How do you merge furniture in the sims 3? I watched a video and he put together multiple tables. How do you do that?

In the PC version you can do this buy using the cheat moveObjests (on/off).
To get to cheat mode on Xbox 360:
Once your family is in a house or location, pause the game, hold LB + LT + RB + RT, and it will say that Spoot is now available under "Decor Miscellaneous". Place him on your lot, and all cheats will become available. Note: Using cheats will disable challenges and achievements. However, you will be given the option to save your neighborhood before enabling cheats so you can resume the game later without cheats enabled.
From there you may see the moveObjects cheat. Using that allows you to place objects anywhere regardless of something being in the way.

That answer is not what you are looking for...it depends on what you are playing it on...the only thing you can merge, on xbox 360 is the counters in the kitchen

To merge objects you must click control shift c" then you type in MoveObjects this will work
