Hold L & R at the 'Title' screen and then touch the lower half of either of the 2 main characters on the touch screen (Shinobu or Maya). There are a total of 5 alternate sets (Striped, Personal 2, Polka-dots, Personal 3, and Plain) and touching Maya will move the selection set forward, while touching Shinobu will move the selection set back.

Hold L + R at the 'Title' screen and then tap the lower half of either of the two main characters (Shinobu or Mayaon) on the touch screen. In total there are five alternate sets (Plain, Striped, Polka-dots, Personal 2, Personal 3) which are selected by performing the action again on the desired set. To return to default you need to repeat up to six times.
