1. Intro***************************MP1***************************************
Welcome to my second FAQ for Mario Party, this one having been written just
after my Mario Party 7 FAQ. It is also my first Wii FAQ since I wrote my FAQ
for Super Paper Mario about two months ago.

Anyhow, this one is on my most-recently-obtained Mario Party, Mario Party 8,
and is my favorite among the three I own. Enjoy.

2. Version History***************************MP2*****************************
v0.10 - VERY late start, seeing as I started immediately after finishing my

4. Basics of the Game***************************MP4**************************
Mario Party is a turn-based board game that is sometimes described as being
similar to the Monopoly board game.

O--------------O
|  Party Tent  |  Player Capacity: 1 to 4
O--------------O

Here, you will play a simple game. You can choose from a decent selection of
boards. You can play a Battle Royale game (4 player free-for-all), a Tag
Battle (2-vs-2), or a Duel Battle (1-on-1).

The game begins by the rolling of Dice Blocks to determine play order (higher
numbers go first). On your turn, you can use a piece of Candy for its effect
(see section nine) and/or roll the Dice Block and move the number of specified
spaces. Depending on the space, something happens...

- Blue Space: Get three coins.

- Red Space: Lose three coins (or all, if you have 3 or less).

- Green ? Space: Random; depends on the board itself.

- DK Space: Donkey Kong will help you out. After landing here, all DK Spaces
            become Bowser Spaces.

- Bowser Space: Bowser will somehow mess with you, though he MIGHT help you...
                After landing here, the Bowser Spaces return to DK Spaces.

- Lucky Space: Land here for an easy chance at lots of coins and a Star (or
               three, on one case), all for free.

- VS. Space: Land here to start a Duel Minigame with a chosen player. You then
             get a random reward (if you win). Only in Party Tent Duel Battles.

- Challenge Space: Play one of the three 1-Player/Challenge minigames. Only in
                   Duel Battles for the Party Tent.

Usually, at the end of a turn, you'll then play some kind of minigame, with the
winner(s) usually getting coins.

This will continue until the end of all turns, or the objective is met. On the
last five turns, Chump Charity will occur (except in Duel Battles). In this, MC
Ballyhoo grants the last-place player(s) a reward.

At the end, your Stars and coins are tallied up. If turned on, three Bonus
Stars (out of six) are awarded:

~~ Candy Star: Awarded to whoever uses the most Candy.
~~ Green Star: Awarded to whoever lands on the most green ?-mark spaces.
~~ Minigame Star: Awarded to whoever wins the MOST COINS in minigames (not
                  number of wins).
~~ Red Star: Awarded to whoever lands on the most red spaces.
~~ Running Star: Awarded to whoever runs across the most spaces.
~~ Shopping Star: Awarded to whoever spends the most coins.

After this, there's a re-tally. Whoever has more Stars wins; if there is a tie,
it goes by coins. If that is a tie... *shrugs*

O---------------------O
|  Star Battle Arena  |  Players: 1
O---------------------O

The "story mode" of Mario Party 8. It plays like Party Mode above, but with
some changes...

- Bowlo Candy steals 20 coins, not 10.
- There are certain objectives that need to be done on each board to continue:
  - DK's Treetop Temple: Get two Stars.
  - Goomba's Booty Boardwalk: Get a Star from Goomba for fifty coins.
  - King Boo's Haunted Hideaway: Get two Stars.
  - Shy Guy's Perplex Express: Give Holly Koopa 50 coins for a Star.
  - Koopa's Tycoon Town: Get four Stars.
  - Bowser's Warped Orbit: Get all of your opponent's Stars.

I also have some board tips.

DK's Treetop Temple:
- Use Slowgo Candies to get on DK Spaces!
- If your opponent is about to win, use a Bowser Space and move it!

Goomba's Booty Boardwalk:
- Don't buy anything. Period.
- VS. Spaces are an idea.

