This is my first ever time writing for a newly-released game. It's nice to try new things right? This isn't all about me though, I'm writing this guide to help all my readers out there. I bought this game on the EU-release date and I just connected with it right away. What's all this WiiWare business anyway? It is a very similar initiative to the Virtual Console. Except whereas on VC you can take your pick from ye olde classics, WiiWare applications are specifically design for the Wii. w00t. This is where innovation is going to reign supreme. Due to the low-risks involved with a WiiWare release, small-time video game developers are tipped to run riot. Due to the limited financial risks developers are eyeing the WiiWare system as the perfect way into the market. This said, there are plenty of big name developers involved too with Namco, Square Enix and Konami already confirmed. In short the WiiWare system will give users a chance to experience next-gen gaming before next-gen gaming has even made it to the shops. Where does LostWinds fit in? Well it's one of these said little packages of creativity. For the rock bottom price of 1000 points (about 7) you can own a piece of history! I sound so much like I work in the Ninty PR department. Never mind all that. LostWinds touches upon the innovation that I've been talking about. It has been developed by Frontier Developments, a UK-based company. LostWinds is considered the best-looking of the Wiware release titles, as well as being the most hyped. So, fly my pretties, take a moment to download this and use my guide! Here's a brief run down of what to expect from the guide. You reading the introduction, so you should know what that is. The section below this will help you download LostWinds if you need it. After that comes the story that I shamelessly lifted from the Frontier website. Then comes an introduction to all the characters in the game. The Game Basics section is an induction into the LostWinds world with everything you need to know to get started. Following that is a complete game walkthrough. Check that out if you are stuck at any point in the game. The Melodia Idols chapter will direct you to each and every Melodia Idol in the game. After that is the Enemies Listing where you can learn all you need to know about defeating the bad guys. The Frequently Asked Questions chapter contains pretty much what you would expect. After this is the Bugs and Glitches section. Check this out if you have caught an annoying bug. Then comes the Credits section where I give my love to people. Finally there is the Contact Info section. Be sure to check that out if you want to contribute or ask a question. If you want to see any more of my work follow this link- http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/76852.html Finally, if you found this FAQ useful please take the time to recommend it so I can get some feedback. GameFAQs users can do this at the top of the page. Thanks for listening and I hope you find this helpful, - TrulyDexterous .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 4) D o w n l o a d i n g L o s t W i n d s [DLLW] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' Being a WiiWare release, you can't just go into EB and walk out with a shiny round disk. In truth it is far far easier than that. You can do it in your underwear, from the comfort of your own bed. Perfect for lazy peeps like me. Okay, first of all switch on the Wii console. Make sure your Wii is connected to the internet. Wait until the Wii Menu pops up and select the Shopping Channel. That's in the top right next to the Photo Channel. Then select WiiWare from the menu. You can then browse different WiiWare titles by publisher, genre or game title. You can also see the most popular titles and newest additions. Once you have found LostWinds use Wii Points to download it. LostWinds costs 1000 Wii Points. This equates to around 7/$10. Select "Download - 1000 Wii Points" to begin the download. LostWinds will be saved onto the blocks in your Wiis memory. Similar to the blocks in a memory card. As the game is downloading, you can see how many Wii Points and free memory blocks you will have after the download. You can buy Wii Points either with a credit card, or at a video game retailer. You can purchase on your credit card without having to leave the house! w00t. Laziness. Once the download has completed you can select LostWinds in the Wii Menu. It will take up one of the channel spaces. Well done, you successfully downloaded LostWinds. Go play. After creating the island of Mistralis the 12 Elemental Spirits returned to The Great Tower where they could watch over the island's inhabitants, and keep its people from harm. Balasar, the Spirit of the Sun and Moon, thought himself better than the others and schemed a way to rule Mistralis as a god and so be worshipped by all. The other spirits discovered his treacherous plan and so, to guard Mistralis from being unhinged by Balasars arrogance, they forged a Spirit Stone with the power to seal Balasar within it forever. Gathering their energy the Elemental Spirits challenged Balasar, moving him ever closer to the Stone. Balasar fought wildly against the Spirits and power of the Stone and for a moment it seemed that they would not have the strength to trap him. In an act of selfless courage, Enril the Wind Spirit used the last of her power to enshroud Balasar in a furious tornado. Her sacrifice was enough to weaken Balasar to submission, but Enril was also dragged deep within the Spirit Stone. There Enril and Balasar would be sealed together for an eternity. Within the Stone, Balasars anger twisted him, changed him into something entirely different. Foul rage bred new powers within him; the withering gaze of a burning sun, the shrivelling touch of the cruel moon. Enril tried to soothe this unending rage, but alas it was impossible to still the hatred that writhed within Balasar. In time, Balasar discovered a flaw within the Spirit Stone - over centuries he picked at it with his withering, shrivelling claws, until one day the stone exploded. All of Mistralis trembled at the sound. The Great Tower was ruined. The Spirits were cast out into the world and Enril was shattered and scattered over Mistralis, still trapped within the seven shards of Spirit Stone. Balasar was deeply weakened by destroying the Stone but the simple fear of what he had become made even the Ancients flee, abandoning Mistralis to its fate. The remaining Spirits hid themselves as mortals rather than face Balasar again. Over the years Balasars strength has slowly returned, and while he waited he has not been idle. He has become the elemental sorcerer of shadow, spawning creatures that are aspects of him, sent out to spread decay and fear through Mistralis. Soon Balasar himself will emerge to begin his dark reign over the island. Who is left to stop him? The Spirits have kept hidden for so long they have all but forgotten what they are, leading normal lives. Only Enril is brave enough to fight Balasar, but is trapped, as yet undiscovered, in the many shards of stone scattered far and wide. It is by chance a young boy named Toku finds a shard of Enril and learns from her the peril awaiting Mistralis. They set out together on a journey to awaken Enril's sibling Spirits, restore her full powers, and so return the LostWinds to Mistralis. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 6) C h a r a c t e r s [CTRS] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' B a l a s a r The bad guy. Balasar is the Spirit of the Sun and Moon. Though he was trapped within the Spirit Stone, he has broken free and is regaining strength. Although Toku does not come face to face with him in this episode of LostWinds, his presence can be felt everywhere. D e o Deo is a Spirit of Mistralis and the guardian of Toku. He is said to have lived i Mistralis for an eternity. At the start of LostWinds he seems to be suffering from memory loss. Toku must find the Memory Chests hidden around Mistralis to bring back Deo's memory and progress through the game. Deo is looking after Toku, whilst his mother Magdi, if off exploring Chilling Peaks. E n r i l Enril is a Wind Spirit, who fought and entrapped Balasar. She is currently trapped within the many shattered pieces of the Spirit Stone. The Wind Cursor takes her form. M a g m o k Magmok is a peaceful earth creature. He is green in colour and massive-huge in size. Deo entrusts his Spirit Power to Magmok. Unfortunately it seems the Glorbs have been up to no good... N o t e a Notea is an Explorer who has covered the vast lengths of Mistralis. Use his knowledge to discover the locations of the Shrines hidden around the region. T o k u Toku is the hero of LostWinds. He is a small boy who will form a strong partnership with Enril, the Wind Spirit. He has brown spiky hair and is clothed all in red. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 7) G a m e B a s i c s [GMBC] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 7a) C o n t r o l s [CTRL] | '----------------------------------------------------------------------------' LostWinds is controlled by both the Wiimote and Nunchuck. W i i m o t e P o i n t e r The pointer controls the Wind Cursor. Use this in conjunction with A or B to manipulate items, enemies and Toku himself. Merely moving the Wind Cursor will initiate a light breeze. Point the Wind Cursor at Spirit Charms to collect them. D - P a d Press up or down on the D-Pad to zoom the camera in and out. A B u t t o n Use the A button to using various Wind Powers. e.g. you can hold A and move the Wind Cursor to create a Gust. See the Wind Powers section below for a full explanation of this. The A button is also used to select during menu screen and to move text on. B B u t t o n Use the B button in conjunction with the Wind Cursor to create a Slipstream. B can also be used to cancel during menu screens. P l u s Pause the game. M i n u s If you press the Minus button, Enril will give you a hint that will help you progress. C o n t r o l S t i c k Move Toku around with this. Walk off of the edge of a platform to make Toku jump. Z B u t t o n This is the Action button. Use this to pick up items or to eat fruit and vegetables. It can also be used to pull levers. The Jumberella Cape is activated with Z. 2 n d W i n d M o d e If you connect an additional Wiimote, the second player can manipulate the environment and collect Spirit Charms. This is very similar to Co-Star mode in Mario Galaxy, where the second player collects Star Bits. .