About Me:

Im 18, been playing games since I was 5. I currently own all
the Next Generation consoles. My favorite is PS3. My favorite
game is Final Fantasy 7. I love Beat Em Up type games such as
this. I like helping people, hence the reason I'm writing this
guide. I'm always on the message boards, hell you might recognize
my name. Anyway , this section has gone on too long.

About Heavenly Sword:

Heavenly Sword is a fast paced action game very much like God of War ,
Devil May Cry , Ninja Gaiden ,and Rygar. It has a very cool combo
system coupled with a kick ass Superstyle meter to pull off bone
crushing , gut wrenchin , badass moves. It feels a lot like the God
of War games with the blades that Nariko uses. Basically , this game
is God of War with a female. It DOES feel a lot differant in ways.
For instance , there is no magic but a Superstyle meter that consists
of three levels. There are three fighting stances ( Speed , Range ,
and Power) that when mixed create unparraled elements to the non-stop
action that this game offers. If you like Hack N Slash Beat Em Up's then
Heavenly Sword is for you.

You can reach me at the following:

PSN: Solid_Fantasy ( by far the easiest way too reach me )

AIM: ResidentEvil719 ( another easy way too reach me )

AOL Blob719 ( I rarely sign on )

If you have any questions please ask me, I'm very friendly.
Lastly, just have fun with this intense action beat em up.

explained in the Combo(4) section. All Motion Sensing functions
can be turned off in the options menu.

Blocking Explained:

Nariko will automatically block if she is not attacking and she is
in the correct stance. When an enemy attacks he has a colored aura.

! Blue Attacks are blocked in Speed(L1) Stance
! Orange Attacks are blocked in Power(R1) Stance
! Red Attacks are unblockable

Got It!!!!!

Countering Explained:

When Nariko successfully blocks an attack she can counter-attack.
Press Triangle as the block is made and Nariko will counter-attack.
If the timing is perfect then Nariko's counter will kill the enemy.

4. Combos

Here is how this section works. I will list the stance. Following
that will be the combos of each stance. If there is an X next to the
name of th combo it means that that move is a block breaker. F means
you must be falling from the sky to do the move. L means after you
land hit the following button to complete the combo. Understood?

5. Superstyles

To do a Superstyle you need the required level of Superstyle. Look at
the sundial by your health bar. Each circle represents a Superstyle level.
There are three Superstyle levels and tons of moves I will break this
down a bit diffrently. I will list each level followed by all the moves.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Level 1 Superstyles:

Gentle Seduction / Circle

Level 2 Superstyles

Compassion / Circle

Level 3 Superstyles

Whirling Passion / Circle

Here are some great fighting tips.

Thanks to Malcom90k

Strategies

The standard enemies don't put up much of a defense, and can be dispatched
with simple combos. However, shielded enemies are a bigger problem. As you
will undoubtedly notice, they can block quite a few of your attacks. To rectify
this, perform a guard-breaker combo to open them up to attack. These are
indicated in the combat list, some pretty good examples (under speed style) are
[],[],[],/\
/\,[],/\

Both of these can quickly break down an opponents guard. After performing the
last hit of the combo, you will notice them stagger back. This is your
opportunity to get some hits in, so immediately follow up with another combo.
If at some point you decide to throw an object at an opponent, you can pick
it up with the X button. Press X again to throw it, or hold down X to center
the camera behind the object, at which point you can steer with the Sixaxis.

Combos

Combos are explained in the game simply by accessing the list. However, there
is more here than meets the eye. For instance, if you roll while attacking
(during or right after the attack), and press either [] or /\ (doesn't matter)
as you stand, you will perform a unique attack. To test this, with speed style
simply press [], flick the right analog stick right after pressing it, and ,
press [] or /\ as you stand. There's a separate unique attack for each style.
For speed style, it is a thrusting kick that can knock an opponent a little
into the air. For power style, it is an upward swing of the sword (Nariko will
perform a small hop while doing it), knocking opponents away. For range style,
Nariko will leap and spin the roped-blades around her in a big circle. There
are more opportunities here. You can interject combos with one style, with
an attack from another. There are two attacks than can be performed for each
style. It's easiest to explain this with examples.