King Boo's Haunted Hideaway:
- Always carry a Thrice/Springo Candy if you hit a pitfall.
- FIND THE DK SPACE. He'll cover the pitfalls and give you a free Star if you
  find him.

Shy Guy's Perplex Express:
- Don't buy Candy unless it is VERY cheap and useful. Like 10 coins cheap.
- Remember the Challenge Space, VS. Space, and the conductor. They can all
  yield free coins.

Koopa's Tycoon Town:
- At the start, go up, not left. This way, you won't have to fight over a
  hotel early on.

Bowser's Warped Orbit:
- Use Bowser Candy when easily possible. Buy it, too.
- Leave the Green ?-mark spaces alone.

There is a minigame after the last thing. Don't worry about it too much -- if
you lose, you'll restart from where you lost, but with full health. >_>

O-----------------O
|  Minigame Tent  |  Players: 1 - 4
O-----------------O

There are several different play modes here.

Free Play Arcade
`````````````````
Play minigames of choice, if unlocked.
Crown Showdown
```````````````
The first person to win 3/5/7 times will win.

Flip-Out Frenzy
````````````````
You'll aim to control the board by playing random minigames.
Tic-Tac Drop
`````````````
A game of Tic-Tac-Toe, basically. You'll play a game, and the winner of it will
get place down a piece. The first to connect three vertically, diagonally, or
horizontally will win.

