*Intro [IR01]
##########################

So its been a while since I last made a FAQ, a couple of years now, so Im
sorry if this doesnt quite stand up to scratch but it should managed to
get you through the world of Hydrophobia. As Im sure youre aware at the
end of each section there is a four digit code which also appears in the
contents, simply press Ctrl+F and type in that code to find the next usage
which should, if I dont mess up, bring you to the correct section.
For example the Intro code is IR01.

The guide is being made from a second play through on the Hard difficulty
but should work on all difficulties. This isnt a guide for 100%
completion, Ill point out documents, items and hidden Malthus logos when
I can but I know its not all of them. Youll have wait for another guide
or if I ever update.

##########################
**Basic Controls [BSCT]
##########################

Move Kate with the Left analogue Stick (LS) and control the game camera
with the Right Analogue Stick (RS).

Press LS to crouch and enter stealth mode. This allows you to creep around
undetected by enemies, so long as they dont see you.

Press Y to jump. Y is a context sensitive button so while running and
pressing Y youll jump forward. Pressing forward and Y while facing a
wall will cause Kate to climb if there is anything to grab hold of.

While climbing pointing in the direction you want to go and pressing Y
will make Kate attempt a jump in whatever direction. Pressing back and
Y while climbing will cause Kate to jump backwards.

While running hold forward and B to perform a forward roll. Pressing B
while climbing will cause Kate to drop, if there is anything grabbable
below, Kate will catch hold of it.

Use X to hack objects, pick up items/ammo/ documents and open doors.

##########################
** Swimming [SWMM]
##########################

While swimming LS is used to control the direction of Kate. Pressing back
on the LS while swimming will make Kate do a 180 in the water.

RS is used to ascent and descend while swimming (I never used this).

Hold Y to surface.

Hold B to dive.

Hold A to rapidly swim.

##########################
** Combat [MTKB]
##########################

Press RB to draw your gun.

Pressing RT will fire your gun. Itll also draw your gun if it isnt
already drawn and Kate will fire immediately so thats not good for
stealth.

Press A when prompted to take cover. Press A again to leave cover.
Depending on where you are you may be able to switch cover by pressing
in a direction and pressing A, like while taking cover at a doorway.

To select ammo press left on the D-pad and select with the RS.

While using special ammo hold X to reload.

##########################
** Environmental Damage
##########################

Use the environment to kill your enemies. You can tell what can be
destroyed as your target will turn red. Here are the following items
you can use;

Explosive barrels can be blown up with a charged shot. They can also
be positioned by using the weak shot to nudge it about but occasionally
this will also cause it to explode so watch out. In order to be
effective the enemy much be within at least five feet of the object,
the closer the better.

Fire extinguishers turn up late in the game and are basically
miniature explosive barrels. Theyre often mounted on walls so be
careful not to take cover behind one that has one of these babies on it.

There are gas leaks all over the ship, you can spot these by the glaze
that the gas causes. A charged shot will cause it to explode with a wide
area of damage. They do take a while to settle down though so dont
run straight into the area after blowing one off.

Large bodies of water suddenly released into the area will knock
opponents down, you can achieve this by opening doors with water behind
them or by smashing the windows that have water behind themdont ask
why there are large windowed rooms filled with water on this ship,
assume its ballast.

Electrical attacks are the rarest environmental effect but its
extremely lethal (as opposed to just slightly lethal) and it has a
wide range. Shoot down electrical wires or blow up short-circuited
terminals that are found throughout the game. Remember water conducts
electricity so always do this at a distance.

##########################
**Hacking [HCKG]
##########################

Hacking in this game is done via a mini-game. Its all based on the
frequency you have to match the one on your Mavi to the one displayed
on the background. You control the amplitude (the height) either with
the LT or the LS and the wavelength (the length) with the RS or RT. The
closer you get the more your controller will rumble. Hold the correct
frequency for a few seconds and youll go onto the next one.

Later Hacks have more complicated frequencies with more fluctuations but
the basic principle remains the same. Try to get the length right and
then get the height just below the top and guide yourself with the
rumble feature from there.

##########################
**Mavi [MRBF]
##########################

Mavi (sounds and looks a lot like Navi doesnt it) is a portable computer
that is used for the day-to-day security inspection on the ship. To
access Mavi press down on the D-pad. Once youve done this youll enter
a first person view. Depending on the skills youve acquired youll be
able to see invisible messages on the walls, access doors remotely or
hack cameras.

Note that Mavi can be used while Kate is standing or underwater, but
cant be used while Kate is surfaced and treading water.

##########################
**Cameras [CAMS]
##########################

There are cameras dotted throughout the game. Most of the time these
are pretty worthless but occasionally youll need to use them to access
doors you otherwise cant reach. Zoom in or out in camera mode with the
LT and RT and which between cameras using the LB or RB. To open a door
with a camera focus on it to get a lock and then press X.

