 1. PLAYER MATCH
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Player Match allows you to compete against other players and watch online
matches. There are three main options: Quick Match, Custom Match, and Create
Match.

>QUICK MATCH
When you select Quick Match, the game will find the optimal game session based
on connection speed and give you the option to join it. It simply connects you
to which ever lobby it finds to be the fastest. You are able to see who is in
the session and what its settings are before you decide to actually join the
session. You cannot filter the search by game mode, etc.

>CUSTOM MATCH
Custom Match lets you search for a game session that meets the conditions you
select.
-"Search Session" performs the search using the guidelines you have selected.
  The returned results will show the Session Name and flag, the number of
  player out of the total possible number of players in the session, the Game
  Mode, the connection speed (Red=Poor, Yellow= Mediocre, Green=Excellent), and
  the Status (Either the players are "Playing" or in the "Lobby"). You can
  refresh these results by pressing the X Button, or create your own session by
  pressing the Y Button. Selecting a session will bring you to a screen with
  more detailed information, including the names and grades of everyone in the
  match. From there you can decide to "Join" or go "Back".
-"Avatar" does not impact the search, this is where you select which of your
  avatars you want to use when you join a game.
-"Game Mode" lets you select the kind of online battle you are looking for, and
  the "Any" option can be chosen to include lobbies of any game mode in your
  results.
-"Battle Type" lets you search for either Single or Tag Battle matches, and the
  "Any" option will all lobbies of either battle type to appear in your
  results.
-"Grade" allows you to alter your search to only include lobbies that contain
  players between a certain grade range. Holding the X Button and moving left
  or right will change the minimum grade allowed, while holding the Y Button
  and moving left or right will change the maximum grade allowed. Your current
  letter grade is highlighted in yellow and must be contained within the range.
-"Language" lets you choose if you want to filter rooms to ones that only speak
  English or leave them open to any language.

>CREATE MATCH
Create Match lets you create a game session as a host.
-"Create Session" creates a game session with the conditions you have chosen.
  You are then sent to the game's lobby. Pressing the X Button will also create
  the game session, and the Y Button will revert the settings back to their
  default.
-"Avatar" lets you select which avatar you want to use for this session.
-"Lobby" lets you select which lobby you want to use for your session.
-"Receptionist" allows you chose the appearance of your lobby's receptionist.
  Every lobby has its own default receptionist, but you choose to make it look
  like any of the avatars you currently possess.
-"TV" allows you to change the lobby's TV. Every lobby has its own Small Size
  TV by default.
-"Session Name" allows you to name the session you are about to create. You can
  enter the name using a controller and the on screen keyboard or by plugging
  in a USB keyboard. The special symbols listed in the "Text Chat" section of
  this guide can also be entered.
-"Game Mode" is where you select the session's game mode. This option can be
  changed later using the Receptionist.
-"Battle Type" is where to select to have the session be either Single or Tag
  Battle. This option can be changed later using the Receptionist.
-"Life Gauge" is where you set the size of the life gauge for the combatants.
  This option can be changed later using the Receptionist.
-"Match Point" is where you set the number of rounds needed to win a match.
  This option can be changed later using the Receptionist.
-"Round Time" sets the time limit for a single round. This option can be
  changed later using the Receptionist.
-"Max Players" lets you set the maximum amount of players allowed in a session.
-"Friend Slot" lets you set the number of slots you want to keep reserved for
  players that are on your friends list.
-"Grade" lets you limit your lobby to players whose grade falls within a
  specific range. Holding the X Button and moving left or right will change
  the minimum grade allowed, while holding the Y Button and moving left or
  right will change the maximum grade allowed. Your current letter grade is
  highlighted in yellow and must be contained within the range.
-"Language" allows you to signal other players that you either don't care what
  languages are spoken in the session or that you want it to be English only.
-"Flag" lets you choose what nation's flag you want to appear next to the
  session name when it appears in people's search results.

