I can only do this with the spear... If any one knows how to do with the rod please submit it...

Ok what to do...

Find a fish spot (any island) stand next to them so you can easily see them...

Wait for fish to jump and then splitt second later stab the sea...

If you practise the timing you should NET a fish ever single time...
