There are 3 ways, one is to beat the Subspace Emissary (or maybe just the forest where you get Link and Yoshi) go to the forest (again Link and Yoshi) and go through the 1st door you see (it wasn't there the 1st time you where there) then you should see a cutscene of Toon Link on the pirate ship, then fight him, you win, he'll join the group, exit and you'll get a message that says you unlocked him. The 2nd way is to just beat the SSE then do classic with anyone. He should show up the 1st time. The 3rd way is to do 500 (i'm probably way off) vs. battles. (or maybe that's someone else)
