 B. Gameplay Basics
===============================================================================

--------
 Moving
--------
Select the MOVE icon. You can move anywhere within the ring of green dots. When
you stop, you will see a ring of blue dots. You can move anywhere in the blue
ring after you attack.

-----------
 Attacking
-----------
Selec the ATTACK icon to use the unit\'s weapons. Some units may have more than
one attack per turn, or more than one weapon. Pressing up or down on the attack
icon selects alternate weapons.

There are two targeting systems, depending on the weapon: LINE OF SIGHT and
BALLISTIC.

Line of Sight targeting takes place in three stages. First, aim the circular
target so that your enemy is as close to the center as possible, then press the
A button.

Next, a line will appear and sweep across the circle. Stop this line by
pressing the A button as close to the center of the circle for maximum power.
Then another line will pass though the target. The weapon will be fired where
the two lines cross. Try to get them to cross as close as possible to the
center of the target. Press the A button to take your shot.

Ballistic targeting uses an overhead view that shows the maximum range of the
weapon and the targets within that range. First, stop the pulsing circle when
it passes over your taget by pressing the A button. Then a sweeping line will
rotate clockwise, like radar screen. Press the A button to stop this line on
your target and take your shot.

----------
 End Turn
----------
When you can no longer move or attack, select the END TURN icon. You will see
icons for HEAL, SHEILD, and REST. Choose HEAL to recover lost health, but your
unit will take more damage if it is hit while healing. SHEILD mode gives the
unit increased protections between turns, but it will only be able to move 70%
of its normal range next turn. REST ends the unit\'s turn with no special
protection and no movement penalty nex turn. Try to end your turn well
protected and out of the enemie\'s sight.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
===============================================================================
 A. Friendlies
===============================================================================

[Father]
Father is a powerhouse and is fully upgraded. You only get to use him on the
first level.

[Low]
Low is a medium fighter. He has good movement range, good defense, and good
offense. He uses a LoS weapon.
Upgrades: Power, Zoom, Infra Red, x2 Attack, TeleShot

[Pepper]
Pepper is a lightweight. She has a huge movement range but a weak offense and
defense. She uses a LoS weapon.
Upgrades: Power, Ballistic, Range

[Scallion]
Scallion is juggernaut. He has an OK movement range but has a powerful offense
and defense. He uses a ballistic weapon that has heavy damage.
Upgrades: Range, Power, x2 Attack, Scatter, Smoke

[Wardwarf]
Wardwarf is a small robot that has a big movement range with a powerful offense
and a weak defense. It uses a LoS weapon and also has a \"spy\" option with a
ballistic view that can be used to spot upgrades and health packs.
Upgrades: Power, x2 Attack, Deflect, Zoom, x2 Attack

[Caraway]
Caraway is a light medic. She has mediocre offense and defense paired with
fairly large movement range.
Upgrades: Heal

[General]
Upgrades: Power, Range, Infra Red

[Peace]

[Stranger]
Upgrades: Power

===============================================================================
 B. Enemies
===============================================================================

[Hubrik]
Hubriks are the most basic enemies. The have limited movement and only one
attack, suicide. They have sticks of dynamite attached to their backs, this is
their weapon. When in range they will move close to an opponent and detonate
the bomb, killing themselves and damaging the oppenent. They can easily be
disposed of with a well-powered shot.

[Sentrik]
Sentriks are heavily armored, slow moving powerhouses. Although they may appear
an easy target, do not leave yourself open to an attack from a Sentrik. If you
give them a chance, they will blow you to kingdom come with their LoS weapon!
If at all possible, avoid. Their heavy armor makes them quite a challenge to
take down. If it is necessary, be creative! Try using things like
undestructable rocks or cars to do heavy damage.

[Catapult]
The catapult is a dangerous enemy when it is far from the characters. It has
the ability to launch Hubriks across the battlefield, which can be used to
launch them onto the characters to cause heavy damage from long range. If you
are able to get close to the catapult, it becomes useless. It cannot attack any
units close to it.

[Gnarlak]
Gnarlaks are an average enemy. They have good offense, defense, and movement
range with a LoS weapon. The are a formidable opponent and are deadly in
numbers. Try your best to quickly kill them or you may regret it.

[Insidiak]
Insidiaks are grunts. They have weak defense and offense with an average
movement range and a weak LoS weapon. The can easily be shot down with one well
placed shot from Low or Scallion.