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 7b) W i n d P o w e r s [WDPW] | '----------------------------------------------------------------------------' G u s t WHAT IS IT?: Use this gust of wind to lift Toku into the air. With this Toku can reach higher ground. Items and certain parts of the environment can also be affected by Gust. This is the most fundamental Wind Power. HOW TO USE : Hold the A button and then move the Wind Cursor. This will initiate a gust of wind in the direction that the Wind Cursor was moved in. If you move this cursor from Toku, into the air, this will lift him and perform a jump of sorts. LOCATION : Toku learns this as soon as you find Enril. See "The Beginning" chapter of the walkthrough for help with this. D o u b l e G u s t WHAT IS IT?: This is an upgrade to the Gust. This means that the Gust can be used twice is quick succession. Use Gust again. This way Toku can reach even higher ground. HOW TO USE : Lift Toku into the air with Gust. Whilst he is still airborne, Use Gust again and pass the cursor from Toku, to the higher ground or air. This way Toku can reach even higher ground. LOCATION : This is found at the first Shrine. See "The Beginning" chapter of the walkthrough for help with this. S l o w D e s c e n t WHAT IS IT?: Well this isn't a Wind Power really. It is just a power that is used by the wind. Ahem. You don't learn this power, it is available as soon as you find Enril. It will slow Toku's fall down, so that he will remain unharmed when falling from great heights. HOW TO USE : As Toku is falling through the air, hold A and quickly pass the Wind Cursor back and forth over him to slow his fall. This way Toku can fall from high up, but will remain unharmed. LOCATION : Toku learns this as soon as you find Enril. See "The Beginning" chapter of the walkthrough for help with this. S l i p s t r e a m WHAT IS IT?: Creates a path of slow moving wind. Water, fire and Toku himself can follow this path. HOW TO USE : Hold B and draw your line. Release B and the slipstream will take effect. LOCATION : Found at the second Shrine (the Shrine of the Meandering Wind). See the "Journey to the Second Shrine" chapter of the walkthrough for help with this. V o r t e x WHAT IS IT?: Create a vortex around an airborne object to make it spin. It can then be used as a powerful projectile. HOW TO USE : Throw an object such as a rock into the air using Gust. Hold the A button and quickly draw a circle around the rock. Release A. If you get this right, the rock will now remain suspended in the air, slowly spinning. LOCATION : This is found at the third Shrine which is in the Old Mines. See The Second Memory Chest chapter for help with this. J u m b e r e l l a C a p e WHAT IS IT?: The Jumberella Cape enables Toku to make use of slipstreams to glide a lot higher than he could reach previously. HOW TO USE : Get some air by jumping or Gusting. Whilst Toku is airborne, hold the Z button then hold B and draw a slipstream that Toku will get caught in. Release B and Toku will follow the path of the slipstream. LOCATION : Deo will gift you this when you visit him at his house after finding the second Memory Chest. .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 7c) I t e m s [ITMS] | '----------------------------------------------------------------------------' F r u i t Fruits are found hanging in certain places. Use Gust to bring it down from its branch/string. Press Z to eat it. This will return Toku to full health. These can also be used to break down wooden barriers. H e l i - B u d Pick these plants and lift Toku into the air. Toku will fall a lot more slowly whilst holding one of these. Toku can stay airborne for longer and gain more height if he holds one of these and creates a Slipstream. M e l o d i a I d o l The Melodia Idols are the basis of a side-quest in LostWinds. There are 24 of these hidden around Mistralis. Your reward for finding all 24 is...nothing. So what are they for? Well here's what producer Michael Brookes had to say on the subject; "The Melodia Idols are for the completionists and players who like to explore each area fully. There is a statue in each area, so collecting them all means you've visited all areas of the game." I hope that clears things up for you. R o c k This can be used to break down doors as well as weighing down switches. It is pretty much what you would expect, a round, brown boulder. S e e d If you burn a plant, it will regress into a seed. You can carry this seed and plant it in the soil, where it will grow. Occasionally, it will only sprout as a sapling. You will need to water it to make it grow into its full form. S p i r i t C h a r m Collect Spirit Charms to gain an extra revive for Toku. If you move the Wind Cursor on screen, the environment will receive a light breeze. Waggle the cursor over bushes, plants and tress and you will find that Spirit Charms are often released. Defeated enemies will also release Spirit Charms. V e g e t a b l e You can find vegetables buried in the ground. Pick them out by holding Z and using Gust to flick Toku into the air. The vegetable will pop out of the ground. Toku can then eat it using the Z button. This way Toku can be returned to full health. W i n d S t o n e This is first found in The Old Mines, but later turns up in the Abandoned Village. Basically it is used to smash through crystal barriers and to get through crystal doors. Crystal barriers can't be smashed with anything other than a Wind Stone. It took me ages to find the actual name of these, but in an interview, David Braben (Executive Producer) calls them Winds Stones, so that is good enough for me. .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 7d) T o k u ' s H e a l t h [TKHT] | '----------------------------------------------------------------------------' Toku's health bar is located in the top right of the screen. It takes the form of a heart. Each time Toku loses health, he will lose a quarter of the heart. This means Toku can be hit 4 times before he needs to be revived. Should Toku lose his heart entirely, he will use up a revive. You need to frantically shake the Wind Cursor over Toku to revive him. If you don't do this you will return to your last save point. The revive meter is located next to the health bar. The maximum number of revives Toku can have at any one time is 3. You can top up your health by eating fruit and vegetables. Fruit is the most common and is often found hanging from a stem. Vegetables are found in the ground and must be plucked out before Toku can eat them. To earn extra revives, you must collect Spirit Charms. These can be found floating around Mistralis. If you move the Wind Cursor over the screen, it will send a light breeze over the environment, shaking plants, bushes and trees. When this plant life is shaken, they will release Spirit Charms. Each time you enter a new area it is a good idea to shake the environment to gain these Charms. Defeated enemies will also release Spirit Charms. There are numerous things that will cause Toku harm. Enemy attacks. If any enemy attacks Toku, he will be harmed. Sometimes even touching an enemy can cause harm. Falling from high up. If Toku falls from high up and isn't slowed down, he will be harmed on impact. Rocks will harm Toku. If you are moving a rock and it lands on Toku's head, he will likely lose some health. .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 7e) B a s i c G a m e p l a y [BCGP] | '----------------------------------------------------------------------------' At the start of the game and each time you earn a new Wind Power, you will get a tutorial screen to show you how to use a certain move or power. Use mushrooms to gain extra height. Use a downward Gust to get a higher bounce. Walk off the edge of ledges and cliffs to cause Toku to jump. Each time you find a Shrine, you will be rewarded with a new Wind Power. Each time you find a Memory Chest, visit Deo to find out what to do next. Toku's only form of attack is the Gust. Try and Gust enemies against the floor or walls to hurt them the most. Don't forget to wave the Wind Cursor over the environment to release Spirit Charms. You don't need to collect Melodia Idols, they are just a side-quest. Wooden gates can be removed from your path by setting them on fire. Wooden gates look like curly vines. Wooden barriers can be removed from your path by using Vortex and smashing them with a fruit or rock. Tougher enemies such as Squarks and Kalarabs can also be used to smash the barriers. Wooden barriers have planks of wood nailed across the doorway. Crystal barriers can be removed from your path by creating a Vortex and smashing them with a Wind Stone. You can also use Vortex whilst the Wind Ball is right next to them. This will also cause the barriers to break. Use flaming torches and Wind Powers to set fire to things. Use water and Wind Powers to make saplings grow. Use Poyak plants to get higher jumps. Use Heli-Buds to fall slower or to glide using slipstreams. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8) T h e W a l k t h r o u g h [TWKT] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' The walkthrough is pretty straight forwards. As there isn't a definite way to split the guide up, it have given each major event its own section. Each time Toku visits an area within a section, that area will be given its own sub-section. That way the walkthrough is broken up nicely and you know where you should be. I had a little bit of a dilemma as to how to cover the Melodia Idol side quest. However, I think it has been well covered. If you look through the walkthrough section, you will find that the locations all 24 Melodia Idols are explained. Later in the FAQ there is a separate Melodia Idol chapter for those people who need to find the odd Idol. Each time you find an Idol in the walkthrough, it will have a number next to it e.g. (14). This number will relate to the same number in the Melodia Idol Locations section. