The flaming rathian in level 4 goes crazy whan it is close to being dead, and it always kills me right before it dies. I use a "great sword". Should I be using a different weapon? How do I kill it?

dude i killed it with a poison battleaxe, i also killed it with a gs called sentoryu raven, but its not that hard, when it enters rage mode, just keep dodging its attacks and dont get near it. i did this and then followed it back to where it sleeps and i laid 2 large barrel bombs and 2 sm barrel boms and then i hit it 2 more times with pba and it died.
hehe mine i used supremacy blade and a full akantor armor set i only hit it like 10 times and dead.
