------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction............................................................(INTRO) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello there! I am back to write my second walkthrough. Once again, it is the newest game from the Rhythm Heaven series, Rhythm Heaven Fever. Like I said in my previous guide, I love me a good rhythm game and without a doubt, the Rhythm Heaven series always has an excellent soundtrack and quirky visuals that will always pull me in. After power-playing through the entire game on launch day and spending come casual time with it, I think it's time I write up a guide for this one. I thank you for checking this guide out and I hope to be of some service. Enjoy. Also, you like the header I gave this? It's my first time doing something like that, so I hope it's acceptable. Anyway, on with the guide! If you want to post this guide wherever, go ahead. As long as I'm still credited and this guide stays the same, you don't need my permission to use it. I got tired of having to say yes to all those e-mails asking if they could use my Rhythm Heaven guide. Now that I'm not so self conscious about other people using my stuff, I don't care as much! If you'd like to send me a tip, notify me of a spelling/grammar error or have some interesting bit of trivia for something, please tell me by either sending me a message on GameFAQs or sending me an email at [email protected] You will be given full credit, whether I already knew it but it slipped my mind or if it was genuinely something I had no idea about. And before you go off, I must thank you for taking the time to read this guide. Enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is this game?......................................................(WATGM) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhythm Heaven Fever (Minna no Rhythm Tengoku) is the third installment to the Rhythm Heaven series of games, the first being Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA, unfortunately not released outside of Japan, and Rhythm Heaven for the DS, a.k.a. Rhythm Tengoku Gold in Japan. The game is made by the same people who worked on the well-known WarioWare titles and it shows. The super simple graphics and the fast paced gameplay are retained in rhythm form. Music is supplied by Tsunku, a well known Japanese vocalist and now composer. That's it. That's basically all you really need to know about Rhythm Heaven Fever. No plot, just short mini-games.... did I mention it's hard? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General How to Play.....................................................(HOWTO) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The game is much simplier when comparing to the two previous titles. This game uses only two inputs for actual stages: Pressing A and pressing A and B together. That's it. No D-pad, no motion control, on 1 or 2 buttons. Just A and B. Some games only use the A button, where some only use the A+B input. Of course, you can expect some games to use both A and A+B inputs. Super simple, and yet so much variety. The menus can be navigated with either the D-pad or pointing it at the screen. This is the only instance of motion control/D-pad use in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Getting Started.........................................................(GTSRT) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So when you start it up, you'll be greeted with a girl telling you to "Press A and B!" with some upbeat title screen music. When you do, you'll be taken to the file select screen. Fever has 4 files instead of the DS's 3. Selecting a file will show you a ton of "labels." This is what your file will be called sintead of the usual name entry. You can also choose a Mii that has been saved onto your Wiimote. Feel free top choose whichever you like. As a heads up, you can't choose a label or Mii that's already been chosen, so you'll have to choose something else. Once you choose, just like that, you'll be thrown into the game with a greeting and a Rhythm Test! After you get that over with, time to play the first game!... if you're not reading this anyway. I still have stuff I need to go over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File Select.............................................................(FILES) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why didn't I put this with Getting Started? Well... I don't know, but I'm putting it here anyway. So like I said before, there are 4 files. Whatever file you chose will have your label or Mii with "Flow" and "Medals" beside it. Flow is how the game measures your rhythmical sense. It can rage from 20 to 140. It'll slowly build up as you unlock and play games. You don't really need to worry about it as you won't get anything special for maxing it at 140. I get into medals later. Selecting your file will give you 4 buttons. The giant "Start" should be obvious, as well as the smaller "Back" button in the lower left which would bring back to the file select. The lower middle will be "Delete." If you delect this, it'll give the option to press and hold 1 and 2 for 3 seconds to delete that file. Finally, in the bottom right, there's "Change." Selecting it will give you the option to change your label/Mii to something different. Again, like selecting a new file, you can't change your label/Mii to one that has already been chosen. That way, there can't be two "Me"s hanging around or something. Makes each file unique I guess. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rankings................................................................(RANKS) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like in previous Rhythm Heaven games, there are 5 ranks that you can get, all with different requirements. Perfect: The best rank you can get in the game. This is obtained by not making a single mistake while playing a stage. The catch is that you can't get Perfects whenever you like. You can only get Prefects after you've gotten a Superb rank on a game and only when the game gives you a chance to. Once it gives you the option to try for perfect, you'll have three chances. If you decide to play a different game when the chance arises, you'll lose one of your three chances. If you do get a Perfect, you'll be rewarded with a little "P" medal, replacing the Superb medal, along with a gift for your success. What you get varies from game to game, but strive to Perfect them all! Superb: The best normal rank you can get. This will be awarded to you after you play a perfect/near perfect run of a stage. You'll be rewarded with a medal which unlocks extras like Rhythm Toys and Endless games, which I'll get into later. This will also allow you to move onto the next game. You can tell you get this rank when it gives you 2 or 3 lines of high praise. These lines tell you the most important parts of that game, sometimes they're vague, sometimes it's very specific things. I myself am not too sure when it's vague things, but that's how the game shows you get a Superb. ... but still just... OK: A bit lengthier in name, but is the "Just OK" rank of this game. It means of all the requirements, you failed to meet one of them to get a Superb rank. You excelled it certain parts, but maybe some others you just can't get a grip on it, but you can still get a few. This is what the game awards you if that happens to you. You'll still get to pass onto the next game if that makes you feel any better. OK: Again we have the OK rank. It's just like "Just OK" in terms of it'll open the next game for you, but you'll get the "Eh. Good enough," text for your post-game lines of comments. It means you didn't have any particular high points, but none of them were exactly low enough to warrent a Try Again. Try Again: The rank that won't do anything for you. If you get this, it means you just couldn't handle something in that game to the point where it couldn't give you any sort of compensation. However, from what I've seen, if you still do good enough at some parts, there will be some blue text at the bottom giving you some praise for the part where you did acceptionally well. Along with that, a green speach bubble will pop up in the lower left screen saying "You did pretty well! Keep trying!" Nice little motivational thing they did. If you just can't pass it, there might be hope for you yet, though I'll get to that in the Cafe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flow....................................................................(RFLOW) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was debating whether to bring this up, but I might as well. You see it fluctuating after every game you play, so perhaps some of you wonder what it means. Flow is basically the game's way of measuring your sense of rhythm. How well you do in games reflects upon the Flow. Aced all the games? You'll probably be sitting pretty at the high 130's. Not doing too well and intimidated by your Flow going down? Don't worry! Flow doesn't really mean anything. I mean, yeah it's the game measuring you rhythm skills, but it doesn't DO anything. You have horrendously low Flow? Nothing happens. Incredibily high Flow? Nothing happens. The highest Flow possible is 140. The lowest is 20, which is only obtainable by doing absolutely nothing in Hole in One on a brand new file a.k.a. it's the only game you can play in said file. How to obtain the highest Flow is pretty finicky. Even to those who have gotten a Perfect rank on everything, myself included, may be stuck in the high 130's. I'm not 100% sure how Flow works, but from what I can guess, Perfects still allow miniscule mistakes that otherwise wouldn't even be noticed by humans. Heck, it might not even be that. I've seen my Flow go up after I barely miss one thing in a game. Perhaps the game keeps track of certain parts of the games you play and awards Flow for getting said parts just right. Who knows? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage Select............................................................(STGSL) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So now you're at the stage/game select screen. You'll be able to see all the games and extras you've unlocked. First there's normal games. They'll always appear in sets of 5, but you'll only ever play the first game of that set until you get one of the approving ranks I had just mentioned. After you do, the next will open, and the next and so on. Once you beat all 5 games in that set, the next will show up and it'll keep going for a bit. TO the left, once you unlock them, will be all the extras you can get. I'll get into those at a different part of this guide. At the bottom, you'll see your label/Mii, you're Flow and the number of Medals you have. The bottom left will have a curving arrow that will take you back to the title screen if you select it. When you first start up the game, you won't have it until later, but in the bottom right, will be an arrow pointing down, which will take you to the Two-Player games. I will also elaborate on this later in the guide. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Main Game...............................................................(MAING) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like I did in my Rhythm Heaven guide, I'll give my thoughts on each set of games and for each game I'll use the following format. In-game Message: (the message in the popup window before playing that game) Personal Description:(my personal description on the game at hand) Personal Thoughts: (any thoughts I have on mind about this game, does not need to be read) Order of Games: (Remix stages only) Hit or Miss: (tell you how to notify if you're doing it right or outright screwing up) Tips: (general tips that may or may not help improve your performance) Perfect Get: (what get from a Perfect rank) Rank Messages: A difference from my Rhythm Heaven guide is that I'm not going to tell you what to expect, pattern wise in a game/Remix. It's really too much for me and in the end seems kind of pointless since I can't really show you the timing for it. Better that you see it for yourself. For Hit or Miss, I'll set up it as: Superb: (when you make no flaws) OK: (when you're off beat a little) Try Again: (when you're completely off beat or just miss it completely) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 1...................................................................(SET01) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first set actually has a supposedly strict game in it. Aside from that, they're all very fun. They're also very simple, only using either one or the other input. You'll also unlock some stuff if you get all the medals. Specifically the Cafe if you don't get any. You'll unlock it after you pass Hole in One. I think in general, you unlock the "Rhythm Toys" and "Endless Games" buttons. I'll go into that more later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hole in One.............................................................(G01-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: You know what will really improve your gold game? Timing your swings to music! Personal Description: A monkey and a mandrill are throwing golf balls at you! In time with the rhythm of course. They're training this golfer to be the best he can be. The monkey will throw the golf ball at a nice speed where you can see it traveling at you. The mandrill, however, will really chuck that thing at you. They both give your obvious cues as to when to hit the ball so there should be no problem. Personal Thoughts: So, I've always had this odd feeling that the different hole in one animations meant something. Like if it was a perfect chip in, that would mean you were 100% spot on and other stuff. Of course, that's not how it works, but I thought it would have been a nice touch. Obviously having different animations is a pretty nice touch to begin with. Hit or Miss: Superb: You hit both Monkey and Mandrill's golf balls into the hole, no problem. OK: You hit the golf balls, but they sray off to the side and land in the water. Try Again: You completely miss the golf balls and they travel off screen. When Mandrill chucks his at you, it'll stike your ankle, causing your character pain. Tip(s): Mainly, if you're having trouble, take note how all three characters, Monkey, Mandrill and yourself bounce to the beat of the song. There's no offbeat golf balls you have to worry about. Remember to press A when Mandrill makes that third sound. I hear his cue it as "One, two, HOI!~" So, press A when he says hoi.... small fry. To note for Perfect runs, and you'll notice this a lot in other games, you can press A whenever you want to swing you golf club. As long as you're not missing a golf ball or whatever, you're a-okay. Perfect Get: Golf Lessons (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Championship title, here we come! Just/OK: That was a great swing! Try Again: This is even more painful than it looks... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Screwbot Factory........................................................(G01-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Robot assembly is a precise task. You'll need to tighten the final screw just the right amount. Personal Description: So Rhythm Heaven shows off another robot based stage. You work a claw in this factory rather then a fuel pump. These robots, as suggested in the in-game message, need to have their screw tightened just right to be properly finished pressing and holding the A+B input. There are both grey and white screwbots, both of course have different timing. The grey screwbots need 3 beats to be fully screwed in while the whites only need 2 beats. Personal Thoughts: Did you know that there was originally some Japanese text on the crane that brings the unscrewed bots? I'm not sure what it said, but I guess it just wasn't important enough to be translated. Hit or Miss: Superb: You screw their heads in just fine, their little heart glowing. OK: You either don't screw their heads on completely and they're sad or you screw their heads on a little too much and their body start to crack. If your timing is off on grabbing them, they'll tilt a little and then move to the center of the claw. Try Again: You missed grabbing them with the claw in the first place, you didn't screw in their heads enough and they fall over or you screwed their heads in too much and they start spinning with the claw and fall over after you let go. If your timing is way off on grabbing them, you'll simply knock them over. Tip(s): Count the beats for each screwbot. Basically, let go of the grey bots on the 3rd beat and the whites on the 2nd. If it helps any, the screwbots do bounce while on the convayer belt to the beat of the music. They even bounce while you're screwing in their heads, it's just not as noticeable since you're done in a few beats anyway. Also to note, the crane that brings the bots on screen makes a different sound for both types. The grey screwbots make a "TSH-TOCK" sound while the white ones make a "KREE-KREE" sound over top the "TSH-TOCK" sound. Important to know that during a perfect, you can press A, B, and A+B whenever you want, so long as you're not screwing up your timing like knocking over over when trying to grab them. So yeah, that's happy. Perfect Get: Screwbot Factory (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Let's go protect the world! Just/OK: They're bigger than I expected! Try Again: We'll recycle these...right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See-Saw.................................................................(G01-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: The seesaw inspectors are here, doing important work to ensure the safety of our children. Serious business, you know. No shenanigans. Personal Description: Your friend, See, and yourself, Saw, are seesaw inspectors, obviously testing the seesaw. For this game you have to press A at the right time to land safely on the seesaw and launch See into the air. You guys test the outside and inside of the seesaw. The outside launches them into the air for 2 beats while the inside for only 1 beat. It gets pretty intense near the end, that's for sure. Personal Thoughts: I'll say it now, I have no idea what See and Saw are suppose to be. Just another product from the oddity that is WarioWare I suppose.... *clap, clap-clap, hey* Yes, they turn all spikey when they do a high jump, no I don't know what those smaller spike-things are and yes they do explode at the of the song. Hit or Miss: Superb: You land safely on the seesaw, no problems. When you turn all spikey and land, you make smaller spike things with happy faces and make a short-lived electic discharge.... somehow. OK: You slightly stumble/hit you head when landing, but nothing too serious. Try Again: You land directly on you butt/head, your eyes being replaced by X's. Tip(s): The tempo change might throw you off in this one. There's not a whole lot of advice I can give besides get a feel for the song. I'll gladly take any advice I get and put it up here. Very important to note is that during Perfect runs, if you press A when you shouldn't, like while you're on the seesaw and you're buddy is in the air, nothing will happen. As long as you don't incorrectly time your landing, you should be fine. Perfect Get: Partners (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: That's a GOOD seesaw... Just/OK: Nothing wrong with that one! Try Again: Is this thing on? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Double Date.............................................................(G01-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: It's your first date with the girl of your dreams! Also, some weasels are on a date! Don't let the double date be ruined by flying balls! Personal Description: You are a boy in school, and like the game says, on a.... interesting date with your crush. Along with out, some weasels decide to have a date in a conveniently placed where you're sitting. The weasels are at the mercy or soccer balls, basketballs and footballs. Being the cool guy you are, you kick away the balls so that they don't interupt the weasel couple. The soccer balls have easy on beat timing, they only bounce once, the basketballs bounce twice and the football also bounces 2 times but it a bit slower in terms of timing. All this set to a slow, relaxing song. Good luck. Personal Thoughts: So this is the strict one I mentioned in the set description and I myself haven't experienced this apparent strictness. I heard numerous times that people have missed only one ball and they failed to get a Superb rank. Missed as in they barely got it, not actually missed. I'll try this out for myself by purposefully missing/messing up a few. Hit or Miss: Superb: You hit the ball away, the weasel couple cheering you on. OK: You hit the ball, but your leg cramps up and the ball just bounces down, off the screen, the weasel couple looking surprised. Try Again: You missed the ball and the weasel couple go into their hole to dodge the ball and come back up, displeased. Your date also looks worried about the weasels. If you missed a football, it'd hit the orange weasel on the chin, the pink one worried about her date. Tip(s): You'll notice that, like in the other games, all the characters bounce to the beat of the music. However, this one is much slower, so in between each beat, add another. There's also the fact that around the middle of the stage, you'll get 2 soccer balls that are really offbeat. So if you're having troubles with those ones, or in fact any of them, here's a visual tip. All the sports balls have a shadow, like anything should. Right when they're starting to pass beyond the tip of your foot, press A. If you can't see that, then look at the grass. Basically the entire shadow of the ball should be on the grass by the time you kick it. For Perfect runs, you can actually get away with pressing A whenever you want, as long as you don't miss kicking a ball, you're free to kick as much as you want. I have noticed, however, that it seems harder to time and almost stupid to constantly be kicking with the beat. So just don't over do it with the kicks. Perfect Get: My Feelings (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: I've been wanting to tell you... Just/OK: I had a lovely time. Thank you. Try Again: I'm sorry to have to tell you, but... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 1.................................................................(REG01) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's got a tropical vibe, like a musical vacation. (There's no practice on this one, so be ready.) Personal Description: Like it says, there's no practice. Time to see if you can deal with switching games like crazy for Remix 1! Everything is graphically altered to have a Hawaiian vacation feel. Hole in One has them in fancy suits, Screwbot Factory has been placed high above a island resort, See and Saw have been changed into avacados... somehow and Double Date is taking place on a beach. No, they're wearing tropical shirts, they're not in swimsuits, sorry to disappoint. Interestingly enough, the golfer is hitting the golf balls to the island resort and the Double Date segments take place on the same island. I dunno about See-Saw segments though. Personal Thoughts: This is actually pretty fast for the first Remix. All I can say is perpare for some fast balls in the Double Date segments. Order of Games: Hole in One Screwbot Factory Double Date See-Saw Screwbot Factory Hole in One Screwbot Factory Double Date Hole in One See-Saw Double Date See-Saw Double Date Hole in One Double Date See-Saw Double Date Hole in One Double Date Tip(s): To start, Screwbot Factory has added clouds which happen to pulse to the beat of the music. Use this to your advantage if you're having trouble keeping time on this one. Also in the Screwbot Factory segments, you'll never get a white bot, just so you know. The normal grass is gone for this Remix, but even though it's harder to see, it still mostly applies. When the shadow of the ball is mostly over the grass, kick it. Perfect Get: Remix 1 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Your performance was like... a fine meal! Just/OK: Your performance was like... a tasty slice of cake. Try Again: Your performance was like... a small piece of hard candy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 2...................................................................