##########################
**Doors [HBDT]
##########################

Doors play a big part in this game and as such there are several
different types. The types are differentiated by colour once you gain
the remote door access skill. Doors with blue lights on them, colour
coded Green with Mavi, are accessible at any time. Doors with red
lights, also colour coded red with Mavi, are locked and will stay
locked unless its plot related. Doors with no lights on, colour
coded yellow with Mavi, are malfunctioning and wont ever open.
Doors with purple lights, also colour coded purple with Mavi, are
encrypted doors that need a cipher to open. There is a final door
colour coded blue with Mavi that shows a door that will open but
that needs a higher security clearance.

Looking at doors with Mavi will also show you how high the water
behind the door is by filling it up respectively with blue.
Not very handy but nice to know.

##########################
** Items and Documents [ITDC]
##########################

Scattered throughout the ship are items and documents. Pick these up
and theyll give some back history on the game. Standard stuff really.
Note that even if you follow this guide to the letter you wont get
every item or document. Sorry I missed some.

##########################
**Malthus Logos [MTUL]
##########################

Hidden throughout the game are portraits of Thomas Malthus. Hes the
guy that came up with the theory the Malthusians are so obsessed with.
You can only find these portraits by using the Mavi as they are
invisible to the naked eye. Once youve found one of these focus and
press X to download a quote from his thesis. They basically act as
documents. For the sake of simplicity Ive referred to these invisible
portraits that have downloadable quotes in them Malthus logos, Oh and
theyre always purple.

Note that even if you follow this guide to the letter you wont get all
the logos, sorry I missed some.

##########################
** Medals [MDAL]
##########################

Basically this games version of achievements. Yes the game still has
achievements but it also awards us medals for achieving set targets.
You also get some achievements, for achieving some of these medals.
Yes I did make that sound far more complicated than I needed to.

##########################
##########################
Act 1 [ACT1]
##########################
##########################

Act one is all about getting to grips with the game. Theres no combat
and very little danger involved so just take your time and learn the
controls and figure out how Mavi and the cipher routine works.

##########################
Kates Room [KARM]
##########################
After the opening segment were free to roam around Kates room. The
first task of the game is to find Kates Mavi, an electronic device
for the Queen of the Worlds engineers. If youre interested in gaining
the medal Retrospective here is a list of items you need to look at;

There is an item on the coffee table.

Over by the sink there are some hand grips.

On the shelf left of the TV there is a small doll.

Just by the left of the TV there is a photo.

Under the TV there is a swimming certificate.

Right of the TV there is another photo.

Hanging on the wall past the last photo there is a degree in engineering.

A photo of somebody climbing (probably Kate) just left of the large
metal table.

A set of Weighted Wrist Bands on the metal table.

Over by the computer there is a book on engineering on the small table on
the left wall.

Finally Mavi is over by the computer, behind Kate and to the right of the
starting position. Scoot the annoying Scotsman will come in; soon you will
learn to hate that voiceif you dont already. After seeing the sights
through on the balcony and inspecting everything you wanted to in the room
head to the door thats by the sink.

##########################
A-Deck. What are we doing on A-Deck? [ADWA]
##########################

Jenny huh? If there is ever a follow up expect Jenny to be Kates sister
who drowned mysteriously or something. Anyway youre currently in an
elevator shaft and if movies have taught me nothing else its that good
things generally dont happen in them. Run up to one of the walls facing
away from the camera and press forward and Y. Kate will run up the wall
and grab the bar. A bar to the far right will start glowing. Shimmy over
to the glowing bar and press forward and Y again to jump to the next bar.
Keep going as far as you can and dont worry about all the explosions
going around. Youll come to an L-shaped pipe; follow that around so
youre over the exposed door. Press B to drop down and then forward and Y
to pull yourself up.

Before going anywhere run to the dead-end to the sign that reads
Security Room, cue a little cut scene and an easy medal. Turn around and
head down the linear corridor, through the blue door. Rule of thumb with
doors; blue/green-open, red=locked and unable to open,
yellow=malfunctioning, and unable to open and purple=encrypted, unlockable
with a cipher. Head up the stairs and enjoy that familiar scream. Dont run
into the fire as surprisingly its not good for your health. When you go up
the stairs another short cut-scene and youll learn that Kate needs a new
security clearance.

Turn around and head up the stairs to the top floor and through the left door
finally a door that works Kate moans despite already going through a
working door. Another cut-scene with a man that looks to have been beaten
to death. Before accessing the console head to the front of the room and
left from the door there is a document on the desk and another on the floor
just behind the desk. Then there is another document on the floor behind the
desk on the right. There is another document by the body near the console,
just to its right. Then use the console. Heading back through the room a
cut-scene will play and the room will burst into flames also locking the
door.