>TYPES OF ONLINE BATTLES
- Winner-Stays (2-16 Players)
  Two players fight at a time. The winning player becomes the champion and
  stays on for the next fight. This mode also supports Tag Battle.
- Tournament (2-16 Players)
  Fight in a tournament. The winning player is awarded bonus points based on
  the number of opponents they have defeated. This mode also supports Tag
  Battle.
- Team Battle (2-16 Players)
  Players split into two teams (Red and Blue) and fight a team battle. The game
  is won when all the players on one team are defeated.
- Survival (3-16 Players)
  The champion takes on all the players and aims to defeat the most opponents.
  Collecting items increases health, and the defeat of each enemy also restores
  some health.
- Loser-Stays (2-16 Players)
  In this mode the loser stays on for the next fight. This mode also supports
  Tag Battle.
- Kumite (2-16 Players)
  Regardless of whether they win or lose the fight, the champion stays to fight
  the next opponent. This mode also supports Tag Battle.

 2. ZACK'S SHOP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zack's Shop is an online-only store that sells avatars, accessories, lobbies,
and costumes for you fighters. This items are purchased using Zack Bucks (Z),
which are awarded for winning matches. The inventory of Zack's store randomly
changes every night at midnight, but if you've been saving up for a specific
item and don't see it, there is a trick. Zack's Shop relies on your XBOX 360's
clock to tell it to change the inventory, so from the dashboard you can to the
"System" menu, then "Console Settings", "Clock", and finally "Time Zone". By
changing the time zone to either a day ahead or behind your current setting, it
will trick Zack's Shop into changing the inventory. For a complete list of the
inventory and prices at Zack's shop, refer to section II.

 3. CUSTOMIZE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using this menu, you can customize your avatars using the items you purchased
from Zack's Shop. First, using left and right, find the avatar you wish to
customize and select it using the A Button. The top three options on the right
side of the screen are available to all avatars. The first selects the "skin".
For avatars classified as "human" (Man,Woman,Boy,Girl) you can select from 8
different skin tones. For all other avatars you much choose from the different
skins specifically made for that avatar that can be purchased from Zack's Shop.
The second option lets you selects from items that can be worn on the avatar's
head. The third options selects from items that are worn on the face. The
human avatars have three additional options available. The first of these
changes the human avatar's hairstyle. The next changes the eyes. The final
option selects their outfit.

 4. USER PROFILES

User Profiles lets you view your online battle record and change your player
information. The right side of the screen lists your major stats along with
information about your reliability and your comment.

>PLAY DATA
Selecting Play Data will give you detailed stats organized by character used.
You can view the number of single and tag matches you played along with your
win average, your highest winning and losing streak, your fastests victories,
and the number of stars you have acquired.

>VS LOG
The VS Log is a list of every player you have ever played and your win/lose
record with them.

>SELECT FLAG
Here you select which nation's flag you want associated with your gamertag.

>EDIT COMMENT
Here you can edit the comment that is contained in your DOA online profile. It
can be entered using a controller and the onscreen keyboard or buy using a USB
keyboard.

 5. WORLD RANKINGS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here you can view various online rankings. When viewing these leaderboards, you
can use the Left Analog Stick or D-Pad to scroll up and down the list. Pressing
the Right Analog Stick up or down will bring you the top or bottom of the list,
respectively. Pressing the X Button will return you to viewing where you fall
on the list.

>GRADE
Players are ranked based on the number of Grade Points they currently have.

>RATING
Players are ranked based on their win rate relative to the number of matches
that have participated in.

>RELIABILITY
Players are ranked based on the number of matches hosted.

>TIME ATTACK (SINGLE)
Players are ranked in Time Attack Mode (Single Match). Your high score will
only be uploaded to the online leaderboards if you were signed into XBOX LIVE
at the time. Pressing left or right will cycle through the different
difficulties.

>TIME ATTACK (TAG)
Players are ranked in Time Attack Mode (Tag Match). Your high score will only
be uploaded to the online leaderboards if you were signed into XBOX LIVE at the
time. Pressing left or right will cycle through the different difficulties.

>SURVIVAL (SINGLE)
Players are ranked in Survival Mode (Single Match). Your high score will only
be uploaded to the online leaderboards if you were signed into XBOX LIVE at the
time. Pressing left or right will cycle through the different difficulties.