(SET02) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You've made it to the second set, where apparently the bane of people's rhythmical existance stands. I'm not entirely sure why, but who am I to judge? I also guess the Remix is hard? Let's find out. As a bonus, once you beat Fork Lifter, you'll unlock Two-Player Mode! I'll get into that later though, so focus on the main game for now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fork Lifter.............................................................(G02-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Hungry? Hope you have good reflexes! Personal Description: I think having a better rhythmical sense is better than having good reflexes in this game. So basically, you have to catch orange peas with a fork as they're flicked to you from a massive distance away. The peas take 3 beats to reach you. Personal Thoughts: I love the little burger thet throw at you. It's also funny because it's fastfood. Get it? Hahaha.... sorry. Hit or Miss: Superb: You catch the peas right on the tip of the fork and eat them, no problem. OK: You catch the peas in between the prongs on the fork and eat, though you kind of choke on them and cough. Try Again: You out right miss them and for some reason a crowd goes "Awwww..." Tip(s): As the game goes along, it starts throwing peas at you where the first is on the offbeat. Shake your wrist as normal and right after you shake it for a beat, press A to catch the off beat. There aren't any visuals that go to the beat for this one, so yeah. The practice does help some. Imagine it saying "One, two, go!" when it flicks a pea at you. That might help you get the hang of pressing A at the right time. If you get the tiny little burger they toss at you, the guy will make a rather loud chewing noise, like he's eating something really crunchy. This has distracted me before, so stay focused. It throws 2 peas at you after the burger. While in a Perfect run, pressing A whenever won't make you lose a perfect. As you don't screw up trying to catch a pea, then you're free to press A as much as you like. Perfect Get: Fork Lifter (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: So full! So satisfied! Just/OK: I could eat two more dinners! Try Again: Blood sugar...so...low... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tambourine..............................................................(G02-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Ready to play a little Simian Says on the tambourine? Personal Description: So you'll play a "Simon Says" rhythm game with a little monkey who's crazy about frogs for whatever reason. It's rather simple. Press A to shake the tambourine and A+B to smack it with your free hand. Personal Thoughts: If you can't keep the rhythm of a decently long pattern, you might find this a bit challenging. I can't help but feel that this one is rather easy. It's short and there's not a whole lot of variety in the patterns. I'll tell you in the tips. Hit or Miss: Superb: You shake the tambourine on your turn only and the monkey beams with joy, flowers and stars. Seriously cute, man. OK: The monkey will look a little worried as you go a little off tempo and sweat. Try Again: The monkey will again look worried and sweat a bit, but a frog will jump on screen and onto his head. Also happens when you shake/smack the tambourine when it's not your turn. Tip(s): So the main thing to remember here is that tt always alternates between 7 shakes and 4 shakes, 3 smacks. The pattern changes, yes, but it never changes how many times you need to press A or A+B. Also good to note is that when you do need to press A+B, it's always the same timing. It's always the last 3 beats of the pattern so you don't have to worry about it being some crazy offbeat mess. For a note about Perfects, at the very beginning and at the very end, where it's just you and the monkey bouncing to the beat of the music, you can press whatever you want. At no point in the game, between patterns or not, should you press anything, unless you wanna lose your Perfect chance, then by all means, go right ahead. Perfect Get: Tambourine (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: OOOOOOOK! Just/OK: Ook. Try Again: Ew. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Board Meeting...........................................................(G02-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: You finally made it to the big office! If you want to impress the chairman, follow your assistant's advice. Personal Description: You are a group of fancy pigs, sitting in swivle chairs to show off your "plans." You are the last pig in a row of four. You have two plans. Plan A is to spin and then stop one at a time, meaning you stop last. Plan B is when you all spin and sthen stop at the same time. Your assistant will give the cue with a "One two-three!" A beat after that your need to stop. To stop your chair, all you need to do is press A. Personal Thoughts: I am very sad. This game is so awesome but it's so short. I wish they made it longer or something. Alas, it'll never be. Also, BOAR-d Meeting? I see what they did there. Hit or Miss: Superb: You stop on time and, if given enough time, all four of you will smile. If you did Plan B, the whole screen will shake and your assistant will lose her balance a little. OK: You're a little off tempo and don't stop correctly, snorting like a pig with surprise. You assistant looks over, not pleased. Try Again: You miss the timing completely and stop at the wrong time, your eyes becoming swirls. You assistant is tilts her head, displeased. Tip(s): No, you don't have to press A to start spinning. It spins on its own. For the last one, it puts a Plan B on an offbeat. Personally, I find it better to pay attention to the music since the button press matches up with the last note of the song. Aside from the last one, every other input is never on a offbeat. Your assistant also bounces to the beat of the music, so keep that in mind if you're having troubles with the timing. When going for a perfect, as long as you're not spinning, you can press A whenever you want to. Perfect Get: First-Day Orientation (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Congratulations, Mr. Chairman! Just/OK: Business is turning around! Try Again: Let's table this for now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monkey Watch............................................................(G02-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: This new watch works differently from most. You might want to read the manual to learn how to use it... Personal Description: It's a watch full of tiny monkeys! So, you're a monkey on the second hand, giving high-fives to monkeys that pop out of the clock. There are two kinds of monkeys you have to look out for; yellow monkeys and purple monkeys. The yellows are on every other beat. The purple monkeys are on the offbeats of 3 and 4 and have an audio cue of "Ooki oo ki, ki. Seems pretty simple enough.... problem? *trollface* Personal Thoughts: Yeah, this the game that apparently has stopped a lot of people Rhythm Heaven Fever. It's probably those "darn purple monkeys." I'll show a tip I found on YouTube if you still have troubles. ... And honestly, they look more pink than purple if you ask me, but you know what I mean. Hit or Miss: Superb: You successfully "slap the monkey" with a fulfilling "CLAP" sound. The purple monkey's high-five will cause some pink stars to appear and then fall. OK: You do give the monkey a high-five, but it doesn't make that nice clapping sound. Instead it's a light "dink" sound. Try Again: The monkeys will lower their heads in sadness. If you try and high-five at the wrong time, you'll make a "BOINK" sound. Tip(s): If you have a hard time getting back on beat, listen for the snare drum in the background, it's always hit when you need to press A for the yellow monkeys. Alright. So now for those purple monkeys. A good sir named Andrew Eisen made a video humorously titled "How to Spank the Monkey Watch in Rhythm Heaven Fever." Basically, in the video he says to alternate tapping your hands to the beat, starting with your left hand. On every 2 and 4, he taps with his right hand, the hand that holds the Wiimote. For the purple monkeys, since they're usually on the offbeats of 3 and 4, he goes "3 and 4 and," tapping his left hand on 3 and 4 his and right on the two ands. Still not quite getting it? Here's a link. Better if you just watched it for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbemmDN1mpk I guess it's also good to note that the audio cue for the purple monkeys, "Ooki oo ki, ki," makes it so you press A on the "ki ki" parts. Perfect Get: Ad Copy (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: This is without a doubt the cutest watch I've ever owned. Just/OK: Lunch should be ready right... now! Try Again: I'm so sorry I'm late! It was the monkeys' fault! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 2.................................................................(REG02) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's all about hard rock! Are you metal enough? (No practice.) Personal Description: This is a short Remix that indeed has a hard rock graphical change to the games. Fork Lifter is turned pink and instead of a guy eating, it's a girl, Tambourine changed the monkey to be a dark purple wearing a white suit and shades, Board Meeting is set in a darker room with a very young monkey as your assistant, and Monkey Clock is situated on famous London clock, Big Ben. The gernal atmosphere is quite dark. Personal Thoughts: It's less then a minute long but manages to be hard for I'm guessing Monkey Clock reasons. Order of Games: Monkey Watch Fork Lifter Board Meeting Monkey Watch Board Meeting Tambourine Monkey Watch Fork Lifter Board Meeting Tambourine Board Meeting Monkey Watch Fork Lifter Tip(s): Tambourine is a fully volley of 7 shakes then 7 smacks. If you listen to the guitar in the song, the Tambourine parts match the guitar for the most part. Keep in mind the Monkey Watch tip if you're still having trouble. I've noticed that when it switches from Monkey Watch to a different game, it usually throws you in there to try and catch you off guard, so be ready after each Monkey Watch segment. Perfect Get: Investigation Notes (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: You played like a... 12th-level golen rooster! Just/OK: You played like a... 2nd-level baby chick. Try Again: You played like a... 1st-level unhatched egg. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 3...................................................................(SET03) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 3... uh, nothing I can really note about this one to be honest. Oh wait, I'm lying. The Remix is awesome! And also the first game of the set might be hard as it's another "Simon Says" game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Working Dough...........................................................(G03-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Time to get to work! Follow your coworker's lead and move those thingies! Personal Description: Get ready to transport the "thingies." Yes, in this game you control two pieces of living dough. You have to pass the orbs over to the right. It's a "Simon Says" game, where it throws small white orbs and big brown orbs. You have to press A for the smaller orbs and A+B for the larger orbs to hit them across with your platform. Doing the opposite input for the orbs will yield.... interesting results. Oh hey, it's Mr. Game & Watch lifting a switch up and down. Fancy that. Watch. Personal Thoughts: This game has long patterns of 7+ orbs, usually of mostly smaller orbs, so get ready for it. So yeah, Game & Watch. I'm not really sure what purpose he serves really. Probably just there as a neato cameo. It's funny though when he gets on one of the bigger fuel orbs and you have to hit him across. Hit or Miss: Superb: You transport the "thingies" over to the other side no problem. OK: You hit the orb up, but it doesn't quite pass over and makes a "boink" sound. Try Again: The "thingies" just hit the top of your platform and make a "ding~" sound. You can also use the opposite input for the orbs, causing the small orbs to shatter and the big orbs to just fall "tong~". Mr Game & Watch will be displeased if he's still manning the switch. Tip(s): For perfects, even if you press A or A+B when you're not suppose to, you'll still be safe. You only need to worry about correctly timing stuff. Otherwise it's all fair game. Perfect Get: After Work (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: I made it to the dough planet! Just/OK: Escape Velocity! Not bad! Try Again: Not quite enough energy... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built to Scale..........................................................(G03-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Your help is needed down at the factor. We're assembling widgets by... You know what? Just try it out. Personal Description: What happens when they decide to combine Polyrhythm from the GBA and Built to Scale from the DS. They even use the pegs from Polyrhythm too. So they toss the pegs at you from either the left of right side of the screen. It's your job to press A when it gets to your... sping, lift thing. The part where it's like the original Built to Scale is where you have to hit the peg into the plates that "roll" on screen. Your platform will wind up when it gets to the proper timing. You need to press A+B to launch the peg at the right time to make widgets. Personal Thoughts: The game is very predictable but I get to that in the tips. I don't like the name. It's not only different than the original Built to Scale, but it also nver uses the musical scale like it did in the original. It was super lazy of the translators to not come up with a better name. I can understand since both Built to Scales were both called Assembly in Japanese, but still. Hit or Miss: Superb: You pass the peg on with a "TACK" sound. When you shoot the peg into the plates, it'll fit snuggly in there with a sound like flicking a spring style door stopper or like an arrow hitting something. OK: The peg it still passed on, but it makes a "weeeew~" sound, slightly wobbling in midair. When launching the peg, you graze it, making it fall down with a light "tick." Try Again: The peg will hit your platform with a "tick" and just fall off into the endless abyss of the factory. When shooting the peg, your platform springs out to early/late with a "deeeeew~" sound. Either that or you just don't press anything at all. Tip(s): Like I said, the game is very predictable. It always alternate between coming in from the right, having to press A twice and launch it and coming in from the left press A once and launch it. I never changes the pattern, just the tempo. That another thing, keep a watch out for the tempo. First it starts getting a little bit faster, then goes really slow, then goes back to a really fast speed after that. So yeah, stay vigilant! Don't press A early! Your platform won't go back down until the beat after you're suppose to hit it or the beat before a new peg is suppose to show up. To elaborate on the tip above, when trying for perfect, if your platform resets in time, you won't break your perfect. I don't know why you'd want to risk something where you only have a couple beats to do somethin like that, but go ahead, you crazy daredevil you! Perfect Get: Built to Scale (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Nothing like a job well done! Just/OK: I've earned a little break. Try Again: Not my best work... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Air Rally...............................................................(G03-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Keep the Rally going in this badminton game! Try not to let the birdie go out of bounds, though... Personal Description: The magic of playing a good game of badminton ina plane. You play as the dog, Baxter, in a nice rally of badminton with Forthington, the cat. It's basically a "keep the beat" game. On every other beat, you press A to swing your racket to pass the birdie back. Whenever Forthington signals you with a "BAH-BOM BOM BOM," you wait 3 beats before can hit it back to him. He'll usually count after he says his signal, so hit it back when he says 3. Careful, since you're in the clouds, you'll be flying through clouds which will block your vision. Good luck. Personal Thoughts: I love this one. I love it even more in English since Forthington's voice really complaments the song if you ask me. I also like the comment he gives at the end, depending on whether you hit the last one or not. Just to note, he won't count out the beats of his signal in training mode. It's actual game only. ... did anyone else see those birds? No? Just me? Hmmm... Hit or Miss: Superb: You rally perfectly, nothing wrong here. OK: You swing, but you graze the birdie making a "BOINK" sound, causing it to fall down into the sea~ Try Again: You just outright miss the birdie. Tip(s): Honestly, this is a very visually distracting game, especially with all the clouds and everything getting in your way. So perhaps its better if you just close your eyes for this one if you're having troubles. Have you noticed the pattern yet? For perfect runs, pressing A whenever is fine, as long as you're passing the birdie back to Forthington, which is ridiculous if you ask me. Perfect Get: Baxter & Forthington (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: The only way to play badminton! Just/OK: Let's concentrate on flying for now. Try Again: This won't end well... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Figure Fighter..........................................................(G03-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: It's the lastest in toy-boxer technology! Try him out in the ring for a few rounds. You'll be the tiny, inflatable champ in no time! Personal Description: You are an pump-action muscle doll.... what? That's what it is! So yeah, the muscle doll starts as being a scrawny figure, but when you press A, he becomes macho for a second. The doll will punch on his own and you need to pump him up at the right times for his punches to have any force behind it. There's a simple "Jab", a normal "One, two!", a fast "One-two!", and the triple "Go go go!"Also, for whatever reason, there's a crowd of people watch a toy just punch a bag. Personal Thoughts: I really like this game. It's the music and just the general idea behind it makes it so appealing to me. Hit or Miss: Superb: You pump up the doll no problem, the sandbag sways back from his punch. OK: You pump up the doll, but he only grazes the sandbag, making a light "picki" sound. Try Again: You pump up the doll at the wrong time and he ends up just smacking the sandbag as a scrawny doll. Tip(s): Like a lot of games, the crowd happens to bounce to the beat of the music and this game is a lot like a "keep the beat" kind of game as for most of the inputs, it's usually a jab to fill in the space. Careful of last second "One-two!" There's a lot of space between that and the last jab, but keep in mind the bouncing crowd. Also, if you completely miss it and want a superb, better get ready to try again! Yes, it immediately knocks you down to a Just OK rank if you miss it. For perfect runs, you can press A whenever you want and make that silly farting noise it makes. Even when winding up for a "One two!" or "Go go go!" when it narrows the screen, even then, you'll still be safe for a perfect. Blew my mind when I saw it didn't ruin my perfect. Perfect Get: Figure Fighter (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: A tiny, new world champion! Just/OK: This fighter's got potential. Try Again: Do we have any more batteries? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 3.................................................................(REG03) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's got lyrics, 'cause we realized we hadn't tried that yet! (No practice.) Personal Description: So, even though it they do indeed add lyrics, they neglect to mention that is kitchen themed! Working Dough is placed in a kitchen with the dough men are in pots, Built to Scale is just really colourful, Air Rally has the planes turned into flying cards and flying across a plane of floating dishes and kitchen utensils while wearing chef hats, and Figure Fighter has the doll on a plate with a chef hat, still punching a sandbag. Personal Thoughts: The best song, but that's just an opinion, all of the music is great. Fact is, this is my favourite lyrical song in Fever. Just the way it sounds is great and the translation was a nice surprise. Mr. Game & Watch is replaced with his cooking variant for this. How appropriate! A lot of missed potential with Figure Fighter. I mean, come on! He could have been punching some meat instead of the sandbag! I was displeased when I saw they didn't do more with that. Order of Games: Working Dough Figure Fighter Built to Scale Working Dough Figure Fighter Built to Scale Figure Fighter Air Rally Figure Fighter Air Rally Figure Fighter Air Rally Figure Fighter Air Rally Working Dough Built to Scale Working Dough Figure Fighter Built to Scale Figure Fighter Air Rally Figure Fighter Air Rally Figure Fighter Air Rally Working Dough Figure Fighter Built to Scale Tip(s): The Air Rally to Figure Fighter to Air Rally parts might give you some trouble. The transition fast and Figure Fighter doesn't give you much time to respond with its fast "One-two!"s. The first punch coincides with the Air Rally timing, all you need to do is add a second press of the A button on the offbeat next to that to catch the second punch. For the Built to Scale segments, it's not as predictable as it's standalone game. If you're more of a musical guy than a visual guy, you'll have a tough time if your TV speakers aren't very good. Since the sound doesn't have a definite change for what side it enters, listen to which side the sound it louder on. It's odd, yes, and I only figured that out since my TV has a headphone jack. Perfect Get: Song Lyrics 1 (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: You did well enough to... headline a stadium concert! Just/OK: You did well enough to... make your stage debut. Try Again: You did well enough to... be a singer someday. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 4...................................................................(SET04) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The set with the famed Wrestler Interview game. It's not called that anymore, but yeah, it's still pretty awesome. By the way, gotten use to pressing A+B? Good, 'cause now's your chance to show your A+B pressing skills since 3 of the 4 normal games use it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ringside................................................................(G04-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Live from ringside! We hear the champ's innermost thoughts and feelings after the match. Personal Description: You're a wrestler, getting interviewed by a reporter. You respond by either pressing A or A+B. The questions she asks you doesn't matter since you hear them as "Wubbadubbadubba, is that true?" Press A to respond with a "Eh," and a nod. When she says "WOAH, you go, big guy!", respond by pressing A twice to flex your biceps and smile. Finally, there are photographers that will shout "Pose for the fans!", you do so by pressing A+B to really show off your muscles. Personal Thoughts: So, this game probably equal to a meme now with all those parodies it has spawned. TF2, Old Spice, ponies... there's more than this, that's for sure, but that's all I remember off the top of my head. Pretty crazy stuff guys. Hit or Miss: Superb: You respond to the reporters "questions," flex when needed to and pose for the photographers, flashy lights and all, to problem. OK: You still nod to the reporters questions but you cough instead, you either miss the first or second part to your flex or you still pose and get a photographer to still take a picture but it'll be a greyed out instead of the flashy lights. Try Again: You don't answer the reporter at all, miss flexing or you don't pose for the fans at all. Alternatively, you can do exactly what you're not suppose to and just press A or A+B whenever to hilarious results. Tip(s): The wrestler bounces to the beat of the music and basically everything is on beat. The double A flex starts with an offbeat press, but it goes back on beat for the next press. Perfect Get: Wrestler's Weekly (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: No question (or opponent) is too tough for this guy! Just/OK: Go, go, go! Take him down! Try Again: Oh no! Not the mask! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Packing Pests...........................................................(G04-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Welcome to quality control! Product goes in the box. Anything else--just knock it away. Let's get to work! Personal Description: You are a working among tens, hundreds, thousands! (Okay, I don't really know, but whatever, there's a lot of guys in the background.) It's your job to catch the candy tossed at you and slap away the little spidery pests. Catching involves pressing A+B and slapping something away is just pressing A. There's also a cue, "Double up!", for when there will be a candy and two spiders tossed at you. Hope you don't have arachnophobia! Personal Thoughts: I really like this game because it's so odd. I count the catching to be the main command, and it's stuck with A+B, which is usually tacked onto the secondary command. It might throw you off since you're not use to it, but that's why I like it. And the music. Always the music. Hit or Miss: Superb: You catch the candy with a statisfying "THWOMP." You slap away those spiders with a nice "THWAK." OK: You close your hands to catch a candy, but it makes a "plink" sound. When you slap a spider, you mostly graze it and it also makes a "plink" sound. Try Again: The candy passes past your hands and hits you. When a spider is tossed, it passes onto you and hits you, causing you discomfort and panic. In contrast, you could catch the spiders or slap away the candy. The spider looks pretty pleased with itself. Tip(s): Those "Double up!" cues toss a candy at you on beat, but then the spiders are tossed on the offbeats, both of them. So be wary of them. There's no bouncing in this game that'll help with the visuals. If you're a musical guy, listen for the sound the candy and spiders make when being tossed on screen. The candy is a "TONK" sound, while the spiders make a high-pitch "Eh!" sound. (Which is actually kind cute, especially since they don't look like normal spiders.) This game allows you to press A or A+B whenever, as long as you don't screw up your timing or do the incorrect input for the timing. If you press A+B before your hands open up to release a piece of candy, you make the candy disappear. It pretty funny. Perfect Get: Packing Pests (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Completely spider free! Well done! Just/OK: Whew! Tough shift! Try Again: Wait! Is there ANY candy in here?! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Micro-Row...............................................................(G04-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Through the microscope, there's a whole other world! Personal Description: You are a small organism, in the sights on a microscope. You in the middle of two others. You must "march", as they call but I'll call it swimming, it to the beat of the song, being a "keep the beat" kind of game. Every other beat, you must press A to swim in time so you don't bump into the back of the one in front of you or be bumped into by the one behind you. There's also the little jingle, which sounds like a small bell ringing, that will cue you in to press A three times in a row to the beat. Personal Thoughts: I'm rather neutral about this game. It's actually kind like Munchy Monk but without the "T-two" command. Also these microbes look silly with their buck teeth, but I guess that's the whole point. Also, it's totally not a march, dude. Hit or Miss: Superb: You take a stroke, keeping in line, not disturbing anyone around you. Also, halfway through the game, you'll start leaving behind a trail of brightly coloured shapes. OK: You swim forward like normal, but instead of the normal sound, it'll be the traditional "BOINK" sound. Your microbe looks displeased with your timing. Try Again: You outright swim at the wrong time, hitting the one in front of you or you just don't swim at all and get hit by the one behind you. Tip(s): Along the game, you'll notice other microbes appearing. I guess if it helps you seeing them swim in time with the beat, then go ahead. Also, for the triple stroke, a beat before needed to press A 3 times, you'll see that they ready their arms over their heads. If that helps you indicate when to press A 3 times, then do iiiiiit. If you're having toruble, listen to the music. Everytime you need to press A, there'll be a snare drum hit, or whatever it is they're using. You'll hear it. It might be hard to hear since there's SFX going on at the same time, but if you listen for it, you can hear the snare drum being hit when you need to press A. Perfect Get: Micro-Row (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: The discovery of a lifetime! Just/OK: We'll need more research. And maybe a dance party. Try Again: I thought I saw something, but... it's nothing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Samurai Slice...........................................................(G04-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: An army of evil spirits has invaded a peaceful village. Only a lone samurai can stop them. What dastardly deeds are they up to? Personal Description: This is basically the toe-tapping samurai from the GBA game!.... just with slightly less amount of toe-tapping. But anyway, you are a samurai, ready to vanquish some evil spirits. You either press A to swing your sword and slice them in two or cut up a flurry of them with your "whirlwind slice" by pressing and holding A+B at the right time. The single spirits have red eyes and vary in sizes that make a "fft fft fft" sound, but the group of spirits have green eyes and stay small that make a "woop woop woop woop" sound.... I'm trying the best I can to describe the sound! Can you retrive the young boy's pinwheel? Personal Thoughts: I love it, and it's pretty much because it's a samurai game. Interesting the note, the game went through some changes before it was released. In some prerelease gameplay footage of this game, the story that blocks your view shows both the girl and the boy having pinwheels. In turn, there are two evil spirits and swoop down and steal both of the pinwheels. In the end, you reclaim one of the pinwheels and get left with a "To be continued..." to show that the second one would be based around getting the second pinwheel back. If you noticed, only the boy has a pinwheel in the story, so they obviously cut that idea for whatever reason. Sure, it doesn't do anything to the gameplay, but it's some interesting bit of trivia. Don't believe me? Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O420AQ8sYI&t=2m6s Hit or Miss: Superb: You skillfully slice that demon-I mean evil spirit in two like butter. The group of spirits are easily cut up by your whirlwind slice. OK: You simply grave the spirit, making a "tick" sound as it flies away. Almost the entire group of spirits are cut up, but you just graze the first/last one with the same "tick" sound as it just lazily falls down, off screen. Try Again: The spirits knock you over while you let out a hilarious scream. The group of spirits shoot forward and bite you while let out a combo of said scream. You also can try the opposite inputs, but the whirlwind slice just smacks away the single spirits, while a single slice does absolutely nothing to the group of spirits. Tip(s): This is a good game to just close your eyes and play since in the middle, the game covers the screen with a story before getting into the last bit of it. The single spirits either make a "fft fft ftt" or a "fft fft fft fft" for one slice or two slices respectively. The story, however, doesn't completely block your view, as it's kind of transparent, but it still quite the hassle to see what's coming your way. As the game goes along and starts spawning bigger single spirits, the "fft ftt fft" sound will sound more and more like a "Heh heh heh" and later "Geh geh geh"-like sounds. I guess anything that doesn't sound like the group of spirits is the single spirits. The samurai bounces to the beat of the song, and there are never any offbeat slices, so you don't have to worry about any surprise spirits. Something important to note is that if you miss/barely miss the last spirit, the one carrying the pinwheel on its head, you'll automatically get a Just OK rank. It doesn't matter if you did the rest of it perfect, if you miss the last one, you're gonna have to try again for a Superb. When going for a perfect, doing slices and whirlwind slices whenever doesn't kill you perfect. As long as you keep cutting up the evil spirits, then you're free to add in extra attacks. Perfect Get: Samurai Slice (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Thanks, mister! You're the best! Just/OK: I hear he's an OK samurai... Try Again: Mister... Mister! Are you all right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 4.................................................................(REG04) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's got a traditional Japanese feel. (No practice.) Personal Description: Indeeeeed, the description describes it perfectly. Ringside has it to you're a ninja and the reporter is in a kimono (a geisha?), Packing Pests has you behind sliding doors instead of a cubicle, Micro-Row has cherry blossoms instead of bubbles appearing, and Samurai Slice is set on top of a traditional Japanese castle. Personal Thoughts: Just something interesting to note, the beginning sentence before the actual Remix starts changes. Sometimes it's roads, other times it's moutains. I'm not sure if it can be anything else, but if there are, let me know. Also, that little sword on the back of the wrestler is hilarious. You'll find out what I mean when he turns around in one of his poses. Order of Games: Samurai Slice Ringside Samurai Slice Ringside Micro-Row Packing Pests Ringside Packing Pests Samurai Slice Ringside Samurai Slice Ringside Samurai Slice Ringside Samurai Slice Micro-Row Samurai Slice Ringside Packing Pests Ringside Packing Pests Samurai Slice Tip(s): Remember, remember, remember! Packing pests starts with A+B then A and keeps alternating between them. Never does it start with A. Train you brain to press A+B when you hear that "TONK" sound those candies make. Perfect Get: Remix 4 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Right now, the ninja... has completed his mission! Just/OK: Right now, the ninja... continues his secret mission. Try Again: Right now, the ninja... has to watch out for guards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 5...................................................................(SET05) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, set 5.... it has one of my least favourite games of Fever. It also has 2 "keep the beat" games as well, both of which are pretty awesome, so I guess it balances out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Catch of the Day........................................................(G05-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: It's a perfect day for fishing. The best anglers don't just know about casting and bait--they learn the fish's personalities. Personal Description: You play as Ann Glerr, the fisher catching the fish. To catch a fish, all you need to do is simply press A. There are three types of fish you're going to encounter; the Quicknibble (orange fish), who takes 2 nibbles and bites, to the beat of the music, the Pausegill (yellow fish), who takes 3 fast nibbless, waits a beat and then tries to bite and the Threefish (blue fish), who licks the bait quickly 4 times, waits 3 beats and tries to bite of the off beat of the 3rd beat. A tricky that Threefish be. Happy fishing! Personal Thoughts: I love how they dubbed the Threefish to be "OM NOM NOM" instead of what it originally was, which I'm sure was some equivilant of what we got. Hit or Miss: Superb: You catch the fish, said fish trying to swim away. OK: You just barely graze them, not quite catching them, making a "dink." Try Again: You completely miss the timing with a "BOINK" and the fish swims away. Alternatively, the fish successfully eats the bait and laughs at you. Stupid fish.... Tip(s): In the training, for the Pausegill and the Threefish, they give you some cues to start out so you can get the hang of the timing and they even give you the same cues in the actual game on the first Pausegill and Threefish you see. I feel that remembering how they say those cues will help you time your button presses. If you pay close attention, whenever you successfully catch a fish, they always completely bite the hook before getting away. Even though the timing window is small, if you feel comfortable with that, try it out. This shouldn't be too much trouble, but when the stingray and the school of anchovies swim by, it's always on a Quicknibble. I say it shouldn't be a problem because the fish is clearly visable before the stingray moves over the fish and there are big enough gaps in the anchovies that you can see it's an orange fish. Perfect Get: Angling Profiles (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Don't ask how I landed it! Just/OK: Dinner's on me! Try Again: How much is that one? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flipper-Flop............................................................(G05-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: We may look like cute, fluffy lumps of joy, but we're a grizzled expedition team! We train hard and always follow our captain's orders! Personal Description: You are a line of 4 adorable seals, with you being the 3rd in line, following the commands of a familiar face. You must keep in time, otherwise you risk bumping into your teammates beside you. Press A to keep the beat of their march. There's a cue where you hear a "dink dink dink" to tell you when to press A 3 times in a row. Then your captain will tell you to do a numaber flipper-rolls, be it 1 or 10, you must follow his orders by replacing your normal marches with A+B. With that done, let's roll! Personal Thoughts: So cute and adorable. They even make sounds when they're on their backs and when the roll count gets high. Hit or Miss: Superb: You step/roll in time perfectly, not disrupting anyone else. At the end of a roll count, he'll congratulate/praise your team. OK: You step/roll slightly off time, looking a little worried, making a "dink" sound. You'll still get the praise at the end of a roll count. Try Again: You step/roll at the wrong time and hit your teammate with a derp face and your tongue sticking out, said teammate is not pleased. Either that or you just fail to press anything at all your teammate bumps you over, again, not pleased and you making the derp face again. During a roll, the captain's face will turn blue and he'll be less enthusiastic with the counting. Tip(s): The captain bounces in time with the beat of the music, and since this is a "keep the beat" game, that should help you a bit. The triple steps start and end on beat and has 1 press on an offbeat. Nothing else in this game is offbeat. Perfect Get: Expedition Journal (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Let's roll! Just/OK: Give me two more! Try Again: You can't be tired already! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exhibition Match........................................................(G05-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: OK, Mr. Big Batting Hero, time to show off your skills in an exhibition match. Don't let anything get past you! Personal Description: You are the fairly big batter in yellow facing off against the girl in pink in an exhibition match. (duh) The girl simply throws baseballs which travel behind a curtain and it doesn't immeditately pass on to you. Instead, you must wait 5 beats, starting with when she throws it. That's it. Not strings attatched, no other patterns. That's. It. Personal Thoughts: SNOOOORE! This game is so boring to me. As I said in my description, the game never changes the pattern or anything. Heck, it doesn't even change the tempo! At least Built to Scale, while being the same thing over and over again, had tempo changes! The only good thing about it is just the general presentation of the game and, while the song sounds repetitive to me, it still sounds nice. Also, at one point in the game, the girl will throw her hat at the ground if the last swing as a hit. I'm pretty sure, that by the time you get to the end when the curtains are pulled away, she'll be sweating bullets. Also, monkey. Gotta have monkeys, man! Hit or Miss: Superb: You hit the ball and the crowd cheers and claps. When you get later in the game, you start acting all cocky after hitting a baseball. In gernal, she will be displeased. OK: You just graze the ball, making a "BOINK" sound as it falls down and the crowd will cheer and applaud. The girl will be happy. Try Again: The crowd boos you as you spin in a comical manner and have a puzzled expression. If you don't swing at all, you still have that puzzled explression, just without the spinning. Same as before, the girl will be happy. Tip(s): Before you wind up for a swing and before the girl throws a ball, you'll both be bouncing to the beat of the music. Keep that beat by tapping you foot, nodding you head, shaking your wrist, whatever works for you. I never understood why, but on the one swing where it zooms WAAAAY out into the crowd, the lights above the stage flash in time with the beat of the music. If only it did that with the lights you can normally see. Perfect Get: Exhibition Match (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: We won't see THAT one again! Just/OK: Let's call it a tie. Good match. Try Again: I... lost? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flock Step..............................................................(G05-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: It's amazing to see so many birds migrating together. Of course, to avoid stepping on each others' toes, they'll need good rhythm... Personal Description: You are in a row of 4 pink... long legged, short winged head birds. You're the 3rd in the line and must keep time in this wonderful bird march, unless you want to smack around your fellow birds around you. Simply press A to step forward. When hear the cue of "tweet, twe-twe-tweet tweet, tweet, SQUAWK", as the game puts it, press and hold A+B for a beat and then let go to do a little jumping flap. Are you ready to migrate with the others? Personal Thoughts: BIRDCEPTION!.... sorry, I had to. Anyway, I really like this song, and a lot of other people do as well it seems. The gernal upbeat of the song has a nice feeling to it. Hit or Miss: Superb: You step and jump in time with everyone else, not bumping into others. OK: I... I don't think there is a barely-missed for this one? I usually get it but this one just doesn't seem to exist. If one does, please let me know and possibly show it to me if you can. Try Again: You step too early and bump into the bird infront of you or you jump too early and you get smacked from the front and back and have a surprised look on your face. You could also just miss a step and get smacked from behind, same surprised look. Tip(s): The birds will bounce in time at the beginning to get you into the beat, but this game doesn't really have any visuals that can really help you this time. Have you ever noticed that your steps are a little different than the others and it's putting you off for personal reasons? All you have to do is release the A button on the offbeat instead of just tapping. You don't really have to as it doesn't care about that, but I do it for the sake of really blending into the gameplay. For the epic zoom out, keep marching! Just because you can't see your bird, doesn't mean anything to the game. If you stop marching then, you'll be sure to lose a Superb rank. Before you start marching and you're going for a perfect, don't press A. You'll your perfect before the song even starts! And on the same note, don't stop marching as it's fading out! You'll lose your perfect there if you do. It's not like Lockstep, as much as you want it to be. Perfect Get: Birds of the Universe (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: It feels good to belong. Just/OK: Long road ahead... Try Again: Where'd everybody go? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 5.................................................................(REG05) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's got a prehistoric, primitive sort of feel. (No practice.) Personal Description: Yes, you just went back to the dinosaur ages with this Remix!.... which apparently had baseball and fishing with normal fishing rods. Uhhhh, whatever! So Catch of the Day replaced Ann with a stereotypical caveman, Flipper-Flop lost their captain, visually anyway and turned golden brown, Exhibition Match turned the crowd into the pink Flock Step birds and Flock Step got dirt ground instead of grass. Yup. Personal Thoughts: This is also a short Remix. Order of Games: Catch of the Day Exhibition Match Catch of the Day Flock Step Catch of the Day Exhibiation Match Flipper-Flop Flock Step Exhibtion Match Catch of the Day Flipper-Flop Flock Step Catch of the Day Tip(s): This Remix throws mostly Pausegills at you for Catch of the Day segments. The Remix begins and ends with a Threefish, the first one giving you the audio cue to remind you. The game won't give you much visual indication when a Flock Step or Flipper-Flop segment will start. Flock Step will give you a "... 3, 4!" audio cue while Flipper-Flop will give you the "Attention company!" the captain normally would. Flipper-Flop segments always chain into Flock Step segments because both are "keep the beat" games. The game will chain into Flock Step by blacking out the screen then continuing on. Just keep pressing A to the beat. When another game comes up, if you're on time, your input won't do anything, saving you from screwing up a Catch of the Day segment or whatever. Perfect Get: Remix 5 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: If you were a dinosaur, you'd be... a high-flying pteranodon! Wheee! Just/OK: If you were a dinosaur, you'd be... a plesiosaur. Blub blub! Try Again: If you were a dinosaur, you'd be... T. rex food! Help! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 6...................................................................(SET06) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm.... I think this set has one of the most mentally misleading game of the entirety of Rhythm Heaven Fever. You'll find out what I'm talking about. Also, there's a game in this set that would've fit perfectly in the last set's Remix. This set also holds a favourite of mine.... which I guess also happens to stump some people, but whatever. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Launch Party............................................................(G06-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Count down to launch! Or rather, count down to launches. Quite a few of them, in fact. Personal Description: In this game, you'll be controlling a small rounded, uh, launch pad/raocket? I dunno, but in anycase, this thing can launch rockets out of it. The black screen on the front of it will show a count down to launch and it's your job to press A when the counter reaches zero. There are 4 different rockets, each with its own kind of count down. The first is a regular red rocket. It's start from 3 and count down to the beat. Next is the blue party popper rocket, with a count down starting from 5. the count down is a little bit faster. After that is the green bell rocket. It starts at 7 and quickly makes the count down to zero. Finally, there's a grey bowling pin rocket. It's count down starts at 1 but it takes several beats before it reaches zero. Personal Thoughts: There's a really easy trick to this one if you can keep a beat. I really love the orchestrated sound in this one and just the sound of the rockets successfully being launched sounds great too. Did you notice there are people talking during the game? Most of the time, it's kind of hard to hear what they're saying because the music blocks is pretty loud and surprising drowns out the chatter. I thought it was the SFX of the rockets launching and the count downs, but no so! Check it out! A dude that goes by ReminisceNikka on YouTube has taken the music out of Launch Party, allowing the talking to be heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8fbNDXFOVA Hit or Miss: Superb: The rocket will launch successfully, the normal with a regular blast off, the party popper will make a popping sound ,like a party popper should, the bell sounds like somoene hitting a small bell and the bowling pin is someone getting a strike. OK: The rocket will leave behind a little smoke but didn't quite get launched and will instead fall down, making a "piiiiiiew~" sounds. Try Again: The rocket will fall off with a bit of smoke, making a "BOINK" sound. Tips: So the tip for this one is massive. Except for the normal, red rocket, all of the rockets can all be gotten with a 3 beat count. Once the count down starts for the party popper, bell or bowling pin with the "ding" it makes, count to 3 in time with the beat and press A on the 3rd. This will always give you the proper timing for the 3 rockets. For the rockets the combo into each other, simply tack on two more counts and tah-dah, you're got it. Perfect Get: Rhythm Rockets (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: We've made contact! Just/OK: One giant leap... Try Again: Um... where are we? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donk-Donk...............................................................(G06-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: This one's hard to explain. Just focus on switching between the two rhythms. You'll get the hang of it. Personal Description: You are a part of a line of 3 living tuning forks attached to a rocket ship, directed by a small, green alien.... octopus.... thing. The rocket must fly through the air with the power of tuning forks hitting each other.... I'm trying, but the game is right, it's hard to explain. So yeah, basically, you're the middle tuning fork and you have to press A in time with the rhythm to hit your head onto the fork part of the guy in front of you and to raise you fork end so the guy behind you can hit it. The little alien dude will start by saying "donk-donk", meaning you have to press A twice to his beat. When he says "donk-DWONK", you have to get ready to switch to the other rhythm. In this pattern the alien will say "deet-deet-daah", where you have to press A 3 times to his beat. When he says "deet-deet-doot," get ready to switch back to the "donk-donk" rhythm. So get ready to do that thing you guys do! .... Was that confusing? I think it was confusing. My god. Personal Thoughts: I'm sorry if that made little sense. Honestly, it's hard to explain and I hope I helped a little. This is one of my favourite games, and I'm not entire sure why. Maybe because it's a very odd "keep the beat" game where it's mostly full of offbeats. Hit or Miss: Superb: You're in time and do that thing you're suppose to do with a nice"TONK!" for the "donk-donk"bits and a "TING!" sound for the "deet-deet-daah" parts. The sound. The ship makes a large puff of red smoke and is propelled forward. OK: You still make the same "TING!" sound, but the other two forks scrunch their eyes as you wobble back and forth. The ship makes a slightly smaller puff of smoke. Try Again: You miss completely and hit nothing, making your eyes wide and sweating, making a "BOINK" sound. You can also just not press anything, the other two forks doing the same thing you would do if you missed, eyes wide and sweating. The ship makes a very small puff of smoke. Tip(s): The little alien guy bounces whenever he says something and he always says his audio cues, so pay attention to him. The rhythm of the 2 and 3 hits never change, so listen to the pattern of his voice. In fact, don't even look at the screen for this one. The screen doesn't help at all. I guess it's good to note is that if you can get the 3 hit rhythm and can't quite figure out the 2 hit rhythm, think of it this way; the 2 hit rhythm is the same first two hits of the 3 hit rhythm. You can tell it's the "deet-deet-doot" cue because the first "deet" sounds higher pitched, so get ready to switch back to hitting A twice.... just don't forget to press A 3 times for the that "deet-deet-doot." There's only 1 on beat hit for each pattern, and it's the first hit. The first "donk" and first "deet" of each pattern is on beat, the others are completely offbeat. Also, don't press A when you're not suppose to. It'll kill your perfect run. Bet you weren't expecting that, huh? Perfect Get: Donk-Donk (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Nothing can stop us now! Just/OK: Here we go! Try Again: Does anyone know where we're going? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bossa Nova..............................................................(G06-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Primitive people played a lot more primitive volleyball than most people realize. Also, their music was pretty sophisticated. Personal Description: See? This game is set with caveman-like stuff. In this game you play as Bossa, the guy with the leaf and stem on his head, while playing an interesting form of "volleyball" with Nova, the girl with a flower and stem on her head. Did I mention you standing on a cloud? Anyway, while standing on the left side of the cloud, you must hit a cube in time with the music. When on the right side, you must hit a string of 2 balls, a bit faster paced than the left side. All you need to do is press A to bump the ball. It's all in time with the music. In mid-pattern, you'll switch with the audio cue either being "turn" or "spin" with.... interesting tones. Personal Thoughts: I'm rather neutral on this one. I don't mind it, but it's definitely not one I'll flock to when given the chance. It does have a nice beat to it though. It's actually kinda funny when you screw up. The text that usually appears is supportive when you're doing well, but if you're screwing up at first, it tells you to relax and then later says they need a new partner and they should just stop for now. Hit or Miss: Superb: You'll the ball/cube perfectly, making a colour ripple. Depending on which side you're on, either a girl will say "bom" or a guy will say "don", roughly speaking. OK: You'll graze the ball/cube, making a "BOINK" sound, but the girl or guy will still say stuff. Try Again: You miss bumping the ball altogether, cause the girl or guy to cough. Either that or you try and bump and end up hitting Nova in the back of her head as she's trying to bump. If you do that, the guy or girl will have an irritated tone to their voice before going back to their "normal" voice. Tip(s): The best advice I can give since I can't really explain the timing for this is to really get a handle on the rhythm of the cubes and balls. When switching over to the right side, there will a single ball instantly and then it'll turn into the 2 ball pattern. For perfect, you can actually press A whenever you want, as usual. As long as you're not smacking Nova or missing any of your bumps, you're alright. Perfect Get: Bossa Nova (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: The perfect couple. Just/OK: Togetherness. Try Again: We just don't seem to be in sync. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Love Rap................................................................(G06-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Love! It's the most powerful feeling in the world. And there's no better way to express it than through the ancient art of hip-hop. Personal Description: You, the guy in a red hat, and the guy in the yellow hat must rap back what MC Ador, the girl on the car, says.... in the streets.... while it rains. I don't get it All you need to do is press A to copy what the girl says. There's four different things she can say; "Into You", which is a simple 1 beat phrase, "Crazy Into You", a beat and a half, "Fo' Sho'", being an interesting 3/4 of a beat, and "All About You", where it takes 1 beat for MC Adore to say it, but takes you 1 and half beats to repeat it. Sure there's a lot, but hey, it only needs one button! It shouldn't be too hard.... right? Personal Thoughts: Yes, this is the game I think is probably one of the hardest games in Rhythm Heaven Fever. The timing is all perfectly in sync with the beat, but the visuals mental trick you, at least for it does. It's just a feeling that I can't quite figure out in all honesty. I mean, I didn't have much trouble with it, but something feels off about this game. Also, this is my least favourite translation. I'm neutral to it all now, but as a point of criticism, the voice for your character is just too... loud? I dunno how to explain it, but if you watch the Japanese version, his voice compliments the others in my opinion. Hit or Miss: Superb: You copy what MC Adore says, no problem. OK: You still copy what MC Adore says, but your voice changes to a high or low pitch if you late or early, respectively. Try Again: You don't time it right, trying to say something but nothing comes out and making a "BOINK" sound while your friend looks angrily at you. You can also do nothing, no "BOINK" sound, but your friend still looks angry. Tip(s): The car bounces to the beat of the music, but they way I handled it is for every bounce, I count 2 beats instead of just 1 beat. This way I get "Into You" as 2 beats, "Crazy Into You" as 3 beats and "All About You" as 2 beats for MC Adore and 3 beats for you. The only thing that this has trouble with is the "Fo' Sho'" as it becomes 1 and a half. So next tip. The usual way people get by this game is that right after MC Adore finishes saying her phrase, press A. More often then not you'll get it. Perfect Get: Love Rap (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: All right--I'll say it: you guys were amazing. Just/OK: Not bad. I guess. Try Again: Unbelieveable... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 6.................................................................(REG06) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's carnival themed! It'll take you back to your youth... unless you're still there. (No practice.) Personal Description: Yup, they managed to tie in a bunch of really odd game into a carnival themed one. Makes perfect sense! Launch Party is set above a carnival, Donk-Donk is traveling through said carnival, Bossa Nova is placed on one of those spinning teacup rides, and Love rap has it so the the looks like clowns and MC Adore is on a bear that spins.... yup. Personal Thoughts: Carnivals! I remember carnivals. They're pretty awesome. Eeeeyup. Perfect Get: Remix 6 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: If your skill was a business tip... you'd be going to outer space! Just/OK: If your skill was a business trip... you'd be going somewhere tropical! Are you excite? I am! I mean, I already know what happens, but it's still awesome. Also has a familiar game as the last normal game before the Remix. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tap Troupe..............................................................(G07-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: With taps on their shoes and boxes on their heads, this quartet dreams of stardom. We understand the taps, but the head boxes...? Personal Description: Like the game says, you're part of a four man troupe set to be tap stars! And yes, for whatever reason they're wearing grey boxes on their heads. That's besides the point! You have to step, or tap, in time with the music by pressing A. Yes, this is a "keep the beat" game. When the audio cue "Rea-dy!" sounds, get ready to do a different rhythm of taps with a "dahn dahn dahn". During the alternate pattern, once it goes into a "Tap, tap, tap!", you go back into the normal "keep the beat" pattern. Personal Thoughts: The reveal at the end is hilrious and is awesome. Also the party popper in the middle is a nice tough to the song. Every notice there's something a very soft laugh or a "woohoo" during some "OK!"s? Well I did. A very nice attention to detail. Hit or Miss: Superb: You keep in time with the others. When you successfully finish a "Tap, tap, tap", all four of you say "OK!" OK: You're timing is slightly off, making a "dink" sound. The other look at you disapprovingly. There will be no "OK!" if they're still make the face at you. Try Again: You tap when you're not suppose to and make a "BOINK" sound. The others blow raspberries in disapproval. You can also just do nothing with the same results. Tip(s): The timing for the "Tap, tap, tap!" is really odd. The first 2 taps are all are both in time with the rest of that pattern, but the last "tap" seems off. That's because it's going by the normal beat. A good exmaple is that at one point in the game, there's a ridiculously pause of a full beat before the last "tap." The reason is because the second tap ended up being on beat. The third tap is always on beat so it's easy to continue the constant beat of the normal rhythm. I encourage you to look up a video of Tap Troupe and keep in time by counting to four, even when they start doing the other rhythm. The last tap of the "Tap, tap, tap!" will ALWAYS be on "One" of your count. Perfect Get: At the Auditions (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: We're real stars now! ...Right? Just/OK: We did it! Didn't we? Try Again: We're better than this! Aren't we? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shrimp Shuffle..........................................................(G07-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Shrimp make surpringly good dancers and will jump at the chance to show off their skills. Try not to bump into anyone. Personal Description: You are the 3rd in a row of the Shrimp Scamperers, the dance troupe. Together, the four of you must jump in time with the odd beat, given the audio cue of "1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1". When you hear a "A, B, C!" instead of a "3, 2, 1," press A+B on "C" to leap back in style. There's also a cue for when you're suppose to wait. Usually you hear a "Together!" to signify that it'll go into "1, 2, 3". When it doesn't and you hear a "Ooh-wah-Ah! Hmm!", wait and a beat after the "Hmm!", resume the "1, 2, 3" pattern like normal. Now go and... hop around. Personal Thoughts: Funny pun that was lost in translation if I don't know Japanese. Shrimp is "ebi" in Japanese. When they say "A, B, C," what does that sound like to you? "Ebi sea." Yup, I'm a nerd. Whatever. Hit or Miss: Superb: You'll hop forward and leap back without hitting anyone else. OK: Again, like Flock Step, I'm not sure there is a barely missed for this game. If I'm wrong, please, do tell. Try Again: You jump or leap into the back or front of you fellow shrimp. They don't seem effected, but you'll be bumbed back into place, X's for eyes. You can also do nothing with similar results. Tip(s): Whenever it does the pause, get ready to start going again with the "1, 2, 3" pattern as it doesn't give you a chance to properly hear the "Together," so be ready to press A again right after you're done with the paused pattern. Perfect Get: Shrimp Shuffle (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: The perfect cocktail for success! Just/OK: There's no "I" in "prawn"! Try Again: Back to practice... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheer Readers...........................................................(G07-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: You know who doesn't get enough support? People studying at the library. Let's chere these dedicated students on. Personal Description: Being the girl in the bottom right corner of 3 lines of 4 girls, the 12 of you make up the School Library Pep Squad. With books in hand, you flip to the back and front of the book for your cheers. Simply press A to flip. There's a quite a few commands for this. A simple "One! Two! Three!" has it so you need to flip the book on "Three!" "It's up to you!" mean flip it on "you!" "Rah-rah sis boom bah-BOOM!", flip on "BOOM!" "Let's go read a buncha books!", flip on "books!" Finally there a command to spin and open the book. When they say "OK, it's on!", hold A+B on "it's" and let go on "on!" Personal Thoughts: I think the translation from Japanese to English was well done. Also, quite a few cameo in this one. This one refences a lot from both the GBA and DS games. Hit or Miss: Superb: You flip, spin and open the book on time, when you're suppose to. Sometimes you'll even do a cute "Yay!" after some of the flips when the song allows it. OK: You flip the book, but tilt it a little more than you need to and blush. When opening the book, you lower it a little while blushing. Try Again: You flip, spin or open the book at the wrong time and it makes a "doink~" kind of sound. You also can fail to do any of those and you'll blush. Tip(s): Both you and the rest of the Pep Squad will say phrases, whether it be the same or different. Pay attention to it. At one point the others say "OK, it's on!" and right after it you say "Let's go read a buncha books!" You can also pay attention to the subtitles at the bottom if you're not exactly sure what they're saying. Perfect Get: Cheer Readers (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Thanks to you, I passed! Just/OK: I burn with a desire to study! Try Again: Would you keep it down?! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karate Man..............................................................(G07-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: This is karate training at it's most intense! Punch the flying objects, and go crazy when a whole mess of them come at you! Personal Description: Karate Joe returns for the second time in the Rhythm Heaven series! In this one, Joe punches flower pots that fly by him, pressing A to punch. Sometimes it'll give you the cue of "Hit 3!" where you have to hit 3 things in a row. There another where it shows off a "!!" and instead of the normal "PSHEW!" sound, it's slightly altered and is offbeat. Lastly is the "whole mess" of pots. A lightbulb will be shot out first, making a "TONK" sound. Then a whole bunch of pots and a barrel will shoot out with a "BOOM!" You'll also hear a audio cue that sounds like "Pa-chi-pa-chi-ka-POW!" which starts on the beat after the "BOOM!" cue. Press and hold A+B on the first "Pa" and let go on the "POW!". Personal Thoughts: Yes! I love this one. The music is great and feels like a continuation from the DS song, like the guy's point of view or something. It's pretty awesome. Hit or Miss: Superb: You hit the single pots and stuff that come your way without any trouble. The combo of pots are hit away and the barrel is busted. Joe will either blush or be ridiculously happy. OK: You just graze the pots, making a "BOINK" sound. When doing the combo, you either graze the first, last and/or the barrel and Joe will look really sad. Try Again: You completely miss and the pot passes by you hitting the ground, Joe looking surprised. If you miss busting the barrel, or the combo alltogether, Joe will be very sad. Tip(s): Joe bounces to the beat of the music and even though it's not as noticeable, maybe that will help you. Good to note is that using the shadows to determine when to hit the pots helps. For those visual people out there, press A when the shadow of the pots get to his left foot. You should be perfectly on time with it. If not, try hitting it a little bit early or latter. A little more specific for this one. You can punch whenever you want during a perfect run and you'll be fine. If you try and be fancy by hitting single pots with a combo, you'll break your perfect. So just a heads up if you were thinking of doing that. Perfect Get: Song Lyrics 4 (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Hiiiyah! Just/OK: Whoops! My belt came undone... Try Again: I should eat more before training... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 7.................................................................(REG07) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one will take you to outer space! (No practice.) Personal Description: The last Remix before the credits takes us to SPAAAAAAAAACE. Gotta go to space. So Tap Troupe will be given space helmets, Shrimp Shuffle will turn the Shrimp Scamperers into tempura.... mmm, Cheer Readers get the Pep Squad in like a 80's-like outfit and Karate Man puts Joe into some similar clothing, more fitting for a karate man. Personal Thoughts: Ha, I love the little break near the end they gave Joe, along with the cameo. It's pretty awesome. Order of Games: Cheer Readers Karate Man Cheer Readers Karate Man Shrimp Shuffle Karate Man Shrimp Shuffle Cheer Readers Karate Man Cheer Readers Karate Man Tap Troupe Cheer Readers Tap Troupe Cheer Readers Karate Man (nothing happens in this one) Tap Taroup Cheer Readers Tip(s): This one has a very long Tap Troupe segment right after the relaxing Karate Man part. It uses the alternate rhythm of taps and ends with a fast "Tap, tap, tap!" Immediately, the Cheer Readers segments pops up right after it and does an "OK, it's on!" So be ready for it after the Tao Troupe part. I mention this later, but you cannot skip this game with Barista's help. In fact, Barista won't even show you a demo of how to do this one. So you gotta work hard to pass this one. Perfect Get: Song Lyrics 5 (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Fior you vacation... welcome to Rhythm Heaven! Just/OK: For your vacation... aim for Rhythm Heaven! Try Again: For your vacation... prepare for rain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Night Walk"/Credits/Cast...............................................(CRDTG) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Huzzah! The credits is here for you after you took on and beat Remix 7! Enjoy. After you've went through the credits once, you can go back and watch it again, this time you can actually play it for yourself. The first time through, it plays itself. Welcome to Night Walk. Personal Description: Anyone who has played the GBA game will remember this game! You take control of Marshall, the white dude who you met at the very beginning of the game. In this game, you jump on boxes in space that shoot hearts out if you time it correctly. To jump, all you need to do is press A. When a double box comes by with a disc scratch sound, press and hold A+B on the first box and then let go on the second to roll and then do a high jump with fireworks. And yeah, that's about it. Just keep jumping until the end. Personal Thoughts: It was amazing when I found out they brought back Night Walk. Same entrance with the balloons, the same title music. It was a nice touch. Hit or Miss: Superb: Marshall jumps pretty high, the box underneath him opens and lets out a heart. OK: You still jump, just not as high and the heart will be small with a red "Miss" under it. When doing the high jump, you can either mistime the first or second box, the same "Miss" popping out of the box. Try Again: You mistime your jump and you just kinda hop of a little. You failed to either start rolling for the high jump or actually jump after rolling. Tip(s): The entire game is basically void of offbeats. The only ones are the second boxes for the high jumps, and it's the offbeat right after you press and hold A+B, so it's not that hard with a long pause or something. Don't miss a jump when you're at a hole. You'll fall down and instantly skip to the cast without finishing the song. In fact, just don't miss any jumps. Unlike the original Night Walk, you'll be highly penalized for not jumping when you have to. Rank Message: Superb: Let's see what's over the rainbow! Just/OK: With teamwork, we can do anything! Try Again: Oh... I'll be transcribing the credits and cast, so if you don't care about it, just skip over it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME DESIGN SOUND EFFECTS DEBUG Ko Takeuchi Masami Yone Mario Club Co., Ltd. If you haven't noticed, there aren't as many reskin games since we're starting with set 8 rather than set 7. Starting with this set, I'm not going to be putting up the Hit or Miss anymore. None of the these games add anything that will cause something different in it. Also, these last few sets don't let you practice, unless they're adding in a different audio cue. These don't change what happen when you barely miss a hit or whatever, which is why I'm taking out the Hit or Miss. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Samurai Slice 2.........................................................