How does your house carl gain a horse into it's possession? I can't figure it out.

The only way I can think of is to make your companion carry Frost's Papers. Frost will only follow you around if you have the papers on hand so putting them in a drawer at home means he disappears for a while. Maybe if you make your companion carry them then they can ride Frost.