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8a) T h e B e g i n n i n g [TBGN] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' B l o s s o m G r o v e The game begins with an instruction; "Try waving the Wind cursor over Toku to wake him up". Press A now point the Wiimote and wave the blue cursor over Toku, who is in the centre of the screen. Once you have awoken Toku, you gain control over him. Head over to the right and climb onto the ledge here. Keep on to the right and climb the two higher ledges after this. Follow the grassy incline and leave the screen to the right. You will emerge in another grassy area. Drop down the steps here and walk over the bridge. Halfway across it will give way and Toku will fall! L o s t C a v e r n You will now find yourself in a darkened cave. Head to the right, towards the cliff edge and you will be shown another notice. Basically it says that when you walk off the edge of a cliff, you will automatically jump. Anybody familiar with the Zelda series will be used to this. Anyway, jump off of the edge of the cliff. You will land a short way below, on more grass. Walk over to the right to be shown another tutorial screen. When you are near an object press Z to pick it up. Lose this screen and then press Z. What's this shiny blue item? Well done, you have found Enril, the Wind Spirit. She will be companion throughout the game. Enril will take you through the story of Balasar's rising to power and how it came to be. She will go on to say that together, you can stop his ascendancy. After Enril has said his piece, you will learn the power of Gust. This is basically a jumping technique. You can now reach higher platforms. Yaaay. Now let's look for a way out of this cave. Head over to the right and climb the ledge here. Use Gust to make the hanging fruit fall. You can eat this fruit to get a health boost. Use your newly acquired Gust technique to jump up the two ledges here. Once you are on the second, Gust-jump to the left. Now jump over the two platforms here and land on a bigger ledge. From this ledge drop down to the platform below. Jump over the raised ledge here. On the other side is a plant. Stand over it and it will suck you in. A tutorial screen will now appear. This is a Poyak plant. Use Gust on it whilst Toku is inside to propel him into the air. This also works with certain items. Use Gust on the Poyak to shoot Toku into the air. Whilst enjoying your hang- time, move over to the left and land on the ledge here. There are a series platforms above Toku now. Jump along them until you are on a larger stretch of land. Walk along here and Enril will initiate a short tutorial. If you fall from high up, it will hurt Toku if you hit the ground quickly. Whilst you are falling, frantically wave the Wind Cursor over Toku as he falls. This will slow down the speed at which Toku is falling, meaning he won't be harmed on landing. Once the tutorial is finished, fall down the cliff just to the left. Use the afore mentioned technique to bring Toku down safely. At the bottom is a fruit, so you can top your health up if you wish. Now head over to the left and leave the screen. Move a little to the left and Enril will announce "Look at this place. I wonder who built it?". Listen to what she has to say, then drop to the lower area on the left. There is a shrine at the bottom of this pit. There is a switch right in front of the shrine. Walk over and stand on it. This will cause a propeller to appear on top of the shrine. You can read an inscription here, 'Our creations answer only to the voice of the wind'. Basically you need to use Gust to make the propeller spin. Make the wind blow horizontally over the propeller to do this. After the propeller has spun, it will disappear and the screen will white out. 'Congratulations! Enril's power has now increased'. This means that your Gust technique has been upgraded. If you use it once to blow Toku into the air, you can use it again whilst he is still airborne. This is a 'double- jump' of sorts. It will allow you to gain access to higher platforms. Once you are done, walk over to the right. There is a rather high looking cliff here. Use your Double-Gust to get to the top of the cliff. This may take a couple of tries to get used to. Up here you will find your first Melodia Idol (1). There are 24 of these babies to be found. Check out the Melodia Idol Locations chapter below for more on this. Drop down from this cliff and head past the shrine. Use Double-Gust to get up the cliff here. Head back out of this area to the right. Walk over to the right and move past the fruit. Double-Gust up the narrow cliff here. Sat on top of this ledge is a Melodia Idol (2). Drop down the other side of the ledge and make sure you slow Toku down as he falls, as this is quite a drop. At the bottom go to the right. Jump over the Poyak, so that it doesn't suck you in. Keep moving to the right and you will stop. Enril will introduce you to your first enemies in the game- Glorbs. These are by far the most common enemy you will come across, albeit they are found in different forms. Drop down to meet them. I find the best way to kill these is to Gust them straight into the ground. i.e. if they are sat on the floor use Gust vertically downwards to effectively squash them into the floor and destroy them. Throwing them high into the air and letting them hit the ground at speed also works well. When you are ready take out these 2 Glorbs. Head over to the right and climb the ledge here. Move past the fruit and head up the 2 ledges here. The last time you were here, you had to jump onto the platform to the left. This time though, use your Double Gust to get to the top of the cliff on the right. At the top is a sapling just poking out of the soil. Just to the right of it is a small waterfall. Use Gust to move water from the waterfall onto the sapling. Simply draw a line between the two. As soon as water touches the sapling, it will sprout into a Poyak. Use the Poyak and land on the ledge high above. Double-Gust up the cliff to the right and take out the Glorb at the top. Jump over the gap here and leave the cave to the right. H i l l t o p V i l l a g e Ahh, sunshine! Head to the right and then drop off of the cliff. At the bottom you can speak with a man doing his gardening, but he won't tell you anything interesting. You can also go into another area to the left, but don't do that yet, that's for later. Instead, head over to the right and cross the stream. Keep moving to the right and climb the steps. At the top is a woman who will inform you that Deo is looking for you. Once you have spoken with the woman, turn around. To the left, in the air is a tree branch. If you Double-Gust you will be able to reach it. When you are comfortably sat on this branch, jump along the other two, to the right. You will now be on a grassy platform. Use the Poyak here and Gust over to the right. There is a Melodia Idol sat on a ledge here (3). Collect it and drop back down onto the lower platform. Head to the right and move off screen. Walk off of the cliff here and safely bring Toku down. You will land right on top of a Melodia Statue. You can use these to save your progress. Just press the Z button whilst you are in front of it. Your are now in the same place you would be is you walked a little to the right of the woman you met. Drop down the ledge to the right and speak to Deo. He will reprimand you for going missing. Whilst you are talking to Deo, Enril will try and get his attention, but it would appear that Deo can't hear her. Instead Deo will give you an errand. He wants you to travel into town and get him some herbs. Once you have finished speaking with him, Enril will voice her concerns, before suggesting heading into town. Go to the right and move off screen. When you emerge, head a little to the right and the ground will tremor. Head over to the right, past the group of children and speak with a woman who is stood outside a house. Apparently the rumbles have happened before. Move past here and carry on walking to the right. Use Double Gusting to climb the stairs here. When you reach a slanted platform with wooden railings, climb the ledge on the right. Up here the herb shop owner can be found. His shop has been ruined by the rumblings. No herbs for Deo then. He goes on to mention Notea, who you are about the meet. Jump onto the platform to the left of the herb shop. Up here is a girl. She doesn't say anything important, so pass her by and jump onto the roof of the house here. Go up the ledges to the right until you are on a larger platform. Go up the high cliffs here and use the Melodia Statue at the top. Walk over to the right and speak with the man stood in front of the windmill. This is Notea. He is an explorer. He will go on about himself for a while before striking conversation with Enril. Apparently the surrounding region is covered with inscriptions about a lost Spirit named Enril. A race called the Melodias constructed great artefacts to bring back Enril. Unfortunately, the Melodias have disappeared, so nobody knows how these artefacts work. That's lucky. Notea will direct you to a place where he knows there is a shrine, similar to the one you found earlier. The shrine of the 'Meandering Wind' can be found to the West of Wither Falls. Well, at least you've got a bit of direction now right? Go all the way back to Deo's house now. Speak with Deo and he will tell you that there are no more chores for you to do today. Head to the left, back towards Wither Falls. It is likely that you will run into a few of Glorbs along the way. Anyway, cross the stream and go past the gardening man. To the left there is a cave. Head inside. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8b) J o u r n e y T o T h e S e c o n d S h r i n e [JTSS] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' B l o s s o m G r o v e Speak with the man here and he will say that the bridge has fall through. This is apparently that bridge that gave way right at the start of the game. Jump the gap. Interestingly, if you don't make the jump, you will appear in the middle of Wither Falls. Once you have made the jump leave the screen to the left. Head to the left and take out the Glorbs here. Go as far as you can to the left and get to the top of the cliff. Up here is a Melodia Statue. Turn around and use the tree branches to reach the grassy platform on the right. Jump up the ledges here. Once you reach the top one turn around and leap to the platform on the left. Jump across the next two platforms. Take out the 2 Glorbs here. Head up the ledges and leave the screen to the left. W i t h e r F a l l s Go to the left and take out the two Squawks here. These are a little different to normal Glorbs. They have a leafy coating which allows them to fly. Use Gust to throw them to the ground hard and fast. One or two of these hits and they will lose their leafy costume and reveal themselves as regular Glorbs. Take them out as per usual. Once you are done with the Glorbs, leave the screen to the left. In the new area, continue walking over to the left. Take out the Glorb which is sat high above you. Jump the gap here. If you happened to fall down, you will have to deal with a few Glorbs. On this platform you will find a rock and a switch. Use Gust to move to rock onto the switch. Once you have achieved this, a door will open to the left. Head through. Take out the Squawks on the other side. Use the Poyak here and Gust over to the left, landing on the platform. On this platform is a lever. Grab onto it with Z. Hold Z and Gust Toku upwards to pull the lever. This will open a door below you. Drop down and head through the door. In here is a Melodia Idol (4). Use the Poyak again, but this time Gust to the right. Take out the Glorbs sat on this platform. Jump over to the right and you will be back in a familiar area. You need to be on the ground, below the switch and the rock. However, you need to bring the rock with you. Just use Gust to keep it moving along. Now head over to the right. Here is a wooden gate, blocking your access to a lower area. There is a flaming torch nearby. Use Gust to move fire from the torch, to the gate, thus setting it on fire. The gate will now be removed from your path. Drop down and head to the left, taking the rock with you. There is a switch here. Drop the rock onto the switch and a door to the left will open. Blocking your route to the door is a Spiky Plant. Use Gust to make it retreat underground for a few seconds. This will give you time to move past it and head through the door. S h r i n e o f t h e M e a n d e r i n g W i n d Drop down the cliff here, making sure Toku falls slowly. At the bottom, move to the left. There is another shrine here! Stand on the switch and move the propeller on top of the shrine using Gust. You will learn the ability to Slipstream! This means you can create a path of wind for things to follow such as fire or Heli-Buds. Once you have finished at the shrine, move over to the left. Double Gust up the cliff here. You will be faced with a wooden gate at the top. Above the gate is a torch. Using your new power, hold B and draw a line from the torch to the gate. Release B and the fire will follow your line and burn the gate up. Walk to the left and grab the Heli-Bud here. If you accidentally burnt it, then it will have turned into a seed. If this happens, simply re-plant it using the Z button. When you are ready, pick the Heli-Bud using the Z button. Now move over to the right. Stand on the edge of the cliff. If you look up and to the right, you will see a narrow gap in the roof. Use Slipstream to draw a line between Toku and the gap. As you move through the gap, use Gust to land nicely on the floor here. There is a wooden gate on the right. Use Slipstream to set it alight with the torch behind it. Once the gate is out of the way, walk over to the right and collect a Melodia Idol (5). Go back down to the Heli-Bud. Grab it and stand on the edge of the cliff. Gust over to the right. As you move towards the large stalactite, use Slipstream and draw a line that will take you beneath it, but up towards the top of the cliff on the right. The line will probably need to be something like an 'S' shape. Use Gust to get to the top of the cliff if you need to. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8c) T h e F i r s t M e m o r y C h e s t [TFMC] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' W i t h e r F a l l s At the top of the cliff leave the screen to the right. You will now be back out in Wither Falls. Use Gust on the Spiky Plant so that you can get past it. Carry on moving to the right until you reach wooden gate. Where the Poyak was, there is now a Glorb nest. This can't be destroyed normally. Take out any nearby Glorbs. Use Slipstream to draw a line between the torch at the top of the screen and the nest. This will harm the nest. Walk over to it and press Z to grab hold. Flick Toku upwards with Gust, as though you were pulling a lever. The nest will be thrown up into the air and will disintegrate. Use Slipstream to set the wooden gate on fire with the torch. Head down the path and leave the screen to the right. In this area, another wooden gate is blocking your way. Use Slipstream to set it on fire with the torch at the top of the screen. If the torch isn't lit, give it a Gust to bring the fire to life. With the gate out of the way, head over to the right. Take out the 3 Glorbs at the bottom of the pit. Continue to the right and kill the Squawk. Walk past the soil and stand beneath the torch. Further to the right, on the same rock, is another torch. Use the Slipstream to light the right hand torch with the left hand torch. You can then set fire to the wooden gate. Head over to the right. As you approach the Poyak, a tutorial screen will appear. It tells you that if you burn a plant, it will turn into a seed, which can be carried. For now, just in the Poyak and shoot Toku into the air. High up here there is a flaming torch. Use it to light the torch on the right. You can then use this torch to flame the Poyak, which will turn into a seed. With the Poyak seed, walk over to the right and plant it in the patch of soil here. It will sprout as a sapling. Use Gust or Slipstream to water it from the waterfall on the left. It will then sprout into a Poyak. Jump inside it and make it throw Toku into the air. Land on a platform either to the left or right. Double Gust onto the high ledge on the left, then jump across to the platform on the right. Use Gust to remove the Spiky Plant from your way for a few seconds. Behind it are numerous Glorbs. You can either take them out normally, or burn them up with the nearby torch. Head to the right and fall down the cliff here. At the very bottom at tutorial screen will appear, telling you that a mushroom can be used to bounce on, giving you access to higher ground. Bounce on the mushroom and get and land on the platform to the left. Look above Toku. You need to use Slipstream to move flames from the torch below, to the torch above. You will notice that there is a Melodia Idol to the right of this area. However, it can't be accessed yet, you will need to come back for it later. Get back to the very top of the screen. You can now light the torch here, with the torch that you previously lit. Take out the Squawk nearby. Now, use the torch the burn down the wooden gate, before leaving to the right. In the next area, light up the torch right in front of you, using Gust. Then use Slipstream to burn down the wooden gate here. Just to the right here is a Melodia Statue. As it turns out, you are back in Blossom Grove. B l o s s o m G r o v e Jump across the tree branches and take out the Glorb on the next platform. Keep moving to the right and take out any more Glorbs that you meet. When you reach the wooden gate, light up the torch above it with Gust. You will notice a Melodia Idol above it, but this can't be accessed yet either. For now, just burn down the gate. Head through here. Pick the Heli-Bud. Walk up to the edge of the cliff. Use Slipstream to get across the wide gap here. Make sure you get far enough to the right. On the platform here is a Melodia Idol (6). Head back to the left and drop off of the cliff. You will fall onto a small outcrop. Drop off of it towards the ground, slowing Toku down, so he is not injured when he lands. Try to stick to the right, so that you don't fall down the gap at the bottom of this valley. If you do, it will take you into the heart of Wither Falls. Once you land, leave the screen to the right. H i l l t o p V i l l a g e Head back to the village centre. Go to the windmill where you found Notea previously. You may notice that there are more Glorbs on your way back, with a couple of Squawks appearing. Once you are at the windmill, you will find that Notea isn't there. Instead there is some guy gardening. Speak with him and he will inform you that Notea has made a discovery in Cliffside Village to the East. Jump across the gap to the right of the windmill. Scale the cliff here, then Double Gust onto the higher platform right next to you. Up here is a Heli-Bud. Pick it and use Slipstream to move upwards and to the right. Sat on a ledge here, is a Melodia Idol (7). From here there are two ways to enter Cliffside Village. You can go either the top or bottom route. To go the top way, get to the ledge with the Melodia Idol on it, then simply jump to the right. There is a tunnel here. To get to the bottom entrance, start from the platform with the Heli-Bud on it. Drop down onto the platform to the right of it. From this platform, drop again and you will land on a path below. Follow