Defeating Enemies Guide for Void Bastards

As you explore the different spacestations and spaceships you will inevitably encounter enemies which you can either kill or avoid. This Defeating Enemies Guide for Void Bastards will tell you how to eliminate the tougher enemies you are likely to face.

Screws

Screws are particularly troublesome during the early stages of the game. The best way to deal with them is to try and avoid them altogether by choosing other passages. If you find yourself being chased by a screw try and lure them into a room and then exit it fast and lock the door immediately behind you. Doing this will trap the screw in that room, you just need to remember if you return that way why you locked the door. Another way to help get rid of screws is to use Bushwacker traps, these will damage a screw more than the starting pistol.

Spooks

Although they don't do much damage this can be a problematic enemy during the early stages of the game. What makes this enemy difficult to deal with is their Phase ability which enables them to vanish and reappear somewhere else, usually behind you. If you encounter a Spook and it disappears, turn around and wait for it to reapper. When it does it will prepare to fire at you by opening its cloak, which exposes its weak point. Use the Zapper gadget to stun the Spook and then attack it with a regular weapon to kill it. Spooks only become a problem if you have to stay in a room with one for a long period of time, if you are running around a ship you can ignore them.

Patients

This enemy appears later in the game and is a cluster of floating heads. Use Bushwackers, Clusterflack bombs and the Nebulator weapon to deal with Patients. A successful hit from the Nebulator weapon should kill all the Patients in a cluster.

Zecs

These are women that carry the Bouncer, the same weapon you yourself have which means you will not be able shoot this enemy face on in combat. The best ways to deal with Zecs is to either sneak up behind them and shoot them or use a Banger grenade and throw it in an arc behind them.

Points and Secbots

These are two security elements you will encounter on ships and spacestations. Points are automatic turrets fixed to the ceiling that fire on you causing a massive amount of damage and Secbots are robots that hunt you down if you are spotted by Peeper cameras. You can deal with both of these enemies by shooting them with a zapper weapon which will stun them giving you time to get away. Points and Secbots can also be turned into allies by using merit authorisations.
