I've heard of this, although it hasn't happened to me. Maybe try moving or replacing the house? If your sim is poor, then stay on build and buy and hit the undo button until your furniture is back. That way your sim can survive while you build up the money to move. If you've saved the game or exited build and buy, then you might have to cheat to move out. (Start button, then press L1, R1, L2, R2 at the same time and let the cheating begin!)

I hope I could help! That must really suck!

Oh, oops, I didn't realise you were on xbox! I'm not sure how you cheat on that, but I'm sure you'll find it on the computer! Sorry!

I've recently looked into this, and from others' opinions it sounds as though you cannot get a cheat for this annoyance. Selling decoratives may help, though knowing me that's not such an easy thing to do. If you appreciate lots of decorations in your building, maybe try by making any over the top sized rooms a little smaller by dragger the wall on Build and Buy 'Hand.' Also, try to consider trading your expsensive furniture for the cheaper items. If you don't like the look of them, you often have a wild range of attractive styles and patterns.
Hope this helps.

I haven't enable cheats yet on my Xbox 360 so don't know if that helps eliminate the fire meter BUT I did add "kleptomaniac" to the list of my Sim's traits so she is able to pick up the items I need without having to buy them (since "buying" is disabled when the fire meter is full). Once she puts it in her inventory I can then go to "Build and Buy Mode" and place it on my lot. It let me put a ton more stuff on my lot. The only bummer about doing it this way is that you can only steal 3 items a day AND sometimes she does not steal what you want her to. For the most part though this has worked out great. Then I can customize the item after I place it (by using "Create a Style") so it suits me better. Also, one thing I have noticed is that you can trick the fire meter (a little) into thinking you have room left by deleting stuff then exiting "Build and Buy Mode", going back into it, re-adding, etc. Play around with it, this usually works for me. It will tell me I cannot add anymore but then once I delete like 3 things and then exit and go back in, it will sometimes end up letting me add about 10 more. Hope this helps.

I'm having the fire meter problem for xbox 360 aswell. I made a huggggeeee house and I'm barley done putting stuff in it and that popped up? So just making my house a bit smaller might do the trick then?