this path to the right and exit the screen. Entering via the top entrance seems to be the more complete way, so that is the route that I will take you. C l i f f s i d e V i l l a g e There are a number of Glorbs facing you as soon as you enter this area. Take them all out using Gust. There is a wooden gate blocking your access downwards. Set in on fire using the torch on the right hand wall. Drop down this gap. Slow Toku's descent to make sure he isn't harmed. At the end of this fall, take out the nearby Glorb. Use the mushroom to jump to the grassy ledge on the right. There is another wooden gate barring your way. Set this one on fire using the torch to the left. There is a pit full of Glorbs in front of you. Take them out, then jump over the pit. Climb the cliff on the other side, then turn around. To the left is a stone plateau. Use Gust to guide Toku onto it. You may have to use Gust 2 or 3 times to get onto it. Up here is a Melodia Idol (8). Jump over to the right and walk past the houses. You will come to the top of the windmill. Jump over the gap between the wooden walkways. After this there is a gap in the ground. Drop down it and you will land on a grassy platform. Follow the ledges down to the right and eventually you will fall a longer distance and land on/near a mushroom. Walk over to the left. Cross the wooden walkway beneath the windmill. Just after this there is a gap in the floor. Drop down here. At the bottom of this pit is a Melodia Statue, so save your progress if you wish. Head over to the right and move into a clearing. To the right you will find Notea. Speak with him and he will say something about a new discovery. Finish listening to him and the go and stand in the centre of the clearing. To the left you will see a torch set on the side of the cliff. There is an unlit torch on the right hand cliff. Use Slipstream to set the right hand torch on fire with the one on the left. This will open the door next to Notea. Head inside. T h e C a v e You will now be in a cave similar to Wither Falls. Move to the right and take out the Glorbs. Drop down the cliff to your right. As you fall there is a mushroom next to you on the left. Opposite this there is a rock, whilst is sat on a narrow outcrop. Use Gust to bring this rock along with you. Follow the ledges down past the mushrooms. The very last mushroom will have a Melodia Idol next to it (9). Head down the slope to the left. As the ground levels out, take out any Glorbs in the area. Bing the rock and continue on to the left. There is a pressure switch on the ground here. Set the rock on top of it and a door to the left will open. Head through. C h a m b e r o f M e m o r i e s You have now made it to the Chamber of Memories. In here is a huge-massive statue of Deo. Go and stand right in front of the statue. There is a flaming torch in the centre of the screen. Either side of it are 2 unlit torches. Use Slipstream to light both torches. This will reveal the first Memory Chest. Hold Z, then Gust Toku upwards to open the chest. This will bring back part of Deo's memory. Before heading out to speak with Deo, head over to the left of the chamber. Here you will find a Melodia Idol (10). .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8d) T h e S e c o n d M e m o r y C h e s t [TSMC] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' D e o ' s H o u s e Go back up through the cave and exit Cliffside Village via the bottom route. Unless you came in through the bottom route, in which case you will have missed the Melodia Idol at the top of the village- so head that way. Anyway, once you are done in Cliffside Village, head back right the way through Hilltop Village and arrive at Deo's House. Speak with Deo and he will finally remember who Enril is. He will go on to tell you why he had memory loss. Apparently, Deo is a Spirit too. He has hidden himself as a citizen of Mistralis and hidden his Spirit somewhere secret. He protected this secret, even from himself, buy sealing his memories in 4 sacred chests. Clever huh? You now need to set out and find the remaining 3 chests. Apparently, the next chest can be found in the Old Mines, close Wither Falls. H i l l t o p V i l l a g e From Deo's house, go to the left and leave the screen. Keep moving to the left, heading towards the Lost Cavern. As you go, take out any Glorbs that cross your path. Before you come to the stream, jump onto the raised platform on the left. Leap onto the platform after this and you will find a vegetable. Top up Toku's health if need be. From this platform, use Gust to jump as far to the left as you can. You can reach a grassy platform like this. Head to the left and re-enter the Lost Cavern. L o s t C a v e r n As soon as you enter the Lost Cavern, drop down the gap right in front of you. At the bottom you will see a wooden gate on your right hand side. At the top of the screen is a torch. Set the gate on fire using Slipstream, then head to the right. Take out the Glorbs here, then leave the screen to the right. T h e O l d M i n e s Head over to the right and deal with the two Squawks. Jump over the pit to the right of these. There is a lever on the ground here- pull it. This will open a trap door to your right. Go through it. Drop down the stairs to your left and you will find a wooden gate blocking your path. There is a torch to the right, so use it to burn down the gate. Head through here and you will see a pressure switch to the left. You need something to weigh the switch down. Turn back to the right and drop down the gap here. Follow the ledges downwards. You will find a rock sat next to a Melodia Statue. Save your game, then take the rock up to the pressure switch. Place the rock on the switch and a door will open to the left. Head through. Walk down the sloping path, then drop off of the cliff. You will fall into a large pit. Down here you will find the third Shrine. Stand on the switch in front of the Shrine and the propeller will appear on top of it. Spin the propeller using Gust. You will now learn the power of Vortex! w00t. To use Vortex, Gust an object into the air. Whilst it is still airborne hold A and draw a circle around it. If this is done right the object will suspend in mid-air gently rotating. Whilst this is happening, use Gust to use the object as a projectile. By using Vortex, you can smash your way through tough barriers. There is a ball shaped stone nearby. This is called a Wind Stone. Grab your Wind Stone and try out the Vortex for yourself. There is a crystal barrier to your left which you will need to smash with the Wind Stone. Once you have done this move to the door on the left. There is a crystal in the centre of this door. Use the Vortex close to it and the sound that the Wind Stone makes seems to have an effect on the crystal. It will break and open the door. Head inside. In this next area you will have your first meeting with a Kalarab. This is a small crab-like Glorb with a rocky coating. Hold A and draw a circle around it like you were performing a Vortex. This will make the Kalarab close up into a ball. Quickly Gust downwards into the floor. The Kalarab will break up into a couple of normal Glorbs. Just take them out by Gusting. Drop down the ledge to the left. There is a fruit here, so you can top up Toku's health if you need to. There is a rock on the ground here. If you look to the left of the fruit there are 2 thin rock slabs. Use Vortex to smash these slabs with the rock. Drop down this pit and follow it all the way to the bottom. There are a couple of Glorbs here to deal with. Carry on to the right and you will see a fruit hanging from the roof. If you need to use it then eat it right up. Beneath this fruit, you will find the next Melodia Idol (11). To the right of this are two Yellow Squawks. These are pretty much the same as normal Squawks, apart from they prefer the underground, rather than the outdoors. Now, grab the fruit and take it to the right with you. There is a wooden barrier here. Use Vortex on the fruit and smash it through the barrier. It seems a little odd to me that the fruit is able to do this, but I didn't make the game. Head through the open doorway. Drop down the cliff that is right in front of you. Head over to the right and you will be faced with a Kalarab. Take it out, then use the fruit above it to smash through the wooden barrier to the right. Jump up the ledges here. At the top, go to the left and take out the Glorbs here. Now get onto the raised platform. Up here is another fruit. Use it to smash open the wooden barrier on the right. Go up there and stand on the pressure switch. To the right a trap door will open. Next to the door is a Wind Stone. Move the Wind Stone down through the trap door. It will land on top of another trap door. Move off of the switch, then drop back down to lower ground. To the right there is a pit. Drop down it. There is a wooden gate to your left. Behind the gate is a torch. Set fire to the gate with the torch. Head into this room and collect a Melodia Idol (12). To the right there is a rock. Lift it out of the pit, then use the mushrooms to get out yourself. Up here, there is a wooden barrier to the right. Use the rock to smash it open. Head to the right and climb the cliff here. Use the mushroom to get to the ledge on the left. Kill the Glorb that is sitting here. On this platform there is a lever. Pull it and it will open the second trap door that the Wind Stone is sat on. Head back down and bring the Wind Stone onto this ledge with the lever on it. Lift the Wind Stone onto the wooden platform to the right, then follow it. Throw the Wind Stone up onto the ledge to the left. It is behind the left hand mushroom. Now, use the mushrooms to get up there yourself. Smash the crystal barrier with the Wind Stone. Head through the archway here. In this room you will find a Melodia Idol (13). Leave the room and then jump over to the right. Use the Wind Stone to smash the crystal barrier here. Head through the doorway. In the next area there is a crystal barrier in your way. Smash it