(G08-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: The wandering samurai has wandered farther than ever before, pursuing the evil spirits. Where is he? (No practice.) Personal Description: Essentially, the wandering samurai wandered so far, he wandered into the future! I guess. In this game, the samurai has gained a fancy orange and black styled clothing and instead of fighting on a cliff, you're fighting on top of a building in the middle of a city or something. This time around, you'll find even bigger spirits! The music is more futuristic sounding and faster paced. Can you save the toy bunny that was stolen? Personal Thoughts: This one has more spirits at a faster rate but it doesn't really make it harder, just more chances to miss one. In fact, it's not that much faster anyway. I'm still sad they didn't elaborate on the other pinwheel. I think it would have made a better story than this thing. It even says "THE END" at the end of this one. A bit of trivia, in the Japanese version, there was a wine glass just below the word "MUSIC". The border of the sign was dots instead of lines and the word "LIVE" wasn't there either. Tip(s): Just like the original, if you get everything perfect, but miss the last one, which is carrying the bunny, then you automatically get bumped to a Just OK rank. Perfect Get: Picky Eaters' Song (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Thank you! That was a very important bunny! Just/OK: Um, that's not actually what they took from me... Try Again: You, uh, only have half a sword there... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Working Dough 2.........................................................(G08-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: You've mostly gotten used to this job now, but your coworker? That guy is a machine! Try to keep up! (No practice.) Personal Description: Set in a traditional Japanese bamboo forest, which match tradition Japanese music, shamisen and everything. You're still transporting fuel orbs, just.... it doesn't seem like they're going anywhere. This time, instead of a giant dough ship blasting off, it's a Japanese doll, which is drinking tea, with a dough head that blasts off instead. And on the subjects of tea, you're in a teapot this time around. Yup. Careful of this one, the timing isn't so clear cut for this as there's offbeats in practically every pattern. Personal Thoughts: If you couldn't handle the long string of patterns in the original, maybe this will be easier for your. The longest string is like 4 orbs, only with offbeat timing. Tip(s): Uhhh, I have no normal tips for this. I'll gladly take any tips. Perfect Get: Working Dough 2 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Tea tastes better on the moon! Just/OK: We're going home to the moon. Try Again: Back to Earth... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built to Scale 2........................................................(G08-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Word about the high quality of our widgets has gotten out, so we need more! Pick up the pace! (No practice.) Personal Description: The whole thing is teal instead of green. Yup, nothing different visually. The music is changed to be more technologically? Electronic? I don't know my music genres well enough. So, instead of making 2 widgets and then repeating, you're making 3 widgets and then repeating. This one actually has offbeat pegs, but if you remember the original, it kept the pattern so.... Personal Thoughts: I feel like Fever's Built to Scale could of had potential, but both ended up being predictable games. It still has nice music at least. Tip(s): Just like the original, pegs will always follow a pattern and repeat it throughout the game. It's essentially the exact same as the original except you add on another one from the left and launch it off without having to press A at all. The first peg of the sets is on the offbeat, but it at least it stays there. The two after are on beat, like normal. The last peg is affected by the tempo change and you'll notice it when it goes from the fast to slow tempos. Adjust your timing accordingly to the tempo changes. Perfect Get: Assembly-Line Slogans (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: We finished early! Just/OK: Time for a well-earned coffee break. Try Again: How important are these widget things, anyway? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Double Date 2...........................................................(G08-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: A romantic date to a farm, getting close to nature. What could go wrong here? (No practice.) Personal Description: I'll tell you what. A bunch sports balls coming from nowhere! So yeah, you're set on a farm this time, duh. You're sporting from orange overals and hat while your girlfriend is wearing a blue coverall. The music reflects this change with some country sounding music as well. This time around, the balls are more plentiful and there are even more offbeat ones. Personal Thoughts: At first I didn't like the sound of this one, but it eventually grew on me. I just really like the sound that... harmonica? I dunno. I just like it. Oh, look at that, sheep are catching the footballs.... white sheep and brown sheep and.... red, blue and green sheep?! Tip(s): Remember my tip about count 2 beats for every bounce they do? Yeah, this will help with the offbeat balls. Also, the grass tip works here too. Perfect Get: Double Date 2 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Together... forever. Just/OK: There's something you should see... Try Again: The sheep are rampaging! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 8.................................................................(REG08) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's set to a song about unrequited love. Try to play through the tears. (No practice.) Personal Description: This one is set in a old photograph. Literally, it's taking place in a pinned up photograph. Nothing about the games has changed graphically either, so yeah. Personal Thoughts: The fourth lyrical song in the game and once again, they did an excellent job translating and dubbing it. I didn't notice it myself, but all the games present in this Remix, to quote the user who first noted this, "involve rejecting or denying something." ~dyn721 A really nice touch they did with this. It's brilliant, even. This is fairly fast paced, and I even think it's the fastest Remix, not including Remix 10. I might be told otherwise, but Remix 9, the apprent "fast" Remix of the game... isn't that fast besides a couple parts. This one is generally fast all around. Order of Games: Double Date Working Dough Built to Scale Launch Party Exhibition Match Double Date Working Dough Double Date Air Rally Working Dough Samurai Slice Built to Scale Double Date Launch Party Exhibition Match Samurai Slice Built to Scale Air Rally Launch Party Exhibition Match Working Dough Tip(s): The Air Rally segments start with the "BAH-BOM BOM BOM" cue, just in case you're ignoring it. For the visually impared, the Built to Scale segments always has the peg enter from the left side. Aside from the first Built to Scale segment, it's always press A once, then A+B. Perfect Get: Song Lyrics 2 (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: You were as good as a... guitar guru... legend... genius! Just/OK: You were as good as a... competent rocker. Try Again: You were as good as a... broken guitar string. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 9...................................................................(SET09) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This set is full of my favourite second verions since I think they sound better with all the extra inputs and different style music they use. Should also note that Love Rap gets a second version too, so.... *jazz hands* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Love Rap 2..............................................................(G09-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Love! As always, we must turn to the only ture method of expressing it: hip-hop. (No practice.) Personal Description: Uh, I dunno what's up with their hair, but I'd be willing to bet they're just wearing wigs or something.... maybe. This installment of Love Rap takes it inside. Oh ho, I think you know what that means. *eyebrows* Ahem, anyway, this time the music is a little more.... classical? This makes me wish I knew music genres better! Also, they throw a ton more commands at you this time, so get ready for it! Personal Thoughts: To start off for this set, I enjoy it much more than the first one. My opinion on the voice stays the same, however. Tip(s): If you're looking for something to to screw up on, it's the "All about you"s. I got bumped down to a Just OK by barely missing two of them, and since there's not a whole lot of them, missing just a few hurts big time. Perfect Get: Concert Listings (Read something) Rank Messages: Superb: I guess I HAVE to be nice to you guys after that... Just/OK: Who says love and rap don't go together?! Try Again: Lame, guys. Really Lame. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheer Readers 2.........................................................(G09-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Another group who needs more support is museum patrons! Let's give 'em a cheer! (No practice.) Personal Description: Set in a museum, the Pep Squad is dressed in them stereotypical archaeology clothing. Of course, it's taking palce in the museum, unfortunately you can see any of the displays. The music this time around gets more intense. Just, listen to it for your self. Personal Thoughts: I personally love the music much more than the original version. It just seems to fit more if you ask me. And they also say that cute "Yay!" at really impactful parts of the game. Tip(s): There's really not a whole lot to say. Like I said before, pay attention to the subtitles and what your character and the rest of the Pep Squad says. Perfect Get: Pap-Squad Rules (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: They let me borrow this priceless artifact! Just/OK: History is coming alive! Try Again: I-is the museum closed now? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hole in One 2...........................................................(G09-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Monkey and Mandrill are back and ready to take another promising young golf hotshot to the pros! (No practice.) Personal Description: Hole in One 2....? Hole in 12?! *cough* Sorry. This time around, you're playing as a girl on some fluffy pink clouds. The song is even more upbeat than before! Also, Monkey and Mandrill found it necessary to add pink to their being. The game will throw a lot more golf balls at you this time, along with some offbeat Mandrill throws. Personal Thoughts: The consecutive golf balls just make this feel so much more enjoyable. I'm not sure why. Is it just me, or is there something off putting about her arms when she swings? I think it's because her arms aren't well defined like the original golfer was. Seriously, look at her arms. They're noodles! Everything else on her body is normal, but not her arms! Bit of trivia, for those who have a 3DS. You did notice that they used this game's background for the puzzle, right? If not, now you know! Also, anyone else notice that? No? Hmmm.... Tip(s): The consecutive shots aren't too hard to predict. It'll flow with the song, so don't worry about it too much. Again, if you're having from trouble, all three characters bounce to the beat. Perfect Get: Hole in One 2 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Perfect form! Just/OK: I'll bet I can sink one more! Try Again: I didn't even qualify... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Screwbot Factory 2......................................................(G09-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Our second facility also builds robots, but the power here is a little unreliable. ANOTHER fuse burned out? (No practice.) Personal Description: There's nothing graphically different about this game, no colour changes or anything. The music, however, is set to more of an egyptian style, which makes absolutely no sense, but whatever. So like it say, the lights are pretty crummy and will occasionally burn out, leaving only a small spotlight for you to see. There's just enough space for you to tell what's coming without listen to the sounds. This one is a bit longer and has more robots to finish, so get ready. Personal Thoughts: I love this rendition of the song for this game. I have no idea, but it just sounds awesome. I didn't like it at first, but then I changed my mind after having to play it a few times to get a perfect rank. Tip(s): If the lights start messing with your head, especially the ones near the end, just close your eyes for a few seconds. Try and rely on your ears a little. It's a little harder to just listen for it, but it might help to try. Perfect Get: Industrial Espionage (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Let's go! The world needs us! Just/OK: ...And here is where we store the robot's sense of duty. Try Again: How can I improve the quality at the factory...? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 9.................................................................(REG09) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one's got a great beat! You can also dance to it, if you so choose. (No practice.) Personal Description: This one is.... I'm not sure what kind of style. I suppose something like a fashion shoot? A promotional video set? Those are my guesses. Yeah, most of them are set on a stage. But in any case, everything is either red, white or black.... sometimes grey. Otherwise, aside from the background and colour change, it's roughly the same. Cheer Readers put them in their tutorial clothes, Karate Man gets a cat to keep Joe company, Board Meeting has some familiar faces in the background band, Hole in One gave Mandrill and ridiculous hairdo and Ringside changed the reporters hair style. The music is like.... J-pop? A form of J-pop? I'm not really sure, but yeah. Personal Thoughts: The final lyrical song in the game and once again, I have to give the translation team credit for translating and dubbing it quite well. I do not consider this to be the fast Remix of this game. Only the Love Rap and Board Meeting segments are fast, all the others barely take advantage of the faster tempo of this one. Is it just me, or has Tambourine been slightly changed in the English version? It feels different, but the timing seems to be the same. I dunno, the dubbing did kind of change the syllables for that part. Order of Games: Cheer Readers Love Rap Karate Man Fork Lifter Screwbot Factory Fork Lifter Screwbot Factory Board Meeting Tambourine Fork Lifter Screwbot Factory Fork Lifter Hole in One Board Meeting Screwbot Factory Cheer Readers Board Meeting Karate Man Cheer Readers Board Meeting Karate Man Love Rap Ringside Love Rap Karate Man Tip(s): The only really fast parts are the Love Rap segments. Usually every other part in this Remix gives you enough breathing room to know what you're looking at. Just keep in mind, only a few things are off beat in this one. The two smacks in Tambourine, the "Crazy Into You"s in Love Rap and, if you wanna count this, the final combo hit in Karate Man. (Which is always on an offbeat anyway.) Perfect Get: Song Lyrics 3 (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Today's catch... will feed us for a month! Just/OK: Today's catch... is probably edible! Try Again: Today's catch... will be from the drive-through! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set 10..................................................................(SET10) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You're in the final stretch! Nothing can't stop you now!.... except maybe the Remix, but whatever! We'll deal with it once we get there. You can do it, I believe in you! You should also believe in yourself, who believes in me! Your rhythm is the rhythm that will pirece the heavens! *pose* Sorry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Figure Fighter 2........................................................(G10-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: The problem with being the champ is that everyone wants to take your title away from you. Defend it! (No practice.) Personal Description: The miniture fighter is back again with a brighter, golden feel. You are the champion after all. The Muscle Doll is dressed in more red and is punching in time with a more intense version of the original tune. The basic pattern is a little different and throw more combination punches this time around. Keep punching to show who's the real champ. Personal Thoughts: The music like montage music. I mean seriously, just listen to it. Tip(s): Yeah, don't forget to pump at the very start when the screen is pitch black. Having troubles with the offbeat, second jab for the basic pattern? The crowd still bounces and at certain point, the lights in the background also flash. Pressing A inbetween the flashes/bouncing might be able to net you that offbeat pump. In the middle, it'll throw a lot of fast "One-two!"s at you to be ready to press A quickly. Like the original, if you mess up the last second "One-two!", you'll be downgraded to a Just OK rank. Perfect Get: Parental Controls (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: You defended your title, champ! Just/OK: Keep your guard up. Try Again: What went wrong out there? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Micro-Row 2.............................................................(G10-2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Unbelievable! The microbes' behavior has changed! They're somehow more... jaunty. We'll have to observe them closely. Personal Description: One of the few post-credits games that add in a new audio cue. Along with pressing A every other beat and the triple stroke, you have the double stroke. When you hear a "fwoop-fwoop!" sound, almost like someone whislting, press A twice, once on beat and the other on the offbeat. You ready for the new cue? The music this time around adds in more guitar. The visuals don't change much, like Screwbot Factory 2. The path they swim in is different though. Check it out! Personal Thoughts: While a nice addition, I think this Fever could have done without a second Micro-Row and instead could have used a different game that was insanely short. *coughboardmeetingcough* Yup. Tip(s): If you screw up enough when you start turning around to go the other way, you can probably kiss that Superb rank goodbye. So don't panic when the microbes start moving in a completely different direction. Same deal with the original Micro-Row. You can hear a snare drum, and clapping, in the music that's being hit only when you need to press A. Perfect Get: Journal of Tiny Science (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: This is the greatest discovery since fire! Just/OK: With some more research, this could be big! Try Again: We've lost our funding... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Packing Pests 2.........................................................(G10-3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: We've still got a lot of product to sort. Can we count on you for some overtime? A lot of overtime? Personal Description: And the second and final post-credits game to have a new audio cue.... and be basically rewoked completely. Unlike the original Packing Pests, this one has it so the spider is on the offbeat. Think of it like the "Double up!" cue, except there's no cue and there's only one spider. The new cue shows a exclamation mark (!) in a spikey yellow bubble. A "TING!" sound will accompany the visual. With this, it throws the candy and spider like it would, except the candy ends up on the offbeat and the spider is on beat. It's still candy first, then a spider, but the timing is different. The music is a little faster and is actually slightly shorter, but that means they fit in a few more curveballs and definitely that new cue. Personal Thoughts: Hey, the dude grew some hair. Guess he decided to stop waxing it or what? I really like this one more, because the way it sounds when you get everything right. The way the SFX matches up with the music is so satisfying. Did you have any idea what syncopating meant before this game? I didn't! Tip(s): Be patient with the new rhythm. There's a longer pause before the next candy pops out. It can't changed and it's not going to throw a random spider out at you. It'll always be a candy thena spider, unless it's the "Double up!" cue, in which it'll still be candy, then two spider. Perfect Get: Packing Pests 2 (Listen to Music) Rank Messages: Superb: Spider free for another day! Just/OK: I've earned a rest... Try Again: I might have to put in some more overtime... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karate Man 2............................................................(G10-4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Karate Joe's intense training regime continues. Can you help him reach the height of mastery? (No practice.) Personal Description: The final game before the final Remix and hey look! It's Karate Man! They sure do love that Karate Joe. (And so do I!) This time around, it's set in an orange palette, like the DS game did, rising white.... soot? I'm still not sure what the heck that's suppose to be. Regardless, this one is a little longer that throws more offbeats and has a few more pauses between the lightbulb and the combo. Of course, it's also a little bit slower, but don't think that means it'll be easier. Train in a volcano, like you've always wanted! Personal Thoughts: Of course they chose Karate Man as the last normal game of Fever. It's practically needed for this game to be included the pre-credits and post-credits sections. Tip(s): Not a whole lot I can say for this besides the shadow bit can help you here too. Do not ignore my almighty adivce! (But you can choose not to use it I guess...) Perfect Get: A Musical Term (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: HIIIIYAAAAAH!! Just/OK: I must focus my power... And retie my belt... Try Again: Still...hungry... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remix 10................................................................(REG10) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Let's mix things up! This one will test you on everything you've learned! It's pretty tough. (No practice.) Personal Description: THE final Remix of the game. It throws every game, and even a couple games you wouldn't have really thought of, at you. It's all set to a fairly fast paced medley. Some of them segments are faster than their originals, others are slower. It's the ultimate Remix. Can you conquer the king of all Remixes? Personal Thoughts: You've come a long way and you're met with this sucker of a Remix. It's long and it throws some curveballs at you near the end of it. But really, once you get it, you'll feel really satisfied. I rather like this one since I can play this and just brush up on all of the games at once when I feeling a little rusty. Order of Games: Packing Pests Shrimp Shuffle Board Meeting Micro-Row Double Date Donk-Donk Fork Lifter Air Rally Cheer Reader Figure Fighter Samurai Slice Flock Step Built to Scale Screwbot Factory Bossa Nova Hole in One See-Saw Monkey Watch Catch of the Day Exhibition Match Launch Party Love Rap Tambourine Tap Troupe Flipper-Flop Karate Man Rhythm Test Ringside Working Dough Night Walk Packing Pests Tip(s): If you're looking at this before actually playing the Remix, don't worry about the harder versions of games. They only use the original, first versions in this final Remix, so no complicated patterns, and in the case of Micro-Row and Packing Pests, no new inputs. There are quite a few parts that might get harder as you try and keep a beat by tapping your foot or whatever. Don't, just let it flow and you'll probably be easier to get. Sometimes it's better to let yourself relax. Fork Lifter is a good example, as it's gives you an offbeat pea followed by an on beat peas and that has screwed me up various times because I was trying to hard to time it. Get ready for Flock Step after Samurai Slice is done. You'll get the "...3 4!" count like normal, but since this is faster, you'll either need good reflexes or this knowledge hardwired into your brain. The count down cue is also given while still on the Samurai Slice segment. On the subject of Flock Step, it's kinda odd. You do two flapping jumps, but sometimes the second one is cut off when going into the Built to Scale segment. Take what you will, but to be safe, release A+B when you should to avoid being smacked from behind. Bossa Nova actually starts on the right side, unlike all the times before it. One of the few times you should be looking at the screen if this game isn't hardwired into your brain. The same deal with Tap Troupe, but the "1 2 3 4!" count is while Tambourine is still on screen, so listen hard for that audio cue. Tap Troupe to Flipper-Flop to Karate Man. The way it's set it is basically a "keep the beat" game. Just keep pressing A to the beat. As it is, unless you know exactly when Tap Troupe and Flipper-Flop end, it's safer to just keep pressing A to the beat. You won't accidentally march from the transiation from Tap Troupe to Flipper-Flop. Did you expect the Rhythm Test? I didn't. Don't worry, it's the part where it counts down and takes out a few counts before you need to press A. You can tell you got it perfectly when Cam's eyes go sparkly and he smiles. Did you give Night Walk a chance? No? Then you better give it chance now! It's part of this Remix and knowing what to do in it will help. Also, when Marshal arrives in on the balloons, the first jump should make it look like he teleported to the ground from his jump off of the balloons. Don't time it with the visual, time it with the music. You gotta keep in mind that fake ending.... and then the other fake ending. As clarification, pressing A whenever you want during the Rhythm Test segment and failing to press anything at all for the Night Walk segments kills your perfect run. Just so you know. The biggest thing I have to say for this is PRACTICE! It's been quite a while since I've ever typed that out, but really, nothing can help you get by it more then having good experience with this one. I mean, look at all that stuff to keep track of in this! That's a lot of stuff to remember. Perfect Get: Final Words (Read Something) Rank Messages: Superb: Friendship means... enjoying the day together! Just/OK: Friendship means... shared danger! Try Again: Friendship means... meeting new people...or snails. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cafe...................................................................(CAFAE) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Cafe is immediately unlocked once you get a passing grade on Hole in One for the first time in that file. It's right beside Hole in One. There are 4 options you can choose from in the Cafe. The little dog icon will pop up for the first time when you unlock it. If you've failed a game 3 or more times and are stuck, you'll see a little dog icon pop up over the Cafe button. If you go the Cafe, Barista ask if you've been have a hard time with the game you're on. You are then given 3 options. You can either have Barista show you how to do it, skip it or decline on his/her offer. If you chose "Show me how!", Barista will show you a "demo video." It will be displayed on that red TV you saw in the Cafe. Of course, it's not a tiny, tiny screen you're looking at. The demo video will show a Perfect run of the game, literally showing you how to play it, timing and all. Once it's over, if you fail that game 3 times again, you'll get a chance to skip it again... or view the video again. Whatever you like. If you chose "Let's skip it!", then Barista will insta-unlock the next game for you. If you check the game Barista allowed you to skip, you'll see it has an OK rank on it. Then there's "No, thanks," which is exactly what it means. You won't get any sort of help and if you end up changing your mind, you have to fail that game 3 times again for Barista to ask you if you want some help. Keep in mind, you cannot skip Hole in One, Remix 7 or Remix 10. This is because Hole in One is before you even have the Cafe, Remix 7 is the game that unlocks the credits to the game, so they don't want people to cheap their way into "beating" the game without putting their own effort into it and Remix 10 is the last game of the entire game and the ultimate test. Once you've gotten a Perfect on every game, the dog icon will pop up. Hmmm, seems like he wasnt to congratulate you.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talk to Barista.........................................................(TLKWB) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barista doesn't do a whole lot when you select this option. They'll give some general tips or just talk to you. You can only talk to Barista once and then they'll say they're busy with customers. One important thing Barista can do is notify you when a Perfect chance is coming around and for what game. So if you're curious as to what game will pop up talk to Barista. Aside from this, I don't really know if there's a point to talking to Barista. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Listen to Music.........................................................(LST2M) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you've gotten a few Perfects, you would have unlocked some music by then. These vary from posters, conversations between characters, diaries, basically anything you can read. You start out with the first one in the list, so yeah. I'm also going list these by starting with the left side, top to bottom, then the right side, top to bottom. That's the order it's suppose to go in. ------------- #1 [Welcome!] ------------- Thanks for buying Rhythm Heaven Fever! We've created a bunch of fun rhythm games for you. Everyone has rhythm--even those who don't think they do! We hope you'll enjoy finding your own rhythm. So have fun and enjoy all the game has to offer. ----------------- #2 [Golf Lessons] ----------------- I was practicing all the time, but my golf game just wasn't improving. A friend recommended that I see a golf coach he knew, and I figured it couldn't hurt. I went to our meeting place, expecting a middle-aged guy in ugly pants. That...wasn't what I got. Monkey: "Hi! You can call me Monkey. I'm going to show you some tricks to improve your score." Mandrill: "Hellooo! I'm a mandrill! I help Monkey out sometimes." I thought about asking for their qualifications, but before I knew it, I was showing them my swing. Monkey: "Great form! You just need to work on your timing." Mandrill: "And REAL golfers can hit a ball no matter what. Even if it's moving. Fast." Monkey: "See that whale that kinda looks like an island out there? When I give you the cue, swing toward that." Mandrill: "And remember that it's not about power. Listen for Monkey's cue, and time your swing on that." Monkey: "Oo kiii." Golf ball: *clunk* Mandrill: "Not bad. But anyone can get one lucky shot. You're gonna have to practice, and practice hard!" And that was the day my REAL gold education began... ------------------------- #3 [Inductrial Espionage] ------------------------- At a secret hideout in an undisclosed loction under a heavy veil of mystery and darkness... Leader: "All right, tell me what you've discovered in your surveillance." Spy: "Of course. The factory has begun production on a top-secret, extremely advanced new design. I've confirmed at least two different models, the larger one approximately 200 feet tall and weighing about 60,000 tons. The final phase of assembly is when the screw the head to the body. This is tricky, and if it's done wrong, the robot has to be scrapped. The workers on that part of the line are pretty tense, obviously, so they've been playing some soothing music to help with the work. When each robot is completed, it says a code phrase and the heart symbol on its chest glows with appreciation." Leader: "I see... So the music is how they've kept production so high. We'll need to stop that somehow if we're going to beat them. All right. Go continue your surveillance. Alert me to any changes. Spy: Uderstood. And if I'm discovered, you'll extract me from the enemy factory full of 200-foot robots, right? ...Right? ------------- #4 [Partners] ------------- See: "Hey, Saw." Saw: "What's up, See?" See: "How many years have we been working together?" Saw: "Let's see... It was two years before I got martied, so that's... 10 years." See: "That long already! Time really does fly." Saw: "Just think: 10 years of 'een-oon, ba-bom.'" See: "Woooow... I'm amazing that I'm still not sick of it." Saw: "Seems like I've been falling on my rump more and more lately... Sorry about that, See." See: "Hey, I've been the one falling onto my head for those handstand jumps. I'm the one who should apologize, Saw." Saw: "No, no. I fall on my bum WAY more. I'm sorry." See: "But my head smashes are way creepy, so I'M sorry." Saw: "So hey, how is your neck, anyway?" See: "It's OK. How about you, Saw? Your bum's not sore of anything?" Saw: "Nah. Thanks, though." See: "Say, the kids'll be showing up to play at the park pretty soon." Saw: "We better get to work, then, keeping them off this unsafe seesaw. Heh." ---------------- #5 [My Feelings] ---------------- I've always wanted to learn the guitar but never had the nerve to try. When I did finally get up the courage, I found that SHE worked at the local music shop. She told me I had nothing to be afraid of, that playing guitar was simple. Easy for her to say--everyone knows her band is big in Japan. I didn't have enough money to buy one that day, but she let me try out a guitar and showed me some chords. I came back a lot over the next six months while I saved up my allowance. Now I've bought my guitar, I've started a band, and I'm practicing a lot. I even wrote a song for her. Only problem is I can't bring myself to play it for her. So instead, I'll invite her to our first live show. After school, we sat on a bench together while I tried to work up the courage to giver her the ticket I got her. My throat was parched, and my mind was racing. For some reason, some weasels were looking at us... And then a strange thing happened. A soccer ball came at us, and I reflexively gave it a good kick. It felt great! It calmed me down too. Even the weasels seemed happy. So I started kicking away my feelings... -------------------------- #6 [First-Day Orientation] -------------------------- *cough* (Excuse me.) First of all, let me welcome and congratulate all of our... *ah-CHOO* new employees. Next, I need to tell you the most important thing you can know about working at our company: Wherever you are, whatever you do here, from the assembly line to Accounts Payable, remember to mind the flow. For proof, consider our executives seated there. They all came from humble origins but rose to the top because they embrace flow. If you want to climb the ladder here, you've got to develop your flow! All right, everyone. Stand up and repeat after me: One! Start the spin smoothly and flow to a halt. Two! At lunchtime, season freely with flowing pepper and salt. *Ahhh-CHOOOOO!* (Excuse me.) ------------ #7 [Ad Copy] ------------ Do you hate ooking at your watch, afraid of how late you are to your meeting, date, or appointment? Veteran: "I gotta tell you, my heart skipped a few when you missed the fuel orb that Mr. Game & Watch was riding." Rookie: "I'm really sorry about that. It makes me all emotional just thinking about it." Veteran: "None of that. Crying will just make you all gooey. Try and stay dry until you get home from work." Rookie: "It's a good thing See and Saw were waiting below and ready to fling Mr. Game & Watch onto the ship!" Veteran: "Yeah, I keep them ready in case emergencies like that come up." Rookie: "That was you? Wow, you are so on top of thing! I hope to be half as good as you someday." Veteran: "Just take it one day at a time, kid. Now turn off the lights. It's time to go home." Forthington: "Hey, Baxter, you hear about the new doughnut shop? You can get a doughnut covered in marshmallows, candy, and tiny little doughnuts!" Baxter: "Ugh. I'll pass. There's such a thing as restraint, you know." Forthington: "Come on, let's just checkit out. Live a little!" Baxter: "Forthington, I'm not going to repeat myself. If you want to go wallow in lard, you can go by yourself, glutton." Forthington: "What did you call me?! Oh, that's it, Mr. Leafy Greens! Eat THIS." With a mighty THWACK, Forthington launches the birdie at Baxter's face. Baxter: "Hrmph. Gotta do better than that, glaze breath." Baxter smacks the birdie right back at Forthington. Forthington: "It looks like the old dog knows some tricks, but how will you cope if I change up the distance?" Forthington accelerates toward the horizon and then belts the birdie at Baxter. *THWACK!* Baxter: "So soft and sweet. Just like those dougnuts you like." *THWACK!* The rally continues for over twenty minutes. Forthington: "Ok, for an old dog with no taste, you're actually pretty good at air badminton!" Baxter: "You're not so bad for a sour puss either." Baxter: "Whew! That was a workout! I could eat a salad bar!" Forthington: "Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we go to the doughnut shop?" Baxrer: "..." Forthington: "Come on, Baxter. Doughnut cover in tiny doughnuts. You know you want one." Baxter: "All right..." The two planes back across each other's paths, making surprisingly doughnut-shaped vapor trails as they fly off for a well-deserved snack. ----------------------- #11 [Parental Controls] ----------------------- Some: "Mom! My students and I have been working day and night to catalog our newest data. Then today I received a vial from the mysterious Rhythm League, and its contents astounded me! The microbes in the vial moved in sync with each other. And not just one or two, but countless microbes all moving in time! I am sure they represent an important discovery. We must keep studying them. Day X: The microbes appear to have lost their initial vigor. They move sluggishly, unhappily bumping into each other. If they continue like this, I will have to abandon my research. What could be wrong with them? Day Y: The microbes still seem sad and listless. The team and I are exhausted, and nothing we have tried has improved their condition. We must do something--if not for them, then for our own morale. Some musi might lift our spirits... Day Z: Astonishing! As soon as I put the music on, the microbes brightened, moving in time and colorful again! I'm not sure how, but the microbes feed on the music in a process I shall call "rhythmesis." The music's effect is undeniable. The microbes have resumed their tiny, dancing march. Where could they be headed? We still have so much to learn about them... We have already gained from our research, though. I find myself walking with a spring in my step now! ------------------------ #14 [Picky Eaters' Song] ------------------------ I am called the Wandering Samurai, due to my devotion to the samurai code of Bushido and my generally poor sense of direction. ~As the sun dips below the horizon, the Wandering Samurai rests his weary body on the groups of an old temple.~ "I'm so very tired from all the wandering I did today..." ~Before he is even aware of it, the samurai is asleep and dreaming...~ On onion. "Son, if you are so picky about food, you'll never grow up to be a proper samurai!" "Yes, Mother!" When I wake, the sun is high in the sky. Standing nearby are two children. The boy holds a pinwheel, the girl a rice ball. "Mama said this was for you." My stomach growls as my eye meets the rice ball. I am indebted to you." I gratefully accept the rice ball. It is delicious. Let's start with the small fry: The Quicknibble is an adorable little orange fish with no sense of self- preservation whatsoever. It'll usually taste your bait twice then just bite into it, at which point you can simply yank it out of the water. The Pausegill, on the other hand, is a cautious fish. It generally invests in mutual funds and treasury bills. Also, it waits a beat after tasting the bait before biting. I don't know why it bothers-- it's not like it ever checks the bait and goes "Nah." Finally, there's the creepy Threefish. This intimidating guy like to check the bait very thoroughly with his tongue. After the check, he likes to give the worm a count of three to let the fear set in...then he strikes! I hope these tips will help you land the big one next time you're out! Ann Glerr signing off! ------------------------ #16 [Expedition Journal] ------------------------ April 16 Today, our expedition team is set to arrive at our destination. It's strange, though... No matter how many steps forward we take, we seem to be right back where we started. Am I just imagining things? April 20 We ran into a major storm that made it difficult to move and impossible to see. I thought our one-flipper-roll strategy probably wasn't going to cut it, so I went to the captain, hoping he'd reconsider our tactics. He just said, "Good joooob!" After a moment, he added, "Nice!" ...I guess U just have to trust the captain... April 21 The one-flipper-roll strategy was a failure. I thought it was time to deploy our ultimate weapon. I went to the captain and said, "It's time to try the ten-flipper-roll strategy!" In a strong yet reassuring voice, he told me, "Well done!" I believe in our captain. April 22 The ten-flipper-roll strategy left the entire expedition team dizzy and disoriented. "Captain! What should we do?!" My voice echoed across the frigid tundra. And then I heard his strong, reassuring voice: That's it!" Ca-Captain...really? I...I believe in our captain. --------------------------- #17 [Birds of the Universe] --------------------------- Did everyone have a refreshing break? Wonderful! Please, let's try to keep things orderly! "Tweet, twe-twe-tweet, tweet, squawk!" I don't understand! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! Ahem. Let's continue our tour, shall we? As I was saying, the Huebirds are lovely creatures with their own ideas about order. Next, we'll be examining an altogether different species, the Eloquent Tapir, who I'm sure you all will enjoy conversing with. -------------------- #18 [Rhythm Rockets] -------------------- Hello, and thank you for your interest in Rhythm Rockets! That was what I thought every minute of every day after I moved to this town. Then I saw the most important flyer on the most important cafe bulletin board of my life. The flyer read "Tap star wanted!" I knew this was my big chance. On the day of the audition, there were three other young guys waiting with me in the studio. There were four gray boxes lined up neatly in a row on a desk in front of us. We had no idea what they were for. A bearded man wearing a yellow box on his head burst into the room with a hearty "Welcome! Welcome!" "You guys look great! Long legs, symmetrical heads-- you have all the right stuff to become tap stars!" "OK, now. Would you all please put these boxes on your heads?" I had a decision to make. Would I put this box on my head and risk looking silly for a chance at stardom? Of course I would. "YES. Bravo. BRAVO! You made it. You all made the cut!" And that's how I began my climb to tap stardom... --------------------- #21 [Pep-Squad Rules] --------------------- O Energy is key! O Everybody pitches in to clean the practice room. It's like everyone just decides what it means and passed their judgement and expects me to behave in a certain way. I mean, first of all, it's my name, like my actual, this- is-what-my-birth-certificate- says NAME. It doesn't reflect me as a person. And why, words can mean more than one thing, you know? Just because the first thing YOU think of is some happy-go-lucky sap doesn't mean... Ugh. I know, I come in here every week and spend the whole session griping about this. You're probably tired of hearing about it by now. Do you ever have problems like this? Do peopel just look at you and assume that you're into, I dunno, copy what people do?" "Oookii oook-ook!" "Right, right. My therapy is about me and my problems, not you. Anyway, thanks for listening. I'll see you next Tuesday for another session of 'Mr. Upbeat's complaints.'" ------------------------- #23 [Investigation Notes] ------------------------- xx/xx/20xx "It's July though November" was the tip from the mystery man working at the Built to Scale factory. The "Assembly-Line Slogans" document he wrote looks suspicious. We'll definitely want to investigate that. ------------------- #24 [Song Lyrics 1] ------------------- Tonight Song by Tsunku? Arrangement by Yusuke Itagaki (Remix 3 Theme) Shiv'ring cold on a big city night, Well, that's how you found me, way back then. And in the startled blink of an eye, I knew my life was forever changed. Walking on a high wire, And if that's how life's gonna be, Then I should have all the fun that I can, Yeah, that's a lot more like me. Tonight's that night, Right here, right now, I swear. I'll walk in to the future without a care, yeah, Tonight when all my tears have come and gone, I'll say good-bye to all yesterday's sad songs, yeah, And there may come a time when I will hesitate, But waiting's part of life, now. Tonight's the night, please hear me out to the end. Could you please be the one, my carefree firned, yeah. Tonight I need my dreams to all come turn. Please tell me if that sounds like a plan to you, yeah. I know that it may sound too simple to be ture, But hey, well, that's life too. But hey, well, that's life too. ------------------- #25 [Song Lyrics 2] ------------------- I love you, My One and Only Song by Tsunku Arrangement by Naoki Tanaka (Remix 8 Theme) What can I do, What can I do? The only one for me is you, WHat can I do, What can I do, What can I do? ------------------- #26 [Song Lyrics 3] ------------------- Beautiful One Day Song by Tsunku Arrengement by Kaoru Okubo (Remix 9 Theme) They say it's still just nothing by a man's world. They say it's just too hard to find yourself. (But then when) you dance you feel good, (And you know) you got 'em going, (And you know) your moves are real good, (And you know) that you are beautiful. I just want to shine, I want to be in love now. I just want to shine, I want to be in love now. You know you can't just leave the past behind you, You know know you can't just live a life of shining glamour. Ah, the music plays on and on, Oooh, as you walk around the town. And the teardrops just keep falling down, And the teardrops just keep falling down, And the teardrops just keep falling down because... I only wish I knew. Someday you'll find yourself and realize that you're beautiful. (So then when) love takes you down again, (And it break) your geart in pieces, then just Let the teardrops fall like gentle rain. That's when you'll find yourself and realize that you're beautiful. (And you might) just start heal then, (And you might) find your heart whole again, And you will find what you're looking for after all. ------------------- #27 [Song Lyrics 4] ------------------- Lonely Storm Song by Tsunku Arrangement by Yusuke Itagaki (Karate Man Theme) Baby, I'm a broken man, I'm just a shattering storm. In the end, I choose my solitude. No! I can't go back to my days of innocence. Can't go back, there is no return. Another cycle of seasons has passed us by and I can't help Wonder, I wonder, I wonder just where you are now. I hear from everyone that you are different and that you are Yet more beautiful than before. Woah... If you say that you are happier now and that's just the way you Feel about everything now, Well then I guess it's just that way that it is... ------------------- #28 [Song Lyrics 5] ------------------- Dreams of Our Generation Song by Tsunku Arrangement by Kaoru Okubo (Night Walk Theme) You and I've been through a lot together. That's just the way the story goes. Even though your heart breaks And you're down on your knees, Anyway, you'll laugh again someday. And if you're down, You'll get up again. Dust off a bit, And go along your way. But don't you know You might find, before too long, You're on your knees once again. Let's spread our wings, now, Do anything, now, Somehow we came this far. I've got a choice now, I hear your voice now, Singing inside my heart. Let's spread our wings, now, Into the sky now, Let's reach up to the sun. Yes, you! In front of the TV! Congratulations on getting a Perfect on Remix 10! Nicely done! Oh, and thanks so much for just playing this far into the game! It's always gratifying when someone goes to the trouble, you know? We've been watching you doing your best, playing real hard. It's inspiring. Did you have fun? Was it hard to get here? Maybe you had friends who say it was easy. Hmph. Whatever. But let's walk about you some more! You probably found your sense of rhythm improving, huh? ...Right? If you haven't already done so, you should totally have your friends try out this game. You know there's a two-player mode, right? All right, let's say it was your desint to battle an evil wrestler army, and only you could do it. You might be sad that you had such a rough destiny ahead of you. But what if, by battling the evil wrestler army, you could make a lot of people smile? Then you think, "That's a pretty good destiny." That's all we wanted to say. Hopefully we'll see you out there again sometime. Enjoy you evening. --This message brought to you by the mysterious Rhythm League. --- END --- You'll notice that #29, #30 and #31 don't get unlocked by anything when getting a Perfect. These three unlock once you get all Perfects. You wanna know what they are?.... well, you're here, right? I'm pretty sure you've already looked at it by now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhythm Test.............................................................