Youre going to need to hack the console but its behind a wall of flames.
The only way then is to jump out the window and onto the beam outside.
Run and press Y to jump out, now press forward and Y to climb up on the
beam and then balance yourself with the LS. Dont follow the first beam
but jump over to the bar right in front of Kate. Swing across by rocking
back and forth with the LS and Jump using Y. Youll gain another medal
and out on the centre of the beam there is another object to grab.
Now head back the way you game to the first beam, towards the terminal
you have to hack. Run up to the console and begin your hack.

Hacking can be a bit confusing but its really simple. You have to make
your wave match the wave in the background. You control the amplitude
(the height) either with the LT or the LS and the wavelength (the length)
with the RS or RT. When you get close to the right frequency the controller
will rumble and you just need a slight adjustment to make it match.

Jump back out the window onto the beam, shimmy along (its faster) until
the reach the other side and jump backwards by pressing back on the LS and
then Y. Head out the now unlocked door to find the stairs have been
destroyed. Jump over the railing on the left to land on the next floor.
Head down to the level you originally started and head to the door that
was originally locked with the sign Security Control above it. Head
through the next door and then run all the way to the other side of the
corridor and press forward and B to roll under the closing door. If you
managed it, great you got another medal. If you didnt, dont worry,
just swim back the way you came and use the small red terminal to open
the door. There is no air in the room so dont dawdle, but Kate can hold
her breath for a long time.

##########################
Breach [BRCH]
##########################

Good you made it through the start of the game, hopefully unscathed.
Go through the first door and youll come to a rather large room. Go to
the back of the room, jump on one of the vending machines and then jump up
onto the phone booths to collect another item. Head back to the door and
youll see that there is only one way out; from the door to the right,
the door under the sign saying Security Control. Its a elevator shaft
and youre going to have to climb up it.

Start by taking the ladder, the press left and Y to jump to a ledge. Follow
it around and then just forward and Y to jump up to the next length, repeat
to get even higher. Note you can only do this when there are pipes in front
of Kate or she doesnt have anything to push off against. Follow it around,
to the left, then upwards again. Before going around to the second part of
the ladder, this is when the elevator starts to slipsee I told you good
things dont happen in them.
Youre now on a timer so quickly head up the ladder and jump over to the
left when you reach the top. Dont change ledges and follow it all the way
around to the left pressing X when prompted to open the door. Climb out and
watch the lift fall behind you abnormally just after you exit. Turn around
and go back through the shaft and up towards the top. Dont fall because
the bottom isnt filled with water anymore. At the top of the remaining
ladder go left and follow it around to another door. Go inside and youll
find a dead body glowing green. Green bodies means they have items in them,
so its time to steal from the dead. This fellow has a document on him,
head back the way you game to lower level using B to drop down from ledge
to ledge. Huh a whole floor just for that one room. So lets head over to
the guy thats banging on the glass right in front of the shaft, you may
have noticed him on the TV screens down in the lobby for a cutscene.

##########################
** Saving the Chief [HTTC]
##########################
Before doing anything else head to the right to the far side of the room
and examine the purple door to gain another medal, also picking up the
document from the dead body, now go back. Just to the left of the window
the Chief was banging on there is a ladder, follow it up and around to
the- oh damn the ceiling collapsed. So either jump across, or if you fell
down climb on the debris and over to the right side of the damaged walkway.
When you reach the malfunctioning door jump to the pipe over the security
emblem, jumping over the small gap in the middle before dropping down and
going into the two storied room. On the lower level there is another two
documents, one on the floor and another on the desk. On the higher level
there are two doors one of which opens and leads to the room you need to
access. On the floor there is a dead man, steal the item hes carrying to
gain your first frequency key.

Frequency keys allow you to view the cipher for locked doors in that area.
Try it out now, press down on the D-pad to bring up Mavi which will now
display a lot of hidden artwork all over the walls. Dont be confused by
all the writing the part youre interested in is the yellow arrows, follow
the yellow arrows outside the security room and the purple cipher is just
next to the dead body that had the document. Then just right to the cipher
is the first door youll need to decrypt, you dont need your Mavi open
to do this, just run up and press X.

Now for a little bit of timing, just right of the door there is a pipe
that goes across the burning chasm, you have to shimmy along that while
avoiding the fire that periodically spurs out. Head out to a set of stairs
and down a level to the only door to meet your first set of Malthusians.
Dont worry about being stealthy theyre not coming back. Head through
the encrypted door and scan with your Mavi the Thomas Malthus logo
to gain another document. Then use the console.

Youre on a timer here so be quick. Head back the way you came; up the
stairs and shimmy over the pipe before heading back to the window.
Open up your Mavi and notice that the door on the other side of the glass
is coloured green. Focus on the green door and open it remotely with X
to drench the flames with the water behind the door.

Head into the security room, the lower floor door should be open and head
left into where the Chief was trapped. Talk to the Chief and take note
of the document on the desk on the far side of the room, the object on
the overturned filing cabinet to the right and the hidden Malthus logo
opposite the door you came him (scan using your Mavi, Ill just say
Malthus logo from now on). Hack the console to the right of the room to
gain Security Access One.

