[0001]___________________ INTRODUCTION _________________

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is the first Dragon Ball game released in the current
gen/ 8th generation consoles. The game still revolves on the original
Dragon Ball universe but now with a significant participation of the
player. History is being distorted and is bound to change forever unless
something is done to fix the anomalies. After being summoned by the
legendary dragon Shenron, the player takes the role of a Time Patroller
with the help of Trunks. Players can create their own characters based on
the game's five prominent warrior races, and fight off various characters
from the game's storyline.

[0002]___________________ GAMEPLAY _________________

The game offers a user-friendly tutorial about the game's combat system.
You can review the tutorials by talking to the robot named Garid near the
Time Nest entrance. Also, the actual buttons in the illustrated tutorials
will vary depending on the controller type layout you selected.

MOVEMENT
===============
(Type C controls)
Left stick - Movement
Right Stick - Camera controls
L1 - Jump/Ascend
L2 - Descend
X - Boost

You can move while boosting by tilting the left stick to the direction you
want after pressing and holding X. You don't need to keep holding X to
boost; once your character is boosting forward, just steer him/her to the
direction you want. He /she will only stop after you let go of the stick.

LOCK-ON
===============
Lock-on to a target by pressing the left stick. You can also remove the
lock-on by pressing it again. If you have multiple targets, you can switch
between them by tilting the right stick. While locked on, all movement and
attacks will focus on the target you're locked onto.

This is a very important control that you'll apply on every battle. Unlike
most fighting games, battles in DBXV are fast-paced and happens mostly
while flying. It will be hard to connect your attacks if you don't lock on
to your intended target. This also allows you to home in on an opponent
easily when boosting.

Attacks
===============
(Type C Layout)
Press Square for weak attacks and Triangle for strong attacks. You can
check the available button combinations in the Pause Menu and selecting
Combos option.

Press Circle to fire regular Ki Blasts. Ordinary Ki blasts are not
primarily used for dealing damage but to harass opponents, interrupt them
from a distance or stop them on their tracks. However, Ki Blast adepts like
the Frieza race can excel in using Ki Blasts as a primary attack method.
Regular Ki Blasts can cancel each other out so you can fire your own Ki
Blasts to negate incoming ones instead of blocking them.

Weak attacks are quick but don't deal that much damage. They're perfect for
opening combos where you can connect strong attacks, and eventually, Super
Attacks. Also, weak attack combos can trigger the "toggle" or bounceback
combo where your character will knockback an opponent, teleport right
behind him/her to deliver another kick and knock him/her back the second
time around, before finishing off with a downward kick, sending the
opponent crashing to the ground. The third connecting attack doesn't need
to be a weak attack; if you time it correctly, you can even connect
powerful Strike or Ki Blast Supers. Combos ending with Strong attacks have
a solid knockback effect.

Press R1 and Circle to grab an opponent and perform a throw. As the game
describes, throws are effective in taking care of blocking enemies and a
knockback attack will usually throw the opponent off guard, allowing you to
use a boost-combo follow up.

Press Triangle and Circle together for a knockback attack. This will send
an opponent flying if he/she wasn't able to block it.

Defending
===============
(Type C controls)
Hold R1 to protect yourself from enemy attacks. While guarding, your
stamina will deplete gradually. Be careful not to run out of stamina or
guard when your stamina is very low. If you run out of stamina, you'll
enter a Guard Break state. This will stagger you, leaving you open for
additional attacks and you won't be able to use any actions (block,
recover, use Evasive skills, vanish) that require Stamina until it is fully
recharged. Blocking more powerful attacks require more stamina, and there
are certain moves that are either unblockable or can instantly break your
guard.

Guarding just at the right moment before an enemy attack connects triggers
a "Just Guard". Successful Just Guards can stun the aggressor and restores
a bar of Ki, allowing you to counterattack immediately with a powerful
Super Attack.

Also, you can spend at least 3 bars of Stamina to activate an Evasive Skill.
This is a very effective way of giving yourself breathing space in case
you find yourself in a pinch, especially when fighting multiple enemies.