(RTHMT) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, if you ever felt like you want to go back and do the Rhythm Test again, you can in the Cafe. Just in case. The Rhythm Test is basically to get you to understand your own rhythmical sense. A monitor will scroll down on screen and you can see your own inputs live. At the top of the monitor is "Early", the bottom "Late" and in the middle is a highlighted line, which is the "perfect" marker. When the tests start, a dot will fall from top ot bottom. Pressing A will stop the dot. I'm sure you can guess the rest from that. First you'll be tested by a simple "keep the beat" test. Just press A in time with the beat you're given. After, they'll tell you obvious things like "if the dots are above the line, you're pressing too early," or the opposite. Next, they'll give a count down from 7. On the beat after "1", you have to press A. As you get along in the test, they'll start muting the count down, making you rely on your own skills to keep a beat. They'll even cover up the monitor so you have to really rely on your ears and sense of rhythm. The last thing they'll teach you is the A+B input. They don't do a whole lot for this. It's basically, "Oh yeah, you can do this," like an after thought. I don't mind too much, since it's easy to do. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhythm Toys.............................................................(RTOYS) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhythm Toys are back again.... it seems less abundant then before though, doesn't. Oh well. They's only 4 games this time around, but the last one is pretty creative. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Toy Car.................................................................(TOYS1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Pull back. Let go. What could be simpler? The simple Toy Car will be unlocked after you get your first medal. The concept is to press and hold A to pull back a toy car. When you let go, it'll travel forward. The "goal" is to have it match up with the lighter version of the car that's already in place. That's it. You don't anything special from what I recall, so there's no point besides having a feeling of accomplishment I guess. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Police Call.............................................................(TOYS2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: This "toy" is actually an investigation tool. When you discover anything suspicious, communicate with your informants here. The deep and meaningful Police Call "toy" will be open to you once you have 7 medals. You remember the "Phone" toy in Rhythm Heaven? Well, if you don't, you could put in some phone numbers hidden around the game and get interesting sounds. It's back in Fever, but instead of numbers, it's words. Don't worry, they're basically hidden in the same fashion; Endless Games. This requires you to point the Wiimote at the screen to input letters, cellphone style. You can backspace, confrim a current letter, and send what you have typed out on the screen. If you put in a correct word, you'll get a phone call, using sound found with the game. So, in case you're lazy, I'll list all of the codes that I've found to work and where to find them for yourself if you feel like it. MATCH Once your score hits 130, the little green light will grow and spell it out, then go back to normal. BOUTS After you clear one set of pots (5 points), every seed you plant will yeild a letter, spelling this word. SEESAW At some point in the Kung Fu Ball Two-Player Endless Game, when punching the ball on the inner bamboo poles, you'll see a truck with this word on it drive by behind the arc you couldn't see through before due to the angle, decently fast too, so pay attention! GOLFHERO When you start up the 4th set of rowing, 2 of the boarding planks will have the first two letters of this code, GO. The next few will have the rest, showing only 2 letters each time. BIRDS In Muchy Monk, when the train is in an area with signs propped up, each sign will have one letter of this word. There should be an blank sign at the end of it. STAFF Wait, what? This wasn't hinted anywhere in the game! That's right. To find this one, you had to have watched some of the Rhythm Heaven Fever trailers on YouTube. At the end of 4 trailers, it hinted people by capitalizing and colouring certain letters in red. The hint ended up as TXTMSG"STAFF"...IN A 7 MEDAL TOY!" So yeah. Fancy, ain't it? Once you get a Perfect rank in Remix 2, you'll notice it hints at the Assembly-Line Slogans, but you need to get a Perfect rank on Built to Scale 2 first. You'll notice that certain words in the Slogans are highlighted in red. Since you're looking at this, you already know where to find the codes, but if you put in "SPIKE", "CLOCKWORK", "POSITIVE", "AFLOAT" or "FEED", the highlighted words from the July to Novermber slogans, you'll get a tip from a "tipster" telling you that you can find a hidden code in Kung Fu Ball, Wake-Up Caller, Mr. Upbeat, Pirate Crew, or Munchy Monk respectively. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi-Hat..................................................................(TOYS3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Have you plated a hi-hat before? If you have, this'll be a cinch. If not, enjoy this opportunity to learn and grow as a person. This living percussion instrument, Mr. Hi-Hat, can be yours for a measly 14 medals! This toy is pretty interesting and holds some nostalgia for the gamers who have played both the original GBA and DS games. You're Mr. Hi-Hat, the... hi-hat... yes. In order to play with this toy, pressing and holding A+B closes your "mouth" and letting go opens it again. Springs ressembling Mr. Upbeat tap on you. There's always a fat one at the end. Press and hold A+B so the smaller ones tap you with your mouth closed and the fat one when your mouth is open. This will start to make a beat. There are 3 different number of beats you can chose from, using the D-pad on the Wiimote. There's 4-beat, 8-beat, and 16-beat. If you're having torubles, the game auto matically offers a demo for you to get a grip on it. If you successfully keep it going, you'll start up some background music, and in turn, the main melody of a song. The 4-beat song is Blue Brids from the DS game. The 8-beat song is Rhythm Epliation, the hair-plucking game from the GBA. Finally, the 16-beat game is the title screen song from Rhythm Heaven Fever. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhythm Fighter..........................................................(TOYS4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Use rhythm in a new way--to knock out an opponent! (This game requires two Wii Remote controllers to play.) The interesting Rhythm Fighter will be unlocked at 21 medals. As a Rhythm Toy, it's pretty unique, being the only two-player toy and actually pretty competitive. In it, you and a friend take turns showing off a pattern of punches and kicks to a set amount of beats for a number of rounds and then dodging said pattern. To punch, you press A, to kick, press A+B. To dodge the punches and kick, simply copy the same inputs for punches and kicks. The game will give you an example of how many possible hits are in a round. Good to note that if you're not perfectly timed with the beats, you won't do anything, so be sure your timing it right, otherwise you're only helping your opponent! It's always the same number of possible hits each time you start up Rhythm Fighter, so it never changes. It always goes: Round 1 = 4 beats (4 hits) Round 2 = 8 beats (8 hits) Round 3 = 4 beats with offbeats (8 hits) Round 4 = 8 beats with offbeats (16 hits) Round 5 = 12 beats (12 hits) Round 6 = 12 beats (12 hits) Round 7 = 8 beats with offbeats (16 hits) Round 8 = 12 beats (12 hits) Round 9 = 8 beats with offbeats (16 hits) Round 10 = 8 beats with offbeats (16 hits) Round 11+ = 12 beats with offbeats (24 hits) Along with shifting the number of hits you can throw, the tempo is also thrown around in this game. Usually, the faster it is, the harder the timing is. Once you hit 11+ rounds, which I have to give both of you props for being able to keep up with each other for this long, it'll always remain at 24 possible hits with tempo changes for each round until one of you fall. Seriously, I thought it was going to be done at 10 round, like a normal boxing match, but I was completely wrong about that.... You know, this could have been classified under a Endless Game. It technically never ends. If you're taking this seriously, the lights in the upper corners of the screen pulse with the beat of the music along with your boxer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Endless Games...........................................................(ENDLS) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Endless Games, we meet again at last... what's that? They took out Manzai Crows and replaced it with Mr. Upbeat? Awww. Oh well. Endless Games is where you unlock games that are.... endless. Uh, yeah, I dunno how to be more blunt than that. Games you start will obviously not end until you make a big enough of a screw up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Upbeat..............................................................(ENDL1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: Being unlocked at a measly 3 medals, there's a reason why. It's boring as all get out! In all seriousness, Mr. Upbeat is a returning game from the original GBA Endless Games. This game is also known as "the game that replaced Manzai Crows." But putting that aside, Mr. Upbeat isn't that bad. On every other beat, you have to press A to "hop" over a metronome needle, though it's more like step over. As you progress in the game it'll get faster and faster. Personal Thoughts: I myself have only gone into the early 200s, but that's because I couldn't bother myself to try for a better score. In all honesty, it's pretty boring. It's a nice throw back to the original GBA game, but the music is just the original training music sped up/slowed down to match the current tempo and.... it's just not a whole lot I want to do with it. Tip(s): There's a little green light on Mr. Upbeat's head that flashes when you should press A, so keep that in mind. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wake-Up Caller..........................................................(ENDL2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: The little alarm clock is ready to get to work at 11 medals! The game is about the inside of a cuckoo clock, where the bird in the clock is an actual bird. Said bird must make up at the right time to... toss a seed into some conveniently placed pots on a shelf to make them grow into flowers? Yeah I know, makes no sense, but hey, it's Rhythm Heaven. You control the clock and when he alarms. Before the bird goes to sleep, he tells you a time to wake up at. The speech bubble disappears on its own, so remember that time well. Personal Thoughts: It's interesting, but man, it's so slow and doesn't go really get going. I've only gotten up to 9 myself since it goes by so slow. There's the time it takes to actually start the game, the countdown to pressing A and the cutscene after you correctly time it. Hit or Miss: Superb: You wake up the bird on time to toss that seed into the pot. The seed turns into a full flower. OK: You're slightly off, but the bird will still pop out and plant the seed. The seed sprouts, but the flower doesn't have any petals. Try Again: You missed the alarm, the bird is shocked and it's too late to plant the seed now. Tip(s): In the tutorial, it only teaches you about # o' clock times and #:30 times, but when your score gets to 8 (you'll be trying for 9), it'll give you a #:40, where the beat uses the offbeat of the offbeat. Don't worry, you can hear the ticking of the clock like you normally would, and you'll hear it loud and clear. Once your score gets to 9 (trying for 10), the ticking of the clock will fade along with the counting, so it'll be testing you abilities to keep a beat. It will return, but never expect it to always be there. Again, when your score gets to 10 (trying for 11), this is where the "a.m." and "p.m." times matter. Before it was all just a.m. and 12 p.m. At this point it'll start throwing you a time beyond 12 counts and also start speeding up the overall tempo of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Munchy Monk.............................................................(ENDL3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: The monk you all know from the DS game shows up, revamped and ready for only 23 medals. The monk looks a little different, but the game assures us in a Read Something that it is, in fact, the same one from the game of the same name. So the monk will be feeding a familiar face this time around! You get handed eggs and peas by a girl, who has the person being fed, on her head. To feed the eggs to the person, you need to press A to... blow the egg into his mouth. Yeah, I know. To feed him the peas, you have to press and hold A+B to.... basically do the same thing in rapid fire. You'll get audio cues from the girl, who hands you said food. She'll either say "One, egg!" or "Hand full of peas!" The timing for both is the same, just a beat after she's done saying it. You start with 3 tickets, those being your lifes. Make that many mistakes, game over. By the way, did I mention this was on a moving train? I don't think it really matters, but whatever. Personal Thoughts: This song is pretty catchy. The fact that it's a form of Munchy Monk is also pretty nice. I don't understand why he looks so different now and the guy in Packing Pests looks more like the previous Muchny Monk. Whatever! Hit or Miss: Superb: You blow the egg and peas into the guy's mouth, flowers and stars beam from him shortly and the girl is happy. OK: There's technically barely missed inputs, but they get rid of tickets so I'm placing it under Try Again. Try Again: You blow the egg slightly off tempo, either causing it to hit the guy in the face or hit the roof of his mouth. When blowing the peas, they all end up hitting the guy's face or you don't feed all the peas to him. You can also try the incorrect inputs, cause the egg and peas to be blown away comically. Tip(s): The characters bounce to the beat of the music and nothing is offbeat from what I know. The game also keeps speeding up its tempo as it goes along and you can tell when the train start to slow down and then starts moving at normal speed again. The "Hand full of peas" command may change in length when it gets further into the game. Sometimes when the girl shows you the peas, it'll look like they're on sticks and when she hands them to you, it makes a "TWANG" sound. During the game, the girl will hand you a golden egg every once in a while. Said gives you another ticket. Too bad she usually gives you it at the very beginning of tempo shifts. Try your best to immediately adjust to the tempo change and get the golden egg! Also, the limit is 5 tickets, just so you know. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lady Cupid..............................................................(ENDL4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: An angle of love is ready to shoot some arrows for the price of 32 medals! This game revolves around an angel needing to shoot a bomb. Simply press A to shoot an arrow. Between you and the bomb are blocks that can be destoryed by shooting them. Becareful, you only a limited number of arrows before you run out. Once you shoot the bomb, you'll get some more arrows, just don't shoot too many. Lady Cupid will start from the left and scroll right until she's off screen and then scrolls back on from the left side and repeats. You need to time your shots to the beat of the music. Personal Thoughts: So, this game kind of gets boring after a while, but by that point, you've probably already ran out of arrows. I do, however, like the 8-bit style they went with to contrast.... everything else in this game. And that sample picture for the menu is awesome too. Perhaps if there's another Rhythm Heaven, she'll see some main game action? Tip(s): The game speeds up the tempo. Don't worry and calm down. If you don't think you can get a good shot, wait and get a grasp on the beat. This game has no timer and thus you can take as long as you want. As the game goes along, it'll replace the big bulky blocks with quadruple the number, making the pathway to hitting the bomb that much harder. Then later still, it'll give the blocks an extra hit, so you have to shoot it twice before it breaks. If you're going for a highscore, destorying/hitting less blocks means more points. For every blue/cracked brown block a bomb destorys, you get 10 points, 20 if it's a normal brown block. The bomb itself gives you 1000 points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Endless Remix...........................................................(ENDL5) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: Oh?! What's this? Why, it's a special game you get just for getting all Perfect ranks on all 50 games. You get this beast. While including Mr. Upbeat and Munchy Monk, this one adds three, count 'em, THREE new games and they don't even teach you how to play. You've got a basketball game, a frog game and a fly-eating game. The first is Girls' Basketball. Being one of only two members, you catch b-balls and free throwing it into the hoop. You simply press A+B to catch it, no need for anything else, like letting go at a certain time. Next up in the Frog Princess. You control the frog the princess is riding on. The frog will croak with a "DUNK-DUNK." Press and hold A on the beat after the second "DUNK" and let go a beat after that to jump. Finally, we have the Chameleon. You're the chameleon, ready to eat some flies. When a fly swoops in range, it'll make a "Bzzt, bzzt, BZZZT!" At that moment, you either need to press A or A+B to launch your tongue out at said fly. A for flies close to you, A+B for flies that are further away. Like all Endless Games, it keeps getting faster and faster as you go along, and this is of Remix quality, so try or die!.... Or not try at all, that works too. That was a lot. Personal Thoughts: This was quite the surprise when I first found this. To think, you actually got something other then unlocking all the music and extra reading material. I'm pretty sure this is the first Rhythm Heaven game that has actually given you anythiing for getting all 50 Perfects. Also, it's pretty hard to purposely almost miss an input for this! This took me a while to figure out the Hit or Miss for these since it's goes straight into the Remix. Hit or Miss: ------------------- [Girls' Basketball] ------------------- Superb: You catch your teammate's toss and free throw that ball through the hoop, said hoop saying "OK" in a familiar voice.... OK: You still catch and throw to the hoop, but the ball hits the rim of the hoop and bounces away. Try Again: They ball smacks you right in the face, making you reel back. --------------- [Frog Princess] --------------- Superb: You wind up and jump perfectly, the princess making a happy face with a note in a speech bubble. OK: You're a little late/early on the wind up or your jump is a little off, almost falling off the lilypads, either making the princess look worried with sweat marks. Try Again: You jump but don't make it, falling into the water, your wind up took too long and the princess just fell off or you try to wind up too early with similar results, ie the princess falling off. ----------- [Chameleon] ----------- Super: You eat the flies with no problem. OK: There is none. You either get it or you don't. Super clear cut game. Try Again: You're timing is slightly off and you graze the fly, as falls down off screen. Or just failed to try at all and it flies away, pun not intended for once. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extra Games.............................................................(EXTRA) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In this iteration of Rhythm Heaven, they felt it was appropriate to throw in some nostalgia for us hardcore Rhythm Heaven fans. These extra games can be unlocked just like the toys and endless games; with medals. They are 4 remasted games, both graphically and musically. You can only unlock this after you've got a passing grade on Remix 7 and seen the credits. You don't get anything for getting a Superb rank on these games, just a good feeling. In this case, I'll set this up like a normal game, but I'll take out the tips since it's not needed to unlock stuff or to achive a higher score. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Clappy Trio.........................................................(XTRA1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: The world-famour Clppy Trio neber misses a beat. You're the third in line, so just keep an eye on what the other two do! Personal Description: You are a group of monkeys, who dress up and clap to some awesome tunes. Like the message said, you're the third in line and you have to clap in the same rhythm as the other two. Simply press A to clap your hands. That's all there really is to it. Personal Thoughts: I love that they did this. The Clappy Trio was probably one of my more favourite Rhythm Tengoku games with a few others. With updated music and better sound, I was estatic to see this was in. You also see these guys spinkled throughout this game and the DS game as well. I love it. Hit or Miss: Superb: You clap when it gets to your turn. If there's enough time, all three of you will smile. OK: You clap, but instead you'll hear a "dink" sound and the other two look at you disapprovingly. Try Again: You clap, this time makes the "BOINK" sound, the other two still look at you disapprovingly. You can also not clap at all with the same results. Rank Messages: Superb: Trio-riffic! Just/OK: You need to make it to more of our practice sessions... Try Again: The trio just went solo! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sneaky Spirits..........................................................(XTRA2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Ghosts are trying to escape their haunted house! Grab your trusty bow, and don't you let them get past you! Personal Description: You are a bow, with no one in particular wielding it, and you have to shoot arrows, using the A button, at ghosts to hit them back into the house as they try to pass by. They keep in time with the beat of the song by popping their heads up, making a "Weh" sound. Occasionally the ghosts won't pop up and the music will fade, making you rely on your ability to keep a beat. Can you stop the ghosts from escaping? Personal Thoughts: The music is so nice. I find this song to be really relaxing, even though it has massive tempo changes in it. I also like how the ghosts look with their derpy buck teeth. Hit or Miss: Superb: You snag the ghost with that arrow and shoot him back into the house. OK: You're slightly off and the ghosts just barely dodge your arrow to the left or right if your early or late respectively before moving along. Try Again: The ghost freely escapes but not before waving his hands at you and sticking out his tongue. Rank Messages: Superb: No ghost escapes on your watch! Just/OK: You got one! Try Again: Escaped ghosts are nothing but trouble. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Power Calligraphy.......................................................