##########################
** He Left Us! He Left Us! [JURP]
##########################

Well he was a charming fellow but who cares; now that we have Security
Access One more doors are open to us. Go back to the area where you
gained the remote door access skill. Thats through the encrypted purple
door. The chasm has degraded further and now you just have to balance
across a beam to get across. Head down the stairs and youll find that
the water is quite a bit higher than last time. As you travel through
the corridor one of the doors breaks and releases a torrent of water.
Simply swim over to the door on the far side and exit into the lobby
before you went up the elevator shaft. Keep going back the way you came
when you first entered the level, through the door just to the left of
the one you exited. Follow the linear corridor until you hit a set of
stairs. Going up them to reach the door to Central Station Access,
before going through turn to the left and check for a Malthus logo by
the vending machines. Once through the door youll get a cut-scene and
find that the doors are encrypted.

Before leaving the room check right and find another Malthus logo.
Openning the door youll find that the water has risen quite a bit in the
last 30 seconds which isnt good news as youre going to have to go diving
in a second. Press B to dive and head down one level, follow the corridor
holding A to swim faster. Once in the corridor Scoot will tell you about
the elevator shaft, aim for the diamond target and once inside hold down
Y to reach the surface quickly. Provided you didnt mess you should make
it easily. Say what you like about her, err, unique swimming style it's
certainly fast. Once surfaced climb the shaft and dont worry nothing
with come crashing down on top of you. Well done youve completed Act 1
and you should have gained an Avatar award.

##########################
##########################
*Act 2 [ACT2]
##########################
##########################

Act 2 sees us get some basic combat. Generally pretty easy as you only go
up against a few at a time, learn to make use of the surrounding
environment to your advantage. Its not that hard to learn there are only
a couple things you can really do.

##########################
** Just Sonic Rounds [JUSR]
##########################
Okay so now there are Malthusians about and if you dont kill yourself they
have no compunctions about doing it for you. Press down on the LS to go into
stealth mode and then RB to draw your pistol. Note that its not a normal
pistol, it wont really kill enemies (well it will after many charged
rounds) itll just stun them but it will make objects like those explosive
barrels in front of you explode. If you want the Stealth medal youre going
to need to sneak down the corridor using the sides of the walls for cover
each time the terrorist passes. Then when he comes down make a charged shot
and shoot the first barrel, should take him out no problem. If you just
want to get use to the combat then play around with the barrels, using
weaker shots to nudge them in the right location and charged shots to make
them explode, also notice the windows with water behind them. Destroy them
and water will pour out and if an enemy is standing nearby itll knock
them off their feet. Oh and just next to the encrypted door in this area
there is a Malthus Logo to collect.

Head through the next room and if youre after the medal then youll have
to wait for the next enemy to mosey on up to the bend in the room or
knocking him out with a charged shot and standing on top of him drowning
the poor fellow. Otherwise have some fun the the gas-pipe, the exploding
barrels and the window filled with water again. Either way youll gain
another frequency key.

Head back the way you came but beware the lord of the land approaches.
Or you know, another thug with a gun. You should have a general idea what
to do now, either use the barrels to kill him, water to swipe him off his
feet or shock him and then stand on his back while hes submerged
underwater.

The cipher is back down the elevator shaft, and its time for another
medal. To do this you have to do it all in one breath but dont worry if
you cant because there is any easier way. Dive down one level by
holding B, open the door and then swim forward holding A to swim faster
and directly left until you need the next wall. Whip out your Mavi with
the D-pad and scan the cipher on the wall, now head the way you came once
you hit the shaft press Y to surface quickly. If you cant do it fast
enough there is an air pocket in this corridor, in the alcove there is a
ventilation fan that has some air trapped underneath it but if you just
hold down B-A and Y when told you shouldnt have a problem. Oh and remember
to holster your gun with RB to make movement easier.

##########################
** Cycloconverter A [CYVA]
##########################

There are two ways to enter the next section, there is an encrypted door
straight in front of the elevator or there is one hidden behind glass that
is flooded a litter further down the corridor. The first one sees you
enter the next corridor (which has two Malthusians in it) normally while
the second one will see you enter it via a flooded room. Youll have to
shoot your way out, or be shot at to get through the glass. Personally I
find the second method a bit pointless but it can be a bit of frantic fun
if as youll knock a couple of guns off their feet and then you can lay on
some heavily shots to keep them down and out.

Go down to the far right side of the corridor and look on the wall to the
left. There is a small hatch above the floor level which you can open and
climb in. When to come to a fork head left and through the door, check out
the Malthus logo on the other side of the wall to the right.
Then head back and take the remaining right path. To gain access to the
first Cycloconverter.

