How to get Gold

An important resource in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is gold as it is used in many of the game's crafting recipes as gold ingots. In order to create the gold ingots you will need to collect raw gold ores by mining rocks on your farm and in the mines.

However, before you are able to collect the raw gold ores you must first unlock the third mine on your farm. This mine is separated from the other mines on your farm by a broken bridge which you must first repair using either gold or materials. If you decide to use materials you will need x10 Silver Ingots and x30 Supple Lumber. Once you have met this requirement and asked Nigel to repair the bridge it will be fixed on the next-in-game day, and you will be able to cross it to start collecting raw gold ore by breaking the gold-speckled rocks that can be found in and around the mine.

How to get Tools

To get most of the tools in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town you need to enter a specific location daily and initiate talk with the townsfolk there in order to raise their affinity towards your character. Listed below are all the tools in the game and the requirement to obtain them. Prioritize getting the Fishing Rod first as it allows you to catch fish.

Axe:
Enables you to cut down trees to get wood. Given on 1st day.

Sickle:
Enables you to harvest grass. Given on 1st day

How to Upgrade Your Bag

When you begin Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town your character will have a bag that will hold 16 items at a single time that is a separate area from your tools. Once you have filled it up you will need to upgrade it, so it can hold more items.

In order to do this you need to visit the Tool Shop in town and tell Clemens you want to expand your bag. There are two bag extensions you can purchase, the first costs 3,000 gold and adds a third row of slots to your bag enabling you to carry 24 items at once, and the second one costs 15,000 gold and gives you a fourth row of item slots enabling you to carry a maximum of 32 items in your bag. Keep in mind that the Tool Shop is closed on Tuesdays.

Sleep Before you Collapse of Exhaustion

Keep an eye on the stamina of your character because if you allow it to completely drain they will pass out from exhaustion. This is something you want to avoid happening as you will wake up the next day at 10am with only half stamina. Stamina will also run out when the in-game time reaches 2 am so make sure you don't over-exert your character and sleep when it is low. You can replenish most of your stamina by eating in the restaurants and hotels that are in the town, but this will cost gold. To get the highest stamina recovery and also save gold you should choose to eat the Main Dishes.

How to Unlock New Locations

Keep an eye out for structures such as bridges and stables that need repairing as you explore the farm and make a note of the materials and the amount of gold required to fix them. Once these structures are then repaired you will unlock new locations around your farm which will give you access to better quality resources.

This is why in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town it is so important to continually cut down trees for wood to be processed into lumber and mining for ore to be processed into ingots as it will allow you to meet the requirements to unlock new locations on your farm.

Gather Lumber and Iron Ore on the First Day

Spend the first day in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town gathering materials with the tools that you are given by the mayor. Focus on collecting Lumber by cutting down the trees around the farm with the axe and iron ore which you can obtain by breaking stones around the mine which is northwest of your farm with the hammer. If you can't find the ladder going down to the mine you need to break some nearby stones to expose it. You should also gather grass, but only enough to fix the coop.

Collect Wild Crops and Seashells to Earn Gold

When you first begin Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town it is essential that while you explore the farm and get familiar with your surroundings you gather the wild crops and seashells that randomly spawn daily. You need to do this in order to sell them for gold, it is not until later in the game that you will use them for recipes.

Fix the Broken Chicken Coop

One of your first jobs in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is to fix the broken chicken coop which can be found west from your farm. In order to repair it you will need Lumber x20, Stone x20, and Grass x30. You should have no problem collecting these materials when you arrive on your first day. Once the chicken coop has been fixed you will be able to raise chickens which will give you a daily supply of eggs which you will find very useful during the early game.

How to Clear Puddles

One of the many obstacles you will need to deal with when you arrive at your grandfather's farm in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town are puddles. Puddles will appear at random locations each day around the farm, and they can only be cleared by the bucket which you must first unlock. You will not be able to unlock the bucket until Clemens arrives at your farm on the 7th day of Spring and gives it to you. Once you have obtained the bucket you will be able to clear a puddle by standing next to it and pressing the Y button on your controller to scoop it up.

When you clear a puddle you will collect clay, this is a resource that can be used in crafting recipes and machines. It is worthwhile using the bucket to clear puddles and even ponds that are around your farm as doing so will raise your Draining skill level which will unlock certain permanent bonuses for your game.

How to Upgrade Tools

You have access to 9 different types of tools in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town that enable you to perform different tasks on your farm. Aside from the Camera and the Leash these tools can be upgraded multiple times to improve their quality and performance therefore it is important that you unlock these upgrades as fast as possible, so you improve your productivity around the farm.

To upgrade your tools you need to head into town and talk to Clemens at the Tool Shop. Each tool requires both materials and gold to upgrade, the higher the upgrade the more expensive the upgrade will be. Silver tool upgrades will require 5 Silver Ingots and gold tool upgrades 10 Gold Ingots. Below is a list of the upgrades and what each of them cost. Keep in mind that the Tool Shop in town is closed on Tuesdays.

Golden Bucket:
Cost 20,000 gold

Golden Hoe:
Cost 20,000 gold

Silver Watering Can:
Cost 3,000 gold

Silver Fishing Rod:
