This time, instead of being confined to a half-destroyed Planetcracker, Isaac must fight his way through an entire space station, called The Sprawl/Titan Station, full of necromorphs. To help make this challenge a little easier Visceral has not only given Isaac new weapons to play with, but also given him several different types of Suits which all allow him to enhance various weapons or equipments. This guide will detail each Suit and weapon, explaining the bonuses, primary and secondary uses, as well as strategies and usefulness. Here's a quick overview of how each item will be explained: Suit Template: [Suit Title] - [Bonus 1]/[Bonus 2] [Minimum Inventory Space] [Minimum Armor Rating] [Appearance] [Suit Cost] [Usefulness] [Where You Find It] Weapon Template: [Weapon Name] - [Bonus 1]/[Bonus 2] [Primary Fire Description] [Secondary Fire Description] [Maximum Stack Size] [Ammo Cost] [Upgrade Statistics] [Total Nodes Needed for Full Upgrade] [Appearance] [Cost] [Usefulness] DLC Weapon Template: [Weapon Name] - [Bonus 1]/[Bonus 2] [Cost] [Usefulness] [Location] [DLC Pack] Regular Item Template: [Item Name] [Effect] [Cost] [Usefulness] [Schematic Location] Ammunition Template: [Ammo Name] [Stack Size] [Store Cost] [Drop Amount] [Schematic Location] ----------- !IMPORTANT! ----------- This guide is incomplete currently! If you know any tips, tricks, or missing information, e-mail it to me at [email protected] and I'll stick it in here and give you credit! Thanks! ----------- !IMPORTANT! ----------- ---------------------------------------- Standard Suits [SRIG] ---------------------------------------- 1.1 [ESUI] Engineering Suit - No bonuses Inventory Space: 10 Slots Armor: 5% Appearance: Looks like Isaac's Suit from the original Dead Space Suit Cost: 1000 Credits Usefulness: Well, it's better than your straight jacket, but worse than everything else. Swap as soon as you can. Location: It's on a couch, right next to the first store. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.2 [SSUI] Security Suit - The Pulse Rifle will do 5% more damage Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 10% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 20,000 Credits Usefulness: A good upgrade from the Engineering Suit, the Security Suit gives you more inventory spaces and more armor. In addition, if you're fond of the Pulse Rifle, this will give you a nice damage boost! Location: Chapter 4 in the Church of Unitology. Right after you make it through a malfunctioning door, you have to crawl through a vent. Before going through the vent, turn around and it will be on a shelf. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.3 [VSUI] Vintage Suit - Items at the store cost 10% fewer credits Inventory Space: 20 Armor: 15 Appearance: It looks a bit like a diver's suit. Isaac has bulkier leg armor, an air tank on his back, and his helmet is larger than usual. A nice retro look. Suit Cost: 40,000 Credits Usefulness: The Vintage Suit is great for getting the extra inventory space and armor when it first appears in the shop. However, since it offers no combat benefits, you should only wear it when you plan to do any shopping, and then immediately switch back to a more combat-oriented suit. Location: The Vintage Suit schematic appears in chapter 8, behind a node door ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.4 [ASUI] Advanced Suit - Stasis recharge time is decreased by 50% Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 20% Appearance: This is the armor that appears in all the promos, all the videos, and is the titular armor Visceral has been showing off since they announced Dead Space 2. It has a sleek, futuristic look. Suit Cost: -Coming Soon- Usefulness: This is one of the best suits in the game, and certainly the best standard suit. As you move into the later chapters, stasis becomes more and more necessary, and the 50% reduction on the charge time saves a lot of time, stasis packs, and money. Location: Found in chapter 11, behind a node door. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- Elite Suits [ERIG] ---------------------------------------- Elite Suits are upgrades of the Standard Suits you got on your first run-through. Available only on New Game+, these suits will give Isaac a larger lead on his numerous opponents. 2.1 [EESU] (Credit goes to darkfromallside for the cost) Elite Engineering Suit - 15% More health recovered when using a medpack Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: It looks exactly the same as Isaac's engineering suit, except it has bright yellow armor pieces. Suit Cost: 14,000 Credits Usefulness: This suit is great for general use on higher difficulties, because you burn through fewer medpacks. Especially early in the game, when stasis isn't a necessity, this suit can help you save both medpacks and money. Location: On a couch in the room with the first store in chapter 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.2 [RSSU] Riot Security Suit - 10% extra damage to the Contact Beam Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: Jet black armor pieces, and a RIOT symbol on an arm guard. Olive green skin suit. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you use the Contact Beam AT ALL, this is the suit for you. Providing a whopping 10% damage increase to the weapon that sports the highest damage in the game means you'll be bringing the pain. As an added benefit, the damage bonus applies to the primary AND secondary fire. Location: First store (possibly any store?) How to Obtain: Find it at the first store ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.3 [EVSU] Elite Vintage Suit - Items at the store cost 15% fewer credits Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 50,000 Credits Usefulness: By the time you get this, the only reason you'll need it is for increasing the bang you'll get for your buck. Similar to the regular Vintage Suit, put it on for buying, take it off when you leave the store. Location: Chapter 6, when you fight the first Brute in the transit hub. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.4 [ELSS] Elite Security Suit - Javelin Gun does 15% extra damage Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: -Coming Soon- Usefulness: While I was never fond of the Javelin gun myself, if you find yourself impaling a lot of necromorphs, I'd give this suit a go. Location: Chapter 9, right after the tram ride. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.5 [EASU] Elite Advanced Suit - 10% bonus damage to all weapons, 15% increase to stasis duration Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: Black armor with purple skin suit highlights. Very sexy. Suit Cost: 50,000 Credits Usefulness: Great for just about any situation. Lets slow down things for longer, deal things more damage, and look good while doing it. Location: Chapter 11, right after the large elevator, over a railing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.5 [ASSU] (Credit for this suit's information goes to scarletdeath) Arctic Security Suit - 10% bonus damage to Flamethrower Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: White and gray camo armor pieces with a white skinsuit. You're ready to take on Palin's Alaska with this thing. Go find Russia. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you just gotta burn everything you see, better equip this suit Location: Any store after beating Zealot Mode ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.5 [SOSU] (Credit for this suit's information goes to scarletdeath) Soldier Suit - 10% bonus damage to Seeker Rifle Inventory Space: 25 Slots Armor: 25% Appearance: Forest camo armor pieces with dark olive skin suit. GO ARMY. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: For the few and the proud who swear by the Seeker Rifle, this will give you a greater edge. For everyone else, just use something else Location: Any store after beating Hardcore Mode (needs final confirmation) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- Downloadable Content Suits [DRIG] ---------------------------------------- Similar to the original Dead Space, Visceral offers a few downloadable content packs that provide the player with some different armors and weapons. Each armor is just a little bit different, though, which lets the player pick something that complements the weapon the love. 3.1 [FESU] Forged Engineering Suit - 15% Extra health recovered when using a medpack Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: It looks like Isaac's standard Engineering Suit, except it has white armor pieces, an olive green skin suit, and a CEC armband. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: Just as useful as the Elite Engineering Suit, and I think it looks better. Note the lower armor rating and inventory space, though. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Super Nova DLC pack Downloadable Content Pack: Super Nova Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.2 [HVSU] Heavy-Duty Vintage Suit - 5% extra damage for the Line Gun, Detonator, Contact Beam Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: Almost identical to the Vintage Suit, except it's not brown. It has whiter armor pieces, and a green-ish skin suit. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you use at least 2 of the weapons this suit gives bonuses to, then it's well worth equipping. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Super Nova DLC pack Downloadable Content Pack: Super Nova Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.3 [AASU] Agility Advanced Suit - 10% increase to the duration of stasis Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: It looks identical to the Advanced Suit, except it has a red and white color scheme instead of a blue, dark blue, and yellow color scheme. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you find yourself wishing stasis lasted longer, use this suit. Otherwise use any other suit. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Super Nova DLC pack Downloadable Content Pack: Super Nova Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.4 [ESSU] EarthGov Security Suit - 5% extra for the Detonator, Seeker Rifle, Pulse Rifle Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you use at least 2 of the weapons this suit gives bonuses to, then it's well worth equipping. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Martial Law DLC pack Downloadable Content Pack: Martial Law Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.5 [BVSU] Bloody Vintage Suit - 5% extra damage for the Flamethrower, Javelin Gun, Force Gun Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you use at least 2 of the weapons this suit gives bonuses to, then it's well worth equipping. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Martial Law DLC pack Downloadable Content Pack: Martial Law Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.6 [HSUI] Hazard Suit - 5% increase to the duration of stasis Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: If you find yourself wishing stasis lasted longer, use this suit. Otherwise use any other suit. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Occupational Hazard DLC Pack Downloadable Content Pack: Occupational Hazard Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.7 [TSUI] Triage Suit - 10% extra health recovered when using a medpack Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: Similar to the Elite Engineering Suit, the Triage Suit helps you save medpacks and money. A good general bonus. Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Occupational Hazard DLC Pack Downloadable Content Pack: Occupational Hazard Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.8 [SHSU] Shockpoint Suit - 5% reduction in stasis recharge time Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: -Coming Soon- Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: Possibly one of the worst suits in the game. A very minimal reduction in stasis recharge time helps you hardly at all. You'd be much better off equipping just about suit but the standard Engineering Suit Location: Any store after you purchase, download, and install the Occupational Hazard DLC Pack Downloadable Content Pack: Occupational Hazard Pack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- Promotional Suits [PRIG] ---------------------------------------- If you pre-ordered the game, beat certain people in online multiplayer, or do various other tasks, you can get one of the few promotional suits. 4.1 [ZSUI] Zealot Suit - 5% bonus damage for the Force Gun Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: Looks similar to the Advanced Suit and the Security Suit, but with a red and dark gray color scheme and white Unitology markings. Suit Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: As a starting suit, the Zealot Suit is one of the best. Since it was packaged with a Force Gun (which is also free) the damage boost can really give the player a head start during the early chapters. It also has increased inventory space and armor than the Engineering Suit Location: Any store How to Obtain: You must have pre-ordered the game, or obtained a promotional code from someone who pre-ordered the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.2 [HASU] Hack Suit - Hacking requires one less stage to complete Inventory Space: 15 Slots Armor: 15% Appearance: A more casual suit, Isaac has exposed skin, only a few pieces of armor, and looks more like a civilian. Suit Cost: 20,000 Credits Usefulness: While the benefit of this suit can be nice, I never found myself frustrated by the hacking mini-game to want this suit. Seeing as it costs a fair amount of money and no combat bonuses, I would advise against this suit unless you just HATE the hacking games. *MINOR SPOILERS* One good reason to get the hacking suit is to use its specialty to avoid a significant fight in the Government Sector. At the beginning of the area, you must hack a terminal to open a large door. If you have this suit, you can do it fast enough to avoid the second (and larger) round of necromorphs. I did not devise this strategy, I saw it posted somewhere on the boards. First person to provide me with more accurate details gets credit for this. *END MINOR SPOILERS* Location: In the Conduit Room before the train sequence How to Obtain: You must have completed Dead Space: Ignition in order to unlock the room that contains this suit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.3 [PGSU] Prima Games Security Suit - MULTIPLAYER ONLY Inventory Space: N/A Armor: N/A Appearance: It looks similar to the Military Suit from the original Dead Space. It is basically a white Security Suit. Suit Cost: N/A Usefulness: Look different, just like everyone else! Location: N/A How to Obtain: Kill someone in Dead Space 2 Online Multiplayer who has the Prima Games Security Suit already. Prima Guide Employees will be the initial batch to have the suit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- Standard Weapons [SWEP] ---------------------------------------- Throughout Dead Space 2 Isaac is going to encounter an honest to God horde of undead, mutated abominations. They will come at you in various sized groups, that sometimes consist of several different types of enemies. To help Isaac dispatch these menaces, he has a wide variety of weapons at his disposal, allowing him to strategically pick weapons and find a suitable combination. 5.1 [PCWP] Plasma Cutter - No Bonuses Primary Fire: the Plasma Cutter fires a fast traveling beam of energy. The beam has a small width, so it hits an area, but must still be aimed precisely for optimal results. Secondary Fire: Rotates the firing pattern 90 degrees (horizontal to vertical) Ammo Stack: Plasma Energy has a maximum stack size of 25 Ammo Cost: 6 Plasma Energy costs 1,200 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (2 points each) -Capacity: 5 Expansions (2 points each) -Reload: 2 Expansions (-.25 seconds each) -Speed: 2 Expansions (-.2 seconds each) -Alt-Fire: N/A -Special: 1 Expansion (sets enemies on fire) Total Nodes Needed: 19 Power Nodes Appearance: About the size of a handgun, the Plasma Cutter has a business end designed to rotate. Cost: 0 Credits Usefulness: The Plasma Cutter is one of the most basic and useful weapons in the entire Dead Space franchise. It is powerful, quick, has a good clip size, and even has a special that sets enemies on fire for a brief period of time. It also allows for precision shots on both arms and legs, making it a good all-around weapon. Location: You get this as part of a story event. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.2 [LGWP] Line Gun Primary Fire: the Line Gun's primary fire is essentially a long-range shotgun; the wide beam of energy it fires travels until it hits something, and does significant damage to any enemy. Secondary Fire: the Line Gun's secondary shoots out a mine that explodes after a certain amount of time. You could say it becomes a MINE Gun (okay, I won't ever do that again). The mine does significant damage to any enemies in its radius. Ammo Stack: Line Gun Racks have a maximum stack size of 6 Ammo Cost: 2 Line Gun Racks cost 2,000 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (3 points each) -Capacity: 4 Expansions (1 points each) -Reload: 2 Expansions (-.15 seconds each) -Width: 2 Expansions (.5 increase to width) -Alt-Fire: 6 Expansions (Increases damage of Alt-Fire) -Duration: 1 Expansion (shortens the timer on the Alt-Fire) Total Nodes Needed: 24 Power Nodes Appearance: When not being aimed, the Line Gun looks like a high-tech box with a handle. When Isaac aims it, the front of the weapon expands to about 2 times the width of the holstered size. Cost: 9,000 Credits Usefulness: The Line Gun is extremely useful throughout the entire game. It starts as a more powerful Plasma Cutter, and once upgraded it becomes a juggernaut that can take down multiple enemies at once. It has a slower rate of fire than the Plasma Cutter, but still fires fast enough to make it an excellent crowd control device. A few shots at any necromorph's legs will cripple them, allowing you to focus on other enemies. Location: -Coming Soon- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.3 [PRWP] Pulse Rifle Primary Fire: the Pulse Rifle's primary fire is a full-auto barrage of bullets. While it lacks the width of both the Plasma Cutter and the Line Gun, the Pulse Rifle's primary fire does decent damage and causes Necromorph's to flinch. Secondary Fire: the Pulse Rifle's secondary fire expends 25 ammunition to fire a high-powered grenade that travels in an arc. Ammo Stack: Pulse Rounds have a maximum stack size of 100 Ammo Cost: 25 Pulse Rounds cost 1,250 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (1 point each) -Capacity: 5 Expansions (25 points each) -Reload: 2 Expansions (-.2 seconds each) -Speed: N/A -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases Damage of Alt-Fire) -Special: N/A Total Nodes Needed: 22 Power Nodes Appearance: When holstered, the weapon looks like a cylinder. When aimed, the Pulse Rifle extends, and cocks. Cost: 7,000 Credits Usefulness: The Pulse Rifle has been greatly enhanced for Dead Space 2. In the original game it was useful only against bosses, or once fully upgraded. The new secondary fire grenade changes this. Not only does the weapon retain decent damage output, but the grenade allows for the player to instantly deal massive amounts of damage to multiple enemies. The grenade will kill a lot of enemies, and knock down anything that survives. The primary fire also causes necromorphs to flinch, halting them in their tracks. Since this weapon is full-auto, and has a huge clip, this means you can stun-lock your enemies. A very decent weapon, especially when upgraded. Location: Chapter 3, back corner of the room after surviving the train ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.4 [FGWP] Force Gun Primary Fire: the primary fire for the Force Gun is a large, short-range area attack that will deal significant damage to anything at super close range, as well as knocking down anything caught in the blast. Secondary Fire: the secondary fire of the Force Gun is a long-range shot that deals significant damage. It has a brief charge up time before it fires, so make sure you have some space. Ammo Stack: Force Energy has a maximum stack size of 15 Ammo Cost: 3 Force Energy can be purchased for 900 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 5 Expansions (3 points each) -Capacity: 5 Expansions (2 points each) -Reload: 2 Expansions (-.25 seconds each) -Speed: 2 Expansions (-.2 seconds each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases Damage of Alt-Fire) -Special: N/A Total Nodes Needed: 24 Power Nodes Appearance: Looks a bit like a propane tank with a handle. Cost: 11,000 Credits Usefulness: The Force Gun (more like Force FUN) is a very versatile weapon that deals massive amounts of damage, can attack short and long range very effectively, and has cheap ammo. Once upgraded, it can one shot a lot of weaker necromorphs at even medium range, and is one of the more effective weapons against the Leaper. It has a decent rate of fire and reload time, as well, and it has a wide area of effect. One of the best weapons in the game, in my opinion. Location: Chapter 7, after completing the elevator fight, on the left after you exit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.5 [CBWP] Contact Beam Primary Fire: after a moderate charge up time the Contact Beam fires a precise high-powered laser that is capable of decimating even the most powerful enemies. Secondary Fire: after a short animation, the Contact Beam knocks down and damages enemies in a radius. Ammo Stack: Contact Energy has a maximum stack size of 6 Ammo Cost: 2 Contact Energy costs 4,000 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: N/A -Capacity: 3 Expansions (1 point each) -Reload: 5 Expansions (-.25 seconds each) -Charge: 2 Expansions (-.2 seconds each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases Damage of Alt-Fire) -Special: 1 Expansion (Enemies hit with alt-fire have stasis applied to them) Total Nodes Needed: 23 Power Nodes Appearance: -Coming Soon- Cost: 9,000 Credits Usefulness: The Contact Beam is the most powerful weapon in the game, hands down. It does require a charge up time, but if you can master the timing, this weapon can one shot just about every enemy. The few downsides include rare and expensive ammo, no spread fire on the primary fire, and a charge up time. Location: Chapter 7, in the node door after the mainframe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.6 [RPWP] Ripper Primary Fire: the Ripper fires a rotating saw blade a short distance from the gun, and keeps it hovering there. The blade will damage any enemy that comes in contact with it, and cause them to stagger. Secondary Fire: fires a saw blade out at high-velocity. If a blade is currently hovering via primary fire it will fire that blade in the direction Isaac is aiming until it hits something. Ammo Stack: Ripper Blades have a maximum stack size of 15 Ammo Cost: 4 Ripper Blades cost 1,350 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (2 points each) -Capacity: 4 Expansions (2 points each) -Reload: 2 Expansions (-.2 seconds each) -Duration: 2 Expansions (2 points each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases damage of Alt-Fire) Total Nodes Needed: 22 Power Nodes Appearance: The Ripper has looks like a power-saw on a handle. Cost: 8,000 Credits Usefulness: The Ripper is a decent weapon that does good damage to all enemies. It can easily kill weaker/smaller enemies, and causes stronger ones to flinch, allowing you to keep hitting them. The largest downside to the Ripper is that if an enemy gets between you in the blade, there's nothing you can do against them. In addition, if you get damaged while you have a blade hovering, it will cause the blade to disappear (it won't even fire off). Location: Chapter 5, in the chamber where you disable gravity. It's along the side, on a box. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.7 [FTWP] Flamethrower Primary Fire: the Flamethrower emits a continuous stream of fire, and ignites enemies. Secondary Fire: fires off a canister of fuel that explodes for splash damage, and ignites enemies. Expends 25 fuel. Ammo Stack: Flame Fuel has a maximum stack size of 150 Ammo Cost: 25 Flame Fuel costs 1,000 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 2 Expansions (4 points each) -Capacity: 5 Expansions (25 points each) -Reload: 3 Expansions (-.15 seconds each) -Duration: 2 Expansions (5 points each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases the damage of Alt-Fire) Total Nodes Needed: 24 Power Nodes Appearance: A red-propane tank on a handle. Cost: 11,000 Credits Usefulness: The Flamethrower has been greatly enhanced for Dead Space 2. It can now fire in vacuums, which means it never loses functionality, and its secondary fire is similar to the Pulse Rifle's, giving it some nice burst damage. It's also been said that it stuns enemies if upgraded enough. Location: Chapter 6, in a class room after the stage fight ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.8 [SRWP] Seeker Rifle Primary Fire: the Seeker Rifle fires a super-precise, high-powered round where Isaac is aiming. Secondary Fire: The camera zooms in. Ammo Stack: Seeker Rounds have a maximum stack size of 15 Ammo Cost: 5 Seeker Rounds cost 1,000 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (5 points each) -Capacity: 3 Expansions (1 points each) -Reload: 3 Expansions (-.15 seconds each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases damage while looking