Teams ============ All 120 Division 1-A (FBS) Schools are featured in this game. There are also about 8 FCS Teams, but they can only be played in Dynasty and Road to Glory Modes. Each team has their own Playbook and run one of eight offensive schemes. The different offensive schemes are Air Raid, Option, Spread, Multiple, Pro, One Back, Pistol, and Run and Shoot. The letter grades provided for each team are taken from the Preseason Polls in the first season of Dynasty Mode. The number values for Overall, Offense, and Defense are taken from the Team Select portion of Dynasty. The number values help to determine which team has the advantage in the Overall, Offense, and Defense categories. Special Teams values are not provided. The Stars represent the school's prestige level. The more Stars, the more prestigious the school is the easier it is to recruit better players in Dynasty Mode. Dynasty Mode =================== In Dynasty Mode, you can take your favorite schools through seasons and seasons, coaching them about as long as Joe Paterno has been at the helm of Penn State. Starting Out ------------ When you first start a new Dynasty Mode, you will first need to choose your team. You are able to choose from all 120 Division 1-A programs. Whatever team you choose as your favorite team will be the team that first pops up. You can control up to 12 different schools at once, but you will only be able to earn Dynasty Mode-related Trophies if you control only one school. Once you choose your first school, you will be taken to the Dynasty Settings menu. To add more teams, scroll down to the User Team(s) option and press the X button. You will be able to add up to 11 programs to the one you have already selected to control. Also at the Settings Menu, you can import one of your TeamBuilder schools that you created. You can also move teams around in Custom Conferences, for those who may want to turn the Big Ten into the Big 12. Once you are ready, you can start your Dynasty. Preseason --------- Here you can get started on Recruiting, and play with the roster for the upcoming season. When you first try Recruiting, and this will happen every Preseason, you will be asked if you would like to create any recruits yourself. If you choose not to, you can skip to choosing the players you wish to start recruiting. The middle option on the far left side once you start Recruiting is Team Overview. It will tell you what positions you will need to fill by next season and how many players you need at that position. It is always a good idea to at least try and recruit one or two players at those positions. Now, to start looking at recruits. This is where Prestige comes into play. Each school has a Prestige level from 1 to 6, 6 being the best. The better your school's Prestige, the better chances you have of landing better recruits. For example, USC has a better chance of landing 5-Star recruits than Washington, and in bigger numbers. If your school has a Prestige of 5 or 6 Stars, you will find plenty of recruits on the ESPNU 150 list. Usually, this list will be comprised of only 4- and 5-Star recruits. When looking at recruits to add to your Board, look for recruits who have a green circle next to their rank. Any recruit with a green circle means that they have at least some interest in playing for you. Underneath their personal stats (Name, Position, Hometown), will be the Top 3 school that player is interested in. If you see your school's name on his Top 3 list, you should add them to your Board. Your Board can only have 35 names on it at any time, so choose wisely. Any open spots on the Recruit Board will be filled automatically once the season starts. You can also set your Depth Chart so that the players you want starting do start. You can also Redshirt players on the Preseason Menu. Before you start the season, you can also look at your schedule and change it around anyway you like. The only parts of your schedule that you can change are the out-of-conference games (Unless your Independent and have no Conference). For the out-of-conference games, you can change the opponent you play that week, where you play, and which week you face them. Any school that is scheduled to play a school from Division 1-AA (FCS), will face one of the FCS schools from the same region. All games against FCS schools will be Home games for your team. Once everything is the way you want it to be, go ahead start the Season Regular Season -------------- Each week, you can play the game for that week (Provided it isn't a bye week), work on recruiting, look at who's in the running for the Heisman, and keep up on the Top 25. Recruiting players has changed compared to NCAA 10. When you call players, you will be able to choose how long you wish to talk with them. It can range from a 10-minute, one topic call to a 60-minute, six topic call. However, choose the recruits you wish to call and the time spent on the call wisely; you are only allowed 10 hours each week. If you advance to the next week without doing recruiting, the computer will do the recruiting for you, as long as it is set that way. Once you make it through the Regular Season, it is time for the Bowl Games To be eligible to play in a Bowl game, you need to win at least 6 games. The more games you win, the better Bowl game you get into. There are 34 Bowl Games, including the BCS National Championship Game. You are able to play each and every Bowl game, even if your team isn't in it. Under the ESPN headline, there is an option to see all the Bowl Games. If you play and win all 34 Games, you will receive the "Treasure Hunter" Trophy. You don't have to play the entire game, you can Super Sim to the 4th Quarter, play as the team that is winning, and as long as that team wins, you will get credit for the win. As long as you are rewarded with the Bowl Trophy, it will count. After playing in the Bowl Games, you will be asked about your job as coach. If you performed well, you may be granted an extension. If you didn't perform to the expectations set at the beginning of the season, you may not be asked about an extension. Other schools can also offer you the coaching job at their school Off-Season ---------- When you first