(Speed style) [],[],[] (press R1 for power style) []

(Power style) [],[] (release R1 for speed style) []

It doesn't matter how many slashes of a combo precede it, as long as you don't
try to finish a combo, and then press a different style. Further, the attacks
differ depending on what button you press. If you interrupt a combo with R1+[]
(like in the above example) you will finish with with a big horizontal slash
of the sword. If you press R1+/\, Nariko will perform a big under and over
slash with the sword. If you interrupt a power or range style combo with a
speed attack (by releasing R1 or L1), for [], Nariko will leap and perform a
flipping slash with both blades. If you interrupt it with /\, Nariko will
perform a powerful leaping kick. If you interrupt a combo with L1+[], Nariko
will perform the leaping circle spin, like the above rolling attack. If you
interrupt a combo with L1+/\, Nariko will flip sideways and spin the roped
blades in a big vertical circle (this will actually knock enemies into the
air). I'll list a few more examples to give you an idea of the possibilities.

[], L1+/\
L1+[], L1+[] (release L1), /\
R1+/\, R1+/\, L1+/\

Aerial combos

Aerial combos are, to be quite frank, a bit more of a pain in the ass than
I feel they really need to be. To perform one, press L1+/\, then shake the
Sixaxis to leap up into the air with your enemy. From here, you can simply
follow the combo list to perform different attacks. The problem here is the
game has poor auto-targeting, and considering how narrow a vertical swing of
the range blades is, you've really got to be lined up with your opponent to
hit them. On top of that, if you are attacked right after knocking an opponent
into the air (which is almost guaranteed to happen if you haven't singled the
enemy out), shake all you like, you will not pursue the enemy with an aerial
combo. Fortunately, there is a bit more depth here than the game lets on.
On top of simply press L1+/\, as mentioned in the above combo section, you
can interrupt any combo or attack (other than a finisher) and press L1+/\,
and it will knock the opponent into the air. This means you can start an
aerial combo any time during a ground combo, other than a range combo. For
example:

(speed style) [], [], [], L1+/\, *shake Sixaxis*, perform aerial combo of your
choice
(power style) R1+[], R1+[], L1+/\, *shake Sixaxis*, perform aerial combo of
your choice

Defense (continued)

It seems Nariko has another defensive move in her repertoire, one that is more
counteractive than defensive. While Nariko will auto-block attacks, if you are
in the midst of a combo, or are hit with a guard-breaking attack (without
blocking with Power stance), you may get knocked into the air. If this happens
, quickly shake the Sixaxis. Nariko will use her chained-range blades to grab
hold the enemy, using the leverage to both catch herself and spin the enemy
around, leaving them dazed. This is especially useful on enemies with shields
, as it leaves them vulnerable to a follow up combo. Honestly, this is easier
to pull off if you turn off the Sixaxis (aftershock) controls, if you do so,
you need merely press X when knocked into the air to perform the counter.

Combos (continued)

Stumbled upon this almost entirely by accident. Nariko has a distance/direction
-based move that is used to quickly close the distance (and deal damage) to an
enemy. To perform it, there has to be a certain amount of room between you and
the enemy (just out of striking range of the speed style blades should do it).
Then you must flick the analog stick towards the enemy, and press either [] or
/\. The move is different depending on what you press, and the style you use.
Interestingly enough, there is no "distance-closing" move for the range blades
, only speed and power style, so there are 4 distance-closing moves total.
They are:

(Speed style) Flick analog stick towards enemy+[]
Nariko will spin around, quickly closing the distance between herself and the
enemy before ending with a slash.

(Speed style) Flick analog stick towards enemy+/\
Nariko will leap towards the enemy, flipping quickly through the air before
landing and slashing with the blade.