[Grenadak]
Grenadaks are walking mortars. They are heavily armored, slow moving, punch
packing beasts. These enemies can be very deadly if not dealt with quickly
because of there powerful ballistic attack.

 5. Walkthrough
_______________________________________________________________________________
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
===============================================================================
 A. Episode 1: A Savage Earth
===============================================================================

[Background]
Father took Low to a local stream to teach him how to hunt. Low eventually gets
bored and wants to leave. On their way to leaving they hear an explosion. After
looking over the hill they see creatures. Father tries to tell Low that they
need to sneak around, but before he can Low runs down over the hill.

[Objective: Get to the bridge]
Father and Low begin this level on a hillside far from the objective point with
four Hubriks between. At the end of the opponents first turn a Sentrik emerges
from an \"abandoned\" mine. Also, after every opponent turn additional Hubriks
may or may not get \"beamed\" onto the battlefield.

[Tips]
My advice for making quick work of this level is to kill off the Hubriks on the
right side of the level. When the Sentrik appears, use Fathers \"swap\" ability
to switch places with the Sentrik, putting Father right next to the objective
point. From here he can provide cover for Low while he makes his way to the
objective point.

[Upgrades]
If you follow the above advice you should run right into an upgrade. It is on
the way to the objective point, hidden in a mine cart. It is right along the
beaten path.

[Aftermath]
Father and Low escape across the bridge.

===============================================================================
 B. Episode 2: The Message
===============================================================================

[Background]
Father, Low, and Pepper are at the campsite. Pepper goes off to look for things
and Low is sent to watch her. Pepper gets \"kidnapped\" while Low is looking for
her, but breaks free.

[Objective: Defeat the catapult]
Pepper and Low begin this level against a handful of Hubriks and a catapult. As
the battle progresses the catapult launches Hubriks into battle.

[Tips]
Get out of range of the Hubriks! They do not stop coming. Your best bet is to
use Low to blow a hole in the cliffside. Use the hole to get Pepper and Low to
safety. Once they are on top of the cliff, simply destroy the catapult. The
Hubriks will never be able to reach you.

[Upgrades]
Use Peppers movement range to get the upgrade hidden on this level. On your way
to the hilltop blow away the covered wagon closest to the cliffside. The
upgrade is under it.

[Aftermath]
Low walks into the camp to discover his fathers dead body. He takes Pepper away
without letting her see or know of her fathers death.

===============================================================================
 C. Episode 3: Scallion
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low and Pepper stumble upon a village that is being overrun by creatures. Low
runs down into the city, telling Pepper to stay behind.

[Objective: Defeat all creatures]
Low starts this level against five Gnarlaks on the outside of a small village.
After two player turns and one enemy turn, Pepper joins Low. After three player
turns and two enemy turns Scallion joins your party.

[Tips]
Use the buildings to your advantage. After blowing a house up you can enter it,
using it as cover from the Gnarlaks. To start, blow up the first building on
the left and use that as a \"homebase.\" Sometimes Gnarlaks may come to the left
side of the buidling and stand by the stream. On your next turn jump out of
the building and shoot them into the stream for an easy kill. Other than that,
my suggested strategy is to use hit and run tactics. Run outside of a building,
shoot, and then run back into a building.

[Upgrades]
By blowing up the two-story building below the windmill you will reveal and
upgrade. I suggest using Peppers high movement range to pick this up and then
get back to cover in one turn.
There is also another upgrade deep beneath the well. One well placed blast from
Scallion or Low should unearth it.

[Aftermath]
Scallion brags about saving the village and then Low, Pepper, and Scallion
leave after they are met with a less than warm thank you.

===============================================================================
 D. Episode 4: The Immortality Gambit
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low, Pepper, and Scallion stumble upon the life giving machine the creatures
are protecting.

[Objective: Get to the machine]
Low, Pepper, and Scallion start this battle on a fairly large map with a lot of
enemies between them and the objective point. Those enemies being; two
Sentriks, three Gnarlaks, and two Insidiaks.

[Tips]
To start, use Low to blow away the Insidiak on top of the very large rock
overlooking the level (I hope you have zoom for this). Then, move Low, Pepper,
and Scallion behind the rocks to your left. From here, take out the two
Gnarlaks that will approach you. Once they are gone, move up to the large rock
you shot the Insidiak off of. Keep behind this rock and just jump on top of it
an pop shots off at the Sentriks and remaining enemies until they have all
fallen. Remember, those indestructable rocks can cause heavy damage to a
Sentrik if shot onto one.

