Welcome to my fourth FAQ for the Wii -- and this one is not for some fitness
game! *cheers* This will be my second FAQ for the Guitar Hero series. I kinda
did this mostly because I didn't exactly like my GH3 FAQ, so I did another
GH (man, that's twice in a few months!). Anywho, here's what I got, and I hope
you enjoy!
Also, please note that this FAQ refers to the Wii version of the game, and
there may be some differences on other game consoles (namely whether you play
Roadie).
2. Version History****************************GH2****************************
v0.10 - Finished the guide layout, Intro, Legal, instrument stuff, and Quest
mode. Starting the "J" songs in the Quickplay+ song listings.

begins the longest, most arduous, and most menial and boring task of
this guide: documenting them. I luckily made a format to make things a

4. Playing the Instruments****************************GH4********************

THE GUITAR

This one is simple. As the notes scroll down the highway, you'll press one of
the buttons on the guitar that corresponds to it. For example, if you see a
green note scroll down, hold down the green fret button. Then, as said note
passes through the target-things, strum. And thus, you have played a note.
These are worth 50 points (with 1x multiplier).
That was a basic note. There are also longer ones with a "tail" behind it:
these are Sustains. After the initial strum, you'll continue to hold down the
fret. These are worth the initial value of the note plus extra if you hold
the fret.
There are also chords. These are when you see two notes (ie. green and red)
go down the highway. Hold both frets and strum to complete this. Hold both
after strumming if it is a Sustain. The two-note chords are worth 100 points
and the three-note chords are worth 150 (with 1x multiplier).
How about those shiny notes? Those are Hammer-Ons/Power-Offs (commonly
shortened to HOPOs). For example, look at this diagram, where O is the basic
note and the * is a HOPO.

That is how they may appear. You'll never have a note followed by a HOPO of
the same color. To play them, you must play the note most prior to the HOPO and
tap the proper HOPO fret. You may also strum. HOPOs can become Sustains,
chords, or chord-sustains.
And those transparent notes? These are tap notes. These, you'll just tap to
play. If it is a basic note, just tap. Sustains: hold. These don't come in
chords, to my knowledge. These are worth 50 points (with 1x multiplier). You
can still strum, too.
If you're playing on Beginner, all you'll see are multi-color bars. Just strum
or hold a fret and strum for them.
Star Power notes are those spiky notes. Complete a whole set of them to get a
quarter-serving of Star Power (commonly called SP). Get two servings (one-half
gauge) to activate Star Power, which, unless you're using a Power or something,
will double your multiplier. Your multiplier increases by one each ten notes,
with 4x being the max. With Star Power, this value is set at 8x.
To activate Star Power on the guitar, tilt the guitar up or press the button.
TIP: To get extra SP, find a Sustain under the influence of a Star Power
phrase (ie. the base note was a SP note), and whammy the Sustain.

THE BASS GUITAR

For the most part, playing bass is the same as with a regular guitar. However,
notes often come fast and repeatedly. This is where you may need to alt-strum,
which is when you move the strum bar rapidly up AND down, unlike most players
when they start. "Fury of the Storm" on Expert is great practice for this.
SP functions as before.
FYI, there will be a purplish bar that appears sometimes. This is the lowest
bass note. To play it, strum without holding a fret. To play a Sustain, just
let go of all frets. You can still whammy it for SP if wished.

THE DRUMS

Please note that I am inferring here, as I lack a drum kit.
It's simple: strike the drum that corresponds to the note scrolling down the
screen. SP is gained from SP phrases. To activate, hit the yellow and orange
cymbal pads at the same time.

THE MICROPHONE

As with the drums, I lack a microphone, so I am still inferring.
As the notes scroll on the top of the screen, say them -- the part to say is
underneath the colored boxes. These boxes' height determines your pitch: the
higher it is, the higher you're pitch, and vica versa. The blue boxes are
assumed to be SP phrases. To activate SP, press A or B on the Wii Remote or
give the mic a quick double-tap.
5. Stuff About Quest Mode****************************GH5*********************
In Quest mode (similar to the old Career mode), you'll proceed through the
story after turning the characters into Warriors. To do so, play some songs
from their list and get enough Stars. To help you, each has their own power.

The After Time
After completing Quest, your next quest (pardon the pun) is to dominate each
song and chapter of Quest. For this, you are given the All-Powerful power,
which the Demigod of Rock has. To dominate a song in Quest, you must get all
40 Stars from it, regardless of difficulty. This is easiest to do on Beginner,
obviously. Dominate all of the songs in a chapter to dominate it; dominate all
of the chapters of Quest and you have dominated Quest mode.
6. Quickplay+****************************GH6*********************************
In this mode, you can play by yourself or co-operatively as a band. The songs'
basic data is listed in this section.
Additionally, you can get Stars by playing here. Earn enough Stars to get some
Unlockables. You can do a Power Challenge (which usually yields 15+ Stars), a
basic playthrough (earns up to 6), and challenges (all for one song usually
adds up to 30-ish). You can select to target a specific challenge or just go
on and start (which activates them all). So... here you go!

This section lists the Quickplay+ challenges as they relate to the songs. Below
here is the section format. It is somewhat vital to your understanding of the
section, because I liked to keep it short and sweet.
Also, there is the Power Challenge, available for each song. Play it to select
two of these powers, if you've unlocked them in Quest:
~~ Speed Freak -- Minimum multiplier is 2x. Stay at/above 3x to earn
up to five Stars.
~~ Star Power Generator -- Get a 5% SP boost with each 10-note streak.
