It is essential if you want to be successful in Captain Tsubasa: Rise of the New Champions that you have a solid last line of defense as this can be the difference between victory and defeat. It is inevitable that there will be times you will lose possession of the ball and will need to get defenders back to block shots. An effective way to do this is to set up the Final Wall Formation.
To set up the Final Wall Formation you need to go to 'Manage Team' before entering the match and then select the 'Change Tactics' option. Here you will be given the choice of four different formations that can be assigned to the d-pad buttons of your controller. Replace one with the Final Wall Formation and select one of your defenders to act as the blocker. Then during a match just press the designated d-button on your controller to perform the Final Wall Formation and wait for a shot from the other team. If the defender you selected is in position a block animation will be shown and the shot will either be stopped outright or weakened considerably.