[Upgrades]
On the right side of the battlefield you can see a few indestructable rocks
laying together. If you move the rocks (by way of a well placed blast) you will
reveal an upgrade.
On the left side of the battlefield is the very large rock. On the \"enemy\" side
of the rock is an upgrade, you must take a shot at the rock to reveal it.

[Aftermath]
Low, Pepper, and Scallion run off with the creatures immortality device as a
small army pursues.

===============================================================================
 E. Episode 5: The Valley of Screams
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low, Pepper, and Scallion are looking for Caraway, the Science Witch. On there
journey they are ambushed by creatures on a bridge.

[Objective: Get to the other side of the bridge]
Low, Pepper, and Scallion begin this level at the end of a tunnel and on a
bridge. After two player turns and one enemy turn, Wardwarf joins the party.
Also, Gnarlaks appear after every enemy turn at the end of the tunnel, where
the party starts the level.

[Tips]
There are two seperate plans for this level, seeing as how your party is split
on both sides of the level. First of all, for Wardwarf, take out the Insidiak
on the building where Wardwarf appears. Once that creature is disposed of move
Wardwarf behind the large rock right next to the objective point. This rock is
indestructable and the Sentrik and Gnarlaks will not go behind it to shoot
Wardwarf, they will just move around on the other side of it. Now that Wardwarf
is safe, you must get the rest of the crew to his position. Use Scallion to
\"dig\" holes for your party and use them for cover if you must. Never leave
yourself open to attack, especially from the Sentrik. You should be able to
finish the level rather easily using Scallion to create cover and Low to kill
the appearing Gnarlaks in one well placed Head Shot.

[Upgrades]
The first upgrade is right in front of you when you start the level. Move low
back a few steps and take a shot at the car right in front of him to uncover
the first upgrade.
The next upgrade is in the only building on the level. When Wardwarf first
joins the party move him to the building and it is in the doorway.
The other upgrade is under the bus that is hanging over the edge of the bridge.
A well placed blast could reveal the upgrade as well as damage an enemy.

[Aftermath]
Low, Pepper, and Scallion meet up with Wardwarf at the objective point and run
along down the road.

===============================================================================
 F. Episode 6: The Stranger
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low, Pepper, are Scallion led to Caraway by Wardwarf. Once they arrive Caraway
re-programs the machine and tells Scallion to touch it and then... shoots him
in the head. After Low questions her actions a Sentrik appears and Low, Pepper,
and Wardwarf all touch the machine.
NOTE: Now that your party has interacted with the Immortality Engine if they
die in battle you will not automatically lose!

[Objective: Defeat all creatures]
Low, Pepper, Wardwarf, and Caraway begin this small level with just one enemy,
a Senrik. After one player turn and one enemy turn you are joined by four
Gnarlaks.

[Tips]
Get on top of the buildings and stay back. As long as you are there the Sentrik
and Gnarlaks cannot shoot you. As always, that Gnarlaks can be taken down in
one or two shots. The Sentrik you face is a lot tougher though, and will take a
ittle more firepower but as long as you stay atop the buildings you should
finish unscathed.

[Upgrades]
The first upgrade you should come across is inside the southeast pillar.
Shooting it a few times will reveal the upgrade.
The second is on the south end of the map under the snow just before the \"dock\"
type thing.
The thirdupgrade is on the north side of the map where there is a large
building that makes one \"wall\" of the map. In the crevice in the center of the
building are a few boxes. The box in the farthest corner on the left is housing
the upgrade.

[Aftermath]
Low, Pepper, Caraway, and Wardwarf await Scallion as he is resurrected. After
Scalion rises Caraway introduces the party to General and his daugher, Peace
after which a Sentrik introduces himself to the group, only to be shot down by
\"The Stranger.\" The Stranger refuses to tell his name to the party and is then
threatened by Low, for other reasons. After Low walks away the rest follow.

===============================================================================
 G. Episode 7: An Enemy Defined
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low, Pepper, Scallion, Wardwarf, Caraway, General, Peace, and the Stranger are
at a campsite debating whether or not they should recruit. Caraway decides the
fewer the better because power corrupts. After which Low and the Stranger get
into an argument and end up fighting.

[Objective: Defeat the stranger]
This stage is Low vs the Stranger. It is a relatively small arean with few
places to hide.

