It has the Why Do This, General Help, Guide (now Instructions), Random Statements, and Other Stuff sections (hopefully) complete. v 1.1 I added supercheats.com to the accepted websites list and fixed the elite enemy in Valley of Avalar (thanks to Vermillion). v 1.2 Found an error in Valley of Avalar armor section (thanks to Mryan) and corrected it. v 1.3 Found a left/right confusion error in the Ruins of Warfang magic gems section (thanks to Ian G.) and corrected it. v 2.0 I added the first half of the Full Walkthrough section of the guide. v 2.1 Fixed the elite enemy of the Ruins of Warfang (thanks to Patrick F.). I did not know that they could have three weaknesses. v 2.2 Found an error in the items layout of the Catacombs (thanks to Natalie G.). I will hopefully have the rest of the walkthrough up soon. v 3.0 After months of slacking and procrastination, I finished Guide, added Story So Far, Controls, Extras, and Enemies v 3.1 Fixed the mess-up in the Floating Islands level of the guide (thanks to Julian M.). It turns out that I had left out a gem in the first area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /------------\ | STORY SO FAR | \------------/ This game is the sequel to The Legend of Spyro: the Eternal Night. At the end of Spyros last adventure, he had finally found Cynder at the Mountain of Malefor after chasing her down through the entire world. During the fight with Gaul, the Ape King, Spyro was infused with all of the powers of the Dark Lord himself. Though Spyro was powerful, he could not control the sudden surge of the Dark Lords power, unleashing it and bringing down the whole mountain. Cynder managed to knock some sense into him and bring him back to himself, but it was to late. To save himself, Cynder, and Sparx, he used his own power to encase the three of them in a gigantic orange crystal. They have remained there ever since. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /--------\ | CONTROLS | \--------/ Like the name says, the controls of the game. *Note: These are the controls for the PS2/3 version. In Dawn of the Dragon, there are many more types of enemies. SMALL ENEMY Small grublin, low health, low damage. Very annoying due to numbers. Not very hard to get rid of, but there are usually a lot of them. No specific moves to look out for. First appearance in The Catacombs. Elite in The Catacombs. SMALL FLYING ENEMY A grublin with wings! Yay! Same as the small enemy, only more annoying. Dont bother grabbing this guy, because another one will hit you while you are hitting it. First appearance in Twilight Falls. Elite in Twilight Falls. SHIELDED ENEMY A skeleton-looking guy with a sword and a shield. Use lightning to break the shield, then just hit him. In order to grab him, he must be knocked into the air. Look out for his attack where he begins launching many small crystals at you (dodge roll away and wait for him to stop). First appearance in Twilight Falls. Elite in Floating Islands. LARGE FLYING ENEMY A serpent-looking flying enemy. Nothing special, just more health. Look out for his attack where he launches a bunch of sonic waves at you (just keep rolling). First appearance in Valley of Avalar. Elite in Floating Islands. AXEMAN Another skeleton guy, this time with no shield and a big axe. Same health as a shielded enemy. Can be disarmed. Look out for his attack where he recoils for a second, because he will jump at you with his axe and it can hit you in the air (dodge roll). Needs to be knocked into the air to be grabbed. First appearance in Valley of Avalar. Elite in Valley of Avalar. GHOST These are the ghosts of the apes you fought in New Beginning and Eternal Night, punished by Malefor for not being truly loyal. They are not very hard to kill, but there are always a LOT of them. Best way to kill these is grab and spin to kill a bunch at the same time. First appearance in Valley of Avalar. No elite. CROSSBOWMAN Tall guy with a ranged attack. Very annoying because he stands back and can jump away from you if you get close. Look out for his attack where he jumps into the air and fires a bunch of electric balls at you (dodge roll). First appearance in Dragon City. Elite in The Dam. LARGE UNSHIELDED ENEMY Big huge buff guy. Lots of health, lots of damage. Usually comes with few or no other enemies. Look out when he twists away from you because he is about to come spinning along the ground at you (as always, dodge roll). First appearance in Dragon City. Elite in Ruins of Warfang. LARGE SHIELDED ENEMY Big guy with a mace and a shield (lightning breaks the shield). Can be disarmed with lightning. Pretty much, dodge roll away from every attack that he does. First appearance in The Dam. Elite in Burned Lands. CHAIN LOCKS These only appear in the Floating Islands and are more of a hindrance than an enemy. They fire out small things everywhere and if you are close enough to one when it activates, it grabs the chain between you and the other player, preventing you from going a certain distance away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /------------\ | GENERAL HELP | \------------/ This section is for the special things in the game like shadow doors and braziers. In this section, I will also explain the layout of the elite enemy help and interactible cutscenes. LEVERS/WHEELS/CHESTS These are exactly what they say. To open them, both players (sometimes only one for certain levers) must go up to them and press circle to grab on. Then, both players must press square like crazy to pull up or down, turn, or open the object. ADAMANTINE ORBS The orbs are small glowing balls found around the world. They are used to hold down switches, but they are very heavy, limiting your flight and only allowing you to fly a small distance above the ground. To pick them up, walk over to them and press circle, and to drop them, do any kind of attacking (melee or magic). VINES These are solid walls of vines that block your path. To destroy them, simply shoot them with Spyro's fire or Cynder's poison. SHADOW DOORS These are doors that you can see through but can't open. What you need to do to open these doors is use Cynder's cloak of shadows to go under the curved thing at the bottom of the door. From there, there should be a lever in the room somewhere. BRAZIERS These are the bins that have dragon heads on either side of them. To use these, simply use Spyro's fire breath on them until they explode into flames. HORNS These look like giant French horns (one of these is in the first level). To use them, simply use Cynder's wind breath until something happens. ROCK WALLS These are gigantic walls or floors of rock that are impassible. To break them, simply ram or swing into them with Spyro's earth boulder. TUNING FORKS These are metal objects coming out of the ground that react to sound and operate something when they spin. To spin them, shoot Cynder's fear at them. LIGHTNING SYMBOLS These are small indentions in the walls with decorations around them. To use them, shoot Spyro's lightning at them until they are full (you will stop shooting automatically once they are). ELITE ENEMY GUIDE As I will explain later, there are eight elite enemies throughout the world. In the collectibles guide, I have descriptions of each enemy. First, I will tell you where they are. Then, I tell you what they are the elite of and what their weakness is. Elite enemies have an impenetrable shield when you first attack them. Their weakness is what element will break this shield. However, once their shield is broken, the element does not do any more damage than it would normally. Then, I will tell you what attacks to watch out for and specifically avoid. After that, I will tell you the best strategy to use against them. Finally, I will tell you if there are any nearby gems to keep you alive. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENES Many times through the game, there will be a cutscene where you have to press certain button or button combination to proceed. These are used many times during the actual face-to-face bosses and at other random times throughout the game. If you do not react fast enough, or if you hit the wrong button, you will fail at the cutscene and either die, or, if it's a boss, you will be sent back to the beginning of that section and the boss will have as much health as he did then. To pass at the interactible cutscene, simply press the correct button indicated fast enough at the right time. Sometimes the button will only have to be pressed by one character or it might have to be pressed multiple times. These will be indicated if they are present. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- | | |---- /---- | | ----- |--\ |---- | | | | / | | | | \ | | |-----| |-- | --- | | | | | |-- | | | | \ / \ / | | / | | | | |---- \--/ --- ----- |--/ |---- This is a full guide for the entire game. All directions are relative to the position that the camera is. This guide also shows where to get all of the special collectibles. This section is for someone who is stuck in general in the actual game. **PLEASE NOTICE: For those of you who do not want the story ruined, I vowed to a friend not to have any spoilers. If there is a cutscene, I simply put *cutscene* but do not tell anything that happens in it.