(Power style) Flick analog stick towards enemy+R1+[]
Nariko will turn around and flip over backwards, planting the sword in the
ground as leverage, and using the momentum to deliver a powerful slash.
(this one looks really cool)

(Power style) Flick analog stick towards enemy+R1+/\
Nariko will make a big, dramatic leap into the air before performing wide-
landing sweep of the blade (also quite cool)

The nice thing about these is that they cancel quickly, you can follow them
immediately with a combo of any style, and you can even interrupt combos by
flicking the analog stick towards a different enemy (example: [],[], flick
analog stick towards enemy standing behind Nariko+[]). If you just want to see
them, at the end of the demo, before the axe-men appear, go stand at the big
doors, and flick the analog stick towards them while pressing [] or /\. Nariko
seems to detect the enemies behind the door, and thus will perform the moves
at your leisure.

6. Unlockables

Throughout each mission a bar will slowly fill up on the bottom of the screen.
The more combos you pull off without getting hit , the quicker the bar will
fill up. Each time you fill the bar up 1/3 of the way you will unlock either
artwork, combos , or videos. Superstyle moves , countering , blocking and
throwing objects are great ways too fill this bar up. There are 3 unlockables
per mission. A great way too build the bar up is by launching a dead body at
all the remaining enemies. I do this a lot.

5. Walkthrough

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh hell yeah, this is what your lookin for. Enough of the bullshit , it's
time to crack some skulls... err , mash some buttons. Whatever you get the
damn idea. So without further a do , I present to you , the GREATEST guide
ever written and viewed * Gets smacked *

You : Tell me how to beat the damn game
Me : Oh , sorry

Here we go

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Demo Mission

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As your watching the opening scene it is hard not to be mezmerized by Nariko
, I mean the graphics , yeah the graphics. Apparently Nariko wants revenge
so let's go bring justice. When you get control I highly reccomend pushing
buttons and trying out combos and all that good stuff so you have an idea
of how the game plays before you jump into action. I like the power stance
mixed in with a bit of range. I don't like speed very much. Anyway , whenever
you are ready go around to your left to the rope and hit Cross for a ...

                       --- Button Sequence ---

If you've played the God of War games , Resident Evil 4 , and Spiderman 3
, you should be very skilled with these. For those that don't know what in Gods
name i'm talking about , listen up. A button Sequence is a way of testing your
reflexes. A button will come on the screen and you must quickly react and
enter the desired button. I will list all the button sequences. Here it goes.

                         Repeatedly Tap Cross
                         Left Joystick Right
                         Repeatedly Tap Cross
                         Left Joystick Left
                         Repeatedly Tap Cross
                         Square

Explanation:

1. Nariko will run extremely fast on the rope that the guards are destroying
2. She will jump left and right between the two ropes )
3. She finishes it off by kicking the guard on her way down too the platform
from the now destroyed rope.

                      --- End Button Sequence ---

Now that's how you knock someone out. Anyway it's time for your first fight.
It's pretty easy , just practice mashing Square+R1 mixed in with sprinkles
of Range. Power them away , then Range them with Triangle X5. It's up to you
if you want to try out Superstyle here. If your low on health ( if you are I
will smack you ) then use Superstyle. Once they are all dead cut the rope for a

                       --- Button Sequnce ---

                         Repeatedly Tap Cross

1. Nariko will run and jump off the collapsing platform to the next enemy
infested platform.

                       --- End Button Sequence ---

More fighting , get used to it. Here is a good chance to try out a kick ass
level 3 Superstyle move. This is also a good chance to practice throwing
objects at the enemies. See the controls section for more information on this.
I honestly don't see the point though. The attacks seem rather weak and boring.
Just hack and slash some more. Once everyone is dead some big dudes will bust
in and ...............

