Added an email from Randall about a method to get Guitarist's and Vocalist's Coattails much easier. 1.0 - Um, the whole guide pretty much except for changes listed above. 2.0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction (INTRO) Hey there, are you in the need for some extra Gamerscore? That's where this guide will help. I'll try and detail as much info as possible as to how to get these Achievements. Luckily most of them are pretty easy, but some can be tricky, misunderstood or even glitched! If you think of any other ways to achieve them *Even if its slight abuse like some of the Guitar Hero 3 Achievements were, feel free to send them my way. My email is at the top of the FAQ*. Also note that the secret achievements are here, so you've been warned. Not like any of them are really that Secret anyway. 3.0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Achievements (ACHV) The achievements will be listed in alphabetical order, with the Gamerscore listed next to the name, followed by the way to unlock it, then general tips. If you're searching for a particular one, use Ctrl + F to find the name quickly and effectively. 1.21 Jigowatts?!?! (15) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All Band Members activated Star Power at the same time For this achievement, you must have a Band of four players. If you can't find four people near you, or you don't have the full band kit, this can be obtained in Band Quickplay in the Xbox Live menu. To get this, just save up some Star Power until the bar is full. This should be easy, and the difficulty doesn't matter, so having a vocalist on Beginner will give you enough Star Power to do this in a matter of seconds. Then, have all players activate Star Power. Note that it doesn't HAVE to be at the same time, but all band members must be IN Star Power at the same time. So for example, three people can activate, then just before it runs out the last person can activate and you will get the achievement. 50 Note Posse (15) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All band members have a streak of 50 notes at the same time This achievement seems simple enough. Each band member must have a streak of 50 at the same time. There are a few problems with this however. For the vocalist to have a streak of 50, only certain songs can be used. These songs are: No Sleep Till Brooklyn Vicarious Eye of the Tiger Hotel California Love Removal Machine Rebel Yell Band on the Run Monsoon Hollywood Nights Love Spreads Nuvole E Lenzuola Spiderwebs American Woman Livin' on a Prayer Rooftops Antisocial B.Y.O.B. Beat It One Armed Scissor Toy Boy Never Too Late For this, use No Sleep Till Brooklyn and have someone shouting the whole time, or use a fan to blow air into the microphone to get an instant 100% A Pair Beats A Pair (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finish an Xbox Live 2v2 Pro Face-Off match Choose the 2v2 Pro Face-Off option, and do one of two things: If you only have one guitar, wait until you get a partner, then walk away OR If you have 2 guitars, sign the other one in, get into a match, then walk away You can complete it if you want to, you just have to make it to the end of the song to get this achievement. Axe Museum (20) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All the guitars are unlocked This achievement is glitched, and so some may have difficulty unlocking it. To unlock it, you'll need to five star every song on guitar. So, after you beat the career, regardless of difficulty, go into the "Book your own Gig" door. Choose six songs that you haven't five starred, and change the difficulty to one or two lower. Even if you beat the game on Expert, you can play these on Medium etc. Then do this until every song is five starred. It should unlock after completing another song, so book a Gig after that and play to have fun and it should unlock. Bad to the Bone (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as the Skeleton The Skeleton is unlocked after completing the vocals career. You ONLY need to beat the free gigs, so if you don't want to play the ones that cost money you don't need to. After beating the career you can buy the Skeleton for $6000, then simply play a song as him. Band on a Mission (25) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete the majority of the gigs This appears when you've gone through most of the free gigs in any Career on any difficulty. So simply play free gigs until you get this. To get a fair few other achievements though, you'll end up getting this anyway Bling, Bling (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Earn $1,000,000 in lifetime earnings Boy, this is a doozy. In your band you have to accumulate...1 million dollars. Note: You don't need to have 1 million dollars at once, you just need to have a total of 1 million dollars. So you can spend whatever you want, it counts as money earned, not money available. This is a very time consuming achievement. Luckily, the way to get it is by.... Having fun! Just play the game and you'll get it, after a LONG time. If you're really bent on getting it though, here's some ways to get more money: 1. By putting No Sleep Till Brooklyn on Expert Vocals, putting the microphone up to something that makes noise (Loud speakers, a fan etc.) and changing the channel, watching TV and pressing A when the songs over. This gets you around $760 per song and involves little effort from you. 2. Playing songs with long note streaks. This is the major factor in earning money. I recommend playing Bass songs on Expert, such as Rebel Yell. Pretty much songs with lots of notes that are easy to hit. Also note that online games will NOT earn you money, so don't spend all that time playing online getting money, because it's not going to happen. Quickplay and Career exclusive. Another idea is to put the vocals on Beginner while you play another instrument. This way you get a band unity bonus for that extra little bit of cash. Custom Beats (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create