My sim wont stop scolding my pet

My sim wont stop scolding my pet

I recently got this game just a few weeks ago. Any time I create a sim and pet, my sim will do nothing but try to scold my pet. Constantly. The pet is literally lying in it's bed. So there's no reason for it to scold. I deleted her, made a new sim, same problem. I turned the freewill off to make them best friends and then turned it back on and watched as she consecutively scolded until they were all in red again. She doesn't even like when the cat checks her out or sniffs her. I can't play a sim game without freewill on because a bunch of sims standing around like zombies until you control them isn't very realistic. Or fun. I loved the regular sims 3, but this is so aggravating. So what can I do? Do I just sell the game?