Counterattacking
===============
Vanishing requires two stamina bars to execute when taking damage from an
enemy attack or one bar when you're guarding. This move allows you to
teleport behind your enemy to counterattack while avoiding further damage
at the same time. Take note that the opponent can also vanish in response
to your vanish, while you can do it the second time and so on. Usually, you
can do two consecutive Vanishes so use this sparingly.

Overpowering a Guarding enemy
=============================
Charge attacks are slow but if they connect, they'll crush the enemy's
Guard, leaving them open for follow up attacks. You can also use Vanish
offensively to circle around the enemy and attack him/her from behind. As
the game describes, throws are effective in taking care of blocking enemies
and a knockback attack will usually throw the opponent off guard, allowing
you to use a boost-combo follow up.

Super Attacks
===============
Hold R2 to bring up the Super Attacks control menu. You can have up to four
Super Attacks. Most Super Attacks require at least one bar of Ki to activate.
There are helpful Super Attacks you should consider adding, like Energy
Charge which restores your Ki while holding or Instant Transmission, which
allows you to teleport instantly in front or behind an enemy, giving an
opportunity to immediately connect with a Strike Super/Ultimate Attack or
short-ranged Ki Blast.

Most Super Attacks need Ki to use. It's advised to use Super Attacks after
landing a combo of basic attacks, to have a higher chance to connect. You
can freely change what Super Attacks assigned in each button by accessing
Customize > Skills in your menu. Also, you can't chain multiple Super
Attacks consecutively.

Ultimate Attacks
===============
These are your finisher moves. They usually require three bars of Ki to
use and usually have higher damage output. Holding L2 and R2 together
will bring the Ultimate Attacks/ Evasive Skill menu. You can only have two
Ultimate attacks and one Evasive Skill.

[0003A]_________________________ PROLOGUE _____________________________

You'll start off with the battle against Frieza. This is a good time to get
accustomed to the game's battle system and controls. You can pause the game
and check the available combos. After finishing off Frieza, you'll be
battling Perfect Cell next. After defeating him, you'll face Kid Buu. This
is the last of the prologue battles you have to complete. After that, you
can skip the opening movie.

Shenron will be talking to you, the player. From here, you can select one
of the five races. For more information about each race, refer to the
dedicated pages for each race on this guide. After selecting your race,
you'll select your character's gender. (If applicable) The following screen
will allow you to further costumize your character's appearance, name and
voice.

One more selection you need to make is your starter skills based on your
style. For starters, it's recommended to select the balanced layout.
Shenron will disappear afterward. Trunks will appear and will attack you
after a brief talk. This is to test your abilities.

Trunks Test
This battle should be easy, even for starters. Just make sure to read the
tutorial messages that will pop from time to time since they're imperative
in the whole game. After defeating him, you'll earn experience and zeni
(money).

Trunks will brief you about the place and situation you're in. After that,
you're free to explore the area. You can also open your main menu and
discover the basic options available. Most of the NPCs won't tell you that
much except for the old man Ziko located in the northeast corner of the
Plaza of Time.

You also need to visit the other two sectors. You have to talk to the NPCs
with the question mark over their heads to count towards the task Trunks
gave you (talking to other Time Patrollers). The shops and other
establishments here are closed at the moment but they'll be opened as you
progress in the game. After checking out both the Industrial and Time
Machine sectors, return to Trunks and talk to him. Trunks will then bring
you to the Time Nest and hand you over a scroll that lead to the events in
Age 761.

[0003B]_________________________ SAIYAN SAGA ___________________________

Invasion of Earth! Saiyan Warrior Raditz
========================================
Win: Defeat Raditz
Lose: Player's HP is depleted

Raditz should be easy to beat. There will be three of you ganging up on him
so you'll have no problems defeat him.

After defeating Raditz, you'll be back in Toki Toki City with Trunks. With
the timeline corrected, you can now accept more quests to correct distorted
timelines from Trunks. The shops are available now as well. Talk to Trunks
to receive an Old Scouter. You can equip it from your Customize menu. The
Time Patrol missions are the main quests while the Parallel Quests are the
sidequests. Leave the place and explore Toki Toki City if you want.

For starters, go to the Time Machine Sector and start the first Parallel
Quest to learn more about it. After completing that Parallel Quest, you can
do things on your own pace. You can take on a new PQs if you want. You can
complete PQ's until 03 (Saiyan Blood). After that, no new PQs will become
available until you proceed with the story. When ready, talk to Trunks in
the Time Nest.

[0003C]_________________ RETURN OF THE SAIYANS _________________________

Infestation! Saibamen Scourge
=============================
Win: Defeat 20 enemies
Lose: Player's HP is depleted

For the first part, you have to defeat three Saibamen. After dealing with
them, you'll be surrounded by several more, including the more powerful
Grey ones. The mission will be automatically completed after you defeat 20
of them, including the Grey Saibamen. After completing this objective, you
have the choice to continue to the next scenario or return to the Time
Nest. If you chose the latter, simply talk to Trunks to resume.

Arrival of the Saiyan Warriors
==============================
Win: Defeat all enemies
Lose: Player's HP, Gohan, or Krillin's HP is depleted

First you have to battle Nappa with Piccolo. As you deal damage to him and
wear him out, a cutscene will trigger and Piccolo will sacrifice himself to
cover Gohan. In the second phase of the battle, you'll fight him with Gohan
and Krillin. Further lowering his HP gauge will trigger yet another
cutscene where Goku arrives. This time, you'll have to deal with Nappa
alone while Goku handles Vegeta. Be careful with Nappa if you're a striker
since he seems to love to grab opponents. After taking him out, join Goku
and defeat Vegeta.

Power x10! Vegeta Transforms!
=============================
Win: Defeat Great Ape Vegeta
Lose: Player and Ally HP depleted

This battle should be easy enough. First, you have to keep attacking the
Great Ape to drain its stamina and force it to a "Break State". You can
also grab its tail to perform a throw attack that will greatly reduce its
stamina. Executing a throw while the Great Ape is in "Break State" will
deal huge damage to it and also give you a chance for a follow up attack.
In the first phase, just attack it or aim for its tail. Goku should be able
to completely deplete the first life gauge by lifting the Great Ape by the
tail and slamming it to the ground.

After the cutscene, carefully attack it and keep an eye on its attack.
Fully depleting the stamina will trigger a cutscene with Krillin
successfully cutting off the Great Ape's tail and making him lose power.
scenario complete!

Prince's Pride! Limit Battle
============================
Win: Defeat Vegeta
Lose: Player's HP depleted

This battle should be manageable with Goku's help. However, don't
underestimate Vegeta. Even when critically wounded, he can still put up a
fight. Just perform your combos and be aggressive to build your gauges so
you can perform more potent finishers.

[0003CC]__________ RETURN OF THE SAIYANS: INTERMISSION _______________

Completing the previous Saga will correct the current Scroll you're working
on. While talking to Trunks, you'll finally meet the Supreme Kai of Time.
After the conversation with them, you're free again to do what you want.

Single Lobby is now enabled. Other player's custom characters will appear
in the city as NPCs. You'll know them immediately since their names are
colored Yellow. You can pay these pseudo-NPCs with Zenis to recruit them to
your team on your next PQ. You can only recruit if you're the team leader.
Also, if you happen to find a Patroller that you want, you can tag it as
Favorite so you can summon/recruit them anytime in the future.

Multi-lobby is also enabled. This is where you can communicate with other
online players, form teams, battle against them, and do PQs together. Take
note that all online features of the game requires a Playstation Plus
membership. If you don't have a PS+ subscription, only offline features are
available to you.

Ziko, the old guy outside the gate leading to Time Nest will also give you
an Energy Capsule for your commendable efforts.

Other additional changes after completing the last saga:
 -- New PQs will be available from here on.
 -- Vegeta is now available to be selected as a Master
 -- More characters unlocked to be selected as Support Characters

[0003D]_________________  GINYU FORCE SAGA _________________________

Those Weird Guys! Ginyu Force
=============================
Win: Reduce Ginyu's health to a certain amount / Defeat Recoome
Lose: Player HP depleted

In this battle, you'll be teaming up with Vegeta in fighting Ginyu. He's no
pushover, capable of using explosive waves to disrupt your combos and use
powerful ki blasts as well. Fight defensively and use your vanish
sparingly. Vegeta will be aggressive in his attacks, making Ginyu aggro
towards him most of the time. Use this chance to attack from behind and
always end your basic combos with supers.

Goku Clashes with the Ginyu Force
=================================
Win: Reduce Ginyu's health to a certain amount
Lose: Player HP depleted
This time, you'll be teaming up with Goku against Ginyu. Keep attacking him
until his HP is reduced to below 25%. During this time, Jeice and Burter
will arrive to back Ginyu up. Defeat them as well to complete this mission.

Spaceship Sneak Mission as Ginyu
================================
Win: Defeat 20 enemies
Lose: Player HP depleted, Ally HP Depleted

The problem here is that your allies need to survive through the entire
ordeal until you defeat 20 enemies. Unfortunately, you can't revive KO'd
allies and the enemies you defeated will just keep coming and coming. The
faster you can defeat them, the easier your time will be. First off, attack
the henchment and defeat 10 of them. Guldo will appear with a couple more
henchmen. Defeat him to force him to flee then defeat the remaining number
of enemies to complete the mission. If Krillin or Gohan seems to get
defeated faster than you can wipe out the remaining henchmen, consider
bringing an All-Energy Capsule S to heal everyone's health.

Take Back History and Your Body
==============================
Win: Defeat all enemies
Lose: Player HP depleted, Ally HP depleted

It is recommended to bring a healing item or two in this battle. First, you
have to battle Ginyu possessing your original body. After dealing enough
damage, a cutscene will trigger where you'll get your body back and Ginyu
will take over Goku's body. The damage you suffered in the previous battle
will be inherited so you'll start the second phase of the battle bloodied
and beaten. Heal up as necessary then continue beating up the possessed
Goku. Be careful though since he'll be powerful enough to lay waste on you,
especially if you haven't healed up. In the next phase of the battle, Ginyu
will call on Guldo to join the battle. Vegeta will intercept him. Defeat
Guldo first then continue pummeling Ginyu to complete the mission.

Discovered! History Invaders
============================
Win: Reduce enemy healt to a certain amount.
Lose: Player HP depleted

The game's real villains will now appear. The time invader called Mira will
be your opponent. At first, he'll be fighting defensively so use charged
attacks and grabs to break his defense and deal damage to him. Make sure to
save your stamina later on when he starts to fight back. He deals
considerable damage but if you didn't struggle in your last few battles in
this saga, then you should be able to manage this fight. You don't need to
defeat him; you just need to deplete his HP low enough to complete this
mission.

[0003DD]____________ GINYU FORCE SAGA: INTERMISSION ___________________

After the last battle, watch the cutscene and you'll be back in the Time
Nest. You'll learn more about the two time invaders you encountered. Better
yet, another timeline has been fixed. Of course Trunks will tell you that
another timeline is being disrupted but before that, you can take care of
four new PQs. New characters are now unlocked as well.
 (Ginyu Force Members)

[0003E]_____________________  FRIEZA SAGA _________________________

Emperor Frieza!
===============
Win: Reduce Frieza's health to a certain amount
Lose: Player HP depleted, Goku is defeated

Frieza's first form is somewhat a pushover especially if you're training
hard prior to this mission. He has particularly nasty combos and follow-up
attacks he can pull. Just keep attacking him until his HP is critically
low. This will trigger a cutscene where he'll immediately transform to his
final form.

Finally! Raging Super Saiyan!
=============================
Win: Reduce Frieza's health to a certain amount
Lose: Player HP depleted

After the events leading to Krillin and Piccolo's death, Goku has
transformed to a super saiyan. You have to help him fight Frieza. Though
your character will appear battered, he/she'll be in full health when
fighting Frieza. You don't have to worry about Goku since he'll be more
than enough to deal with Frieza; however, make sure to be aggressive as
well to end the mission quickly.