your own custom drums The create your own _____ achievements are extremely easy to get. Go into Rock Star Creator, choose a gender, a style, then go into instrument, drums. Change the shell of it if possible, or just any cosmetic change to the drums, then save these changes by going back and clicking save. Choose a quick name (I used A for all my saves) then when it saves you'll get this achievement. Don't Blink (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Travis Barker Travis is unlocked after completing The Pacific gig in the drum career. He can be bought for $5000. Then play a song as him and ta-dah! 10 Gamerscore is yours. Download Junkie (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download a few songs from GHTunes Well, this is pretty self explanatory. Go into Music Creator, GHTunes, and go into Rising Stars, or anything else for that matter. Then download a few songs. To download a song, press A on the song, then Y when it appears to download. Do this 3 times and you get this achievement. Easy There (25) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a career on Easy Complete all of the free careers in any instrument, or even Band career on the Easy difficulty. If one band member is on Easy it counts as Easy, so if everyone else wants to play on a higher difficulty they can. This achievement is stackable, so completing the career on a higher difficulty will net you the achievement for all of the lower ones. Feeding the Beast (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upload a song to GHTunes Go into the Recording Studio, mash a few buttons on the guitar, then save it and upload it to GHTunes. Call it a small name, like A for convenience. First of Many (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a gig Start a career, on any difficulty with any instrument, and choose the first gig. Play the two songs and then the encore, and you'll get this achievement. Get Your Boogie On (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Score 222,222 or higher on Satch Boogie on Guitar Oh dear, this one's pretty tricky. It can be done on Hard or Expert, but expect to have to get almost perfect on Hard to get this. On Expert however, you'll need to get about 15,000 over the 5 star cutoff of around 208,000. So the best bet is to combo everything outside of the solo F and the trills in Solo D. You'll need to be able to pass Solo F without Star Power too, or at least be pretty capable of doing it. The best Star Power path for this is: *Note: Whammying all Star Power sustains is vital!* Get the first two and use on the YBO chord Get another two and use after the second orange sustain, where it goes GOGBGYGRGR hammerons After obtaining yet another two phrases, activate on the fast RY chords, not RY chord sustains After whammying the phrase before Solo F (The big daddy of tapping solos) Use it either at the start of the solo, or when close to failing. Make sure you get the two SP phrases in the solo, it's only three notes a phrase.Get the one after the solo and activate on the 2nd BO chord you see. With a bit of luck and a LOT of skill, you'll hopefully be in the clear after doing this path. Remember though, you need to be able to combo the WHOLE song apart from Solo D and F. Guitarist's Coattails (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get the highest score in a band playing the guitar For this, you can be bass or lead guitar. Play on Expert while everyone else plays on Medium or Easy and choose an easy song to 100%. I would say something like What I've Done is a good choice for lead guitar. Randall wrote to me with the following, which seems like a great idea: "I found out an easier way to get both Guitarist's and Vocalist's Coattail Secret Achievements. For the Guitar one, create a song and make Bass, Keyboard, and Drums to have only one note and get any number of notes for the guitar. After creating a song with mostly guitar notes, turn on all instruments in (if you have 2 guitars, a drum, and controller + microphone/Xbox 360 Headset). Then play you custom song with your guitar and you will get the Guitarist's Coattail achievement. I tried to get Super Group Unite, 1.21 Jigowatts?!?!, Solid Gold Rockstars, and Platinum Rockstar Secret Achievements but those 4 achievements don't work in a Custom Song. I got a 100% on all instruments (on Expert by creating a song with 1 note for each member) but it didn't give me Solid Gold or Platinum Rockstars achievement." Thanks Randall! Hall of Famer (100) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a career on Expert difficulty Again, any instrument will do, and band counts too, but everyone will have to be on Expert. Just complete the free gigs to unlock this. If you didn't beat any other career difficulty, you also get the achievements for beating a career on Hard, Medium and Easy, so if you can play on Expert complete the game the first time on it to save LOTS of time. Hardcore (60) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a career on Hard difficulty Again, any instrument will do, and band counts too, but everyone will have to be on Hard or Expert, with at least one person on Hard. Just complete the free gigs to unlock this. If you didn't beat any other career difficulty, you also get the achievements for beating a career on Medium and Easy. Heavy Metall... (35) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Score 444,444 or higher on the song Trapped Under Ice This HAS to be full band to unlock. I played it with a random guy on bass and guitar, and we got 446,000 and it didn't work, but then we joined 2 other people and got it. For the most part, you'll have to be on Hard or Expert for most members. But, if you have a good guitarist and bassist, they can play on Expert while the drummer plays on Medium and the vocalist can mess around on Beginner and provide Star Power for the rest of the band. Inked (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create a custom tattoo Edit a rockstar you've created, go to tattoo, apply