I have this problem too. It's because of the latest patch. The patch modified all the game objects to work with Sims 3 Pets and now all the custom content I had downloaded are messed up. Everything from tables to bathtubs, the sims do and other objects do not interact with them properly. You have to update all your custom content from wherever you downloaded them or not have custom content in your house if you want to play the game glitch free.

If we buy the sims 3 Pets does that fix the problem?
Guest answered:

I have exactly the same problem! Chairs don't even move when Sims sit on them and bathtubs don't fill with water and sims float when in them. If I put stuff on the dressers the stuff kind of gets "inside" them and I can't put them off. (End tables seem to work for me)

Note: All of the stuff that doesn't work for me is from the Sims 3 Store.

Im having the same problem with my objects on the sims 3. I downloaded some stuff from the sims 3 exchange website. Now I can put anything on my counters unless it's stuff that came with the game. The stuff I downloaded was stuff that has been custom made my sims 3 users. The thing is that before it was no problem at. And it seems that after the last update this has messed everything up? How can I fix it?

Guest answered:

Since the new patch I have the same problem, and it is also with content that came with my games. (not from the exchange or anywhere else)

So, if I buy sims 3 Pets will that solve the issue?

i didn't have this problem until after i uploaded pets, now when my sim makes a meal the leftovers "sink" to the bottom of a cabinet and spoil and the rest of the family starves, i can't place a simstore/game original small appliance on the top of a counter, all of my content came from the original sims3 games/expansion packs and now i can't enjoy the most basic elements of the game without unnecessary complication.

For those who are still having this problem, here's some info that might help...

Problem: Chairs, tables & other objects not working properly. Objects appear "stuck" inside of other objects, or sims "sit on air" instead of in chairs.

Cause: Custom content (both The Sims 3 Store & non-EA cc) has not been updated to work with The Sims 3 Pets. Specifically, any cc installed before Oct. 2011 has not been updated to include new animations and interactions done by animals.

Info: The latest patch (1.26 or higher) was released to massively update all objects in the sims games. This was because objects must now include animations and interactions for pets. If you have installed Pets but are using cc that was installed before Oct. 2011, none of your cc objects will function properly until they are updated.

Solution: You must update all of your cc in order to get it working properly. The Sims Resource has created a tool that will help you do this in batches instead of re-installing or updating each piece of cc individually. There's a link directly on their home page that refers to the custom content fix (look in upper left-hand area, above featured items).

You'll need to download their tool and another file called granny2.dll. Make sure that the dll file you download is from 2009 (no other versions will work). I was able to do this successfully, and all of my cc is now working. If anyone needs the specific dll file that will work, please post a reply to this answer. I don't know if we're allowed to post links or email addresses here. I'll check back on this thread occasionally to see if anyone needs the file.