Final Battle! My Full Power!
===========================
Win: Deplete Frieza's health
Lose: Player HP depleted

Now, the final battle is at hand. However, it may be anti-climactic since
Goku's quite overpowered already at this point. Just attack Frieza and deal
as much damage as you can to end the battle.

[0003EE]_________________  FRIEZA SAGA: INTERMISSION ____________________

You'll be back in the Time Nest. After the cutscene, head outside and talk
to Ziko to get an Energy Capsule M. Like before, completing the previous
saga will unlock more Parallel Quests for you to tackle. Frieza's three
forms is also now unlocked as support characters.

[0003F]_____________________  CELL SAGA _________________________

Do Not Let Hercule Die!
=======================
Win: Reduce Cell's health to a certain amount
Lose: Player HP depleted, Hercule HP depleted

You'll be fighting Perfect Cell. He's strong, and can't be staggered
easily. He can also unleash annoying follow up attacks and a LV3
Kamehameha. Make sure to use Ultimate Attacks against him if you can since
it's the only sure way of dealing solid damage to him. He's aggressive so
expect him to almost always get in your line of fire. Don't hesitate to use
items as necessary. To complete this mission, you have to get his HP down
to 20-25%.

Hercule's Fight! Out of the Way!
================================
Win: Defeat Hercule
Lose: Player HP depleted

Hercule will be powered up now and will be a worthy opponent. He's fast and
will almost always use explosive evasive moves to break your combo and
super strikes. One of the best ways to deal with him is to use strong
attacks that can send him flying. This way, you'll get some breathing
space. He doesn't have any powerful Ki Supers. Concentrate your attacks on
Hercule only and avoid getting in Cell and Goku's battle. If you can afford
using multiple Ultimate finishers at a time, make sure to use them against
this possessed Hercule.

Immortal Hercule at Cell Games
=============================
Win: Defeat Hercule
Lose: Player HP depleted

You'll fight a powered up Hercule once more. His attack patterns are the
same and he'll still be as aggressive as ever. Use the same tactics you
used to defeat him the first time around.

Rage Gohan! Villanous Cell Jr
Win: Defeat 6 Cell Jr
Lose: Player HP depleted, Ally HP defeated

These Cell Jrs are fast, pesky, annoying and quite powerful. Expect to be
attacked on all directions most of the time. Be aggressive and defensive at
the same time. Use your evasive skills if you get ganged up and concentrate
your attacks on one Cell Jr at a time. After defeating three of them, Gohan
will get possessed and will berserk. Make quick work out of the remaining
Cell Jr.s to complete the quest.

Warrior of the Future, Mira!
===========================
Win: Defeat Mira
Lose: Player HP depleted

Trunks will be fighting with you but you still need to take care of
yourself since it's game over if your HP is depleted. Mira is a solid
warrior, with high HP and attack. His speed isn't that great so you'll be
sure to catch up with him and land attacks almost all the time. Be careful
of its Ultimate attacks since it has two phases; one is a large energy ball
at short range, and the follow up attack where he'll throw it as a
projectile. Mira seems to have a lot of stamina as well since he can
counter-vanish at least three times in a row. His combos doesn't hurt that
much surprisingly, and he doesn't use annoying explosive evasive skills
that much when you're landing combos on him.

Don't Lose Gohan! Perfect Cell!
==============================
Win: Defeat Perfect Cell
Lose: Player HP depleted, Gohan's HP depleted

In this battle, you have to ultimately defeat Cell with Gohan's help.
Gohan's Kamehameha is a very potent weapon against Cell, capable of taking
out a large chunk of his HP. Strike attacks aren't that effective against
Cell so if you have Ki Blast Supers or Ultimate attacks, you have to use
them often. Cell has a very damaging evasive skill as well, further
discouraging complete reliance on Strike supers.