a random layer, then save the changes. Jack of All Trades (150) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete all instrument careers Boy, this is a pretty time consuming one. You'll have to beat all the free gigs in Guitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals to get this one. However, difficulty is irrelevant, so play Vocals on Beginner and put the microphone up to some speakers playing music and watch television or browse the Internet for a while if you find it THAT boring. Using a fan works even better! Leading Lady (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Hayley Williams After completing the gig with the song "Misery Business" in the vocals career, you can purchase Hayley for $5000. Then choose her as your rocker and play any song as her. Learning the Ropes (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a tutorial For any seasoned player, this could be the hardest achievement in the game. Sitting there as someone explains obvious stuff to you can be a challenge, but for best results go into the Band tutorial. It has very little work on your part. However, so does the Guitar tutorial on Battles and Face-Offs, though you have to do something near the end. Medium Musician (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a career on the Medium difficulty Again, any instrument will do, and band counts too, but everyone will have to be on Medium, Hard or Expert, with at least one person on Medium. Just complete the free gigs to unlock this. If you didn't beat any other career difficulty, you also get the achievement for beating a career on Easy. Mike Checka' (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Score 123,450 or higher on Beat It as the vocalist If you're a decent singer, Expert can get you this with a little practice. However, there is a way to get this on Medium, but it requires speakers to be near you, as well as pretty much perfecting the song. It involves freeform section abuse. On topic though, if you have the full band set, sign in everyone as a guest, then go into Band v Band, get into a match and walk away. Or go in by yourself, but the chances of getting a game is slim. Motorcity Madman (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Ted Nugent The same deal as the others. Play the Kentucky gig in the Guitar Career and purchase him for $10000, then play a song as him. Muse to my Ears (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Score 222,222 or higher on Assassin on Drums This is another tricky one to get if you're inexperienced with the drums. You'll need to be comboing a LOT of it on either Hard or Expert. Hard you can get around 95% notes hit, Expert around 90%. Use Star Power in sections you know you can combo, and hope for the best. One Man Band (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perform as every instrument Just make sure your profile has played a song on Guitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals. Though if you're aiming to complete all careers you'll get this anyway. One Of A Kind Axe (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create a custom guitar Make a character, go into instrument, guitar, choose a body and then a colour for it, then save it as a letter to save time, like A. Then you'll get it while it saves. One Time Solo Artist (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a song Must be done Solo. Just play a song in Career. Wow. Pick and Axe (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perform as a Guitarist Band or Solo. Play a song on Guitar in Career. Again, wow. Platinum Rockstars (50) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 100% a song as a band, hard or expert only Well this is a challenge. You'll need to be getting every member on Hard or Expert, and even the vocalist must get 100%, which due to the vocal system is nigh on impossible. I'd recommend No Sleep Till Brooklyn, which is easy on Vocals, Bass and Drums. The Guitar solo can be pretty tricky, so make sure the guitarist can hit it consistently on Hard. Pumpkin Smasher (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Billy Corgan Complete the Poland gig in Band Career, and you can get Billy Corgan for free. Then play a song as him. Rock Maiden (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create a female character Go into Character Creator, choose female, then a style, maybe change the hair colour, then save her. You can delete her afterwards. For some people, this has trouble unlocking, so if you don't get it the first time, try again, but customize your character some more. Shiny Metal Thingy (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as the Rokubot After you beat the Drum career, the Rokubot can be bought for $15000. Then, play a song as him. Should We Stick Together? (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a song in a band Must be a four player band. Either do a song in Band Quickplay, or play a song with 3 other people. Any difficulty counts. Solid Gold Rockstars (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 100% a song as a band A fair bit easier than Platinum Rockstars, any difficulty can count. So choose No Sleep Till Brooklyn again, except have everyone on whatever difficulty they can 100% the song on. Or try for Platinum Rockstars if possible, then this will unlock as well. Solo Artist (25) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a solo career Beat all of the free gigs of any instrument on any difficulty. Stamp of Approval (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create a band logo Just create one when it asks you in the first few seconds of the game, then save it as any name you want. Stix (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perform as a Drummer Play any song, solo or band, as the drummer. Any difficulty. Super Group Unite (15) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Earn an 8x multiplier with the whole band at the same time This can be earned at the same time as 1.21 Jigowatts?!?!. Make