Don't Use the Cockpit Cam

Although the cockpit cam in V-Rally 4 looks great as you drive through the tracks it is recommended that you avoid using it as it is not practical. Its biggest disadvantage is that your view is cluttered and parts of the car itself, such as the a-pillar (the roof support structure on either side of a vehicle's windshield) covers parts of the track that you want to see. Jumps using the cockpit cam can also be disorienting.

Regularly Check your Garage

Make sure you regularly check your garage as engineers will frequently come up with new pieces which you can apply to your car that will make a substantial difference to their performance. Hiring the best engineers you can afford for your crew will save you money as it is way cheaper than buying new cars.

Don't Save Money

Money is plentiful in V-Rally 4 so don't bother saving it, you will find it a lot more beneficial to spend the money you earn on getting the best crew of people in your team as soon as possible. This means hiring mechanics to repair your car between rally stages and engineers that will come up with better pieces to improve the performance of your car.

Listen to your Co-Driver

It is crucial that you listen to what your co-driver has to say and don't just rely on looking at the map on your HUD that allows you to see the track. The co-driver will not only tell you when a bend is coming up but also give you information you can't know, such as accidents for example. This means it is essential that you listen to them in order to know in advance if there is anything up ahead you need to deal with.

Master the Handbrake

In order to dominate any of the types of races in V-Rally 4 you will need to use the handbrake. Slowing down for every corner, braking and easing round the bend will not win you any races. Regardless of the type of terrain, you will need to slide round the surface at the highest speed manageable to get the best times. Becoming proficient with the handbrake will also make it easier to master the Gymkhana events where you will need to maneuver through a predetermined 'track' performing lots of different driving techniques.
