Cheats, Tips and Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include learn how to parry and charging Injectables. As well as these hints and tips we also have a mini-guide here which goes into more details on some of the tips we have below:

Always Upgrade your Armour

It is essential as you progress through the game that you are constantly upgrading your armour, to upgrade your armour you need pieces that correlate to the piece you're upgrading. The key to managing this mechanic is being aware of the resources you have and the resources you need. Let your upgrade requirements dictate your combat choices. Check out our How to get Max Health, Stamina and Battery guide to find out how you can get enough strength to defeat any boss in The Surge 2.

Learn to Parry

Parrying in The Surge 2 is an essential skill. If you equip the Directional Parry Analyzer Implant you will get a warning to show which direction to parry in. Successfully parrying an enemies attack will allow you to deal a huge amount of damage and will make most fights far easier.

Dodging Attacks

Only dodge attacks from enemies as a last resort, instead see each attack as an opening for a proper directional block. Dodges should mostly be reserved for unblockable attacks, as well as for repositioning.

Execute Cross Combos

The weapons in The Surge 2 are not meant to be wielded and used in one to two attacks at a time. They should be doing cross combos, this is a mixture of vertical and horizontal slashes that form a weapon's move set. The different weapons in the game all have different cross combos, all with varying reach, damage and impact.

Explore Passages and Corridors

The Surge 2 is like a maze, make sure you thoroughly explore all the passages and corridors as there are lots of shortcuts you can open that will make future trips through these areas much easier. While doing this there is also the possibility of finding items, weapons, and implants. Check out our Boss Location and Reward Guide to find out out where you can

find the various bosses and get the high-quality loot they drop when you defeat them.

Break Boxes

Scattered throughout the world of The Surge 2 are breakable boxes that contain a reward. These boxes will either be plain wood or black with white writing on them. The former will usually be an item while the latter usually denotes a shortcut of some kind.

Charge Injectables

Injectables in The Surge 2 are your healing items and they will only save you from dying if you have used the battery power you have built up to charge them. If these consumables are not charged up they are useless to you. Check out our How to Craft Weapons and Armour guide to find out how you can get the blueprints for weapons and equipment, how to craft them, and also how to upgrade them.