sure everyone is on a 4x multiplier, then activate at roughly the same time. Survival of the Fittest (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete an Xbox Live Battle Match With your Guitar, choose Battle mode, then when it starts, strum as fast as you can. You'll lose, get the achievement and only have wasted a few seconds. The Dark Prince (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Ozzy Osbourne After completing Ozzfest in the Vocals career, Ozzy can be bought for $10000. Then play a song as him. The Experience (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Jimi Hendrix In the Guitar Career, play until you get to the gig with The Wind Cries Mary. Jimi Hendrix will appear and your character will appear stunned and let him play. I'd be stunned if I saw a zombie of one of the most talented guitarists of all time walking up to me as well. He can't be played in any other song apart from Purple Haze (Live) and can't be bought. TOOL of Destruction (35) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Score 444,444 or more on the song Schism Much like the Trapped Under Ice achievement, this must be full band. It's just as easy to get too. Have the bass and Guitar player on Hard or Expert, and the other two can do whatever they want. Top of the Charts (30) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete a band career Complete all of the free gigs in the band career. Luckily, this can be 2-4 players, so if you don't have a band, put the vocals on Beginner and just talk into the mic the whole time. Also, if you have access to a fan (Yes, it is mentioned a lot. Get over it.) you can simply play whatever instrument you like and have the microphone near a fan to only complete it with one person. Or, you know, you could get a friend to do it. Vocalist's Coattails (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get the highest score in a band on Vocals Play a Band v Band match with everyone signed in as a guest, and sing on Beginner. Alternatively, ask the other members of the band to play on Beginner while you play on a higher difficulty. Randall has some good avice that's very easy to follow if you're having trouble getting this achievement. "I found out an easier way to get both Guitarist's and Vocalist's Coattail Secret Achievements. For the Vocals, do the same thing except make guitar (either lead or rhythm) to have only one note and make song notes on keyboard for the vocals. Play it with the vocals while every instrument is on. You will easily get the Vocalist's Coattail achievement. I tried to get Super Group Unite, 1.21 Jigowatts?!?!, Solid Gold Rockstars, and Platinum Rockstar Secret Achievements but those 4 achievements don't work in a Custom Song. Warrior of Rock (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create a male band member Exactly the same as the female method. Choose a male, a style, then change his hair or make his chin resemble Jay Leno or something, then save him and delete him after you get the achievement. Wylde Man (10) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song as Zack Wylde After the song "Stillborn" in the Guitar Career, Zack can be purchased for $5000. Play a song as him. Boy these achievements are repetitive. Yodeler (5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play a song on Vocals Play a song in Vocals Career to unlock this achievement. 3.5 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unlockables (UNLK) Billy Corgan -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play Today in the band career Hayley Williams -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play Misery Business in the vocals career Ozzy Osbourne -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finish the Ozzfest gig in vocals career Rockubot -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play all free gigs in the drum career Skeleton -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play all free gigs in the vocals career Sting (Why no achievement for Sting?) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play Demolition Man in the bass career Ted Nugent -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beat the gig containing his boss battle and Stranglehold in the Guitar career Travis Barker -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Play Dammit in the drum career Zack Wylde -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beat the gig containing his boss battle and Stillborn in the Guitar career Pull Me under (Song) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beat a career, it will play in the credits and be unlocked after the credits. 4.0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ's (FAQS) Note: Most of these are already answered in the FAQ itself Q: If I beat the career on Expert, will I get the achievements for Hard, Medium and Easy? A: Yes you do. Q: I played Trapped Under Ice/Schism with a friend, and scored way over 444,444 and it didn't unlock. WTF?????? A: Those achievements MUST be full band. Q: I beat all of the free gigs and didn't get all the achievements! A: Try going to Book your Own gig and play a song. Or play the gigs that cost money. Q: Do cheats disable achievements? A: Yes, Auto-Kick and Always Slide will disable all achievements. Q: If I have a band where I'm on Expert but my friend/brother/dog is on Medium, will I get the achievement for beating the career on Expert? A: Nope, only for Medium. Q: X song was too hard, so I turned the difficulty down from Y to Z for that one song. Will I get the achievement for beating the game on Y? A: No, you'll have to beat ALL of the free songs on that difficulty, boss battles included. Q: X boss battle was too hard, so I turned down the difficulty from Y to Z and I didn't get the achievement for beating it on Y! It isn't even a song so that can't be the problem. Is my game glitched? A: What is this? No it isn't read above. Boss battles COUNT PEOPLE. Q: Tell me about yourself. A: Um alright. I'm 16, I'm Australian and I own GH2/GH3/GHWT/RB2.