Go to the left to see the electronics explode while also causing the shaft
you just crawled through to burst into flames for some reason too. Dont
go near the electricity, just like fire, it bad. Instead check the
highlighted terminal and then use your Mavi on the CCTV camera. Press LB
or RB to switch cameras until you come to a scene with Malthusians about
to execute two workmen. Quickly with the camera look to the left and using
the remote access gained earlier open the door thus flooding the area
with electrically charged water allowing at least one person to escape.

Your problems arent over yet though, there are still two Malthusians on
the lower level, see for yourself with the camera. Now that the
electricity has stopped go through the previously blocked area, pick up
the object from the desk and scan the Malthus Logo just behind the desk.
Shoot out the glass next to the locked door and learn about the
electrified cables. These are the hardest environment danger to use
because the wires are just so damn small but they do have a wide radius
so are worth using if you have the time to carefully aim. Speaking of
which run around a little bit to get the Malthusians to notice you then
take careful aim at the wires above the walkway before shooting them
and shocking them to death. Otherwise let then go up the ramp and use
the leaking gas one them. I dont know about you but I think I might
just die from the lame puns the game throws at us.

Once theyre defeated go down to the lowest level and to the second door
on the left. For the sake of ease in the future dont destroy the
windows or barrels in the next few corridors, you might need them later
*hint, hint*.

##########################
** Cycloconverter B [CYVB]
##########################

Go through the next few corridors until you come across a room that looks
just like the one you just left. Stop in front of the door and bring up
Mavi and access the CCTV system in the area, cycle through to find a
Malthusian in the control room and youll gain another medal. Dont
dawdle because two other Malthusians will walk down to the lower level.
Go left (while crouching) so you can see up the stairs, see the
electrical wire, shoot in and it should fall and kill the two guys.
Alternatively there is an explosive barrel on the descent of the stairs
you can use. The last guy should be staying in the control room so head
on up and shoot out the window so you can get the drop on him. There are
a couple of barrels in this room and a panel at the back that you can
shoot to short circuit but you might just have to keep using charged
Sonic shots to take him down.

On the far side of the wall there is a Malthus logo. Hack the console
and dont be confused by the fact the frequency is a bit more irregular.
All you need to do is get your frequency as close as you can and itll
start to match automatically. After youve done this some Malthusians will
appear, check the CCTV if you want and play around with the doors on the
lower levels to confuse them. This allows you to sneak down the stairs
and take them out either using the electrical wires or the barrels.
If theyre currently heading up the stairs youve got two gas leaks to
use against them. One of them will have the frequency key need to find
the cipher. The cipher is found on the walkway area. Just below the
window for the control room.

On the lower level of the Cycloconverter room B on one of the raised
areas there is another Malthus logo. From the stairs head left through
the door and then go through the encrypted door on the right in the new
corridor. Turn off the gas-valve and go back to the Cycloconverter A room.
Note that the corridors will now have a Malthusian lurking around,
hopefully you left some barrels and the windows unbroken like a told
you in these corridors to make your life easier. In fact in the corridor
with the first enemy if you blow the two barrels next to the window while
hes still close youll get a medal for mega-combo.

Keep going into the Cycloconverter room. There a new enemy in the room
so run over to the left and aim at the electrical wire, shoot it down when
somebody comes to investigate all the splashing being careful not to get
shocked yourself. Keep left and find a document on a raised platform that
was inaccessible before the gas was shut off. Also to the left there is
another corridor with another encrypted room; however it seems completely
pointless so instead head straight to the door with a sign that reads
VFD Facility Access.

##########################
** VFD Facility Access [VDFA]
##########################

When you enter youll be confronted with more leaking gas pipesthat
somehow shut themselves off and yet turn back on still lit. Either way
youve got to time a run through the blaze, there are two jets of fire
and a large save zone in the middle, with an item on the floor, so its
easy to get through. Note that the door back locks after you hit the
midway point so if you want to explore that area do it now.

The next area has yet more flames and large chasm infront of you
completely blocking your advance, stop trying to jump itI said stop.
Instead use your Mavi and access the camera on the other side. Using
the camera turn to the left and open the door on the far side of the
corridor. This will put out the fires and have the added effect of flooding
the lower level.

Jump down the hole in the floor, swim forward and right to find a dead body
with a frequency key. Climb the ladder and use the Mavi, right in front of
you will be a Malthus logo while the cipher will be to the right behind
another burning gas pipe, simply scan it through the blaze. Turn around
an use your newly discovered cipher on the door behind you. Go down the
corridor and turn left at the fork, open the far door and fight your way
through the water. Youll discover a Malthus logo on the wall to the left
in this room. Go back to the start of this section where you had to run
through the gas pipes (youll have to do it again) and use the cipher on
the room to the right. Go down the ladder and use the gas valve.

This aside from shutting off most of the gas will also flood the room you
where in. Fight against the water and go through the door that has just
blown. Swim through the corridor and use the ladder your previously used
to get out of the drink. Going back out of the room and heading right
youll come to a dead end. Look to the left on the wall just above the
floor to find another one of those maintenance shafts. Follow the shaft
down all the way and pick up your first new set of ammo. This gel ammo
allows you to fire a 10 second delayed fire burst shot.

