Hey there, adventurers! You're off to the archipelago around DK Island, home to
the Kongs who are well-known in the gaming world. Your mission, pal, is to help
the Kongs unfreeze their home who has been invaded and frozen by Vikings called
Snomads!
This guide contains all the useful information you need to know about the game,
including all the KONG letter locations and puzzle piece locations once this is
complete.
I'm a big fan of platformers and if you are too, then you've picked a fantastic
game to keep yourself busy with. This is one of the best 2D platformers ever. I
enjoy its amazing level design, tight gameplay and hidden secrets like the KONG
letters and puzzle pieces, which are detailed in this guide. Thanks for reading

This guide is divided into 4 primary sections, which are then divided into sub-
sections as listed in the Table of Contents. If you wish to quickly get to, let
us say, Section 2, enter the [TAG] that is listed in the QA Code column in your
find-in-page settings, normally [CTRL+F]. Enter the tag and press enter on your
computer once or twice depending on where you are to get to that section!
The walkthrough of this guide uses this format:
[Puzzle Piece 1]
Head right and grab the Puzzle Piece, then jump atop the trees.
[Letter K]
Head right along the treetops just after the first Puzzle Piece, then roll at
the end before jumping to reach the letter K.
[Secret Life Balloon]
Grab the DK barrel, then fling it at the wall to reveal a hidden cave. Inside
you will find a secret Life Balloon.
This method allows you to easily find all the hidden collectibles even when you
don't read the descriptions since you know that if the Letter K comes after P1,
you can narrow down on the search area.

[Secret Life Balloon]
Instead of heading right as usual, head back inside the plane cockpit to your
left to grab the Life Balloon inside it before you start your adventure.
[Puzzle Piece 1]
Head right from the starting point and slide down the water slide. You'll now
fall down into a pond. Instead of swimming to the right, head left. Go to the
airplane debris and swim into it to let it sink and reveal a secret area with
the first Puzzle Piece inside.
[Letter K]
Swim right and head towards the dock which is a wooden platform on the right.
Above ground, head right and use the leaf platforms to reach K in between the
two leaf platforms.
[MOAR BANANAS! (not a typo)]
When you come across the destroyable stone platform, destroy the final one to
reveal a path to an area with 9 banana bunches.
[Puzzle Piece 2]
Head right and you will notice a platform high in the air with a bulb. We can
get to it by heading to the right a bit more and wait for the vine-like enemy
and its platform to lower. Hop onto it, then head left to reach the area. You
know what to do, just ground pound it to reveal Puzzle Piece 2.
[Puzzle Piece 3]
Head right and you'll be introduced to the pluck move, which replaces blowing
from Returns. Pluck the ground below to allow the first platform to drop then
head onto the platform and pluck again there to reveal the 2nd platform which
has another pluck plug (which is what I will call them from now on). Pluck it
to reveal a thingy which will float around for a while. Collect all the tasty
bananas it leaves behind to spawn... Puzzle Piece 3!
[1st Checkpoint]
Head right past the area with Puzzle Piece 3 and walk past the stand with the
pig to trigger the Checkpoint, afterwards pluck the next plug from the ground
to be able to proceed.
[Puzzle Piece 4]
Head right and when the vine enemy goes up, ground pound the blue platform to
reveal a hidden area underground which leads to Puzzle Piece 4.
[Puzzle Piece 5]
Immediately after, head back left and climb onto the vine enemy platform then
jump to the left to reveal a secret area with Puzzle Piece 5.
[Letter O]
Head right & navigate your way among the falling platforms and make it to the
end. Ground pound the bulb to reveal a heart if you're running low. Drop down
into the swimming area again, this time immediately go above ground & head to
the rightmost platform. Roll jump right to get O below the upper platform.
[The Mangrove Tree]
Head right and follow the path, avoiding the enemies. At the far right, there
is another pluck plug. This time, keep pulling until the plant behind it goes
below the ground. A second later, a huge mangrove tree that also has a Barrel
Cannon. Use the leaf platforms to reach it.
[Puzzle Piece 6]
Along the way, aim carefully to get Puzzle Piece 6 circling the third cannon,
if you miss it this time you get a second chance, but the game won't be that,
you know, merciful or forgiving as you proceed.
[Letter N]
When you get to the 4 Barrel Cannons that change direction, on the first one,
aim towards the left one to get the Letter N in mid-flight, then proceed. You
will also come across a Life Balloon which will floating past the next set of
cannons, so grab that if you can.
[2nd Checkpoint]
Head right and trigger the 2nd Checkpoint, then use the DD barrel if you have
lost Diddy, then proceed right.
[Puzzle Piece 7]
Head right and jump past the spiked gap then continue right. You'll then come
across a lot of crates. Destroy the third column of crates with the snowflake
icons to drop down into a hidden area. Wait for the pigs to throw out all the
bananas (patience is a virtue) and they'll give you Puzzle Piece 7.
[Letter G]
Head right and you'll come across two bulls-eye panels. Head past it and grab
the Tuck (penguin) after defeating it, then throw it at the bulls-eye to spin
the platform and reveal the Letter G on the other side
[Puzzle Piece 8]
Head back left and use the new platform to reach the higher swinging platform
on the left, then roll jump off of that to the left towards the Barrel Cannon
which will blast you to a bonus room. Grab all the bananas in the room within
30 seconds to get Puzzle Piece 8.
[Heart]
Head right and pluck the plug from the ground beneath the platforms to reveal
a Heart, then use the platforms to reach the ledge above.
[Puzzle Piece 9]
Head right, ground pound the panel and enter the Barrel Cannon. DON'T GO INTO
THE GOAL BARREL YET. Head right past it then roll jump past the edge to reach
a hidden area, then pluck the plug from the ground to get Puzzle Piece 9.
[Goal Barrel]
Afterwards, hit the Goal Barrel!