** CATACOMBS --------- Armor: None Health Gems: 1 Magic Gems: 1 Spirit Gems: 10 Elite Enemies: 1 ---------------- *cutscene* You start out in a circular arena magically chained to a staple in the middle. Kill all of the enemies, and you will see a bridge collapse. More enemies will show up, so kill all of them. A gigantic monster will show up in the arena and start smashing the ground. Go up to the staple in the middle and pull it out of the ground. Next, go up to the golem and start hitting his hand. He has two attacks at this point: he will either hit the ground where his hand is or hit there and then swing and hit the other side of the arena (the swing will hit you if you are flying). Just keep hitting his hand and he will eventually pull it back, releasing gems to restore your health and give you a little bit of experience. At this point, dodge roll because he is about to hit right where you are standing, and then he will hit the other front corner, and in the middle at the back. Repeat this three times. *cutscene* After this cutscene, you end up in a hallway. Follow this hallway to the right and jump/fly along the platforms here. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> once you get to the last platform, all you do is once the golem tears away the platform you are standing on, press X to jump back to it. The monster then smashes you through a hole in the wall into another hallway. There is a save point nearby if you need to save. Follow the hallway farther through to reach a platform with a green gem in the middle. *cutscene* After the cutscene, break the gem. The gem will respawn after time. You now have your elemental attacks. Once either player has full mana, enemies will show up. It is four waves of many small enemies. Kill all of them, then fly up the revealed staircase to some vines. Use either Spyro's fire or Cynder's poison to break these vines, go through, and break the blue spirit crystal(1). From here, go back to the wall on the right of the entrance and pull the lever here. Go back to the left of where the spirit crystal was and pick up the orb here. Go up all of the platforms to the right until you get to another wide area. Use Spyro's lightning breath on the symbol on the right wall. This extends a platform higher up. Climb the platforms to the right, turn around, jump across the platforms to the other wall, and drop the orb. Fly towards the camera to a platform with a special health gem(1). Fly back to where you dropped the orb, pick it up, and fly across the higher platforms to the right. Drop the orb on the switch to open the door, and Spyro and Cynder will automatically go through it. Turn to the right and fall of the edge here to a spirit gem(2). Turn away from the door and follow these platforms on the side of the wall to get to a special magic gem(1). Fly back up to the main area and fly to the back corner and up on top of the platform to get a spirit gem(3). Go over to the lever on the side of the lake and pull it down to turn the pillar. Fly back to the pillar near the door and climb the vines. Fly to the pillar that you turned and climb the vines on the side. The camera will turn to show you another pillar. Fly to this and climb the vines on the side of it. Fly over the platform above the previous pillar and to the pillar against the wall. Break the spirit gem here(4). Turn to the pillar in the corner and fly to it, using the vines to climb up the side, and break the spirit gem here(5). Fly along the wall to the right. The golem shows up again and breaks the pillar that you used to get here. Use the vines to the right (or just fly) across to another platform, use the vines here to go up to the platform above, and use the vines to the left to go all the way to the left to another spirit gem(6). Use the same vines to go back across to the right to another platform. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> once you get on this platform, the golem will swing at you. Press X to dodge the punch, and the golem will get his hand stuck in the wall. *cutscene* Destroy the dark crystal in the golem's severed hand and the entire hand will explode. Continue onward to the platform that Hunter was on and get the spirit gem here(7). Fly back down to the lake and go to the area where the golem was standing to find a spirit gem(8) and another one on the other side of the lake (9). Go to the far side of the lake on the other side of the waterfall to fight your first elite enemy. This is the elite of a small enemy and his weakness is always shadow. Try to stay close to this guy or else he'll shoot a lightning bolt at you that does half of your starting max health. The best strategy for him is to hit him until you see him spinning around in one spot, then grab him, jump, and keep pressing triangle. After killing him, fly back up to where you were before you jumped down and continue down the path. Once you get to a ledge, drop straight down and get the spirit gem here(10). Continue down the path to an area with a suspended horn. Go over to the wall near the staircase and begin to turn the wheel here. As you do, many small enemies will jump out of the ground. Kill them, and then two more waves will appear. After you kill them, continue turning the wheel to lower the horn. Use the horn to open the door. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> once the door is open, the golem will reappear and grab Cynder. The character playing Spyro must repeatedly press square to use the chain and pull Cynder out of the golem's hand. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ TWILIGHT FALLS -------------- Armor: 2 Health Gems: 1 Magic Gems: 2 Spirit Gems: 7 Elite Enemies: 1 ---------------- You start out flying through a cave. Fly all the way through the cave until you get out, then start trying to go to the right. When it lets you, drop down to find a spirit gem next to the river(1). Fly down to the bottom of the waterfall and go to the left right in front of it to find a spirit gem(2). Fly forward down the river to find a locked save point. Kill all of the enemies that appear to unlock it and make it available for use. There is also a spirit gem next to the save point(3). Fly across the river and kill the enemies here. Continue down the path to find a vine wall on the right. Kill them and follow this small path to find a spirit gem(4). Fly back out of the path and across the river. Enemies will attack you once you get here. They are two waves of small flying enemies followed by a small shielded enemy (tip for the shield: lightning will break it along with anyone's shield, even the large enemies' shields). After you kill them, a spirit gem will come out of the ground(5) and you will be able to push over the log. Before you do, go away from the river from the battlefield and to the right, kill the vines here, and follow this path to get an armor piece. This is Spyro's offensive tail piece, which gives him increased attack speed. From here, leave the small path and go to the opposite side. There is a special green gem here surrounded by normal green and red gems(1). continue this way to find a spirit gem between two rock outcroppings against the wall(6). Fly up on top of the outcroppings and into the cave here to find a special magic gem(2). Fall off of this ledge and go into the wind tunnel to get to the elite enemy. He is the elite of the small flying enemies in this level. His weakness is always earth. The best strategy for him is simply keep grabbing him, jumping, and pressing triangle. There are plenty of gems nearby if you are in trouble. After you kill him, open the chest on the edge of the cliff to get an armor piece(2). This is Cynder's defensive bracers, which give her regenerating health. Go back to the previous battlefield and push over the log to get to the other side of the river. Climb up the vines on the cliff and swing over to the right to get a special health gem(1). Swing back over to the left and get the other person on the vines here. Swing the other player to the vines up above and climb onto the cliff. To the right of Hunter is another spirit gem(7). Go up to Hunter and press circle to end the level. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ VALLEY OF AVALAR ---------------- Armor: 4 Health Gems: 3 Magic Gems: 3 Spirit Gems: 19 Elite Enemies: 1 ---------------- You start this level defending the village of the cheetahs. There are many houses that you must defend before the enemies destroy them. The enemies are two waves of small flying enemies, one wave of serpent dragons, and one mixed wave. Kill all of these before they destroy all of the houses. *cutscene* Now you are flying freely through the actual valley looking for a lost warrior named Meadow who disappeared before the battle. Before you do this, though, there are many things to collect in the valley. To begin, facing away from the village, go to the wall on the right of the village to find a spirit gem(1). There is a tree with a special health gem behind it across the river from the village(1). Continue down the river to the left to find some trees on the left side of the river with a spirit gem behind them(2). Continue farther down the river, but do not go into the cave in the cliff. Instead, go to the left of the cave and climb the vines here. In this area, there is a spirit gem at the back (3) and an armor piece to the left(1). This is Cynder's offensive bracers, which give her regenerating mana. Leave this area and begin down the valley on the right side. Climb the vines on the cliff to get to an elite enemy. This is the elite version of the axeman enemy. His weakness is either lightning or fear (thanks to Vermillion). Try not to go too far away from him or he will jump at you and slash, doing a lot of damage. The best strategy for this guy is simply stay near him and hit him and dodge roll away when he slashes. If you are close to him, don't worry when he does the jump slash because it will miss. Also, if you see him start to block, dodge roll away. Also in case you run out, there is a regenerating normal green gem nearby. There is a spirit gem at the back of the battlefield(4) and a path to a special health gem behind it(2). Leave the platform and continue down the valley in the same direction that you came. After a small distance, there will be a platform a small distance out from the wall with a spirit gem on it(5). Fly towards the middle of the valley from this platform to get to another platform with another spirit gem(6) and a special magic gem(1). Fly back to the previous platform, but this time on the ground next to the river to find a spirit gem(7). Continue down the valley to find another spirit gem back in the corner(8). Follow the wall to a platform and climb up some vines to get to a cave with another armor piece(2). This is Spyro's defensive helmet, which gives him increased defense. Continue down the valley past the waterfall to find another spirit gem behind some trees(9). Keep going down the valley to find a path to a locked gate. Do not go into this path, but go around it instead to find a platform with another spirit gem(10). Continue through the valley and look on your right as you do. There will be a small path through the trees to a spirit gem(11). Continue all the way to the end of the valley to find another spirit gem to the right side of the river(12). Kill all of the enemies here to unlock the save point. After that, begin going up the valley on the other side. You will find a vine climbing area that is currently useless after a short distance. Around the far corner of this is a small area behind some trees. Go into this and away from the river to find a normal magic gem, and go to the right of this to find a spirit gem(13). Continue out the other side of this area to find another spirit gem(14). After that, start back up the valley on the other side. There will be a spot where the river breaks off to the right. Follow this small tributary to find a spirit gem on the right side(15) and another on an elevated platform on the left(16). Go back to the main river and push over the log here (you can kill the enemies if you want to, but it is not required). From here, continue down the valley to find another spirit gem behind a mountain next to the village(17). Now to get back to the storyline. Go down the river to the cave mentioned earlier. This time go into the cave and to the very end. Once there, you get ambushed before you can save Meadow. It starts off with one axeman, then there are two axemen with some small flyers that have a limited number of reinforcements that come in when one of them dies. *cutscene* After the cutscene, the wall holding Meadow explodes, revealing a piece of armor(3). It is Cynder's defensive tail piece, which wounds all attacking enemies. Now you are looking for a sign on the wall to find a Hermit to get a key to open a door to get some weights to release a raft to get Meadow back to the village (I know, its a lot to remember). Go back to the spot where the river breaks off where you found spirit gems 15 and 16. The entrance to the Hermit's land is below the platform with spirit gem 16. Enter the area and go to the right along the river a short distance while looking to your left. You will see a cave in the left side of the valley. Go into this cave to find a spirit gem(18). Continue through this cave until you hit a wall, then turn to the left to find a special health gem(3). Exit the cave and go to the wall across from the original entrance to this area and climb the vines here. Continue through the upper levels of the valley until you reach a platform in a corner. Push over the log here to create a path to get back up in case you fall and also to reveal a set of vines to continue through the area. Do that and fall into the platform below. Some ape ghosts will come out and attack you. The easiest way to kill them is to grab one and start swinging him around. This will kill the enemy and all others around you due to their low health. Don't let them hit you because to make up for their low health, they do high damage. *cutscene* There is a spirit gem in the area where you fought the ghosts(19). After getting it, climb back up the vines to where you came from and wall run to the left to get to a special magic gem(2). Go back across the battlefield to a raised platform with a save point. Wall run to the right from this platform to the Hermit's house to find a piece of armor(4). This is Spyro's fury bracers, which give him increased fury power. From here, leave the Hermit's land and go to the path mentioned at spirit gem 10. Grab an orb and leave the path for the storage shed and continue straight in this direction over some small streams and around a bend. Climb up some vines here and along some upside-down vines to a switch. Drop the orb on the switch to open the gate to a special magic gem (3). Pick the orb back up and drop off the ledge. Fly along the river until you find a tilted dock leading up to the other side. Land on this and walk up to the shore. Follow the shore and cross the log you knocked over earlier. Go behind the trees to the previously useless vine climbing area. Climb along this to get to the other side of the ledge. Go over to the switches next to the raft and drop the orb on it. Repeat all of this to release the raft. Have one character grab on to the raft and the other fly down the river and pull the raft. After a distance, you will hit some fishing nets. Have the character on the raft jump off, go to the wheel near the nets, kill the enemies, and turn the wheel to retract the nets. Start pulling the raft again and you will hit some more nets. Do the same thing here that you did before, and pull the raft the rest of the way to Meadow's cave. *cutscene* After the cutscene you will appear in front of Hunter at the entrance to a tunnel. Go up to him and press circle to end the level. END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ DRAGON CITY ----------- Armor: 3 Health Gems: 3 Magic Gems: 2 Spirit Gems: 9 Elite Enemies: None ------------------- *cutscene* You start out with a burning building right in front of you. There are some manweersmalls trapped inside, and you are trying to save them. Don't worry when they tell you to hurry, because the building only explodes into bigger flames once you get to certain points of saving it, not after time. Start out by going away from the building to the right (left if the camera is towards the building). Go to the left through a gate after going down this path. Start turning the wheel here, and some enemies will show up behind you, including a new form of enemy: the crossbowman (name explains it all). Kill the enemies and finish turning the wheel to fill the pool with water. The building will explode and the flames will become higher, but do not panic. Now you need to find a bucket. Go back to the burning building and go in the other direction from the way that you went earlier and through another gate. Follow this path to find a gate and with a light behind it and a lever beside it. Pull down the lever to reveal the bucket. The building will now explode again and the flames will get even higher, but again, do not panic. Have both characters grab a bucket and fly back to the pool. Fly over it to fill the bucket with water, switch characters, and do it with the other one. Fly over to the building to drop the bucket of water onto it. Switch characters and do the same with the other. Go back and grab another bucket, but you only have to do it with one character this time. Drop the bucket of water on the building, and the fire will go out. *cutscene* Now it's time to get extra stuff. First, fly up to the top of the previously burning building to find a spirit gem(1). Fly to the left to an elevated platform and light the brazier in the corner up here. Go through the shadow door to get an armor piece(1). This is Cynder's offensive tail piece, which gives her increased attack speed. Drop down off of this platform and go through the shadow door to get a special health gem(1). Go back to the area with the wheel and go to the far wall. Climb the vines here to get to a horn. Use the horn to lower a platform with a brazier. Light the brazier and go into the door near the entrance to this area to get a special magic gem(1). Go back to the area where you