The easiest way I find is to buy two shovles, bury one then the next day dig it up, it should be a golden shovle and with that bury bells with it and then a tree will grow.IF it reaches maturity it will grow triple the bells you buried, the more bells you bury the higher chance it will grow fully.

You can also run around your town hitting all the rocks because once a day randomly theres a rock in your towd that spits out bells.

You can also sell shells because some are worth 1,000 bells.
Also every day there are at least 3 fossils you van dig up a day that you can dig up and then have Blatheres tell tou what they are and than sell them.

And every fruit that is not the one that was in your town when you moved in is worth 500 bells and if you plant tham in your town you can make alot of money if you sell many of them at a time.

Hope this helpes!
