Unlock Gold Saucer
Gold Saucer is the arcade mode of the game and comprises of various mini-games such as Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing. Participating in the mini-games gives you the opportunity to earn tokens called Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGP) which although cannot be traded or sold can be exchanged for Gold Saucer specific rewards. To unlock Gold Saucer you must complete the quest 'It Could Happen to You' which you start by talking to Well-heeled Youth in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald.
Change Character Appearance
Mog Station is the account management system for the game allowing you to manage your monthly subscription payment and purchase optional services. To change your characters race and appearance you can go to Mog Station and buy 'Phial of Fantasia' for $10.
Game Content
If you want to catch up with the game content you should just focus on doing the main and blue quests and ignore the sub quests. Main quests are indicated by a flame icon and blue quests are blue.
Unlock Grand Company
When you reach Level 20 you will be able to join a Grand Company, there are three of these organisations you can choose from, The Maelstrom from Limsa Lominsa, The Immortal Flames from Ul'dah and The Order of the Twin Adder from Gridania. Whichever Grand Company you decide to join you need perform the tasks given to you by them to obtain a special currency called Company Seals which can be exchanged for unique items or increase your rank. The higher the rank the better the item.
Unlock Chocobo
When you reach Level 20 you will be able to go to Ul'dah - Steps of Nald to get your Chocobo who not only serves as a form of transportation but also as a companion that will fight alongside you. You will be able to customise the looks and abilities of your Chocobo. To unlock the mount, you need to complete the quest 'My Little Chocobo' which involves purchasing a Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster for 200 Company Seals.
