Stay in Cover

Always stay in cover unless you are absolutely sure there are no enemies about. If you decide to climb out of a trench you will be quickly killed if there are enemies in the vicinity. Although you can still be instantly killed by a headshot or hit through a wall if you are in cover you at least stand half a chance of surviving.

How to get the Where No Man has Gone Before Achievement/Trophy

To get the Where No Man has Gone Before achievement/trophy you must analyze an anomaly. The easiest and quickest way to do this is to use an RC Explorer, which carry advanced examination and research apparatus. Load the map and use your Probes to scan the area. An automated voice will inform you if anything has been found and will be indicated by a yellow circle on the surface.

All you need to do then is select your RC Explorer, hover over to the circle and press RT + X on your PlayStation controller (RT + A on your Xbox controller) to analyze an anomaly. When it finishes scanning the achievement/trophy will unlock.

Fully Staff Production Facilities

Always keep an eye on your production facilities to ensure they are filled to capacity in order to get the most out of your inputs. Production facilities have high upkeep, and it is crucial that you avoid them using more electronics than they produce. You may want to consider assigning a night shift if your average sanity is good.

Only Build Things you Need

It is important to remember that buildings in Surviving Mars deteriorate and require maintenance goods regardless if they are disabled or not being used. To keep your expenditure down it is particularly in the early days of your colony that you consider carefully what you build. It is advised that you build a MOXIE, a scientific instrument that will produce a small amount of pure oxygen from Martian atmospheric carbon dioxide, before you ferry in your first colonists.

Build Deposits to Store Goods

It is crucial that you build enough deposits to store your goods. A good strategy is to spread them throughout your colony in order to reduce transport distances. By having multiple drone hubs you can place a depot in their overlapping range which will then allow your drones to more evenly distribute materials across the colony.

Take a Science Rover to Analyze Anomalies

When you scan sectors in Surviving Mars you will discover plenty of anomalies. If possible, take at least one science rover along with you so you are able to analyze them as doing so will make the game easier. When you analyze anomalies it will give you extra tech options, free research and other useful benefits you can take advantage of.

How to get the Bubble Wrap Achievement/Trophy

To get this achievement/trophy you need to build a dome. Eventually you will reach a point in the game where you have gathered enough resources to begin constructing your first dome. It is essential that you have plenty of concrete. Once you are ready go to the 'Domes' tab in the 'Build' menu and select 'Small Dome' (it will be the only option available).

Now find a location that is near your deposits and your drones and if you have the required materials you will automatically start building the dome. Once the dome has been constructed the achievement/trophy will become unlocked.

Don't Use More Cable and Pipe Networks than Necessary

It is more beneficial if you avoid creating large cable and pipe networks as doing so increases the chance of faults. Don't use more cables or pipes than necessary as frequent leaks will cost you resources and keep your drones needlessly busy. You can help prevent this from happening by using buildings and domes to separate your networks by connecting on one side and continuing on another access point.