##########################
** Disable The VDF Units [DVDF]
##########################

Search the body as you drop out of the shaft for more ammo and a document.
Then take cover on the right and use your gel-rounds on them to make short
work of them. Alternatively there are some explosive barrels in the room and
the water is still deep enough to drown them if you stand on them while
theyre stunned.

After youve finished them off on the opposite side of the room, under a
camera, there is a Malthus logo. Go around to the right an into the
maintenance room finding a document on the floor to the right and a panel
to hack on the left. This will cause an explosion that will bring two
terrorists to search the area, either use the gel rounds or make use of
the barrelsseems that the water level has dropped though so you cant
drown them anymore. Collect the frequency key.

Having said that a door will burst open and the whole area will be
flooded, find the door thats burst open and swim in, use your Mavi to
find another Malthus logo in the dead-end room. Swim back to the main
chamber, surface and climb up on the walkway. Youll find the cipher up
there. On the other side opposite side of where you found the cipher,
attempt to open the encrypted door. The door will jam so use your Mavi
to operate the camera on the opposite side of the door. Press LB and
open the door youre now faced with to drain the water.

Jump down from the walkway and open up the encrypted door on the lower
level. Go through the door and youll come across a long corridor with
lots of cover and explosive barrels with a Malthusian on the other end.
Youll handle him easily. Of course the next door is locked to go to the
right of the encrypted door and climb the ladder. Up the ladder there is
a Malthus logo on the wall. Now climb up the bars round to the right and
door down to the open the door. Enter the room and find a document on
the desk, now run and jump to the rigging outside, follow it around before
finally jumping to another one of those small maintenance shafts.

Follow the shaft around and drop down into the room below. There is water
at the bottom to break your fall so dont worry. Collect the frequency key
from the dead body and begin scanning with Mavi, notice the Malthus logo
just to the right of the body. Hack the console to destroy the VDFs, focus
on the far way where the water is pouring through and fire a charged sonic
shot at the breach. This will cause the panel to burst open filling the
room with water allowing you to reach the exit again.

After reaching the end of the shaft again get back into the room at the top
of the bars and find the cipher on the left wall, now simply head down to
the lowest level and open the encrypted door, being careful not to fall all
the way to your death from the room.

##########################
** Access The Loading Bay [ALBY]
##########################

Go through the encrypted door and look to the right, there is a Malthus logo
on the pillar. That pillar also contains some bars you can use to climb up
to the higher level. Get onto of the vending machine and up the red bars,
dont bother entering the shaft and head left. Jump up onto the broken blue
screen and keep going up until you reach the red pipe. Now shimmy left and
jump to what seems to be air-conditioning units, drop down and follow the
walkway around to shut off the gas.

Jump down and head into the room with the sign Control Room. Youll find
semi-automatic ammo on the dead body, energy rounds behind the desk and the
frequency key on the desk. There is also a Malthus Logo behind the desk on
the wall. Go back to the area where you climbed the pipe and right to the
door that reads Holding Area. Fight against the torrential force into
the next area.

Now Scoot gives the impression that its urgent for your to find the
shut-off valve but its not take as long as you need. There will always
be air at the top so you dont even need to do it all in one breath.
Anyway dive down to the bottom and take the left side and swim to the
far end to the highlighted valve. Now the next valve for some reason
isnt highlighted but it isnt too hard to find. I recommend you surface
and get some air. Now Simply swim to the other side of where the
previous valve was, to the right. Keep right and youll find the valve
but you cant access it! Shoot the glass and turn the valve to drain all
the water from the area.

Youll find yourself trapped at the bottom with all the doors locked.
Find the malfunctioning door with the sign Purification Tanks above it
and shoot the panel just to the left where all the water is pouring out
to raise the level once again. Just above the panel you just shot there
is a mesh platform you can climb on once the water gets high enough.
Climb up the yellow pipes, using the grey pipes just below as leverage
to push Kate up higher. Then crisscross the red pipe until you can follow
it around to the left. Jump up and then at the top jump backwards onto
the yellow overhanging pipes. Swing across them, using the RS in a
rocking motion and Y to jump to reach the door and gain access to the
stairs leading to Loading Bay 1. Before you go through the door go up
one set of stairs and find a Malthus Logo on the wall, now head towards
Loading Bay 1.

##########################
** Loading Bay 1 [LAB1]
##########################

Crouch down behind the vending machine and use Mavi on the camera behind
you. Make sure to crouch behind the vending machine or youll probably be
spotted. Press RB once and focus on the door on the lower level, this will
let in some water to distract the Malthusians and also garner yourself a
medal. Occasionally the door will read access restricted so focus
somewhere else and then zoom in a bit, then try the door again.

