The House of the Dead: Remake is set in December 1998, you assume the role of AMS agents Thomas Rogan and G in their efforts to combat the biologically engineered creatures in the mansion of Dr. Curien, a scientist driven insane by his efforts to control life and death.
- Unlock Cheats
To unlock cheats in The House of the Dead: Remake you must first unlock a certain number of achievements. Once you reach the required number you will be able to enter a code on the main menu to activate the cheat.

Racking up points in The House of the Dead: Remake is important as passing certain point thresholds reveal different endings, and after you have used all your continue tokens you will have to pay in points to stay alive.
The main way to earn points is by shooting down zombies as quickly as possible, but it is also possible to earn point bonuses through various breakables that are hidden throughout the game.
These breakables will usually contain useful items like extra first aid kit items, sometimes though they will contain objects such as gold coins and golden frogs which provide point bonuses when you shoot them.
- Deflect Projectiles
The House of the Dead: Remake is a rail shooter which means you are unable to move the position of your character, the only thing you can control is your pistol and crosshair.
This means when facing creatures that throw projectiles at you such as Moody, Harris, and Drake you must shoot them to deflect and knock them back. Neglecting to do this will result in these weapons knocking down your health quickly.
- Aim for Weak Spots
Each of the zombie creations of Dr. Curien in The House of the Dead: Remake has a weak spot you can exploit to take them down faster which is important as quick kills will earn you more points.
Most of the time the weak spot of the zombie will be their head, but there are plenty of creatures that have weak spots in their chests, stomachs, or arms.
Once you have defeated one of Dr. Curiens zombie creations it will be added to the Creature Library where you will be able to look up their weak spots for future playthroughs.
- Rescue the Scientists
Going out of your way to rescue the helpless scientists is worth the effort because once you save enough of them you will get access to newer and better weapons to kill the zombie hordes.
Rescuing the scientists also grants you first aid kits that are essential to get through certain areas of the game where you will be overwhelmed with enemies.