[Tips]
Run to the waterfall and hide behind the rock formations and hope that the
Stranger gets stuck in the water below you. If your lucky you can do the
mission without him even shooting at you.
NOTE: Even if you lose the battle, the game still progresses.

[Upgrades]
There is one upgrade in the waterfall. You can see it from where you start.

[Aftermath]
The Stranger tells Low that he didn\'t kill him because they are more alike than
he realizes. Low shoots this accusation down as Scallion returns from a natures
calling.

===============================================================================
 H. Episode 8: My Lover, My Comrade
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low and Peace talk about how nobody listens to Low because he is just a boy.
Peace realize that he just wants to keep his sister safe.
Scallion discovers the Stranger standing beside a sleeping Pepper and questions
him. He replies, \"I was just checking to make sure she was OK.\"

[Objective: Get across the ravine]
Low and Peace begin this level in a ravine. There are two Insidiaks on the top
of the ravine. After one player turn and one enemy turn two Hubriks join the
fight and keep coming. After two player turns and two enemy turns a Grenadak
appears and is soon followed by another Insidiak.

[Tips]
Run for the objective point! The creatures aren\'t that big of an obstacle, the
main thing is to destroy the tree. After a few shots it becomes your bridge to
the objective point.

[Upgrades]

[Aftermath]
The Stranger devises a plan to modify the machine and give it back to the
creatures but suggests they move to the \"far side,\" which is what the creatures
consider their spiritual homeland.

===============================================================================
 I. Episode 9: A Legend Grows
===============================================================================

[Background]
Pepper is chased into a village by a Gnarlak. She runs into a burning church.

[Objective: Resuce Pepper then defeat the creatures]
Low, Wardwarf, and Scallion begin this large level against two Gnarlaks and a
Grenadak. As the battle progresses more Gnarlaks join the fight.

[Tips]
Defeat the Grenadak ASAP! With his ballistic weapon he can hit you from places
you would not even expect. As soon as he is down taking down the Gnarlaks,
using the houses for cover as always, should be easy.

[Upgrades]
There is one upgrade right near the party when you start the level. Walk behind
the party up the hill to the left (when facing the rest of the map) and behind
the stone wall is an upgrade.
There is another upgrade inside the burning church\'s bell tower. Take a shot or
two to make the tower fall off and then use Wardwarf\'s double-jump to jump from
the stone wall to the roof of the church.
Another upgrade can be found in a small house at the far end of the map. Blow
the house up to reveal the upgrade.

[Aftermath]

===============================================================================
 J. Episode 10: The Secret of Peace
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low, Pepper, Scallion, Wardwarf, Caraway, General, and Peace stumble across a
small town.

[Objective: Protect the windmill and defeat all creatures]
Low, Wardwarf, and General begin this small level against two Insidiaks and two
Grenadaks. Gnarlaks will join the fight throughout the battle.

[Tips]
Defeat the Grenadaks first. They can be shot down with two-three shots from Low
or Wardwarf. After they are gone all thats left are Insidiaks and Gnarlaks,
both of which are easy one hit kills. As always, use the terrain for cover to
avoid damage.

[Upgrades]
You should be able to grab both of the upgrades on this level in one turn with
Wardwarf. The first is in a doorway that is on a balcony on the windmill. Using
the free camera you should easily find it.
The second can be found on the ground. It is also on the windmill, but around
the backside. It is in a little sheltered area. Again, easily found with the
free camera.

[Aftermath]
Caraway finds out that Peace is... pregnant! After General accuses Scallion of
doing the deed, Low speaks up and says he is the one who did it.

===============================================================================
 K. Episode 11: A Winter\'s Tale
===============================================================================

[Background]
Low ponders with Scallion about the possible effects of the Immortality Engine
on Peace\'s baby. Soon after, Caraway, General, and the Stranger are chased back
into camp by a creature.

[Objective: Get the boat down the river]
Scallion, Wardwarf, and General being this small level against a Gnarlak and a
Grenadak. After one player turn and one enemy turn two Sentriks join the fight.