Players are ranked in Survival Mode (Tag Match). Your high score will only be

Story Mode and/or Time Attack Mode, they can also be purchased for 5000 Zack
each. Costumes must be purchased in order, so for example, you must have
Kasumi's costume 3 before her costume 4 becomes available.

>ARCADE STICK CONTROLS
The controls for the arcade stick are slightly different than that of the
standard controller. Since it has only one stick, you must hold down the
Y Button and hit a direction with the stick to perform an emote with your
avatar. To move the cursor you must hold the B Button and press a direction
with the stick. There is no way turn on or off the display of gamertags and the
cursor.

 2. TEXT CHAT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you don't have a microphone or simply don't want to use one, text chat is
supported in the lobbies. While this can be performed with the controller by
pressing the X Button and entering in the text using the onscreen display, it
is far less tedious to simply plug in a USB keyboard. Plus, using a USB
keyboard allows you more freedom to customize your text. The Right and Left
Bumpers allow you to view the text messages in an instant messanger format
rather than as bubbles above the avatar's heads. Balloon and text color can be
changed in the Receptionist's menu under "Online Options".

>CENSORSHIP
Text Chat has filters that censor almost all profanity. You will have to get
VERY creative if you want to type naughty messages, because it recognizes all
but the most obscure slang. It is also good at recognizing symbols that look
like letters, so don't think you can bypass the censorship just buy using
dollar signs and zeros. The most interesting part of the censorship, however,
is that it also censors some words that aren't naughty at all. For example,
the words "Microsoft", "Bill Gates", "Bungie", and "Halo" are all banned.
Ironically you can type "Tekken" and "Sony" as much as you want. This
censorship also applies to naming sessions.

 3. THE RECEPTIONIST'S MENU
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Receptionist's Menu is accessed by pressing the Start Button or by using
the cursor.

>JOIN MATCH
Selecting this enters you into the match. If a fight is in progress, you will
leave the lobby and become a spectator until it is your turn.

>START GAME
If the minimum amount of players have joined the match, the Champion can begin
the game using this option.

>CHANGE GAME SETTINGS
Here the Champion can edit the Session Name, Game Mode, Battle Type, size of
the Life Gauge, number of Match Points, the Round Time, and the Flag.

>VIEW GAME SETTINGS
Allows you to view the session's name along with the current game settings.

>GIVE PLAYER CHAMPION TITLE
This option appears for the current Champion. Selecting it will have you choose
which player you wish to give the title to.

>ONLINE OPTIONS
Here you can set the color of your text balloons, your font color, and the
volume of the lobby TV.

>PLAYERS
A list of all the players in the session. Here you can view a player's stats
along with their gamercard. You can also view these stats by selecting a
player with the lobby cursor.

>LEAVE MESSAGE
Here you can leave a message for other players. Only the person who created the
session can do this.

>READ MESSAGE
Allows you to read the message left by the creator of the session.

>QUIT SESSION
Exits to the DOA Online Menu.

 4. MISCELLANEOUS LOBBY FEATURES

>THE CHAMPION CROWN
The Champion Crown is a jeweled crown that floats high above the avatar of the
player who is currently in control of the lobby. When you create a lobby it is
a good idea to immediately select "Join Match" that way the Champion Crown is
given to you.

>PARTNERING-UP FOR TAG BATTLE
If you are doing a Game Mode that supports Tag Battle, you can partner with
another player for 4-player tag matches. To ask a player to be your partner,
simply select the player with the cursor or using the "Players" menu, and then
press the X Button. If the player accepts, you and your new partner will have
matching symbols in front of your names.

>STATUS INDICATORS
- Green Gamertag: The player has not joined the match.
- White Gamertag: The player has joined the match.
- Wrench Word Bubble: The player is going through menus.
- Keyboard Word Bubble: The player is entering text.
- Green Armchair Bubble: The player has gone idle.
- Sweating Person Bubble: The player is using the XBOX 360 guide interface.

>MOTTO
Whatever you have entered as your "Motto" in your Gamer Profile will be
displayed on a sign in any lobby you create. It will also appear on signs in
the Gambler's Paradise and The D.W.A. Coliseum stages. Your motto can be
changed by selecting your Gamer Profile, going to "Edit Gamer Profile", and
then "Motto". It can be up to 21 characters long.