found the bucket and go to the opposite side from the entrance to find a spirit gem(2). Go up the nearby platforms and light the brazier up here. Now that you have lit all three, go down to where you found spirit gem 2 and go through the now open gate to get a special health gem(2). Go back up the stairs to find a spirit gem(3). Continue up the stairs to a small room with some gems and a lever. Pull the lever to close the door you entered by and open the door to go ahead. *cutscene* Now you are trying to defend the catapult that is destroying the siege towers attacking the Dragon City. Don't worry about the catapult getting hit too much. Once the catapult gets down to half health, the screen will get a strong red tint, and once this happens, go to the hole to the left of the catapult. This acts just like a lever or wheel. Press square repeatedly to repair the catapult once you are here. Anyway, back to the level. To begin, go to the catapult and begin killing the small enemies here. Once you have killed enough, the artillery mole will tell you to reload for him. To do this, go to the lever that is towards the camera from the catapult and pull it down. Now a siege tower has made it to the city and is shooting at the catapult. Go all the way to the left to find the square where the siege tower has landed. Do not worry about the enemies that are here because no matter how many you kill, more jump in through the tower. Instead, go to the tower itself and destroy the dark gem here to blow up the entire tower. Once the tower is destroyed, another tower will shoot at the catapult and knock the mole out of his seat, then continue firing at the catapult. Go to where the first tower was and towards the camera to find the mole. The mole will then begin moving. Keep an eye on the catapult's health because that siege tower is still shooting it. Four times while you are escorting the mole back, enemies will be dropped on your position and will begin attacking you. Kill them and then continue protecting the mole. Once he gets back to the catapult, he will tell you to reload for him and then he will destroy the siege tower. *cutscene* Another siege tower has landed, but to the right of the catapult this time. Go destroy it and then the mole will tell you to reload for him again. *cutscene* The catapult is now under attack from the small guys again. Go kill them for a while and then two siege towers will pop up, one in each of the previous spots, at the same time. Go destroy both of them, then the mole will tell you to reload for him one last time. *cutscene* Yippee! You get to fight your first big unshielded enemy! But before you do, there are collectibles to get. First, go all the way to the right from the catapult and towards the camera to find a spirit gem(4). Then go to the siege tower platform on the right to find a special magic gem(2). Go to the tower platform on the left to find another special health gem(3). Fly down to where a tower collapsed after the last cutscene and fly out from the stairs a little then turn back to find a ledge with a spirit gem(5) and another accessible by vines above it(6). Fly across this area and into an empty area in the wall next to a high platform to find a spirit gem(7) and an armor piece(2). This is Spyro's offensive tail piece, which gives him increased melee attack damage. Now go to the wall to your left and climb the vines here to get to a really high platform. From here, fly back out the way you came to the lower platform. Climb the vines on the wall to the left to get to a platform above the battle. *cutscene* Don't worry about the big guy right now. Instead, go to the left to get to a ramp. The big guy can't get up here. Go through the shadow door to get a spirit gem(8). Now fight the big guy (he's not that hard if you can dodge roll well). Now the gate breaks open again and some small guys and some crossbowmen come in. An armor chest also appears in the middle of the area. Kill the guys as fast as you can so you will have enough time to open the chest(3). It is Cynder's fury helmet, which gives increased chance to combo. To continue, light the braziers on either side of the gate. Kill the enemies as fast as possible and then go up to the gate and help the moles to close it (it works like a lever). Once it is closed, the enemies will occasionally try to break it back open. To stop them, go up to the middle of the gate and use it like a lever whenever this happens. Keep doing this until the fires on each side of the gate reach the middle. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ ATTACK OF THE GOLEM ------------------- Armor: 1 Health Gems: 1 Magic Gems: 1 Spirit Gems: None Elite Enemies: None ------------------- You start out in an area with the golem in front facing away. Pay attention to his tail and learn its movements because he will smash and swing it over the battlefield. There are some waves of axemen that you have to kill. Once you have killed all of them, the pillar on the left will be able to be pushed over. Before you do, go to the right to find a health gem(1). Now go back and push over the pillar. *cutscene* Go forward until you get past a pillar on the left. Go around it to find a special magic gem(1). Continue into the next clearing. *cutscene* Now you have to survive against three (later four) axemen for a certain amount of time. You don't have to kill any if you don't want to (I think), and if you kill one another will just take his place, but killing them gets you experience to level up breaths. *cutscene* Go up the stairs and away from the camera to find an armor chest(1). This is Cynder's offensive helmet, which gives her increased elemental attack damage. If you have been following the whole guide, you should have Cynder's offensive armor set, which gives her poisonous hit (great for the 150 hit combo to unlock the enemies gallery). Continue through the hole in the wall. The golem will climb up the wall and destroy the pillars before blowing you away with a fire- type thing. Don't worry because this will not hurt you, only push you away. Go to the left and up the stairs (avoid the foot) to confront the golem. Stay in the middle of the area (don't fall off the back and don't go to the right) and wait for him to smack his hand down. Hit his hand like you did in the first level. Keep hitting his hand until he passes out, then fly or climb up to him and destroy the dark crystal in his jaw. *cutscene* He will now blow you away with the fire thing again. Now you have to be on the level that he passed out on for him to hit you. Once again, hit his hand until he passes out, fly up to him, and destroy the dark crystal in his other jaw. Now he climbs up higher than you can go. To get to him, go to the right of the upper level and climb the vines on the outside of the tower here to get to him. *cutscene* Now you are in the final arena, but not the final section of the battle. His attacks now are a smash to the left of the arena (avoid this because if you are close enough after a time, he will immediately smash again), a smash to the right (ignore due to unimportance), and a two-handed smash to the center. Each of his attacks send out a small sphere of fire-type material that will damage you if it touches you. Stay in the middle at the back of the arena and you will not get hit by anything. Whenever he does the two-handed smash, dodge roll through the sphere and start hitting his hands. When you have done enough damage, he will pass out again. Go up to his hand and press circle to grab on. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> The first thing he will do is quickly swing his hand to the left. Press X to grab back on. Next, he will swing his hand against the wall. Press square repeatedly to jump onto his wrist and avoid being smashed. Spyro and Cynder will then start running up his arm and jump onto his upper arm. He will try to smash you against his arm. Press X to jump to his shoulder, then press X again to jump to his head. Once here, press square repeatedly to smash open his head and expose his brain crystal. Spyro and Cynder will then jump down back to the ground. This section is the same as the last section except for the fact that he will launch a few fireballs out of his head with every attack. Most of these you don't have to worry about because if you stay where I told you, they will not hit you. The only attack you do have to worry about is his new one. He will now pull himself back and then launch a barrage of fireballs right where you are. To avoid it, simply dodge roll away, then go back to where you were. Continue hitting him when he does the two-handed smash until he passes out again. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> This is the same as the last one except that the last button delays a couple seconds and is triangle once instead of square repeatedly. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ RUINS OF WARFANG ---------------- Armor: 2 Health Gems: 3 Magic Gems: 3 Spirit Gems: 13 Elite Enemies: 1 ---------------- This level is divided up between 4 sections, two on each side, each path containing one of the four Crystal Reys required to open the door. First, before going down either path, go straight towards the camera down the thin strip of land to find two spirit gems(1&2). Go back to the gate and go to the left. GEM 1 Fly off the ledge and straight forward to another ledge in the corner. Fall off to the left of this platform to find a spirit gem(3). Fly to the left to find a vine wall. Climb up this, turn around, and fly off the edge to find another spirit gem(4). Fall back down, go farther to the left, and land on the long strip of rock to get yet another spirit gem(5). Fly around the left side of the giant rock to find a ledge with another spirit gem(6). Fly forward to a waterfall, climb up the vines here to find another spirit gem(7), and follow the path to find yet ANOTHER spirit gem(8). Go back down to the waterfall and up the vine wall to your left. Kill the ghosts here, then destroy the vines to find a special magic gem(1). Fly around the wall next to you to find a ledge with an armor piece(1). It is Cynder's defensive helmet, which gives her increased defense. Fly farther in this direction to find a wall behind two braziers. Light these braziers to reveal four more on the wall farther back. Go to this wall and have Cynder latch on, then have Spyro swing around shooting flames. This will lower the wall, revealing the first Crystal Rey. Go to it and a large unshielded enemy will attack you. Kill it, get the crystal, and a wind tunnel will open. Fly through it and drop the gem on the first dragon statue. The dragon will turn to the side and open another wind tunnel. EXTRA Fly back to the place with the Crystal Rey in the first area on the left to find the elite enemy. He is the elite of the large unshielded enemy and his weakness is either fire or poison or wind (three things...weird). Don't be intimidated by his size because he really isn't that hard. Watch out if he rears up on his legs because instead of just smashing, he can jump at you and smash if you are too far away. The best strategy here is to simply stay close and hit him, then dodge roll if he attacks. Don't let him hit you, because it will REALLY hurt. Also, there are some red and green crystals nearby if you need them. Once he is dead, fly back through the wind tunnel to the starting point. GEM 2 Fly through the wind tunnel to get to another area above the previous one. Go to the left here to find a bunch of ghosts. Kill them and continue to the left, ignoring the first shadow door and ground boards. Go to the second set of ground boards, switch to Cynder, equip shadow, and break through them. Fill up your magic from the gem and run towards the camera. The wall will start moving towards you (bad things) and there will be many shadow doors. Run through all of this to find a special health gem(1). Find your way back to the opening of the hole and continue forward. Go under the shadow door on this platform to find a special magic gem(2). Go back to the first shadow door, go through, and pull the lever. This will lower the hanging key. Have Cynder hook onto the bottom of it, then have Spyro use lightning on the lightning symbol, pulling in the wall segments. Immediately fly to the left to pull the key into the hole, which lowers the wall containing the Crystal Rey. Grab it to open the wind tunnel, then fly through the tunnel to get back to the beginning. GEM 3 This area is on the right this time. Fly to the right and down onto the small platform to find a spirit gem(9). Fly to the right to find another platform on the right of the main one with another spirit gem(10). Fly to the second platform and down in front of it (between it and the first one) to find another spirit gem(10). Fly even farther to the right to the third platform. Down in front of it is yet another platform with yet another spirit gem(12). Fly back to the first platform and begin turning the wheel, causing a bunch of ghosts to attack you. Stop turning the wheel, kill the ghosts, and finish turning. This lowers the pulling platform. Go back a little and grab the adamantine orb, then have that player grab onto the platform. Have the other player pull the platform along the path until the second rock. Once here, a ghost will come out and pull the lever, causing the wall to extend. Drop the orb, fly up to this area, kill the ghosts, pull down the lever, and continue on to the third platform. Get off the pulling platform and continue onward. Kill the ghosts here and drop the orb. Destroy the vines here and grab the special health gem(2). Switch to Cynder and equip fear. Use it on the turning forks on this side, fly across the river, and use it on the other side. Quickly fly back, pick up the orb, and run across. Drop the orb on the switch, lowering the wall containing the third Crystal Rey. Once it is lowered, a large unshielded enemy will jump out and grab the crystal. Kill it and take the crystal, opening another wind tunnel. Fly through it to once again get back to the beginning. GEM 4 Fly through the wind tunnel on the right to get to the fourth area. Have Cynder climb up the vines to the top, then switch to Spyro and use the boulder swing to break the wall. Climb across dodging the falling spikes. On the platform here is a special magic gem(3). Fall down into the next room and kill the ghosts here. Go over to left and kill the vines, then jump and use Spyros boulder to break the floor, revealing an armor chest(2). It is Spyro's defensive bracers, which give him regenerating health. Go back to the right and have Cynder climb up the vines. Then have Spyro use his boulder to break the wall. Go through and to the left to find a spirit gem in the hall(13). Go out of the hall and fall off the ledge to find a special health gem(3). Fly back up and go towards the Crystal Rey, causing a bunch of ghosts come out and grab it. Kill the ghosts and pick up the crystal, opening yet another wind tunnel. Fly through it and drop the crystal on the dragon, opening the door and finishing the level. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ THE DAM ------- Armor: 2 Health Gems: 2 Magic Gems: 2 Spirit Gems: 5 Elite Enemies: 1 ---------------- You start off flying over a river with a few large flying enemies attacking you. Kill them, then fly to the left. Go to the platform on the tower here and get the special magic gem(1). Go forward and under the shadow door to find a special health gem(1). Go onto either of the floodgates of the dam and fly to the center ledge to get a spirit gem(1). Go to the right of the floodgate on the right and under the shadow door. Open the door, grab an adamantine orb, and go outside. Wall run to the left and onto the vines. Wall run farther onto a platform. Climb up the vines to the left of here to get to another platform, then jump down onto the floodgate. A few more large flying enemies will attack you, so drop the orb and kill them. Pick the orb back up and drop it on the switch, releasing the pulling tube. Have one player grab onto the tube and have the other fly away from the wall. Once you fly far enough, the first floodgate will open. Go back to the orbs and grab another, this time flying over the water to the left side of the left floodgate. Land on the platform here and wall run to the left. Grab onto the vines and climb up to a higher up platform. Once again, drop onto the floodgate and do what you did before. *cutscene* The water was not enough, so you need to unleash the ENTIRE dam. But first there is special stuff. Fly back over to the tower on the right and climb up the vines here to find an armor piece(1). It is Spyro's defensive tail piece, which wounds attacking enemies. Fly back to where spirit gem 1 was and go up to the upper ledge. Go forward through the opening onto an elevator powered by turning wheels on either side (left goes up, right goes down). Go to the left wheel and begin turning it, but stop about halfway up. Go to the other side of the elevator to find a secret room with two spirit gems(2&3). If you passed it, turn the wheel on this side to go back down. Continue the rest of the way up the elevator and go to the left for a save point. Go to the right and through the opening to see a familiar face. Kill him and his friends to open the doors and make an armor crate appear in the middle of the room(2). It is Cynder's fury bracers, which give her increased fury power. Continue down the hallway. A few axemen will attack you, so kill them. Go forward and under the shadow door to find a special health gem(2). Go to the right, climb up the boxes, and grab the adamantine orb. Go to the left and climb up the vines on the wall. Once at the top, jump off to the right and kill the enemies that appear. Climb up the vines on the wall to get to the top of the dam. Kill the enemies here and drop the orb on one of the switches. Fly back down to the bottom and climb up the vines on the wall again, this time jumping to the left to find a spirit gem(4). Go to the left and use Spyros boulder charge to break the wall, revealing a special magic gem(2). Ignore the orb for now and climb up the vines on the wall to get to the elite enemy. This is an elite of the archer enemy, and his weaknesses are either poison or wind. If you see him jump up in the air, start moving because he is about to start shooting electric balls at you that do a LOT of damage. The best strategy for him is dodge his projectiles, avoid his attacks, but otherwise just keep hitting him. Also, there are gems in the corner of the battlefield. Once he is dead, go back down to the place where magic gem 2 was and grab the orb. Climb back up the vines and continue climbing until you get to the top. Where you appear, there is a spirit gem(5). Kill the enemies and drop the orb on the other switch. Pull the tube out to release the entire dam. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ THE DESTROYER ------------- Armor: 2 Health Gems: 2 Magic Gems: 2 Spirit Gems: 8 Elite Enemies: None ------------------- Not nearly as hard as he looks. Mainly, since the guy is so huge, he IS a level in himself. To destroy him, you have to destroy the twelve dark crystals on his body. To begin, you automatically fly onto a platform on his side. Kill the enemies here, destroy the dark crystal(1), and collect the spirit gem(1). Fly around the platform you are on and down to find a special health gem(1). Fly farther in this direction to the inside of this left arm and destroy the dark crystal(2). Fly to the spike sticking out of his chest and climb up the light brown spots here to find an armor piece(1). It is Spyro's fury tail piece, which gives him increased fury duration. Fly across to the other platform (not exactly sure how) and destroy the other dark crystal(3). Fly to the underside of his right arm and destroy the dark crystal(4), then fly around to the far side to find two spirit gems(2&3). Fly to his hips and destroy the dark crystal(5). Fly around his hips to his left to find another platform. Kill the enemies here then walk back towards the camera to find a spirit gem(4). Fly up his back to find another dark crystal(6) and another spirit gem(5). Once all of the first six are destroyed, a semi-cutscene of his right wrist revealing a dark crystal plays. Go destroy the crystal(7) and part of his arm will fall off, opening a tunnel higher up. Go up the vines and through the tunnel and you will appear at his upper arm. Fly up and destroy the dark crystal here(8) and continue on to his shoulder. Once here, fly over to the vines on the wall and climb up them to find a special magic gem(1). Climb farther up and go to the right to find a special health gem(2). Fly back to the left side of his shoulder and fall off the ledge to find an armor chest(2). It is Spyro's offensive bracers, which give him increased chance to disarm. Continue around him in this direction to find a platform. Climb up the vines here avoiding the flame jets to find another dark crystal(9). The wall next to you will fall off, revealing another dark crystal. Fly over to it and destroy it(10). Fly up and to the right to find a spirit gem on the ledge(6). Fly to the area that opens up to get back to the area you first appeared at in this area. Kill the enemies if you want to and fly up to the right to get on the back of his head. Before you bother to kill the enemies here, go over near his shoulder and wall run to the left to find two spirit gems(7&8). Fly back to his head and kill the waves of enemies here. Go over to the top of his head and destroy the dark crystal(11), opening a path inside. Go through his head and you will reach his mouth. A special magic gem is disguised as one of his teeth(2). Fly down his throat and through his body avoiding the walls and flame jets. Eventually you will reach his heart. Go start hitting it, avoiding the lava fountains that occasionally erupt. Repeat this three times and his heart will be destroyed(12) causing a flow of lava to surge through his veins. Fly away from it as fast as you can. Eventually you will emerge through his mouth, ending the level. *cutscene* END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ BURNED LANDS ------------ Armor: 2 Health Gems: 2 Magic Gems: 3 Spirit Gems: 10 Elite Enemies: 1 ---------------- *cutscene* Due to this cutscene, I was depressed this entire level. I vowed to not give any spoilers, so you will see why. Anyway, you start out in a land that is completely black with no trees or life or anything (depressing level, I know). Begin going down the path. After going past a group of small flying enemies, walls will come up around the area you are in. A few waves of enemies will appear, the last one containing a large shielded enemy. Once all of them are dead, the walls will go down. Continue onward to encounter another set of walled in enemies. This is a bunch of axemen that get replaced when one dies. Once they are all dead, the walls will go down (this will happen a lot). *cutscene* Fly across the lava river, ignoring the large flying enemies (I dont think they ever stop coming). There is a special health gem on the other side(1). Go to the left behind the dead trees to find a spirit gem(1). Go in front of where the health gem was to find another spirit gem(2). Go forward a little and to the right to find another spirit gem(3). Go back to the river and follow it to Spyros right to find a high up ledge on the left side of a river with a normal health gem on it. Go to the left from here through an opening and follow this path to get to the elite enemy. This is the elite of the large shielded enemy, and his weakness is either fear or lightning. Once again, don't be intimidated by his size, just don't let him hit you. The best strategy is to wait until you have a fury to go fight this guy. After knocking off his armor, you should use electricity to break his shield. Then, use your fury if you have one. If you do, this guy is very easy. If not, it might take a while, but you will beat him. Once he is dead, a special health gem will sprout at the back of the cave(1). Go back out to the river and go to Spyros left to a high up platform out in the middle of the lava. Kill the large shielded enemy here and a special magic gem will sprout out of the middle(1). If you are facing away from the mainland, go to the left of the rock in front of you to find another platform with a few waves of axemen and a large shielded enemy. Kill all of them and an armor chest will appear(1). It is Spyro's fury helmet, which gives him increased chance to combo. Fly back to the mainland to encounter another set of walled enemies (the last wave is two large shielded enemies). Kill all of them and go toward the newly opened area. Before you go out over the lava, turn right to find a spirit gem(4). Now fly out over the lava and to the left into a valley of lava. Keep flying in this direction and eventually you will see a flyover view of the next area. Follow the wall on the right and you will come to a cave with a bunch of axemen and a large unshielded enemy inside. Kill them if you want and break the dark crystal on the left side of the back wall to reveal an armor chest(2). It is Cynder's fury tail piece, which gives her increased fury duration. Continue on the right side of the wall to find a platform with a special magic gem(2). Continue around the right side of this area to find another platform near the lava with a few waves of axemen. Kill them and push over the slab of stone on the left side of the platform. Climb up the vines here and continue up the rock face to the top. Continue down this path killing the axemen that appear. Eventually you will appear at a long strip of rock hanging out over the air. There are two spirit gems on this rock(5&6). After getting these, fall off the strip and fly back towards the wall to find a ledge with a special magic gem on it(3). Make your way back up to the strip and fly to the platform it is pointing at. You will immediately be locked in by walls and attacked by two large unshielded enemies. Kill them and the walls will lower and two spirit gems will sprout out of the ground(7&8). There is also a spirit gem on each side of the arena(9&10). Once you have all of these, continue up the strip of rock to finish the level. END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ FLOATING ISLANDS ---------------- Armor: None Health Gems: 2 Magic Gems: 1 Spirit Gems: 18 (last minute experience?) Elite Enemies: 2 (wow there are two?) ------------------------------------- This levels guide is somewhat confusing due to all of the different islands, so stick with me. Note: most of the braziers in the first area are guarded by dark crystals. *cutscene* You start out on a good sized island facing a big gate with a brazier on each side. You need to light all eight braziers in the first area to open the gate. To begin, go up to the gate and light both of the braziers next to it. Fly up along the side of the gate to get to the top where you will find a spirit gem(1). Fly back down and kill all of the shielded enemies here to make a spirit gem sprout from the ground(2) (P.S. it took me weeks to figure out about this). Facing away from the gate, fly to the island on your left to find a spirit gem(3). Continue in this direction to the next island and get the spirit gem on top of the half-arch(4). Go to the right and light the brazier here(3). Continue in this direction to the next island to find a spirit gem(5). Fall down to the right to find another spirit