Now sneak around to the right and once you reach the second corridor nudge
a barrel over to the door, open it and take out the Malthusian that should
be behind it. There are at least four Malthusians lurking around this area
but there are plenty of explosive barrels, gas leaks, electrical panels to
destroy to make short work of them. Also dont forget youve picked up some
new ammo to try out too.

Once defeated go into the corridor that is the other side of which you
entered and find the purple panel that has the option hack. Hack it and
open the locked door to the control room. Inside youll find a Malthus
logo and some dead bodies that may have ammo on them. Oh and an
independent worthless camera.

Now that youve done that descend into the lower section of the bay and
find the yellow sign that reads A1. If you didnt open the door youll
see that water is gushing out of a panel below it, but if you did then
its just some seemingly random bubbles. Use a charged shot to blast open
the panel releasing more water and a Malthusian. Surface and look towards
the malfunctioning lift, just behind a panel yet more water is coming
through a gap. Another charged shot will blow the panel off releasing yet
more water into the already heavily flooded room. Now what you need to do
is swim down to the lowest level and find the bottom the lift shaft that
has a set of boxes stacked up against the wall. Behind them will be another
panel you can blast which will send the boxes flying and the lift crashing
to the bottom of the shaft.

This will also release two more Malthusians , kill them using the variety
of options available and climb up on the walkway right at the top of the
room. The cipher is on the red pipe. This will also release two more
Malthusians, take note at where they come from and kill them. Dive down
onto the highest section of the catwalk and through the hole where the
malfunctioning lift was blocking access to gain access to Loading Bay 2.

##########################
** Loading Bay 2 [LAB2]
##########################

When you enter youll notice some guys stuck on the opposite side of the
room. Dont worry about them just now, jump down to the lower area and go
a 180 to find a door that opens. Swim through following it around to the
left and then right. Notice the glass windows to the left and right,
smash either of them and find an air pocket at the top of the enclosed
room. Now keep going the way you where through the door, head straight
and then left through the door to reach the stairwell where you can climb
up. Dont enter the open door instead head up to top, take the ammo from
the dead body and find the Malthus logo on the wall too, now head through
the door a level below.

When you go through the door youll find yourself in a room with two sides
and a gaping hole in the middle. There is a Malthusian on our side and
couple on the other. Sneak around the door on the left and shoot out the
gas leak to kill the Malthusian on our side, now take out the guys on the
other side using the explosive barrels, the fire extinguishers but be
careful as your side is littered with such deadly things as well and while
the enemies never aim at them they can accidently hit them so try not to
hide behind pillars that have fire extinguishers on them. Dont destroy
them on your side either as you may need them later.

After youve taken them out you need to get across the gap, all you need
to do is jump on the moving platform, run across and jump at the other
side but there is the slight problem of the electric cables that will
kill you if you get too close. You can either stay on the left and jump
on at the last possible moment and rush to the other side and jump over
before getting close to the cables. Or you can play it safe and shoot
the tops of the cables to trim them down to size thus rendering them
harmlessly buzzing at the top of the room. Once youre on the other
side smash the window to the left, scan the room to find a Malthus
logo and access the terminal to release those guys you saw trapped
in the room at the start of the area.

Reinforcements will arrive but so will more terrorists. Your security
buddies arent got to last long if you dont pitch in the fight as well
but thankfully the other side is filled with explosive barrels and fire
extinguishersright? Go over the side once again and pick up the frequency
key from one of the dead bodies. Somehow the loading bay will fill up with
water so go down to the lowest section and by one of the doors there will
be a cipher key. Its horizontal this one and often hidden behind floating
boxes. Now from the cipher go up to the left and through the encrypted
door to complete the act and again another avatar clothing item.

##########################
*Act 3 [ACT3]
##########################
##########################

Act three sees more gun fights and a no more Scoot talking in your ear,
thank God.

##########################
** Return to the Cycloconverters [RCYV]
##########################

Just when I thought I had typed out the last Cycloconverter the riptide
draws me back in. I know this is a game all about water but you cant
fault its green credentials, its recycling that whole section so that
means that I may accidently tell you about Malthus logos you should have
already picked up at the start of the last chapter, then again if you did
miss then well now is definitely your last chance.

Make your way through the first door at the end of the corridor, be
careful as there is a Malthusian in this room and not a lot of destructible
objects. There are a couple of windows with water behind them but thatll
just probably fill the corridor up with water, so if you dont like the
underwater combat dont do that. In the next room there are four
electrically charged cables, shoot them at the top to make them shorter
and their shocks harmless. You can also access the CCTV camera here and
using clever use of the water and the doors open them and get them to
knock over some of the bad-guys further down in the corridorsthis will
however alert them to your presence so it depends on if you want to try
to be a bit stealthy or not.