[0003FF]_________________  CELL SAGA: INTERMISSION ____________________

 -- As usual, more PQs are unlocked. 4-Star PQs can now be selected.
 -- Gohan (Teen) will be around to offer PQ #19 but save that for later
    until you gain a few more levels and better skills.
 -- Super Saiyan Gohan (Teen), Hercule, and various Cells are added to the
    roster.
 -- New inventory available in various shops

[0003G]_____________________  ANDROID SAGA _________________________

The Cruel Androids of the Future
================================
Win: Defeat all enemies
Lose: Player HP depleted, Trunks HP depleted

Both of them are quite powered up and they are also hard to stagger.
Android 18's evasive skill also showers Ki blasts around her so be careful.
They also tend to double-team their targets, so if you find yourself
getting pummeled by them, use an evasive skill to stop their attack.

Cell is Here?! Save Trunks!
===========================
Win: Defeat Cell
Lose: Player HP depleted, Trunks HP depleted

You'll be fighting a possessed Perfect Cell with Trunks. He's tough, has
high HP, and you can't almost stagger him. Powerful Ki Blast Supers and
Ultimates can take care of this. Also, combos may not be a good idea
against him since he tends to use evasive blasts quite frequently. Combo
only when you need to build up your Ki gauge for your special attacks.

[0003GG]_______________  ANDROID SAGA: INTERMISSION ________________

The previous Time Patrol saga is very short so you can go back in the city
and check the new things available:

 -- Talk to Ziko outside the Time Nest gate to get a Power Capsule M
 -- The shops have new items for sale as well.
 -- New PQs are available as well.
 -- New characters unlocked. (Future Trunks, Android 18, Android 17)

[0004]___________________ PARALLEL QUESTS _________________

For illustrated guides for the available (offline) Parallel Quests can
be found via the link below:

http://www.supercheats.com/dragon-ball-xenoverse/walkthrough/
parallel-quest-basics-1

OVERVIEW
===============
Parallel Quests can be triggered by talking to the robots in the building
of the same name. There are Online and Offline Parallel Quests. You need a
Playstation Plus subscription in order to take Online PQs. Offline PQs are
readily available and more will be unlocked as you complete preceding PQs
and Time Patrol quests.

PQs are very important since they're the main source of experience and zeni
from the game. Since you can repeat any PQ as many times as you want, it's
possible to get multiple copies of items that you can use or sell. Skills
are dropped by chance; after successfully getting the skill in a particular
PQ, it will be grayed out in the PQ's rewards page. For starters, most PQs
are accepted from this building in the Time Machine Sector.

Additional PQs are unlocked as you complete preceding PQs or complete Sagas
(story missions). There are also PQs that can only be triggered by talking
to various characters (like Raditz or Nappa for example) hanging around
near the Time Machine Sector. After completing their PQs, these will be
conveniently listed in the Quest Information building for you to replay
them again easily.

HIDDEN CONDITIONS
=================
There are hidden conditions for every PQ. If you haven't discovered the
hidden condition yet, it will be marked as blue "??????" in the quest
details page. Unlocking these hidden conditions will trigger special
events, additional enemies, and extra locations which will allow you to get
a higher rank at the end of the mission. The individual pages on this guide
will feature all the hidden conditions; however following the conditions
doesn't seem to guarantee to trigger them all the time.

REWARDS
===============
PQs have a list of possible rewards. For completing each PQ, you're
guaranteed to earn experience and zeni. Costumes, and skills however are
only dropped by chance and by defeating opponents. If you're after a
specific skill, depending on your luck, you may get it on your first run or
after several attempts. Also, you have to finish the quest until the end in
order for you to keep the collected items in the previous scenarios /
objectives.

PREPARATION
===============
Before heading to a PQ, always consider doing the following:
1. Equip recovery items. Buy more from Item Shops or mix them using the
materials you gathered with the help of Mixing Shops. These are invaluable
especially during long quests with multiple scenarios.
2. Check your equipment. Always make sure you have the best equipment you
can get before heading out.
3. Boost your attributes. After leveling up, make sure to spend your skill
points boosting your attributes. It's a necessity!
4. Buy new skills if you can afford them! An empty skill slot is a wasted
slot, especially if that's supposed to contain skills that can get your
combo and offense going.
5. If you're under the tutelage of a Master, make sure you have equipped
their technique.
6. Finally, if you can't seem to get a higher rank or if you always fail a
particular PQ, don't fret. DBXV is about grinding and leveling up your
character. Repeat previously completed PQs and level up.