gem on the base of the structure(6). Go back up to the top to find another spirit gem on the ledge above gem 5(7) and another in the pavilion(8) and a special health gem next to it(1). Fall down on the side opposite to spirit gem 5 to find another at the base(9). Fly back to the top and in the same direction you took to get gem 8 to find another brazier on a small island. Kill the small shielded enemy here and light the brazier(4). Turn around and fly down to the bottom to where you see two walkways on arches separated from each other. There is a spirit gem under one of the arches of the walkway on the left(10). Go to the other side to find another spirit gem behind the other walkway(11). Go forward to the next island to find a spirit gem on the ground(12) and another on the structure(13) and a save spot AND another brazier(5). Go forward and to the left to find another island with a brazier, a chain lock, and a few small shielded enemies. Light the brazier and run or kill the enemies, whatever you want(6). Either way, turn around and fly to the upper island and onto the structure and light the brazier(7). Turn the other direction, fly onto the higher island, and go around the structure to find a spirit gem(14). Fly to the island with the normal gems in front of you and fall off the far side to find a special magic gem(1). Go back to the previous island and up onto the structure to find another brazier(8). The door is open, but before going through, go back down to the two separated walkways to find an elite enemy(1). After lighting all of the torches but before going through the door, fly back down to the far wall on the left to get to the battlefield. This is the elite of the large flying enemy and his weakness is either ice or wind. There really isn't anything to look out for here, because the best strategy is to keep shooting him with ice needles and freeze him in place until he is dead. There is a nearby green gem if you need it on top of the wall. Now that the door is open, find your way back up to it and go through. Pull the lever in this room to close the last door and open the next. **Note that once you do this, there is no way back. Make sure you have everything. (1H, 1M, 14S, 1E)** You automatically run into the next area where you are attacked by many shielded enemies with three chain locks in the arena. Kill the enemies and the large unshielded enemy will attack you. Kill him to open up the exit, but dont go through yet. Facing away from the entrance door, go to the left to find a spirit gem(15). Go to the other side and onto the island there to find an elite enemy(2). This is the elite of the shielded enemy and his weakness is fire. Once again, there really isn't anything specific to watch out for. The best strategy for him is to break the forcefield, break his shield, then just keep hitting him. There are plenty of regenerating gems nearby. Once he is dead, fly up to the lower ledge of the structure on this island to find a spirit gem(16). Go back to the opening created when you defeated the large enemy and fly up to the ledge on the right to find a spirit gem(17). From here, fly over to the upper ledge on the other island to find another spirit gem(18). Go into the covered area on this ledge to find a special health gem(2). By this point, you should have everything in the game :-) Go back to the opening and fly to the wind tunnel you can see from here. END OF LEVEL ------------ ------------ MALEFORS LAIR (dun dun dun) -------------- No collectibles --------------- *outrageously long cutscene* Yay! You are finally here! (and he is not really that hard) This level is three parts with three different health bars. Once one health bar goes down, the scenery changes and it is refilled. PART ONE You start out flying over the islands fighting Malefor in mid-air combat. Just about all you have to do is hit him from behind and avoid a few certain attacks: when he fires out meteors away from you (they will turn around, so dodge roll) and when he spews purple flame everywhere. Every once in a while when you get his health low enough, he will zoom to the other side of the arena. Simply chase him down, get behind him, and keep hitting him. Eventually you will run down his health. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> Its been a while, huh? Anyway, on with the show. To start, Malefor will come up out of the clouds behind you. Press X to dodge his attack. Then he comes again, so press [] to dodge and hit him back. *cutscene* PART TWO Now you are on a plummeting island, still fighting. Same as before, but he has a new attack: he will send a purple orb out from himself, so dodge roll to avoid it. Once again, keep hitting him. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> Once again (theres going to be another). Have Spyro press X to dodge Malefors attack. He then looks at Cynder, so have her press X as well. He then attacks AGAIN, so both players press [] to dodge and then /\ repeatedly for a strong return hit. *cutscene* PART THREE Same as two, but he has an invincible fury shield around him. Hit this to quickly build up fury power, because the laser is the only thing that can hurt him. Otherwise, same old, same old. INTERACTIBLE CUTSCENE --> Here we go again! To begin, Cynder must press [] repeatedly to charge up a laser, then Spyro presses [] to hit Malefor. Now you are flying over open air and Malefor is nowhere in sight. Oh my god! He just appeared behind you and is smashing both of you into a wall! Quickly, press X a bunch to push him away! Now, finishing blow...both players, smash /\ so hard that your controller breaks! Yay! You won! *almost-final cutscene* *credits* *cutscene that you must see to truthfully proclaim yourself as a Spyro fan* ----- | | |---- |---- |\ | |--\ | | | | | | \ | | \ | |---| |-- |-- | \ | | | | | | | | | \ | | / | | | |---- |---- | \| |--/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COLLECTIBLES GUIDE| COLLECTIBLES GUIDE | COLLECTIBLES GUIDE |COLLECTIBLES GUIDE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /------------\ | WHY DO THIS? | \------------/ In this section, I'm going to tell you why it is important to collect each of these objects. *****READ THIS PARAGRAPH IF ANYTHING!!!***** | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V First, I'll start with the armor. The armor gives Spyro and Cynder certain buffs, which will help with fighting (the buffs are told in the Instructions section of the guide). The armor is divided into three types and three sections. If you go into the armor menu, you will see three rows. The top row is the helmets, the next is the tail pieces, and the bottom is the bracers. You can only equip one piece of armor from each row. The armor is also divided into three columns. The leftmost column on each player is the offensive column. These pieces of armor will give you buff to help with killing enemies. The middle column is the defensive armor. These will help to keep the players alive longer. The rightmost column is the fury armor. These will make your fury more powerful. While Spyro and Cynder's defensive and fury armor has the same effect, the offensive armor has different effects. Spyro's offensive armor is more focused on melee attacking, giving him buffs like more melee damage and increased chance to disarm. On the other hand, Cynder's offensive armor is more focused on the elemental attacks, giving her buffs like more elemental damage and regenerating mana. **IMPORTANT**: along with the buffs, if you equip entire columns of armor, they give you special group buffs. For both players, the defensive armor set makes them immune to stun (you won't be knocked back or stalled if you get hit), and the fury armor set unlocks fury breath. With unlocked fury breath, you can press the same directional button as the element you have equipped to use the fury laser outside of fury mode. The only problem is that even if you have the most max mana upgrades possible and a full bar, it will burn up all of your mana in about four seconds. However, the offensive set buffs are different. Spyro gets nuclear hit, which greatly increases damage, knockback, and disarm chance. On the other hand, Cynder gets poisonous hit, which makes every melee hit against an enemy like shooting a poison ball at them. Also, one other special buff is that if both players have their offensive armor equipped, both players will start pulling health gems out of any nearby enemies. There are a total of eighteen pieces of armor in the world, nine for Spyro and nine for Cynder. Next, the health gems. Health gems look like the normal health gems, except that they look more like a giant egg than a crystal. When you break these, they give both players a special health upgrade gem. Every four of these that Spyro gets or five that Cynder gets, their maximum health will go up. Spyro's health can upgrade five times, and Cynder's can upgrade four times. This is very important because if you do not upgrade your health, Malefor's purple meteor attack will be able to kill you in one hit. There are a total of twenty health gems in the world. Next, the magic gems. Once again, the magic gems look more like a giant egg. Every