through scope) Total Nodes Needed: 27 Power Nodes Appearance: It looks like a futuristic sniper rifle. Cost: 11,000 Credits Usefulness: The Seeker Rifle is essentially a super-accurate, longer-range Line Gun. The zoom functionality is mostly useless, due to the fact enemies tend to get close fairly quickly. A decent weapon, but it is more overshadowed by more useful and powerful weapons. Location: Chapter 6, after the laundry room save point, it's past a door on a balcony ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.9 [DTWP] Detonator Primary Fire: launches a proximity mine a short distance from Isaac. It will explode when something comes near it, or if it comes into contact with an enemy during its time in the air. Secondary Fire: disarms all mines so they can be picked up. Ammo Stack: Detonator Mines have a maximum stack size of 10 Ammo Cost: 3 Detonator Mines cost 1,200 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (2.5 points each) -Capacity: 4 Expansions (1 points each) -Reload: 3 Expansions (-.15 seconds each) -Special: 1 Expansion (Increases splash damage radius) Total Nodes Needed: 20 Power Nodes Appearance: -Coming Soon- Cost: 8,000 Credits Usefulness: The Detonator is a powerful weapon that allows players to deal significant damage to groups of enemy, protect himself through area denial, and conserve ammo by picking up un-detonated mines. Since the mines will detonate on contact, it can be used as a grenade launcher of sorts. A good support weapon. Location: Chapter 5, after the elevator ambush, look for it next to the save point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.10 [JGWP] Javelin Gun Primary Fire: fires a high-velocity, high damage spear. If it kills an enemy it will cause them to fly with the spear until it hits a wall or the ground. Secondary Fire: electrifies the most recently fired spear, causing electricity to arc out and damage anything in a small radius around the sphere...including Isaac. Ammo Stack: Javelin Spears have a maximum stack size of 10 Ammo Cost: 2 Javelin Spears cost 400 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (12.5 points each) -Capacity: 5 Expansions (1 points each) -Reload: 2 Expansions (-.25 seconds each) -Speed: 2 Expansions (-.2 seconds each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases damage of Alt-Fire) -Special: 1 Expansion (adds an explosive effect to Alt-Fire) Total Nodes Needed: 24 Power Nodes Appearance: -Coming Soon- Cost: 11,000 Credits Usefulness: The Javelin Gun can be effective both against single enemies and groups of enemies. However, it is a difficult weapon to wield for a few reasons: first, if you miss with the primary fire you are pretty vulnerable, because of the Javelin Gun's slow rate of fire; second, the Javelin Gun has a very bizarre and node consuming upgrade path; and third, by the end of the game it is not as effective unless it has been upgraded. While great fun, and capable of helping deal with groups, it gets overshadowed by easier to use and more powerful weapons. Location: -Coming Soon- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.11 [RGWP] Rivet Gun Primary Fire: fires a quick bolt. Full-auto. Secondary Fire: detonates any bolts that have been fired, causing them to ricochet around the room. Can hurt Isaac. Ammo Stack: Rivet Bolts have a maximum stack size of 30 Ammo Cost: 10 Rivet Bolts cost 750 credits Upgrade Stats: -Damage: 4 Expansions (2 points each) -Capacity: 4 Expansions (2 points each) -Reload: 4 Expansions (-.15 seconds each) -Speed: 1 Expansions (-.5 seconds each) -Alt-Fire: 4 Expansions (Increases damage of Alt-Fire) Total Nodes Needed: 25 Power Nodes Appearance: -Coming Soon- Cost: -Coming Soon- Usefulness: The Rivet Gun is a semi-auto pistol that fires charged bolts at a decent rate of fire. If you plug a Necromorph with several bolts, and then detonate the bolts, it will most likely kill the enemy and possibly hurt another one. This gun is extremely weak unless it is upgraded, for a few reasons: 1) it's initial damage is rather low; 2) it's inital alt-fire power is rather weak; 3) in order to do significant damage with the alt-fire you need a fair amount of bolts on screen. Without capacity upgrades, it's hard to use the alt-fire well unless you reload between firing and activating the alt-fire; 4) it has no spread for the primary fire. If you upgrade the Rivet Gun, it can make an effective secondary weapon, and it has cheap ammo. However, almost every other gun is better than it, so only use it to have some fun with a new gun. No extra uses. Location: Any store How to Obtain: Have a Dead Space save file on your hard drive ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- Regular Items [ITEM] ---------------------------------------- While Isaac is pretty formidable with just a suit and a gun, he'd be hard-pressed to make it through the game without any other items. Here's what they all are. 8.1 [SMPA] Small Medpack Effect: Heals Isaac for a small amount (relative to maximum health) Cost: 2,000 credits Usefulness: These medpacks will be your bread and butter throughout any difficulty runthrough. They heal about 1 bar