SEARCHING FOR ENEMIES AND ITEMS
===============================
In battle, you can press the Left DPAD to search for enemies. You can find
enemies even through solid obstacles. Locking on the target while on Search
mode allows you to view even more detailed information.

Each area has hidden material items that you can reveal using this method.
There are material items hidden in some stages. Searching them will tag
their location and the spot will be marked with an exclamation point. Stand
on the spot and press Circle to gather the material. Some materials are
found inside rocks or boulders. You have to destroy them with Ki Blasts so
you can gather them. Take note that you'll only find generic materials
here; rarer drops are acquired by defeating random Time Patrollers that
appear on certain missions.

TRANSITION GATES
================
Every location in PQs have interconnecting gates. They'll only unlock after
completing objectives in the current location, like defeating the targets.
To use this, lock on the gate, get near enough, then press Circle.

Sometimes, you have to use Search mode to know which active Gate you need
to go.

PQ REVIEW
================
You can check valuable information in your current PQ by pressing the right
DPAD. You can also see the connected locations, quest conditions, and
obtained items or skills.

INTERRUPTIONS
================
Sometimes, there will be instances that new enemies appear after meeting
some requirements (like defeating the main targets in the shortest time
possible). Most of the time, these new enemies count toward your evaluation
at the end of the quest, and gives you a chance to have a better rank or
get an material or key item from them. Fortunately, new supporters will
arrive the same way.

SUPPORT CHARACTERS
==================
As you go through the main stories and complete parallel quests, more
characters will be unlocked. Before heading out on a PQ, you can select up
to two Support characters. You can also use one of the original characters
instead of your custom fighter. Also, if you're under a Master, including
that character in your team when going on quests increases your affinity
or friendship level to that character faster, unlocking more training
sessions on the way for them to teach their ultimate skills.

REVIVING CHARACTERS
==================
In some quests, when a player's HP is depleted, it's game over. On some
quests however, your allies can revive you. You can also do the same for
them. Even when down, characters can provide assistance by locking on to
one of their teammates. The assists they perform will depend on the
character's unique attributes.

Also, Saiyan characters enjoy a boost of stats once they're revived,
making them more efficient in battle after getting KO'd and revived.
While down, you can use items to revive yourself.

[0005]______________________ MASTERS ____________________

"Masters" are powerful martial arts masters that appeared throughout
history. You'll have the opportunity to find them in Tokitoki City. They
have a unique marker beside their names making them stand out and easy to
find. Just talk to them and defeat them in battle for them to acknowledge
your strength and take you in as a student.

You can only have one master at a time. If you train under a different
master, you'll have to end your apprenticeship with your current master.
This is not the end though; you're free to switch masters without
repercussions, whenever you please. You have to prove your strength to a
Master by passing his "test of skill" battle. He'll then teach you one of
his techniques. There are four lessons or challenges Masters can give, and
you'll get a new skill if you're triumphant. Talk to your master once in a
while to receive free items from them as well.

You must increase your affinity level with your masters as proof that
you've grown stronger as their student. There are three ways of increasing
it:

1. Include your master as a support character in PQs
2. Use the techniques he taught you
3. Earn experience as his student. The higher the exp you earn every PQ,
the faster your master will grow fond of you.

Keep doing the conditions above until your master acknowledges your mastery
over the technique he taught you. Your current master will usually wait in
the bottom of the stairs from the time machines. You'll know that he's
ready for another challenge when you see a blue question mark over his/her
head.

Each master can teach you four different skills, with the new ones more
powerful and potent than the last. To check your affinity level with your
current master, access the Play Data option from your main menu.

New masters will become available as you complete story missions. Also,
they're not always in the same location or appear in the same city all the
time. They locations and appearances seem to be random so keep "reloading"
the city by selecting a PQ until the character selection screen then
cancelling out. Keep doing this and searching around until you find the
master you want to talk to.