(XTRA3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Have you have tried writing Japanese calligraphy? It requires grace, finesse, and a surprising amount of upper-body strength. Personal Description: You are a disembodied hand and arm, hold a brush to make beautiful Japanese calligraphy. You start by usually making a few brush strokes and then you power up for a final brush stroke, making your arm and hand tense up, turning red! To follow through with this, press A when you've fully powered up your arm. Aside from holding your brush down for a powered up stroke, you also can do a powered up press where you basically dot the page instead of making a stroke. It takes less time to power up a press. A stroke takes a full beat before pressing A, while the press takes half a beat. The game basically calls the press a stroke, which it is, but for the sake of clarity, I'll stick with press. Personal Thoughts: This is definitely one of my favourite Rhythm Tengoku games. It's just so quirky and odd that it's awesome. I also love the last one at the end and how a bunch of smaller people just walk in from the top and bottom at the sides of the screen. Hit or Miss: Superb: You complete a stroke or press flawlessly. OK: You perfrom the stroke or press, but you end up screwing it up, making a blotchy squiggle. When get to it, the people dancing along the side will fall over in disappointment. Try Again: You fail to perform anything at all. Like the one before, they people will fall over. Rank Messages: Superb: Horray for Japanese calligraphy! Just/OK: Who says calligraphy isn't fun? Try Again: Maybe I should stick with penciles... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tap Trial...............................................................(XTRA4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Message: Think you've got what it takes to tap-dance with the monkeys? (Has anyone ever written that sentence before?) Personal Description: You are the girl in the red dress and you must tap with the monkeys on screen. All you are required to press is A. Press A in time with their audio cues. Their "Ook" or whatever signals for one tap. They have a "Ki-ki" cue, which means tap twice. Next up is the jump, where they jump and land a few times, pressing when you land. Last is their "OoKIII!", meaning to tap three times. It's in time with the music, my good sir. Personal Thoughts: What did they do to the monkeys?! I can handle the revamp they did with the girl, but those monkeys are so friggin' tiny! What happened to the moderately sized monkeys from the original GBA game? What is this, I don't even. Hit or Miss: Superb: You tap and land in time with the monkeys. Nothing wrong here. OK: You tap or jump and it makes the same impact visual, but it'll make a "dink" sound. Try Again: Essentially the same as the barely missing it. When jumping, the girl will go "Oh," or "Kyaaa." You can tell you completely missed it when the giraffe will huff some... smoke? out of its nose and be sad. Rank Messages: Superb: It feels good to belong! Just/OK: Prrtty good...for a human. Try Again: Disappointing... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two-Player Mode.........................................................(2PLAY) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So you got a friend you wanna play with instead of taking turns playing single player games? Well, Rhythm Heaven Fever has got a surprise for you. New to the series, outside of the Japan only arcade Rhythm Tengoku, Fever has a two-player mode where you both compete and work together with a friend. You compete to see who has a better sense of rhythm by giving you a score out of 100, but in order to unlock more two-player games, you have to accumulate a high enough score. Also, there are Duo Medals. If you get a Superb rank in these two-player games, you get a Duo Medal, which unlocks "Endless Games" for two-player mode. There are a total of 8 two-player games. They are the single player games refitted to include a second person. Most of the time, you'll both be playing at the same time, but in some part, you'll take turns showing off while the other waits for theirs. One thing to note is that games only unlock as you unlock them in single-player mode. So if you go and look at them right as you unlock it, you'll only have Fork Lifter. Basically, the game is the exact same as it's single-player counterpart, what I said above. So I'll list what's different about the game, visual and gameplay wise. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fork Lifter.............................................................(DUOG1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's different: So Player 1 is the blue fork and player 2 is the orange fork. In the middle of the game, Player 1 and Player 2 will alternate for turns at catching the peas every once in a while. Not a whole lot different. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tambourine..............................................................(DUOG2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1 is a blue monkey while Player 2 is the normal, orange monkey. The background for this one is a creamy yellow kind of colour. Very easy on the eyes. On the 5th and 6th patterns, Player 1 will have to do the first 4 inputs while Player 2 has to do the last 3. The roles are reversed for the 7th and 8th patterns. The final 9th and 10th patterns resume going back to just both of you at the same time. Quite a mix up. Also to note something important, even if you do shake or smack the tambourine when it's not your turn, it won't matter. I tried it myself and I still managed 91 points for both players. If it lowers your points, it's not by much because within the 90s is my general point range when playing these two-player games. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ringside................................................................(DUOG3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1 is blue and Player 2 is orange, blah blah blah. Nothing changes at all. Neither take turns answer questions or posing so... it's just a straight copy of the original single-player game. Something to note, like Tambourine, is the fact that, even if you just screw around and press A or A+B whenever, as long as both of you correctly time the proper button inputs, you'll still get a rather high score. If you've ever seen that two-player Ringside video with both players posing nonstop, it actually works. It doesn't lower your score, and if I does, it's not by much. I still managed a Superb rank, and I did it twice to be sure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Micro-Row...............................................................(DUOG4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1 blue, Player 2 orange, same deal. Nothing changes besides being changed from a line of 3 to a line of 5. Yeah. Like the two before this one, you can press A whenever, as long as you're not messing up the timing. Again, if it does lower the score, it's not by much. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flipper-Flop............................................................(DUOG5) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1 blue, Player 2 orange. Like Micro-Row, nothing has changed besides Player 2 geting his own row of 3 seals. That's it. No, you can't do that shenanigans like the others before this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Launch Party............................................................(DUOG6) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1's launch box is blue, Player 2 orange yeah yeah, we know. Again, nothing is really different. However, during the stars part, Player 2 will be sent way back into the background. The both of you still need to play as normal, it's just Player 2 won't be able to see his count down as easy. Then Player 1 will be sent to the background and same deal, you have to keep going. This doesn't really do anything because the player who's in the background can just look at the one who's still normally on screen and yeah. It makes this a joke of a gimmick if you ask me. AGAIN, you can press A as much as you want. As long as you still successfully launch the rocket, you're fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tap Troupe..............................................................(DUOG7) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1 sports blues shoes and tie, Player 2 orange blah blah blah. The only difference here is that at some points, a spot light will be put on either player and then shift over to the other and then disappear. I'm not particularly sure what this does, but my guess is that it rate you harder if you screw up while the spot light is on you. I'm not sure. Both players still need to tap during the stop light of the other. ... Should to be surprised? This is just like all the others. You can tap in between beats and still get away with a high score, as long as you don't screw up your normal taps. This is stupid. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karate Man..............................................................(DUOG8) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's Different: Player 1 is... not blue?! Instead, it's white this time, and Player 2 is purple. The background is red instead of the pale blue in the original and lacks the falling snow. Yeah doing the combo, if you both broke the barrel, you'll both look and smile at each other. If one of you missed, the other will look at them disapprovingly while the one who missed either doesn't care or will be sad. This game is like Fork Lifter and Tambourine where there are segments that player 1 has to do solo and segments that player 2 has to do solo. The solo parts start up once it hits the fast singing parts of the song and for the awesome guitar solo. This shouldn't even be a surprise, but for different reasons. Punching or doing the combo when you're not suppose to won't lower your score. As long as you properly hit the pots and combo, you're fine. Makes sense considering Karate Man normally doesn't penalize you for punching and comboing when you're not suppose to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two-Player Endless Games................................................(2PEND) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, with all the normal two-player games out of the way, you decided to check out the Two-Player Endless Games, right?.... O-or you're checking it out just because you can. That works too. Just like the normal Endless Games, you only stop when you fail. Unlike the normal two-player games, these are not just straight copies of the normal Endless Games. They're all new games for you and a friend to play. This is more cooperative than competitive, as in get ready to play the blame game when one of screws up! ... Or you can just play it by youself like a LOSER.... like me. *cry* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clap Trap...............................................................(2END1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: The first Two-Player Endless Game only requires 1 duo medal to unlock. This one is simple on paper, but pretty hard in all honesty. You and your friend have to press A at the same time to stop a hand from karate chopping you on the end. You can afford to make 2 mistakes, but if you screw up a third time, it's game over. Also to note, the longer you can stay in it, the more different things appear to try and hit you. The high I've gotten to was 27 and I've seen the hand, a cat paw and a leek. If someone could tell me what other things might come down and try to hit, that would be highly appreciated. Tip(s): As the game goes along, it'll try and literally pull a fast one on you. Stay focused. There's also super slow ones that might be hard to keep track of. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mochi Pounding..........................................................(2END2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: The next game is unlocked right after, requiring 2 duo medals. Mochi Pounding is interesting. You and a friend have to pound some rice cake to make some uh.... living mochi. Don't ask. Anyway, the two of you alternate pressing A for the number stated on the mortar to pound that rice into paste! You only have 15 seconds to pound so be fast. Don't be greedy though, when one of you presess A twice in a row, you breack the mortar and have to start that number again. You have 3 tries for each number, so don't worry, you won't have to worry about having a set number of tried throughout the entire game. If you and your friend manage to find a nice synchronization between each other or you're playing by yourself, when you're pressing A alternatively fast enough, both of the guys on screen start to lowly yell "oooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!" for as long as you guys can keep it going or until you finish... or screw up. Tip(s): I honestly know nothing of how to do this with a friend.... *sniff* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kung Fu Ball............................................................(2END3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: Hey, it's Young Cricket!.... and some girl. But yeah, you unlock this one by getting 4 duo medals. The two players kick and punch a ball around until it breaks. Of course it wouldn't be kung fu without standing on poles of bamboo over water. It's basicly a "keep the beat" kind of game. A small, adorable kappa will pop out of the water to start you off and throw a large brown ball towards either of you. When you break that, a silver ball pops out of that. After that a gold ball! Finally, it just breaks into some various stuff. You have 3 hearts meaning you can only screw up 3 times. Every now and then the gold ball will hold a heart, so stay vigilant. If you're on the outside set of bamboo, you'll kick the ball, letting it hang in the air for 3 beats. Once you switch to the inner set, you punch it instead and it travels faster, 2 beats. You can also breath fire! They give you an audio cue of "Heat fu!", and you need to press A+B on the beat after that. Finally, there's a "Great Bird Claw Spike", where an audio cue of the same name will sound to pull of a spike, obviously. You hear "Great Bird", then press A on "Spike." After that, the other player will need to press A on the audio cue of "Pow!" It's all in time with the beat, so don't fret. The further you go in the game, the more the game tries to screw with the tempo. It'll stay the same tempo at first, but later you'll get to the point where it gets faster and faster after breaking the layers of balls. There's also a code somewhere, but I'm sure you've already seen it in the Police Call section by now. Tip(s): Be careful, along with speeding up the tempo, it can just as easily slow it down to crawling speeds. I think, however, that this game never changes the order of its tempo shifts or inputs, so you're probably safe there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pirate Crew.............................................................(2END4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: The pirate captain Jackie and her crew are ready to row for 6 duo medals. You and a friend are the two middle guys in 2 columns of people, ready to paddle. You row simply by pressing A. You're job is to not screw up and shake the boat while rowing, otherwise those pigs that your transporting will fall overboard. If you lose all the pigs, it's game over. When Jackie says "Everybody row," both you and your friend press A every other beat, in time with the music. When she says "Aaand left turn!", Player 2 has to press A every beat while Player 1 stays at the same rowing speed. Finally, she'll say "OK, right turn!", this time Player 1 has to row every beat while Player 2 only has to row every other beat. The game's tempo changes over time and every time you make it to a set and unload the pigs, more will come back on. The amount you get isn't dependant on how many you kept on board. It also gives you a set amount for said patterns, so even though you start with 6 pigs, the next one will give you 5. Some even give you only 1, so stay focused.... or get ready to play the blame game. Either one. Tip(s): The game always gives you the same patterns and the same tempo changes every time you play this game from what I know. The game gives you tens of points each time you row. To get more points, be perfectly spot on with a row. You can tell when your colour, (Player 1 blue, Player 2 red) resonates briefly from you while you flash white. If both players time it perfectly, you'll hear a "yeah!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bossa Nova..............................................................(2END5) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Description: Bossa Nova is turned two-player and endless at the same time for 8 duo medals and is the final of the Two-Player Endless Games. This game is pretty straight forward. Take what you know about Bossa Nova. Now throw in a human player instead the CPU player. That's basically it. The game never changes its tempo and is basically looping the original Bossa Nova song over and over again. It's not that bad, really it isn't. However, as you go along in this game, each hit will reveal a letter at a time. This ends up making a MASSIVE story that I'm not even sure if it ends or not. I myself have gotten up to a little over 1000 points and it honestly seems like a legitimate story is being told about Bossa and Nova and how they live their life. It seems like someone as recorded the full story. Turns out you reach the end at around 1142. I mean, literally, it has "THE END" on it. The first guy I've ever seen complete the story is a person by the name of MaxaNum on YouTube. He recorded it and already transcribed the entire story out. I'll be re-posting it here, but I highly encourage you to check out the video and heck, check out the rest of his channel! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIPsCAaVtGQ Bossa and Nova are one of those wonderful, charming, witty, urbane couples that their neighbors adore. They live in a split-level cave in the trendy part of Big Field with Fruit Trees. Bossa's work takes him all over Big Field, and the animals love him. He is especially popular among elderly animals, who appreciate his old-world manners. Nova is a well-known local artist whose paintings adorn all the best nearby caves. On this particular day, Bossa is taking a day off to help Nova move the largest painting she has ever done. It's going to a cave near Big Hole with Mastodon Skeleton in It. An art collector has already paid Nova quite a few shiny stones and flint tools for it. Working together, the two of them move the large painting into the cave and hang it on the wall. Then they step back and admire Nova's work in its new home. "It definitely makes the cave come alive," says the art collector, "but I'm afraid it just won't do. It clashes with the other pieces. Unless...I can comission some more of your work to replace them?" Bossa and Nova grin. It may be time for Bossa to quit his job promoting conch-shell perfomances and become Nova's full-time agent... Tip(s): A heads up, you only have 3 hearts, meaning you only have 3 chances. Along with completely screwing up, fumbling the ball/cube will also take away a heart. Luckily, the game gives you a second or two to catch your pattern again, otherwise you might just blow all 3 hearts at once. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cameos/Extras...........................................................(CAMEO) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhythm Test: If you Wait long enough after a test with the beeping sounds, a dog will bark, occasionally a guy will also talk to the dog, somes shushing it. Air Rally: Superb rank picture has the Blue Birds from the DS game there. As a luck based thing, it's possible for the Blue Birds and Captain Blue Bird to show up during the game instead of the geese or those other birds. Packing Pests: The guy in Munchy Monk from the DS game appears as the employee. Catch of the Day: In the Try again rank, the Student in DJ School of the DS game shows up as the fish vendor. Flipper-Flop: Captain Tuck is the same, or at least has the same face, as the captain in Marcher from GBA, only in a parka. Launch Party: Try Again and OK ranks shows one of Clappy Trio, either being in the rocket or out in space on a tether line. With a Superb rank, the UFO in Airboarders the credits game from DS shows itself. Donk-Donk: At the end of this game, it shows Rhythm Heaven, same place shown to you when you get a Superb rank in the DS's Remix 10. Love Rap: At the end of the game, when it zooms out of the TV, if you're playing in wide screen, you'll be able to see the RAPMEN in the game of the same name in the GBA game. You'll also be able to see a Quicknibble in a fish bowl and the dog, Barista. Remix 6: Getting a Superb rank shows the business man in the UFO in Airboarders/the credits game from DS. Cheer Readers: Lots of characters in this one. In the tutorial, the "OK, it's on!" is a fueled up robot from Fillbots in the DS game. In the game, the "OK, it's on!" pictures have the Onion from Rhythm Epilation in the GBA game, DJ Yellow and Student from DJ School and Stepswitchers from Lockstep in the DS game. Remix 7: OK and Superb rank show Rhythm Heaven. Cheer Readers got a few new ones as well. The "OK, it's on!" pictures have the commander in Space Dance and the Ya-chan in the original night Walk from the GBA game and one of the Frogettes in Frog Hop and. Also, Karate Joe is watching himself in his GBA counterpart. Working Dough 2: The space bunnies from the other two Rhythm Heaven games are present. Said bunnies are also from the WarioWare series. Love Rap 2: Same as before. Cheer Readers 2: The "OK, it's on!" pictures once again have more cameos. This time around, it has the vegetables in Rhythm Epilation from the GBA game and/or Crop Stomp, one of the Paddlers in Rhythm Rally and the Moai Kids in Moai Doo-Wop from the DS game. Hole in One 2: As you play, the clouds will slow move to the left to reveal Rhythm Heaven! She's practicing on Rhythm Heaven. Amazing. Remix 9: AGAIN, the Cheer Readers have more cameos. This time it's the a girl from the Tap Trial segments in the GBA's Remix 5 and the tutorial girl on the title screen from the DS game. Board Meeting cameos the Drum Girls from the GBA game, using the assistant as a reference to the bassist in the band while the other two are in the background. Karate Man gets some cameo action too. Just like the end of the GBA's Remix 8, after his face had been blacked out, once it shows his face again, it's better detailed and nothing like his original face. Said face is also seen in the DS's Karate Man 2 after you hit a bomb away. Cameos all over this one! When you get a Just/OK rank, the picture will will show an octopus in Octopus Machine from the DS game being caught on the fishing line. Cafe: If you look near the top left of the screen, you'll see a flyer that has Note from the DS game on it. Little guy is still being an awesome dude. Read Something: In "Concert Listings," it flat out references the RAPMEN from the GBA game. In "At the Auditions," it references the commander in Space Dance from the GBA game. Toy Car: One of the Calppy Trio is in the car. The faded out version, where you need to land your car, is without the red 'fro. Wake-Up Caller: Once your get 12 points and going for your 13th, the moon in the background will look like a bacteria in Doctor Bacteria from the GBA game. Munchy Monk: One of the Glee Club members from DS game is sitting on the girl's head. Lots of characters though the window of the train cart. In no particular order, there's the Stomp Farmer from Crop Stomp, the Love Lizards from the game of the same name, the Pop Singer from Fan Club 2, the Frogettes from Frog Hop, the Tiny Ghosts from Big Rock Finish, the Research Scientists of Love Lab from... Love Lab, and the Blue Birds and Captain Blue Bird, all from the DS game. (I think that's all of them) Lady Cupid: Shows Rhythm Heaven in the background. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Thanks..........................................................(STHNK) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course, I feel obliged to dedicate a section to the awesome dudes (or dudettes) who have allowed me to link their videos in this guide. Except one, but I gave proper credit and didn't claim it as my own, so yeah. Andrew Eisen For the excellent Monkey Watch advice video. Also check out his other videos too, they're pretty funny. ReminisceNikka An interesting YouTuber who has taken the liberty of yanking the music right out of live gameplay, leaving only SFX. I linked to the Launch Party video but check out the others, there's surely more to come. MaxaNum The cool dude who was the first person to reach and record the entirety of the Bossa Nova Endless story. Like I said before, check out the rest of his channel too. dyn721 The clever person to be the first to openly note that interesting bit on Remix 8, how all the games involved rejecting something.
