=============================================================================== --------------------------------SUPER STAR WARS-------------------------------- ---------------------------------Secrets Guide--------------------------------- ----------------------------------Version 1.00--------------------------------- -------------------Copyright (C) 2005: Josiah Daniel Plummer------------------- =============================================================================== This guide deals only with the great secrets of Super Star Wars. The secrets included herein are, for the most part, obscure and very difficult to discover. As well, the majority of them yield Extra Lives or Blaster Power-ups. There are no secrets included that deal solely with Large Hearts, because there are so many of them that are hidden in the game, and I am sure many people know where they are by now (such as the two Large Hearts in the alcove just prior to the fight with the Mutant Womprat). Since this guide is exclusively for very good secrets, only eight are included. This guarantees you one thing: The only secrets in this guide are the damn good ones. ================= TABLE OF CONTENTS ================= I. - Secret 1: A Blaster For 10 Scorpions II. - Secret 2: Why Kill 50 Womprats? III. - Secret 3: I Wouldn't Jump In Just Yet IV. - Secret 4: Keep Going Left V. - Secret 5: Advance? Retreat! VI. - Secret 6: That Ledge Must Have Some Purpose... VII. - Secret 7: Lives, Lives, And... More Lives! VIII. - Secret 8: Take A Detour While Rescuing The Princess IX. - My Top 3 Secrets X. - Conclusion ----------------------------------------- I. - SECRET 1: A BLASTER FOR 10 SCORPIONS ----------------------------------------- PRIZE: 1 Blaster Power-up WHAT TO DO: At the beginning of Level 1 (Dune Sea) do not go anywhere. Wait for a Scorpion to pop out of the rock that's right next to you. When one dies, kill it. Continue this process for nine more Scorpions. When the tenth is killed, a Blaster Power-up will appear. ------------------------------------- II. - SECRET 2: WHY KILL 50 WOMPRATS? ------------------------------------- PRIZE: 1 Blaster Power-up and 2 Large Hearts WHAT TO DO: In Level 1 (Dune Sea) there is an area dominated by Womprats. One solitary Scorpion also resides here, near a large skeleton in the background. This is where you want to be. All you have to do is stand still and kill every Womprat you see. After 50 have been killed, two Large Hearts surrounding a Blaster Power-up will form in midair. NOTE: Sometimes this secret gets messed up and only two Large Hearts form, or sometimes only one Large Heart. The chances of getting all three items seems to be better if you jump around and shoot at the air while killing the Womprats. -------------------------------------------- III. - SECRET 3: I WOULDN'T JUMP IN JUST YET -------------------------------------------- PRIZE: 1 Extra Life and 1 Blaster Power-up WHAT TO DO: At the end of Level 3 (Outside Sandcrawler), there is an opening on the top of the Sandcrawler which you must jump into to complete the level. In- stead of jumping in, stand in front of it and shoot straight up into the air. A Blaster Power-up and Extra Life will appear. ------------------------------- IV. - SECRET 4: KEEP GOING LEFT ------------------------------- PRIZE: 1 Extra Life, 2 Blaster Power-ups and 2 Large Hearts WHAT TO DO: In Level 4 (Inside Sandcrawler), one of the most difficult levels in the game, there is an area about 1/3 into the game in which spikes cover the ground and mounted ion blasters shoot at you. The entire sequence forces you to head to the left the entire time. At the end, a shaft leads down into the heart of the level. Instead of jumping down the shaft, jump to the left and into the wall to uncover a hidden passageway. Continue running to the left until you end up in a room with an Extra Life, two Blaster Power-ups and two Large Hearts. A flamethrower is mounted in the top-left corner of the room, but it shouldn't be much more than a nuisance. -------------------------------- V. - SECRET 5: ADVANCE? RETREAT! -------------------------------- PRIZE: 1 Extra Life WHAT TO DO: In Level 5 (Land of the Sandpeople), there is an alcove situated at the point where Sandpeople start to appear. To the right of this alcove is a rock jutting out of the ground. For this secret to work, you must first jump over the rock and stand on the ground to its right. Next, jump back over the rock and head into the alcove. Shoot the top-left corner and an Extra Life will appear. ---------------------------------------------------- VI. - SECRET 6: THAT LEDGE MUST HAVE SOME PURPOSE... ---------------------------------------------------- PRIZE: 1 Extra Life WHAT TO DO: A little further ahead of Secret #5 is a rock that rises and sinks vertically. It allows you to jump onto a high ledge, which ultimately leads to the first area of the level where you must jump along faulty rocks in the sky. DO NOT JUMP DOWN FROM THIS LEDGE! Do you see that Jawa to the northeast on that suspended ledge? Kill it and then jump onto that platform. Next, shoot the air northwest of you to unveil an Extra Life. If you can't find it, simply face to the left, jump and shoot until it appears. ------------------------------------------------- VII. - SECRET 7: LIVES, LIVES, AND... MORE LIVES! ------------------------------------------------- PRIZE: 7 Extra Lives DRAWBACK: Firearm status is reduced to Blaster. WHAT TO DO: There are two areas in Level 5 (Land of the Sandpeople) in which you must navigate across faulty rocks while high in the sky. Quite a perilous task, indeed. The first area is relatively simple compared to the second, which has Mynocks who are more than happy to knock you off a rock. When you come to the second area, simply walk off the cliff and hug to the left. You will land on a small ledge leading into a very secretive room with a suspended ledge in its center. Large rocks will begin falling from the ceiling, but you can stop them by standing on the center ledge. Now shoot around the room to make Extra Lives appear. There are seven total. Once you are done you are forced to commit suicide, demoting your firearm to Blaster. NOTE: You can accumulate as many Extra Lives as you want by continuously enter- ing this room. ----------------------------------------------------------- VIII. - SECRET 8: TAKE A DETOUR WHILE RESCUING THE PRINCESS ----------------------------------------------------------- PRIZE: 3 Blaster Power-ups and 3 Large Hearts WHAT TO DO: In Level 12 (Rescue of the Princess) there are vertical shafts that you must transcend to continue on your journey. The last shaft leads to the fi- nal corridor of the level, where you face the Detention Guard Boss. Get to the top of this shaft and then jump down, hugging to the left. You will push your- self inside of a hidden room that contains three Blaster Power-ups as well as three Large Hearts. ---------------------- IX. - MY TOP 3 SECRETS ---------------------- #3: KEEP GOING LEFT This is one of the best secrets in the game because not many people decide to randomly push to the left while jumping down the shaft. Plus, it contains so many goodies that success against the boss is almost a given. #2: TAKE A DETOUR WHILE RESCUING THE PRINCESS I actually discovered this secret the day I created this guide. I was using the Invincibility cheat to go wherever I wanted. I was exploring the innards of Level 12 and discovered this room. I was amazed. Three Blaster Power-ups alone is incredible, but three Large Hearts in addition to that? This means if you began the level as Chewbacca or Han Solo you are guaranteed the Plasma Rifle. #1: LIVES, LIVES, AND... MORE LIVES! The sheer fact that this secret grants you seven Extra Lives in a game where Extra Lives are considerably rare makes this the greatest secret of Super Star Wars. However, what really cements this secret in as #1 is the fact that you can re-enter the room as many times as you want, granting yourself all of the Extra Lives you want. --------------- X. - CONCLUSION --------------- This guide is Copyright 2005 to Josiah Daniel Plummer.