[Tips]
If you took time to upgrade Wardwarf with his two x2 Attacks, this level can be
finished easily! First, use Wardwarf to knock the Grenadak into the stream.
Then use him again to knock the Gnarlack back onto the bridge and finally, take
a shot at him. If you get lucky he will fall into the water when the bridge
partially breaks. If not, use Scallion and General to destroy the bridge. But
it\'s not over just yet! Whether you kill those two in the first turn or not the
two Sentriks still show up. If your Wardwarf had the ability to do what I
described there he is more than capable to take the two Sentriks alone. Using
Wardwarf, use your physical attacks on the Sentriks for a garaunteed kill. Once
they are gone you are free to clear the stream of obstructions. Of course you
could just do that in the first place but it takes about 12 shots to do so.
The obstructions you must clear are the two dams (one shot each), the bridge
(three shots), the waterwheel (three shots), and the dock (four shots).

[Upgrades]
There is one upgrade on the top of the windmill in a doorway.
There is another windmill in the ground between the house with the waterwheel
and the actualy waterwheel.

[Aftermath]
Low, Pepper, Scallion, Wardwarf, Caraway, General, Peace, and the Stranger all
board the boat.

===============================================================================
 L. Episode 12: The Dambusters
===============================================================================

[Background]
The crew decides to blow up a dam to try and eliminate the creatures in one
swift attack.

[Objective: Protect Scallion]
Low, Pepper, Scallion, Caraway, and General being this large level against a
Gnarlak, Sentrik, and an Insidiak. Additional Gnarlaks join the fight until
Scallions job is complete.

[Tips]
Use Low to go hand-to-hand with the Sentrik right off the bat. There is a good
chance your Low is strong enough to do it in one hit. If you have his x2
Attack, use his second attack to blow a hole in the bridge at the very top of
the level. There is an Insidiak standing up there. Now, use the rest of your
team to kill the Insidiak. Now all you have is a Gnarlak, and more to come. Low
can take them down in two to three shots so this level should be simple.

[Upgrades]
There is an upgrade on the very top level of the dam all the way to the left
where the elevator is. It is to the back.
There is an upgrade on the very bottom level, right in the center of the level.

[Aftermath]
Scallion returns to the top of the dam and while gloating about his work, he
knocks the Immortality Engine off the dam.

===============================================================================
 M. Episode 13: Unlucky for Some
===============================================================================

[Background]
The Immortality Engine lands in the creatures camp.

[Objective: Get to the Elevator]
Low, Pepper, Scallion, Caraway, and General begin this small level against five
Gnarlaks.

[Tips]
Simply, run for it because this level is timed! This level is small enough to
be completed in two turns. You do NOT have to stay on the land, you can run
through the water if you want.

[Upgrades]
There is an upgrade in the creature housing straight ahead of where you start
the level.

[Aftermath]
The crew plus the Strange all arrive on the elevator with the damaged
Immortality Engine. Then the dam blows.

===============================================================================
 N. Episode 14: Turning Point
===============================================================================

[Background]
The crew stumbles upon a village, wondering if the Immortality Engine still
works or not. They are then ambushed by a Sentrik that gets a shot on Pepper,
killing her. After General kills the Sentrik Peace and Caraway run towards a
nearby barn because Peace thinks it may be that time.

[Objective: Defend the Barn and defeat all creatures]
Low, Wardwarf, and General begin this medium sized level against two Sentriks,
one Grenadak, and three Gnarlaks.

[Tips]
Try to stay covered. If possible, move to and physically attack the Sentriks
and Grenadak. They are weaker against physical attakcs then they are against
gun shots. Once those three are down the remaining Gnarlaks should be no
problem.

[Upgrades]
There is an upgrade in the half-standing house that is right next to a small
cultivated field. It is in the corner with the barrel closest to the field. You
have to remove the barrel to get access to the upgrade.

[Aftermath]
Wardwarf discovers a leak in his coolant system after which he explodes right
next to General.

===============================================================================
 O. Episode 15: A Fatal Error
===============================================================================

[Background]
After Low and Peace are finished observing Pepper\'s burial they walk back to
the camp. After the Stranger tries to comfort Low on his way back he bursts
into a full sprint. When they get back to the camp Caraway thinks she has fixed
the Immortality Engine but when she activates it it resurrects three creatures.

[Objective: Protect Peace and defeat all creatures]
Low, Scallion, Caraway, Peace, and the Stranger begin this large level against
a Sentrik and two Gnarlaks. As the battle progresses more Gnarlaks arrive.

[Tips]
Use Caraway to physically hit the Sentrik off of the bridge for an easy kill.
After that blow the Gnarlaks away with Low. When the next two Gnarlaks arrive,