In the next corridor there will be a couple more windows filled with water
and some more Malthusians, this time however there are some explosive
barrels to play around with if you so wish. Oh and I just found out
completely flooding all these corridors earns you medal, isnt that nice.
Now there are two ways to go here; right following the corridor to the
Cycloconverter or smashing one of the windows on the left of the corridor
and finding a door that leads in another direction. They both end up in
the same place but the left corridor has a room with a Malthus logo in
it, just above the door. Whichever way you take to get into the
Cycloconverter A youll be greeted by two swimming terrorists, there
a couple of floating explosive barrels which will make short work of
them. Now surface and look for the destroyed staircase. Dont climb up
yet, destroy the electric cables as usual. Head up to the control room
and hack the console.

Dive into the water and make your way through the door that reads
Cycloconverter B, no prizes for guessing that was our destination.
Hurry through the corridors, there are only a couple of air pockets in
the adjoining rooms and the doors do seem to take forever to load.
Dont worry about the electric buzzing around in the air pockets, you
should be fine. Once you reach the Cycloconverter B room there will be
another two Malthusians swimming around and some more explosive barrels
to use against them. Once again head up to the control room and hack the
next console to get a cut-scene.

After the cut-scene more Malthusians show up and theyre waiting for you
on the stairs. In theory you should be able to stun the first one as he
comes through the door and then use the explosive barrel on him but I
could never get the angle right. Instead I nudged one of the barrels right
in front of the door and had a fired shot ready for him as soon as he
opened it. He never uses the window so dont worry about that. Go through
the door and to the right and enter a corridor with another terrorist in
wait. Funny thing I just took cover and he somehow managed to set himself
alight on the fire in the room, if he doesnt do that take him down the
more traditional way.

Follow the green lit doors until you find a familiar looking elevator
shaft, just to the right there is a dead body with two documents on it.
Yes were going swimming again, dive down past the first door to the
second one, enter it then swim to the right and through the door to
reach the stairwell. Now go up one floor and enter the room with the
elevatorshey I remember this door!

Finally decrypt the elevator and reach the Shuttle Plaza.

##########################
** Shuttle Plaza [STPZ]
##########################

Yes weve made it, the bright lights, the wide open places the warzone
that is going on! This is the biggest fight in the game and it takes
place on a large open plaza (which I assume has something to do with
shuttles). There are four branches off from the central platform which
itself has a large building in the middle. Either side are long drops,
knock a couple Malthusians off the side here and youll gain a new
medal. Seems that youre a major problem to their plans as, and I
quote save the explosives for the real target. Shes heading this
way so stay alert as the blow up two security guards. Dont worry
though theyll still just stand around with their automatic machineguns
while half-heartedly taking cover.

Quickly scan the wall as you enter to the left to get another Malthus
logo then after the first two guards are killed dont hang about and
get as far up to the central area as you can. If you dont you might
get trapped by the elevators with no cover. On the central platform there
are several explosive barrels and plenty of cover but watch out for being
shot in the back. Once you think youve cleared them all say alert as
some more may spawn. For some fun glitches you can knock them out with
the stun gun on the stairs and them shoot them through the steps. If the
central area gets too hot for your take cover in one of the other
pathways as they have more cover and more explosive items. Also to add
to the fun some security guards join in the fight but theyre next to
useless.

Its a hard fight but one way to make it easier is to rush around the
central area (going right as the left way is blocked) and youll hit a
checkpoint. If the music dies down dont believe youve won, there might
still be one lurking around. Anyway after youre sure youve taken
everybody guess out the central building on the side you faced when you
entered. Look for the door that reads Shuttle Security, jump on the
yellow block and then run jump to the overturned shop to collect an item.
Now get to the opposite side of the central platform (just by the
checkpoint) and look for a shop called Coffee Station. On top of the
burning rubble there are some adverts, walk on those and climb onto the
building to the left. Then onto the central building, following the
ladder all the way to the top.

Once there at the top look at the girder from the ladder side some at it
and then do some diagonal jumps along the girder. When you reach the top
jump backwards into the overhanging vent. Well thats what youre meant
to do, a glitch allows you to literally jump up the girder provided your
position yourself correctly but this does mean the scene where the
building collapses wont be triggered. Once in the vent head right through
the doors following it around the only way you can go until you the reach
the end.

Once out you get two choices save Scoot or escape. If you try to escape
the shutters go down and you decide to save Scoot anyway. Once the shutters
go down a Malthusian will spawn at one end of this long room, it depends
on which direction youre looking at the time so hell always spawn behind
you. There are plenty of explosive barrels if you still need the hint.
After youve killed him the door to the security room will be open and
another Malthusian will appear. After killing him head to the opposite
side of where you came in and examine the wall for a Malthus logo, then
head through security. Go up the stairs and into the office, before
hacking the system check the wall on the right for the Malthus logo.

Now with the water drained head back the way you came to get a cut-scene.
Congratulations you just completed the game. Yeah sudden wasnt it.
After completing the game Youll gain access to the challenge room.