advance to the Off-Season, your first task is to deal with are players who are leaving. All the Seniors will graduate and can't be brought back. Juniors and Sophomores who try to leave will either go to the Pro Draft or Transfer to another school. You can send anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes persuading them to stay. You will only have 10 hours max to work with, but you shouldn't have too many who try to go Pro or Transfer. If a player chooses to leave, there is nothing else you can do to convince to stay. If a player says that he hasn't made up his mind yet, you can spend more time with him to convince him to stay. If you can convince a Junior or Sophomore with an overall of 95 or higher to stay, you will receive the Trophy "Don't Call It a Comeback". After dealing with players who are leaving, you will be able to see any players who want to transfer to your school. After processing Transfer Requests, you will then have 6 weeks to convince recruits to come to your school. Just like recruiting in the Regular Season, you will have 10 hours to work with each week. You will also have the amount of scholarships remaining that you did at the end of the Season. After the 6th week, you will arrive at Signing Day, where you can review the recruits that committed to your school. You can also see how your school's draft class ranked among all the other schools. After Signing Day, you will be allowed to change your player's positions. If you still have any open positions, try to fill them using players from positions where there are plenty of back-ups. You will then be able to view Training Results and see which players got better over the Off-Season. Then you will have to cut players, only if you have more than 70 players on your roster. If you don't, you don't need to cut anyone. If you do, it is recommended to cut players with lower overalls from positions with a few back-ups. Once you are down to 70 players, you can advance to the Preseason. ========================= NCAA4. Road To Glory Mode ========================= In Road To Glory, you can take one player through his entire college career. Throughout his career, ESPN analyst Erin Andrews will chronicle your Superstar's highlights in the Road To Glory segment. Choosing the Superstar ---------------------- You can either choose to be a current college player, or you can create your own Superstar. If you choose to be a current player, you will become that player at that point in his career (If he is a Junior, you will play his Junior and Senior year). If you choose to create your own Superstar, you will be able to choose who he is, where he is from, and everything else about him. You will then enter the State Playoffs in your home state. If you do well in each game, your own Prestige will increase. If you win the State Playoffs and do well in each game, you will most likely be a 5-Star recruit. You will then need to choose which school you want to go to. Each school listed will tell you where you rank on their Depth Chart should you go to their school. Freshman Year ------------- Now that you have chosen your school, it is time for the Regular Season. If the school you chose made you their Starter from the beginning, you don't need to worry about participating in Practice. If you aren't the Starter, you will need to do well in Practice to move up the Depth Chart. Each Practice session is 10 plays long. After you have earned enough points to become the Starter, you can stop participating in Practice. Once you have the Starting role, you can't lose it. For the Evening Event, you can choose from Going to the Library, Hitting the Gym, Visiting the Trainer, or Studying your Playbook. It is advised to Go to the Library once or twice a week, because if your GPA drops below 2.0, you won't be able to play. You can check your GPA by going to My Career and scrolling down to Academics In each game, the coach will call all the plays. You will only participate in plays that your Superstar is in. If you don't like the play, you can press the Triangle button to skip the play. The better you do in each game, the more Legend Points you will earn. Legend Points help you advance up your school's, Conference's, and the NCAA's Leaderboards. The amount of Legend Points you need to crack your school's and Conference's Leaderboards depend on the position you play and the Conference you play in. Once your player reaches the end of his Junior year, you can choose to go Pro or stay for your Senior year. ======================= NCAA5. PS3 Trophies =================== There are 51 Trophies available in this game. Bronze Trophies (34) -------------------- 1. Mix It Up: Rush for 100 yards in a game with a team that runs an Air Raid offense (excludes co-op) Choose any team you want, as long as the offensive playbook uses an Air Raid style. Just focus on running the ball until you have 100 total yards. After that, you can Super Sim to the end of the game. This Trophy won't unlock until the end of the game 2. Throw 'Em a Curveball: Throw for 300 yards in one game using an Option offense (excludes co-op) Choose any team you want, as long as the offensive playbook uses an Option style. Focus on passing until you have 300 total yards. After that, you can Super Sim to the end of the game. This Trophy won't unlock until the end of the game 3. There He Goes...: Break a run for 50 yards or more in a Play Now or Dynasty Mode game (excludes co-op) You will have to be on your side of the 50-yard line. Call a run play that runs to the outside for a better chance. You can also earn this Trophy in Road To Glory Mode 4. Take a Stab Downfield: Complete a pass for 50 or more yards in a Play Now or Dynasty Mode game (excluding co-op) You will have to be on your side of the 50-yard line. Call a pass play that sends one or two receivers deep downfield. You can also earn this Trophy in Road To Glory Mode 5. Formation Sub Success: Score a touchdown with a player being subbed in using Formation Subs (excludes co-op) While in-game, press Start and go to Formation Subs, under Depth Chart. Switch in one of your players and use him to score a touchdown. For a better chance, wait until you are inside your opponent's 5-yard line and use it on the Goal Line set 6. 