of health, and are fairly abundant on the lower difficulties. Schematic Location: -Coming Soon- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.2 [MMPA] Medium Medpack Effect: Heals Isaac for a moderate amount (relative to maximum health) Cost: 5,000 credits Usefulness: Once you get to about chapter 5 or 6, these medpacks will start becoming more and more useful. They heal about 2 - 3 bars of health, so you'll most likely use them after larger, tougher fights. Schematic Location: Chapter 5, after you ascend through the coffin transporter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.3 [LMPA] Large Medpack Effect: Heals Isaac for a large amount (relative to maximum health) Cost: 9,000 credits Usefulness: These medpacks will be your last resort. They recover so much health that you won't want to use one of these unless you just have no other option. Usually will restore Isaac to full health, or very close to full health. Fairly rare to find, and expensive. Schematic Location: Chapter 8, same room you meet up with Ellie and Stross in ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.4 [STPA] Stasis Pack Effect: Fully restores Isaac's stasis Cost: 2,500 credits Usefulness: Late in the game, stasis packs will be one of your best friends. Early in the game, they are easy money. Stasis packs are fairly abundant, so you should never need to buy one. Schematic Location: Chapter 2, on the train tracks behind Nicole ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.5 [PWND] Power Node Effect: Grants Isaac one Power Node Cost: 10,000 credits Usefulness: Depending on the difficulty you're playing on, you will either pick up a lot of these, or none at all. On easier difficulties, you'll be given plenty of ammo and health, so you can spend your extra money on Power Nodes, so you can make your weapons more powerful and increase your RIG and Stasis stats. On higher difficulties you probably won't grab many of these from the store because the 10,000 credits could go to much better use. Schematic Location: Behind the node door in chapter 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.6 [BRSC] Bronze Semi-Conductor Effect: A rare "electrical component" that you sell for money Sell Price: 1,000 credits Usefulness: I don't find Bronze Semi-Conductors that often, but when you do find them, the extra cash is nice. They're worth relatively little, though, so don't be afraid to drop them if you need to pick up a schematic or a more important item. Location: Dropped from stronger enemies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.6 [GDSC] Gold Semi-Conductor Effect: A moderately rare "electrical component" that you sell for money Sell Price: 3,000 credits Usefulness: Gold Semi-Conductors will drop from a lot of more minor strong enemies, such as Guardians, and will provide a steady source of income. They are frequent enough to rely on them for a quick boost of cash if you find yourself running dry mid-way through a long sequence. Location: Dropped from stronger enemies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.6 [RBSC] Ruby Semi-Conductor Effect: A very rare "electrical component" that you sell for money Sell Price: 10,000 credits Usefulness: Ruby Semi-Conductors are fairly rare, but not nearly as rare as they were in the original Dead Space. On normal difficulty, I managed to find several of these. While not as frequent as the Gold Semi-Conductor, and thus not as reliable, you can count on finding at least a few of these throughout the game. Location: Dropped from stronger enemies, or found in Node Rooms or Conduit Rooms ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.6 [DISC] Diamond Semi-Conductor Effect: An extremely rare "electrical component" that you sell for money Sell Price: 25,000 credits Usefulness: Throughout all of Dead Space 2, you will find maybe 2 Diamond Semi-Conductors, and for good reason. These items will instantly net you a staggering amount of money, allowing you to restock ammo and health packs, and/or grab a few nodes. Location: Rarely dropped from important strong enemies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- Ammunition [AMMO] ---------------------------------------- In order to use his weapons, Isaac needs ammo. While necromorphs do drop ammo here, there, and everywhere, Isaac is also going to want to be able to purchase ammo. To do that, he'll need the schematics! Drop amounts are based on normal difficulty. Harder difficulties will get less rounds in each drop, but not less drops. 9.1 [PCAM] Plasma Energy Stack Size: 25 Store Cost: 1,200 credits for 6 energy Drop Amount: 6 rounds Schematic Location: -Coming Soon- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9.2 [LGAM] Line Racks Stack Size: 6 Store Cost: 2,000 credits for 2 racks Drop Amount: 2 rounds Schematic Location: Chapter 5, after falling through a vent, go to the dead end in the next room. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9.3 [PRAM] Pulse Rounds Stack Size: 100 Store Cost: 1,250 credits for 25 rounds Drop Amount: 25 rounds Schematic Location: After you meet Ellie for the first time, keep going past the elevator alcove.
