Along the paths and in certain building you will find glowing spires of light, you walk into one of those and you press E or whatever button you have 'activate' assigned to (default is E) it will open up a save screen then you click on the file you want to save (if none exists create one) and then in the lower left hand side of the screen it will have a "save game" button and you click that. Job done