1st Option For 6: Score a touchdown handing off to the fullback on a triple option play (excludes co-op) Teams that use an Option or Spread offensive style are more likely to have a Triple Option. Wait until you are inside your opponent's 5-yard line. To hand off to the Fullback, hold the X button after snapping the ball 7. Speed Reader: Score a touchdown on a QB Choice run play (excludes co-op) A QB Choice play is any play where the QB decides whether to hand the ball off or keep it himself. On these plays, the back he can hand to will have a yellow route. Have the QB keep the ball and score and the Trophy will pop-up after the play 8. Draw Me a Touchdown: Score a touchdown running a draw play on 3rd and 6+ yards (excludes co-op) Teams that use a One Back set probably have a better chance at this Trophy. Wait until you are inside your opponent's red zone and have a 3rd and long situation. Find any draw play and score to unlock this Trophy 9. Hero: Score a touchdown as time expires to win the game (excludes co-op) Play with teams that are evenly matched and try to keep the game as close as possible. Let the opponent take the lead near the end of the third or beginning of the fourth quarter. Eat up the rest of the clock driving towards the end zone. Get down inside their 5-yard line and let time wind down until there is about 1 or 2 seconds left and call timeout. Score on the final play to take the lead and this Trophy 10. Balanced Attack: Gain 200 rushing yards and 200 passing yards in the same game (excludes co-op and Road to Glory) These do not have to be with same player (which would be the QB). To make it easier, focus mainly on running for one half and passing for the other 11. The D Is For...: Hold the opposition to under 100 total yards in a Play Now or Dynasty Mode game (excludes co-op) The easiest way is to set each quarter to be only 1 minute long. This does include Punt and Kick Return yards, not just rushing and passing/receiving yards. If you don't want them returning the ball, just kick it out of bounds. The penalty yards awarded for Illegal Procedure will not count towards the 100 yards 12. Red Zone Perfection: Complete a Play Now or Dynasty Mode game with a Red Zone Efficiency rating of 100% (excludes co-op) Every time you get within your opponent's 20-yard line, you need to score. It doesn't matter whether you score a touchdown or kick a field goal, you just need to score 13. Red Zone Shutout: Complete a Play now or Dynasty Mode game without allowing a TD from the Red Zone (excludes co-op) The easiest way to get this is use a powerhouse school, like Alabama or USC, and play a terrible school, like Eastern Michigan or Western Kentucky. If your opponent does happen to kick a field goal from inside the Red Zone, that is fine, they just can't score a touchdown 14. Lock It Up: With Player Lock on, return an interception for a TD (excludes co-op) The best chance of getting this Trophy is right before halftime. If your opponent has the ball and there are about 10 seconds left before halftime, the game will usually suggest using the Prevent defense. Choose one of your Safeties or Cornerbacks and lock him by pressing the L3 button before the ball is snapped. Get an interception with the player you are locked as and return it for 6 points and this Trophy 15. In Your Crosshairs: Spotlight a receiver and get an interception on him in a Play Now or Dynasty game (excludes co-op) To Spotlight a receiver, hold the L2 button and press that receiver's icon. If the quarterback throws to that receiver and your player comes up with an interception, you will get this Trophy 16. Veteran: Win a game by 35+ points on Heisman difficulty Heisman is the toughest difficulty. The easiest way is to choose a school like Alabama and play a school like Eastern Michigan. You could also change difficulty during Dynasty Mode whenever you play one of the FCS schools 17. Best Class Ever: Have the #1 ranked recruiting class in a season in single team Dynasty Mode. You will want to choose a 6-Star school to be to have about any chance at getting this Trophy. The better you perform during the season will also affect how the recruits feel about coming to your school. If you have the #1 class at Signing Day, this Trophy will pop-up by the time you reach the Preseason 18. Point Some Fingers: In a single phone call, take 250 points away from one school by downplaying pitches An easy way to get this Trophy is to try and recruit a 1-Star players who isn't considering your school. Spend 60 minutes with the recruit and just downplay pitches. By the end of the call, you should have taken away 250 points 19. One Hit Wonder: Get an instant commit from a prospect by offering a scholarship on a one topic call Look at your Recruiting Board and find a recruit that that has you as their 1st choice and spend 10 minutes with them. Offer them a scholarship during the call, and if they commit, you will get this Trophy 20. Switcheroo: Secure a commitment from a prospect that was a soft commit elsewhere The easiest way to get this Trophy is to go after a 1- or 2-Star prospect that is a soft commit somewhere. Spend 60 minutes with him and downplay the pitches for the first 50 minutes and then offer a scholarship. He will most likely choose to come to your school 21. Program Changer: Sign a 5-star QB or HB with a 2-star prestige school in a single team Dynasty (no ATH) For being a Bronze Trophy, this one is pretty hard to actually get. Your best bet is to probably create a bunch of 5-Star QBs and HBs from your school's hometown and hope that one of them chooses to come to your school 22. Setup Shop In the Big 3: In a single team Dynasty, develop new pipelines in Texas, California, and Florida Choose a team that isn't from one of those three. Also, teams like Michigan that already have all three as pipeline states won't work either. Find a team like Notre Dame that already has 2 as pipeline states and focus on recruiting players from the third state 23. Burn That Shirt: Remove the redshirt from a player in a game, and earn player of the game status with that player Pick a team that has a QB or HB that hasn't be redshirted before.
