Every time I plant the microphone on the back of the intercom, the alarm sounds & it's game over. I have already killed all of the guards on the ground & hid their bodies, I also killed the 1 guard in the tower. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you have hidden the bodies behind or somewhere near the tent. If you've done that the guards behind the tent will see them and sound the alarm. The best place* I've found is at the boxes at the door where you come in the area