[Puzzle Piece 1]
Immediately, head left from the starting area and ground pound to destroy the
stack of boxes, then pluck the plug from the ground to get Puzzle Piece 1.
[Puzzle Piece 2]
Head right past the first buoy and use the grabbable (inventing words!) grass
to get past the spiked pit. You can head left and drop off from the left edge
from the grabbable grass to get a single banana coin, then continue right.
Drop off and jump on the turtle, then use its shell to kill the bird enemy on
the buoy. Jump into the water and swim to the bottom-right corner of the area
to see Puzzle Piece 2 hiding in the seaweed.
[Letter K]
Grab on the grabbable grass section, then head right before dropping off near
the edge. Kill the penguin enemy, then throw the DX barrel to get Dixie Kong,
who hasn't shown up in a DK game in ages, to join you! Head right, then cross
on to the upper side of the wooden crates in the air using Dixie's hairspin.
Once on the upper side, just head on over to the other crate to get the first
KONG letter, K.
[Puzzle Piece 3]
Drop off from the crate, then head right a short ways until you come across a
thin floor tile different in material from the rest of the ship. Ground pound
it to fall into one of the game's many bonus rooms, then collect all there is
to get inside the room within the time to get the third Puzzle Piece.
[BANANAS!]
Head right, then drop off into the water and swim under the boat to get a BIG
banana bunch, the variety with 20 bananas! Now swim under the sharks and head
back ashore.
[Letter O]
You might have gotten more bananas, but you've missed the Letter O. Backtrack
across the hanging wooden platforms, then collect the Letter O in midair.
[1st Checkpoint]
If you need to, ground pound the banana plant under the rock to get one heart
then head right to trigger the checkpoint.
[Puzzle Piece 4]
Roll into the penguins, then hang on to the grabbable grass and head far left
then jump towards the rock on the left which is hiding the level's 4th puzzle
piece.
[Puzzle Piece 5]
Continue heading right past the two bird enemies then ground pound the banana
plant to reveal a punching bag. Drop off, then jump on the helmet penguin and
throw him at the bag to reveal Puzzle Piece 5.
[Puzzle Piece 6]
Continue right into the next area, then use the spring platform in the middle
to reach the high up grabbable grass, then head right.
Grab the Life Balloon in midair before dropping off into the swimming section
of the level. Break past the first wooden barrier, then swim down. Break this
next wooden barrier, then collect all the bananas inside the area to get #6.
[Letter N]
Continue swimming right, then when the path splits into two take the top path
to get the Letter N.
[BANANAS!]
After collecting the Letter N, kill the fish enemy, then jump into the alcove
above and collect all the bananas inside to spawn 6 Banana coins!
[Puzzle Piece 7]
Immediately after, break one of the wooden crates to get Puzzle Piece 7.
[2nd Checkpoint]
You'll have to attack the fish enemy 3 times to defeat it as its blocking the
way. Now swim up and break the wooden barrier then the crates to proceed back
ashore. Now head past the checkpoint to trigger it.
[Puzzle Piece 8]
Drop off into the water and swim past the chest to open it and spawn Piece 8.
[SECRET EXIT ALERT!]
If you want to, drop off into the water just after the first buoy. Swim using
DK and Dixie Kong to swim faster by holding A to get past the strong current.
Then swim into the portal and you'll find the Secret Exit, but you will miss:
(1) Puzzle Piece 9 and (2) Letter G.
[Puzzle Piece 9]
If you chose not to use the secret exit, get onto the boat with a spring. Now
collect all 4 columns of bananas to get the ninth and final Puzzle Piece.
[Letter G]
Immediately after, grab on to the grass overhead to collect the Letter G.
[Goal Barrel]
Past the big propeller, use your spring on the boat to finish off the level!