Test for the Best
``````````````````
This one-player mode can be bought from the Fun Bazaar and requires these
minigames to be unlocked:
~ Swing Kings
~ Kartastrophe
~ Snipe for the Picking
~ Rotation Station
~ Alpine Assault
~ Ion the Prize
~ Settle It in Court
~ Surfs Way Up
~ Pumper Cars
~ Saucer Swarm
This is a mode similar to Decathlon Castle of Mario Party 7, or the Score
Scuffle of Mario Party DS. You'll play the games and, based on your performance
in said game, you'll earn up to 1,000 points.
O------------------O
|  The Fun Bazaar  |
O------------------O
The shop of this game, you buy things here. It is more detailed in section
seven. The money used here is Carnival Cards, earned for various things like
playing games.
At the records board, you'll find your records (and the staff's, once
unlocked). There is the Suprise Wagon, where you can buy stuff. Then there is
the Carnival Wagon, which lets you see all currently-owned figurines. Then
there is the Minigame Wagon, where you can randomly buy a minigame that has
yet to been unlocked. The last thing, the Carnival Calliope, is where you'll
listen to unlocked in-game music and sounds.
O---------------O
|  Extras Zone  |  Players: 1 - 4
O---------------O
This has a total of eight special minigames that Miis can play. Four need to
be unlocked at the Fun Bazaar after beating Star Battle once.
5. Game Boards***************************MP5*********************************
In this section, I'll list the boards and give some general data on them, and
some tips.
O=======================O
|  DK's Treetop Temple  |
O=======================O
Star Battle Goal - To earn two Stars.
The Star Space - Random; Stars are 20 coins apiece.
Lucky Space: It is found in front of the DK statue. It'll take you to a path
             with coins on the spaces and a free Star at the end! You'll be
             sent to the start afterwards.
DK Space: You'll be sent to the Star Space.
Bowser Space: The Star Space gets moved.
Chump Charity: The last-place players gets a Duelo Candy. Coins are added to
               all spaces.
Tips:
- Obviously, go STRAIGHT for the DK/Lucky Spaces! The Slowgo Candy helps.
- Some of the Green ? Spaces have Shy Guys on them. You'll give them a Candy in
  return for a few coins. If you lack a Candy, you still get coins.
O============================O
|  Goomba's Booty Boardwalk  |
O============================O
Star Battle Goal: Bring Goomba 50 coins. He is at the track's end.
Star Space: Go to the linear board's end for a free one!
Lucky Space: It is found two spaces past the bridge the first Dolphin brings
             you to. It'll take you to an island with coins on each space and
             *gasp* a free Star! You'll return to the Lucky Space afterwards.
DK Space: You'll pay five coins and shake the Wii Remote to get lots of coins.
Bowser Space: Embers appear and you'll need to jump over them, lest you lose
              coins.
Chump Charity: The last-place players gets a Duelo Candy. Coins are added to
               all spaces.
Tips:
- Avoid the green space prior to the track's end -- it'll send you to the start
  again!
- The Dolphin Shuttle helps towards the Shopping Star.
O===============================O
|  King Boo's Haunted Hideaway  |
O===============================O
Star Battle Goal: Get 2 Stars.
Star Space: Somewhere in the mansion with King Boo. Costs 10 coins.
Lucky Space: Random area near a staircase. This sends you up a floor with some
             coin-topped spaces. At the end, you'll go down a pipe to get a
             (not-free) Star from King Boo. Then everyone is sent to the start.
DK Space: You'll be safe from a trap somehow, or you'll get a Star.
Bowser Space: You'll lose a Star or get 10 coins.
Chump Charity: The last-place player throws a dart that affects the game. There
               are coins placed atop the spaces, too.
Tips:
- Watch the background, map, and your opponents' paths.
- Always keep Thrice and Springo Candies on-hand. The former is for when you
  find someone nearby going for the King Boo's room and cannot afford it. The
  latter is if you find yourself on a trapped path.
- It is preferable to concentrate on taking your opponents' coins and Stars,
  using Candy as needed. (And when possible!)
O=============================O
|  Shy Guy's Perplex Express  |
O=============================O
Star Battle Goal: Give Holly Koopa 50 coins to get a Star.
Star Space: In the frontmost compartent. Pay the conductor 10 coins to get it.
Lucky Space: Will send you to the train station. There, you'll find some coins
             atop spaces, with a Star at the end. You'll return to the start at
             this point.
DK Space: Free star! (First come, first served.)
Bowser Space: You'll lose a Star or, if you lack one, you'll get 30 coins!!
Chump Charity: The last-place player throws a dart that affects the game. There
               are coins placed atop the spaces, too.
Tips:
- The journey to the Star Space is short; be ready to use Thrice Candy to speed
  ahead, ESPECIALLY when DK comes around.
- Look at the background characters. One ?-mark space has you identify the one
  who stole some money. (It was me! </joke>)
O=======================O
|  Koopa's Tycoon Town  |
O=======================O
Star Battle Goal: Obtain four Stars.
Star Space: Here, you'll find hotels everywhere. The 1-Stars go to the highest
            bidder. They become 2-Star at twenty coins and 3-Star at fifty.
            The hotels no one can put money into need 100 coins.
Lucky Space: There are two here. You'll be taken to a part of town where you
             can invest in a 3-Star hotel FOR ANY AMOUNT OF CASH. Remember,
             there are two Lucky Spaces and two separate hotels. After getting
             the hotel, you'll return to the main area.
DK Space: DK puts 20 coins into your account at a hotel.
Bowser Space: Bowser goes to some hotel and take 10 coins from each account.
Chump Charity: The last-place player throws a dart that affects the game. There
               are coins placed atop the spaces, too.
Tips:
- This truly is a place built on winning minigames.
- Those in 1st place should focus on keeping hotels safe; others should focus
  towards stealing the hotels.
O=========================O
|  Bowser's Warped Orbit  |
O=========================O
Star Battle Goal: Steal ALL of your opponent's Stars.
Star Space: None.
Lucky Space: Data unknown as of yet.
DK Space: Candy!~
Bowser Space: You'll, of course, lose a Star.
Chump Charity: The last-place player gets a Duelo Candy. Coins are added to
               all spaces.
Tips:
- Bowser and Bullet Candy must be saved and used only when it will affect
  someone.
- Steal Candy whenever possible.