with the Wind Stone that is sat behind it. Take out the Glorbs that are swarming around. There is a Melodia Idol on the right here (14). Use the Wind Stone to smash the crystal barrier at the top of the next ledge. Throw the Wind Stone up there and follow it up. Bring the Wind Stone over to the right. You may notice that you are back near the entrance to the mines. Don't worry, that's a good thing. Save your game with the Melodia Statue here. Use Vortex on the Wind Stone to open the door to the right with the crystal in it. Head through this doorway. Pull the lever as soon as you enter this room and it will open a trap door on the right. Drop through the trap door. At the bottom move over to the right and take out the Glorbs and the Kalarab. Walk onto the wooden stairs and stand on the top step. You need to Gust upwards and to the right to land on the wooden platform here. From here jump onto the higher platform on the left. Up here is a rock. Bring it back down to the lower ground. Use it to smash open the wooden barrier on the right. Head through here. In front of you there are 2 pressure switches. Just to the right of these is a hanging fruit. Get the fruit and set it down on the left hand switch. This will open a trap door above your head. Use Gust and move through this trap door. Head over to the right and stand on the trap door here. Try and position your camera so that you can move the fruit from the left switch to the right switch. You may find that you can simply pick a new fruit and do this. If you really want to be lazy though, you can use the Kalarab to break the wooden barrier, then use the rock to weigh down the second switch. Clever huh? Once the fruit is on the switch you will drop through the trap door. Stay over to the right as you fall, as to avoid the Poyak. To the right of the Poyak is a Melodia Idol (15). There is a torch above you here. Use it to set fire to the Poyak and turn it into a seed. Carry the seed back out of the area with the switches. Take the seed to the platform where you found the boulder. On here there is a patch of soil. Plant the seed here and it will grow into a Poyak. Use the Poyak to shoot Toku into the air and land on a ledge to the right. Follow the sloping path upwards and leave the screen. Jump up the two ledges in the next area. Use the torch to the left to set fire to the Poyak here. Now throw the seed onto the platform above, before following it up. Get the seed onto the next platform above you. You can bounce it on the mushroom if you find this easier. Bounce Toku on the mushroom and land on the same platform. On this ledge there is a patch of soil. Plant the seed in the soil and it will grow into a Poyak. Use the Poyak, then Gust over to the right. There is a Wind Stone resting on a narrow plateau here. Throw it off of the cliff and follow it down. Bring the Wind Stone back down to where you originally found the Poyak. From here drop down to the right and use the Wind Stone to break down the wooden barrier. Take out the Glorb here, then use the Poyak to get over the high cliff here. Make sure you take the Wind Stone with you. Drop down the other side. Down here, use the Wind Stone to smash the crystal barrier, then head to the right. There is a Kalarab here, so take it out. There is also a fire. Use Slipstream to move the fire along to the left so that you can set fire the the Heli-Bud here. You will have to keep creating new slipstreams to make the fire move far enough. Once it has been flamed, the Heli-Bud will turn into a seed. Throw it over the narrow cliff and take it to where you found the Wind Stone If you still have the Poyak planted in the soil here, use the torch above it to burn it and transform it into a seed. Now plant the Heli-Bud seed in this soil. It will turn into a Heli-Bud. Grab it and move onto the ledge to the right. Use Slipstream to take you upwards and to the right. Land on the platform here. Take out the nearby Glorbs and collect the Melodia Idol from the right (16). Walk over to the right and the edge of the platform. If you jump and Gust to the right here you will land on another platform. This is where you would end up if you came up from where you originally found the Heli-Bud. So, you're back on track. Drop down the step to the right and leave the screen. When you emerge, there will be a torch in front of you. If you look on the right hand wall of the cliff to the right, there is a small pile of wood. Use Slipstream to set this wood on fire. Now drop down the cliff. There are more piles of wood as you move down the ledges, so keep lighting them up as you move. Take out the Glorbs that you meet. Walk down the stairs until you come to a pressure switch. In the ceiling, before the switch is a gap. Use Gust to get up here and you will find a Melodia Idol (17). Drop back down and stand on the pressure switch. The stone doorway in front of you will slide back. Use Gust to bring the rock that is on the left to you. Put the rock on the pressure switch then advance through the doorway. If you lit all of the piles of wood, you can set fire to the wooden gate on the left, with the torch to your right. Head through here. Take out the Glorb on the other side. Now go through the tunnel to your left, ignoring the trap door beneath your feet for now. Head up the stairs in here. Take out all of the nearby Glorbs and when you reach the top step, turn around and jump onto the higher platform opposite. Head through the doorway here. To the right, there is a lever- pull it. This will open the trap door than you previously walked over. Drop down the gap to the left then go through the trap door. Take out any Glorbs down here, then grab a Heli-Bud. Use a Slipstream to get beneath the long stalactite and then move upwards onto the ledge on the right. Your slipstream should look like something of a "U" shape. Should you fail to make this, you will encounter a Vicious Glorb at the bottom of this pit. To defeat this, wait until it jumps into the air, then catch it in a Vortex before slamming it into the ground. It will then split up into normal Glorbs. Once you are up and in the right place, walk to the right. Here, finally, is the second Memory Chest. Open it up and Deo will regain some of his memory. Leave this room through the doorway on the right. You will now be in the Chamber of Memories. Make your way to Deo's House from here. You need to go through the cave, through Cliffside Village and then through Hilltop Village to get to Deo's House. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8e) T h e T h i r d M e m o r y C h e s t [TTMC] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' Please note that you NEED to speak with Deo at this point. He says there is one at the highest point of Wither Falls. The second is on the east side of the Ruined (Abandoned) Village. Once Deo has finished all his remembering, he will gift you the Jumberella Cape. With this cape you can fly high, using Slipstreams. The polite thing to do is to test the cape now. Use Gust to get into the air, the Slipstream directly upwards whilst using the cape (Z). If you get this right, you can move over to the right and land on a plateau here. Sat here is a Melodia Idol (18). Drop back down and then you have to make a choice. You can either go to the highest point of Wither Falls for a chest, or to the Abandoned Village. It doesn't really matter which order you do this in but I'm going to go to Wither Falls first because it is prettier than the Abandoned Village. Head over to the right and keep going until you reach the stream. There is a rock near here. Take it with you. The entrance to Blossom Grove is barred by a wooden barrier. Use Vortex on the rock to smash the barrier and gain access. Head into Blossom Grove. The first thing you will notice is that the bridge has been fixed. No? Well I noticed it anyway... B l o s s o m G r o v e Once you are in the main area of Blossom Grove, head over to the left, where the Melodia Statue is. Go up the ledge to the left of this and go off screen here. Move to the left and drop down the pit in this area. Recognise where you are? To the right, there is a Melodia Statue behind a wooden barrier. You couldn't get to this earlier, but now you can! Grab a rock from the very bottom of this pit and use it to smash the barrier open. Head inside and collect the Melodia Idol (19). Head back out to the Melodia Statue in Blossom Grove. From here, jump over the tree's branches to the right. Follow the platforms up until you are in the top right hand corner, next to a tunnel on your right. Take out any Glorbs that you meet along the way. Once you are here, use the Jumberella Cape to fly above the torch that is on the hillside. Up here you will find a Melodia Idol (20). Drop back down, then head along the platforms to the left. Climb the stairs here then exit the screen to the left. W i t h e r F a l l s In this area, walk forwards a little and a tutorial screen will remind you of how to use the Jumberella Cape. Directly above Toku's head, there is a gap in the ceiling. Use the Jumberella Cape to get up there. Move over to the left. Use the mushroom here to catapult upwards, then use the next mushroom to shoot towards the platform to the left. Quickly use Gust to scare away the Spiky Plant, so that you can land safely. From here, use Gust or the Jumberella Cape to reach the narrow platform on the right. From this platform, use the Jumberella Cape to fly upwards and slightly to the left. You will land on a very thin ledge here. Once you are on this ledge, jump over to the right. Kill the 2 Squawks here, then climb the tall ledge and leave the screen to the right. On this next screen, walk down the sloping lawn and you will find the third Memory Chest at the bottom. Open it up and Enril will say that you need to go and speak to Deo again. Don't bother going yet though. Instead, go over as far to the right as you can. Gust, the use the Jumberella Cape to fly as high as you can. High up the cliff there is a Melodia Idol (21). Leave this area through the tunnel on the left. Drop down the ledge here, then walk to the edge of the cliff. You need to get to the far left of this area. The best thing to do is to drop back down to where you used the first mushroom. If you jump and Gust to the left from here, you will land on the right platform. Use Gust to scale the cliff here, then move over to the left. There is a mushroom here. Stand on it and you will see a rock sat high above you. Cause that rock to Vortex, then smash it into the thin rock directly above you. This will smash the rock to piece. Use the mushroom now and you can reach the higher platform. On a ledge, to the left, is a Melodia Idol (22). Once you have done this, head back to Deo's house and speak to him. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8f) T h e F o u r t h M e m o r y C h e s t [TOMC] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' D e o ' s H o u s e Deo will send you out to the Abandoned Village, nothing exciting. Leave the screen to the right. H i l l t o p V i l l a g e In Hilltop Village, follow the stairs up to the ruined herb shop. Use Gust to jump over the wall of the shop. On the other side land on the grassy platform then drop down to the left. There is a rock here. Pick it up and throw it over to the right hand side of the grassy platform. Down here this is a man stood next to a wooden barrier. He won't tell you anything interesting, so just smash the barrier with the rock and head inside. T h e A b a n d o n e d V i l l a g e Walk a little to the right and take out the Squawk and the Glorbs. When you come to the first pit, drop down it. At the bottom here, there is a Spiky Plant. Use Gust to scare it off. Just to the right of it is a Melodia Idol (23). From here walk to the right and use the mushroom. Beware of the Glorbs and the Kalarab though. As you bounce into the air move over to the left and land on the higher platform here. There are now two ways that you can go. It really depends on your skill. Grab a Heli-Bud. You don't really need this as you can use the Jumberella Cape now. Anyway, draw a slipstream that will take you directly upwards. There is a gap in the roof. Get through this gap and land on the ledge to the right. If you find this difficult, there is a longer way, with a slightly easier ride with the Jumberella Cape. If you are already up here skip past "END OF LONG CUT". START OF LONG CUT Grab a Heli-Bud then walk to the right. Jump from this platform and negotiate your way beneath the low hanging rock, onto the ledge to the right. On this ledge is a Vicious Glorb, so take it out before it takes you out. If you can't remember how to do this, try using Vortex when it jumps. From this ledge, jump to the wooden platform to the left. From here you can reach a stone step to the right. There will be 3 Glorbs on here- Gust them away. Jump over onto the larger platform to the left. Next to a small fire here, there is a Kalarab. Use Vortex then smash it against the ground. Jump off the cliff to the left and you will see the gap in the ceiling. Hold Z to use your Jumberella Cape and then draw a slipstream through the gap and onto the ledge to the right. END OF LONG CUT Now that we are all back on track, scale the cliff then climb the stairs to the right. Exit the screen on the right. In the new area, jump over the broken bridge. You will now be faced with a Glorb Nest. There is nothing you can do with it yet, but you may notice the wooden barrier about it. Drop down the pit to the left and land on a small platform in the centre. From here drop down to the platform on the right. You can then fall to the bottom of the pit. At the bottom there is a crystal barrier on the left. Behind this you can clearly see the final Memory Chest. To the right of this is a rock and a wooden barrier. Smash through the barrier using the rock. Leap onto the thin ledge here. To the right you will see another Glorb Nest. Jump over it and you will come to a cliff. If you jump towards the top of the cliff you will see a torch in the top right hand corner of the screen. Quickly use Slipstream to burn the Glorb Nest with the fire. Once this is done you can grab and throw the nest, thus destroying it. Go up the cliff and past the torch. There is a lever on the ground here. Pull it and a door to your left will shut, whilst the one to your right will open. Head over to the right and jump over the gap here. Take out any Glorbs and continue following the platforms upwards. Once you reach the top, stand on the platform to the right. Just next to you, on the other side of the wall is a Wind Stone. To the left of the stone are some thin slabs of stone. Use Vortex to smash the stone through the slabs. It will now be sat on a wooden gate. Above, you will see a torch. Use it to set fire to the gate and the Wind Stone will drop again. Leave the Wind Stone for now. Jump over to the left. Take out the Squawk here. You will also find a Kalarab and a Glorb Nest. There is a torch nearby that you can use against the nest. Once you have defeated all your enemies, use the torch to set fire to the wooden gate, which is blocking a gap in the floor. Drop down this gap and you will find a rock, as well as a group of Glorbs. Set fire to the wooden gate to the very left of this area. Now, take the boulder back up the way that you came in. Throw it right up and over, then take it right down to the very bottom of this area. You should end up next to the door that you opened with the lever. To the right of this there is a wooden barrier. Use the rock to open it. Behind here is a pressure switch. Go and stand on it. This will open a door right next to the Wind Stone, leaving you free to bring it out. Bring the stone right down onto the pressure switch that you are now stood on. Once it is on, go up to the room where the Wind Stone has just come from. After dealing with the Kalarab (if you haven't already) collect the final Melodia Idol on the right (24). Get out of this room, and go to the lever which will open and close the two doors, bringing the Wind Stone with you. Pull the lever and the door to the right will close, whilst the one to the left will open. Head through the door and keep going left until you reach the crystal barrier. Smash it with the Wind Stone and then open the Memory Chest behind it. Once you have done this, go back through the Abandoned Village and through Hilltop Village and all the way back to Deo's House. D e o ' s H o u s e Before you speak to Deo, make sure you have all 3 revives and full health intact. If not, top up Toku's health with fruit or vegetables and find enough Spirit Charms to gain 3 revives. This is the last chance you will have to prepare before the Boss battle. Once you are ready, speak with Deo and he will tell you that he entrusted Magmok with his Spirit Power. He will then take you down to the Chamber of Memories. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 8g) B o s s : M a g m o k [BSMM] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' Deo will open up a hole in the ground in the Chamber of Memories. The ground will begin to shake, making Deo think there is something wrong. He will tell Toku to run. When you re-appear, Toku and Deo will be stood outside the cave, in Cliffside Village. Magmok can be seen as a large purple creature, almost ape-like. Apparently he is covered in Glorb and if they triumph over him, Balasar will gain Deo's Spirit Power. Oh my! Magmok will now come on the attack. He will slam him hand down on the ground. You can see roughly where he is about to do this, so get out of the way. You will notice that his hand has a Glorb Nest on it. There are torches at either side of the screen. When you get the chance, set the nest on fire, the grab it by holding Z. Gust Toku upwards as though you were pulling a lever. This is destroy the Glorb Nest. After you have destroyed a nest, Magmok will bring his head forwards on the screen. There is a rock nearby. Use Vortex on it and then smash it into Magmok's head. He will reel back in pain. He will then come back with another slap attack. When he does another rock will fall. Burn the Glorb Nest then throw it into the air again. Magmok will then move his head to the front of the screen again. Use Vortex on the rock again and smash him in the head. This time, Magmok will fall forwards, knocked out cold. His head will be resting on the ground. Quickly set fire to the Glorb Nest on his head, then pull it out. Congratulations, you have just rescued Magmok from the Glorbs. He will now shake off his purple colour and return to his natural green. He will then give Deo his Spirit Power back. Sit back and watch the epilogue. Get all goosepimply at the To Be Continued... message. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 9) M e l o d i a I d o l L o c a t i o n s [MDIL] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' In this chapter, you will find a description of how to find each of the 24 Melodia Idols in the game. You may wonder why the numbering of the Melodia Idols are out of numerical order. The Idols are numbered in the order that they are found, but they are listed here in the area that you find them. This way it will be easier for those people who need to find individual Melodia Idols. L o s t C a v e r n 1) After you have strengthened Enril by activating the first shrine (when you received the Double Gust) head to the left. Double Gust up the cliff here and you will find the Idol at the top. 2) After leaving the shrine room, head over to the right. Move past the fruit and Double Gust up the cliff here. Sat on top of this ledge is an Idol. W i t h e r F a l l s 4) In the West (left) of Wither Falls, after Blossom Grove there is an Idol trapped in a room. Use the Poyak next to it and Gust over to the left. On this platform is a lever. Pull the lever and a door below you will open. Drop down and go through the door before collecting the Idol. 19) Once you have found the second Memory Chest, head into Blossom Grove. Go to the left, past the Melodia Statue. In this next area, drop down the pit, right in front of you. Get a rock from the bottom of the pit and use it to smash open the wooden barrier to the right. Behind this barrier is a Melodia Idol. 21) In the third Memory Chest area, go over as far to the right as you can. Gust, the use the Jumberella Cape to fly as high as you can. High up the cliff there is a Melodia Idol. 22) As you leave the third Memory Chest area, drop back down to where you used the first mushroom. H i l l t o p V i l l a g e 3) After you leave Wither Falls head to the right. Cross the stream and go up the steps. At the top of the steps is a woman. Just to the left there is a tree branch in the air. Double Gust up to it. Move along the next two branches on the right. You will now be on a grassy platform. Use the Poyak and Gust to the right. The Idol is sat on a ledge here. 7) Jump to the platform to the right of the windmill where you first spoke to Notea. From here scale the cliff, then leap onto the higher platform right next to you. Up here is Heli-Bud. Use Slipstream to move upwards and to the right. Sat on a ledge here is a Melodia Idol. S h r i n e o f t h e M e a n d e r i n g W i n d 5) After you have learned Slipstream, go up the cliff to the left. At the top use the torch to remove the wooden gate. Grab a Heli-Bud here. Head to the right and stop at the edge of the cliff. Use Slipstream to move from the cliff through the narrow gap at the top of the screen. Burn the wooden gate away with the torch behind it. In front of you is the Melodia Idol. B l o s s o m G r o v e 6) As you enter Blossom Grove after gaining the Slipstream power, head up to the top right. This can be accessed by jumping on the tree branches. Up here is a wooden gate. Burn it down using the torch above it. Head through the tunnel here. Grab a Heli-Bud on the other side. Use Slipstream to get across the large gap and land on the platform to the right. On this platform is an Idol. 20) Go to the top right of Blossom Grove's main area. There will be an exit to your right and a torch above you. Use the Jumberella Cape to fly above the torch. Up here is the Melodia Idol. C l i f f s i d e V i l l a g e 8) As you come into the main part of Cliffside Village, you will see a couple of houses just above you. This is to the left of the top of the windmill. Stand on the grassy ledge here, then use Gust to reach a stone plateau to the left. You may have to use Gust 2 or 3 times to reach it. Up here is the Idol. T h e C a v e 9) As you enter the cave that precedes the Chamber of Memories, drop down the cliff to the right. Next to the mushroom at the bottom of the cliff, the Idol can be found. C h a m b e r o f M e m o r i e s 10) Sat by the left hand wall of the chamber. T h e O l d M i n e s 11) After you get the Vortex Wind power, head through the door on the left. Keep moving to the left and you will come to a fruit. Use the rock next to this fruit to smash the two thin stone slabs to the left. Drop down this pit and follow it right to the bottom. Take out the 2 Glorbs here then continue to the right. There is another fruit here. Beneath it is the Melodia Idol. 12) This one is kind of hard to explain. It is in the area where you get your second ever Wind Stone. Where you have to recover the stone from behind 2 trap doors. If you go down the pit at the very bottom of this area, there is a wooden gate to the left. Behind the gate is a torch. Burn the gate down and enter the room. In here is the Idol. 13) After you have recovered the Wind Stone mentioned above, take it up through the mine. When you come to a part where there are 2 mushrooms, one on either side of a cliff, you are in the right place. Throw the Wind Stone behind the left hand mushroom, then use the mushrooms to get up there yourself. Smash the crystal barrier here using the Wind Stone. In a room behind the barrier is the Idol. 14) From the room where Melodia Idol 13 is (see above) head over to the right. Smash the crystal barrier with your Wind Stone. Head through the doorway. There is another crystal barrier blocking your way. Smash it with the Wind Stone that is sat behind it. Take out the swarming Glorbs. You will find the Idol sat to the right. 15) After you have returned area near the entrance of the mine (next to the Melodia Statue) go through the crystal door here by using Vortex on your Wind Stone. Smash through the wooden barrier on the right with either a rock (from a higher platform) or with the Kalarab. You can then weigh the left hand switch down with the fruit and a trap door will open above you. Go through then move the fruit to the right hand switch. This will open a trap door to the right. Drop down here and you will find the Melodia Idol sat next to a Poyak. 16) There is a place with a waterfall in the mines. It is next to a Poyak and a high cliff. On the other side of the cliff is a sapling and a crystal barrier. Down here, use the Wind Stone to smash the crystal barrier, then head to the right. There is a Kalarab here, so take it out. There is also a fire. Use Slipstream to move the fire along to the left so that you can set fire the Heli-Bud here. You will have to keep creating new slipstreams to make the fire move far enough. Once it has been flamed, the Heli-Bud will turn into a seed. Throw it over the narrow cliff and take it to where you found the Wind Stone. If you still have the Poyak planted in the soil here, use the torch above it to burn it and transform it into a seed. Now plant the Heli-Bud seed in this soil. It will turn into a Heli-Bud. Grab it and move onto the ledge to the right. Use Slipstream to take you upwards and to the right. Land on the platform here. Take out the nearby Glorbs and collect the Melodia Idol from the right. 17) This is close to where there is a pressure switch in front of a stone door. Just before this there is a gap in the ceiling. Use Gust to get up here and find the Idol. D e o ' s H o u s e 18) After receiving the Jumberella Cape, glide upwards, directly above Deo's house. To the right there is a Melodia Idol sat on a ledge. T h e A b a n d o n e d V i l l a g e 23) When you enter the Abandoned Village, drop down the first pit. Scare away the Spiky Plant at the bottom and collect the Melodia Idol to the right of it. 24) Once you recover the Wind Stone that you need when looking for the fourth Memory Chest, bring the stone down to where Toku is and set it on the pressure switch here. Go to the room where the Wind Stone has just come from. In this room the Melodia Idol can be found. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 10) E n e m i e s L i s t i n g [NMEL] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' There are relatively few enemies within the game, but here they are all covered. ,============================================================================. | G l o r b | |============================================================================| |DESCRIPTION| A small blue and black blob. A) See the Bugs and Glitches chapter below for help with bugs. Q) LostWinds seems to have a lot of bugs in the game, are there any plans to release a patch to rectify this? A) So far there has been no word of a patch from Frontier. Q) Is there going to be a LostWinds 2? A) Yes, but so far there has been not release date set. In fact there is very little information on a sequel, other than we know it exists. You can keep up to date with any LostWinds news by registering on the Frontier website here- http://www.frontier.co.uk/games/lostwinds/register Q) I'm trying to smash a wooden barrier with a rock, but I can't see to throw it hard enough. Help? A) You can't smash wooden barriers until you have the Vortex Wind Power. This means that you can't access places like the Abandoned Village until you have found the second Memory Chest. .============================================================================. | .========================================================================. | | | 12) B u g s a n d G l i t c h e s [BGAG] | | | '========================================================================' | '============================================================================' 1) "Stuck Toku Bug" You may sometimes find that Toku will die, but the game fails to register it. You can still move Toku around but you can't affect him using Gust. You can still affect items around you though. This is reported to happen most often in the battle with Magmok. You will have to re-start from your last save to rectify this. Thank you to iteoX for posting this on the Frontier forums. 2) "No Jumberella Bug" This bug will stop you from progressing in the game. After you have been to the second Memory Chest and gained the Vortex power, go directly to the third Memory Chest in the Abandoned Village without speaking to Deo. Find the third Memory Chest then go and talk to Deo. If you do this the exit to the left of the screen is blocked and you cannot progress. You will have to re-start from your last save. Unfortunately if you used a Melodia Statue since finding the third chest, you will have to re-start the entire game. Thank you to Irudel for posting this on the Frontier forums. 3) There have been a few reports of games crashing, then wiping out your saved files. As yet I have no answer to this, but I know this is a problem that people have suffered with. 4) Sometimes when you fall down a cliff but turn the other way, Toku will get stuck, like he is halfway between running and falling down the cliff. This should be easily rectified by using Gust until you move Toku away from the cliff. 5) There has been a report of the following bug. When playing through a game, save as normally using the Melodia Statues. After a time (say 30 minutes as an example), the game will freeze and crash. Restart your Wii and boot LostWinds back up. The save files are gone! According to Frontier, they have been unable to re-create the problem to suggest a definitive answer to this problem. Corrupt files have been mentioned, so you can try deleting the game from your system and downloading it again.
