There are seven rings most poeple call the halo the rings are wapons built by the forrunners to destroy the flood. But the flood can't be destroyed so the rings destroy galexies to starve the flood. Humans govanant ans anything else is food for the flood. Master chief destroyed one of seven ring the profets truth mersy and regret (leaders of the covanent) think the rings can make them gods if activated. So they do any thing they can to stop the flood and master chief. But the profets tried to get the elites killed becuse they brutes are stronger. But they fight the brutes and try to stop taturause cheif of the brutes from activateing the ring.