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Final Battle : Difficulty : 0/10

This is the most epic start to a game I have ever seen in my entire life.
There is literally about 1000 enemies on the screen. Just go nuts. If this
isn't even the full potential of the PS3 then we are in for one hell of a
system. Anyway , just fight til a scene occurs. It is impossible to die.
You can do some awesome shit here. Press Circle whenever you are prompted too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before we start Chapter 1 I want to list a few tips and the Longsword controls.

1. I encourage you too turn off ALL the SIXAXIS controls. They honestly just
complicate some parts of the game. Do this in the options menu.

2. Square , Triangle ,remember it, it's your only blockbreaker combo.

3. You don't have the Heavenly Sword yet. Be patient.

4. Longsword Combos

If there is an X next to the name of th combo it means that that move is a
block breaker. F means you must be falling from the sky to do the move. L
means after you land hit the following button to complete the combo.

Somersault Kick Square X3
Reverse Slash Square Square Triangle
Ten Footed Kick X Square Triangle
Crescent Kick Triangle X3
Spiral Blade Triangle Square Triangle

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 1:

1. The Art of Battle : Difficulty : .5/10

After the flashbacks you will be quickly be thrown into battle. Go around
to the ladder and use Cross to climb it. Make your way to the battlefield.
Practice the Ten Footed kick, it is easily your best move. Follow it up with
your choice of combo. This is basically a tutorial level. It is very easy. The
enemies barely attack.

2. Nightwatch : Difficulty : W/ SIXAXIS 5/10 , W/out SIXAXIS 3/10

This is your first level as Kai and your first Aftertouch level. This will
be a major pain in the ass if you have SIXAXIS controls on. It is still a
pain in the ass without SIXAXIS. Basically , you have to stop the enemies
from breaking into the fort by shooting them down. Use Aftertouch by holding
down Square. This will simplify things. Your main goal is just too survive.
I believe there are 25 guards. They start from the north, then northwest ,
then southwest , southeast , and finally from every direction. Don't worry if
you miss some, you will finish off the ones that infiltrated with Nariko.

3. Dawn Siege : Difficulty : W/ SIXAXIS 4/10 W/out SIXAXIS 2/10

Once the level starts go up the ladder on the left side. You can go up the
damn ladder quick as hell and this dumbass guy will still rush you. Anyway
climb up the next ladder. Holy shit , you get to use a cannon. I was not
expecting that. The control scheme is the same as Kai's level. You have to
kill the other cannons first. You will see 3 orange circles. Use aftertouch
and hit each one. After hitting all 3 you will notice another orange spot.
Destroy this one to completely destroy the cannon. There are 4 cannns. Destroy
all of them. You have a genourous 3 minute time limit. Now you will have the
task of killing 700 enemies with this badass cannon. It is simple. Aim at
the top for about 150 kills. When there are about 2 minutes aim at the bottom.
Holy shit , they are bringing the heat. Just mash the shit out of Square and
you will get about 500 kills in 1 minute. Told you it was easy.

4.Escape : Difficulty: 1/10

Follow the snow path taking out the guards. There are only about 3 waves and
none of the enemies are hard yet. They don't really even block yet. Just go
crazy. You will be introduced too health pots in this mission. If you can't
figure out what they do please just smack yourself and pretend I did it.
Continue forward and

5.Forest Ambush : Difficulty : 2/10

What a way to kick off a level. An ambush of jackasses. This isn't hard at all.
Use the Ten Footed Kick to break blocks and follow up with your combo of choice.
Eventually you will come across what looks like a steering wheel for boats. Mash
Cross by it to open up the near by gate. Kick some more ass and you will come
across your first

After the mini-scene with possibly the biggest idiot in the history of games
, you wuill have to find a way too open the gate. My dog can probably figure
this out , but I will explain it anyway. On the left side is a box of arrows

Hell yeah , we got the baddest sword on the damn planet. There isn't much
to explain here. Do whatever the tutorial tells you to do. This game is like
an interactive movie at times. I love it. After this mission you will see that
King Bohan is a major kick ass villian.
