies there. Don't worry about the pies on the right over the rocky ledge. Your last clone will go with the third one and use the spring, run to the right of the ledge where he'll be smacked over to the uppermost ledge, grab the pies, then drop off the right side and grab the last six pies there. 3 - Damp and Delicious Time Challenge: 02:20:00 Recording Challenge: 8 This one is hard. First run right and jump on the switch. Give it a second or two, then jump off grabbing the pies to the right and then back on the switch for another second or two. It's easiest on the next clones to jump on to the head of the first one and let it carry you since you need the boost for the jump anyway, and jump past the walls when he hits the switch. Grab the pies and wait on the right side until the first leaves the switch. Next clones just work your way through and use them to jump up the ledges, leaving them on the switches long enough to get through the door at the top. You can also use the first clone to jump in the middle of the first batch of pies, and on your final clone after you got the pie on the far right, use it to grab the last of the pies. 4 - Underground Desserts Time Challenge: 01:10:00 Recording Challenge: 4 First clone, grab as many pies on the way down on the right side, but try to hurry and get on the switch and hold it until the door is fully opened. You can also give a jump after having just landed on the switch too for the future clone. Second clone will grab the rest of the pies in midair while floating to give the first clone time to open the door and use this clone to get the two in the alcove on the left. Third clone will go with the first to the right, and use his jump to get to the upper ledge where you can reach the last two pies. 5 - Den of Delicacies Time Challenge: 03:30:00 Recording Challenge: 15 Hard to work this, lots of ways to go, but pretty easy to hit the records. First clone should run right jumping the pit, pause a couple seconds to allow future clones to jump up, then run back left and down the pit grabbing the pies. At the very bottom, head right and jump up the ledges till you get to the top of the first hill there grabbing the pie on the top and stop. Next clone will go right with the first, jump up to the right and run all the way it can and pause a couple seconds. Next clone follow the second, and use its head to jump up on to the small step on the right, pause a second, then drop down to the right and grab the pies along the way and down the ledges up near the top one which will be gotten by the first clone. Another clone to follow these, using the head to get up into that little alcove and grab the few pies there. Next clone, follow the first, jump up and to the left this time, down the first pit and to the right and stop when you get to the central shaft. Next clone will jump up to the left, jump the pit and continue left, down the left most pit and grab the pies at the bottom while heading right. Stop at the center shaft. Last leg, drop down the first shaft you've been jumping before. Use float to get to the first branch to the right there, jump for the first pie above you, pause under the second and pause again for the third. Last clone will follow this one, using it's head to grab the two pies it paused under. You should be able to do this in eight to ten clones and over a minute to spare. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Backstage Banditry - At this point, I can give directions, but you may need to work out the subtle movements that would be hard and lengthy to write to avoid your clones. It's all about practice and learning where to move and pause to let your future clones avoid you. 1 - Confectionery Crisis Time Challenge: 00:26:00 Recording Challenge: 4 1. Pause a second, jump over to the lower ledge on the right and pause again. Then go grab the pie. 2. Run straight right and grab the pie. 3. Run left, jump your second clone, drop down and grab the pie. 4. Run right, jump up the ledges, if your clone is near, wait, then jump over and grab the pie. 2 - Lord of the Pies Time Challenge: 00:30:00 Recording Challenge: 5 1. Run right, hit the switch and pause a second before running over and jumping on the spring and hitting the switch to grab the pie. 2. Run right, jump and float over to the third step and grab the pie. 3. Run and jump to the right. You should be able to get the pie before your second clone gets near. 4. Run, jump and float to the right ahead of the other clone right behind you. Use the last clone's head as a stepping stone to avoid it and grab the pie. 5. This is why you paused with the first clone. Run against the door until he opens it and jump on the spring and activate it to grab the pie ahead of it. 3 - A Hazardous Feast Time Challenge: 00:50:00 Recording Challenge: 7 1. Run left and jump as soon as it starts sloping down. Land on the first tiny step in midair there and walk right to drop down and go grab the pie. 2. Run right, up the ledges and up to the pie. 3. Climb the ledges on the left avoiding the first clone, but with the jump, he's easy to avoid after you pass the step he lands on. 4. Climb to the right ahead of the second clone. It's easy to get to the center of the top platform as the first clone is reappearing, so jump as needed and land on their heads to get around them. 5. Run right, on to the lower middle ledge on jump on to the right midair steps avoiding your clones. Pause until they pass and then grab the pie. 6. Avoid the first clone, run and jump to the far right, wait till the clones pass and drop down and grab the pie before they reappear. 7. Run right and jump on to the smaller ledge and up the stairs ahead of the first clone coming up that way and grab the pie in the center. 4 - Perilous Ingestions Time Challenge: 00:45:00 Recording Challenge: 6 1. Pause a second or two, then jump at the very edge of the ledge and float right and you can grab the pie. 2. Run left and jump on the second or third spring, wait till the first clone is gone and use it to get to the pie. Remember which you used. 3. Run right, land on the leftmost spring and use it to get the pie. 4. You can sneak between your second and third clone. I landed on the head and walked off avoiding both, then used the second spring from the left to get the pie. 5. Like the first, run and jump off the ledge and float to it. This is why you paused on the first one. 6. Thanks to a hop I didn't mean, I got between a couple of my clones and used the rightmost spring to grab the last pie. 5 - Look Before You Eat Time Challenge: 00:50:00 Recording Challenge: 6 1. Jump over the wall to the left, land on the left of the leftmost pie, then run right and grab your pie. 2. Drop off to the right, run left and grab the pie. Getting your first clone to wait on the left is needed to grab it ahead of him. 3. Run left, jump to the next ledge, then jump right and grab the pie. 4. Run right, drop down the middle, jump your second clone pause a second before grabbing the pie for your next clone. 5. Pause until your clones are gone, then jump right and then left to get the pie above you. 6. Pause until your last clone has jumped past your ledge, fall down and quickly run left to grab the pie. ******************************************************************************* That's it for all the shorts, and should have all the achievements at this points. Credit for 4-1 again to Rastansaga for his video. Only one I couldn't figure out a suitable and quick solution for both challenges.
