I've been playing this game for awile, and, as strange as it sounds, it's been, "Must PLAY!" to, "What? Play this horrible game?!" Right now, I'm somewhere in between. I have yet to complete the game, but I hope ambition is close! But enough of my yapping, look through this review!
8, or great. That is my rating for the graphics. Literally, the worst graphics are not IN GAME, but in a cutscene. All the characters look great, except for DK, you can SEE the polygons used to build him when he's at the pitcher's mound. But really, other than those, the graphics are superb.
9, or excellent. There isn't an easy way to describe the sound other than that it makes you FEEL the action. You can feel every pitch, every hit, every catch, bang, and thump. The crowd's cheering would be the best part about the sound, but the crowd cheers for the enemy, not you.
10, or perfect. Holy crud, the gameplay has as many tricks and secrets as Area 51 and Roswell combined! Adding the fact that there are about 50 playable characters! If you wrote a strategy guide for only hitting the ball, it would go on forever! Same goes for fielding, pitching, and running.
While this game will make you play for a long, long time; the sheer difficulty will drive away all but the most persistant gamers. You would generaly have to play all the way through Challange mode at least 3 dozen times to unlock all the star characters. Plus that you have to completeall minigames under the highest difficulty to unlock the final stuff.
Overall, this game scores a comendable 9/10 points! If you can get past the devilishly long play time, and the occasional weird-looking character, then this might just be a game for your "Perfect Games that I want to get" list. Just never forget that if you try hard enough for something, you will always get it.
