How do I get their

I have gotten Homer over to the Kwiki Mart in the lvl where you have to get to the tractor beam of the Alien ship. Beat all the aliens in the mall parking lot and what not, pulled 2 switches AS homer, but I cant get bart over to the Kwiki mart, How do I do this

There is abuttonon you're controller which will allow you to switch characters back and fourth..