time you break a gem, both players get a special green gem. These upgrade your maximum mana. Every five that Spyro gets and four that Cynder gets, their maximum mana goes up a little. Spyro's mana can upgrade four times and Cynder's mana can upgrade five times. The final result of this is Spyro has more max health than Cynder, but Cynder has more max mana than Spyro. These are important because if you get the unlocked fury breath mentioned earlier but only have the original max mana, the laser will be so short that it will be almost useless against the larger enemies. There are a total of twenty magic gems in the world. Next, the spirit gems. These are the most common of the collectibles in the game. Each one that you break, Spyro and Cynder each get one thousand experience. Considering how many there are, this adds up to a substantial amount. Also, if you do not collect these and are in one player mode, whoever you are not playing as will barely get any experience at all. These are important because they give a large amount of experience to help you level up your elements. There are a total of ninety-nine spirit gems in the world, all of them totaling up to ninety-nine thousand experience for each player. Finally, the elite enemies. These are stronger versions of normal enemies that appear in certain areas around the world. They are somewhat hard to beat, but if you do, they will give whichever player you are ten thousand experience. These are important because they give a substantial amount of experience and also help to train you to fight against stronger enemies. There is an elite enemy for every type of normal enemy except the ape ghosts, meaning that there are eight elite enemies in the world, totaling to eighty thousand experience for whichever person you are playing as. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /------------\ | INSTRUCTIONS | \------------/ This section is the instructions for how to find all of the extra things in the game and get 100% completion. This section is for someone who has already gone through the game or knows how and is going back to get 100%. Catacombs--Total: 13 Armor: None Health Gems: 1 1. In the area where you have to drop the orb onto the switch, turn around and fly off the cliff back the way you came. Go all the way to the wall and then go towards the camera. The gem is on a ledge right in front of you. Magic Gems: 1 1. After dropping the orb on the switch and going through the door, turn immediately to the right and go off the edge. Go forward away from the door and the green gem should be right in front of you after a series of ledges. Spirit Gems: 10 1. Once you learn your elemental abilities and defeat all of the enemies, continue on the path through the vines and the gem is shown in a tutorial. 2. After dropping the orb on the switch and going through the door, turn to the right and the gem is just off the ledge. 3. In the room with the waterfall and the lake just after dropping the orb on the switch, go to the far end of the room and you should be able to see the gem on top of a platform. 4. While continuing down the normal path in the lake room, the gem should be on the path on a tower against the wall. 5. On the next tower from the one with gem 4. 6. While running away from the golem in the lake room, you have to use a bunch of vines on the wall to go up a level. Go all the way left on these vines to find the gem in a cave in the wall. 7. After you destroy the golem's hand, the gem should be on the platform that you go to next. 8. After destroying the golem's hand, go down to where he was standing to find the gem in the area that the building used to be. 9. Across the lake from gem 9. 10. After destroying the golem's hand, continue down the path. When you drop down into another room, the gem in towards the camera in the middle. Elite Enemies: 1 1. After destroying the golem's hand, go back down to the lake and to the left of the waterfall. This is the elite of a normal grublin and his weakness is always shadow. Try to stay close to this guy or else he'll shoot a lightning bolt at you that does half of your starting max health. The best strategy for him is to hit him until you see him spinning around in one spot, then grab him, jump, and keep pressing triangle. Twilight Falls--Total: 13 Armor: 2 1. After killing the small shield enemy, go to the right of this area away from the river. There are some vines, so kill them and follow this path. Elite Enemies: 1 1. Go through the cave with magic gem 2 and into the wind tunnel. It will take you straight to the elite enemy. He is the elite of the small flying enemies in this level. His weakness is always earth. The best strategy for him is simply keep grabbing him, jumping, and pressing triangle. There are plenty of gems nearby if you are in trouble. Valley of Avalar--Total: 30 *Note: Everything in this level is after you defend the village* Armor: 4 1. In the same area as spirit gem 3. This is Cynder's offensive bracers, which give her regenerating mana. 2. The chest is in a cave in the waterfall past spirit gem 8. You can get to it by climbing the vines on the wall of the waterfall. This is Spyro's defensive helmet, which gives him increased defense. 3. The chest is behind the rock Meadow is held on. The rock explodes revealing the chest once you kill all the enemies. It is Cynder's defensive tail piece, which wounds all attacking enemies. 4. After the cutscene with the Hermit, climb the wall to the save point and wall run to the right. The chest is inside the Hermit's house. It is Spyro's fury bracers, which give him increased fury power. Health Gems: 3 1. The gem is behind the tree across the river from the village. 2. The gem is on a small platform in this direction. 3. After unlocking the storage shed, take an orb and go towards the nearby waterfall. Go past it and around the bend to some other platforms. Climb up the vines in this area and wall run to the right then go on the upside down vines to the other side. Drop the orb on the switch and the nearby gate will lower, allowing you to get the gem. Spirit Gems: 19 1. The gem is right next to the village. 2. The gem is behind a bunch of small trees on the way to Meadow's cave. 3. Next to Meadow's cave is a column of vines. Climb up these and the gem is at the back of this area. 4. The gem is next to the elite enemy. 5. Going down the right side of the valley, the gem is on a platform a little bit out from the wall. 6. The gem is on another platform on the isolated area you can reach by flying to from gem 5's platform. 7. The gem is below gem 5's platform next to the river. 8. On the right side of the waterfall next to the Hermit's area. 16. On the other side of the waterfall from gem 15. 17. On the opposite side of the mountain from the village. 18. Elite Enemies: 1 1. A little bit out of the village on the right side of the river you will find some platforms and vines on the side of the mountain. Climb up these to get to the battle. Dragon City--Total: 17 Armor: 3 1. The chest is behind a shadow door in the upper part of the burning building area. It is Cynder's offensive tail piece, which gives her increased attack speed. 2. The chest is next to spirit gem 8. It is Spyro's offensive helmet, which gives you increased melee attack damage. 3. The chest appears after you kill the big unshielded enemy. You will have to kill a wave of enemies in order to have enough time to open it. It is Cynder's fury helmet, which gives increased chance to combo. Health Gems: 3 1. The gem is behind a shadow door in the burning building area. 2. The gem is behind a steel cage door in the area after the burning building. The door needs three braziers lit to open. The first is outside the shadow door for armor 1. The second is on a raised area near the door. The third is more complicated. Go into the area with the wheel to fill the pool with water and go to the far wall. Climb the vines here and blow the horn. The platform with the brazier will then lower. Once all three braziers are lit, the door for the gem will open. 3. The gem is in the siege tower area to the left of the catapult. Magic Gems: 2 1. The gem is in the building next to the wheel used to fill the pool with water. 2. The gem is in a small tunnel in the area after you protect the catapult. 9. The gem is behind a shadow door to the left of the area where you fight a big unshielded enemy. Elite Enemies: None Attack of the Golem--Total: 3 Armor: 1 1. Just before you go into the building to fight the golem, you will see a chest next to the save point. It is Cynder's offensive helmet, which gives her increased elemental attack damage. Health Gems: 1 1. In the first area, there is a gem to the right behind a gate. Wait for the golem to do a sideways sweep with his tail. This will break the gate and allow you to get the gem. Magic Gems: 1 1. Just before you get to the second area, there is a gem in a corner on your left. Spirit Gems: None Elite Enemies: None Ruins of Warfang--Total: 22 *Note: This level is divided up by sections, so unless I change the section that I am in, it is still in the previous one.* Armor: 2 1. From magic gem 1, fly back across the ledge and around the rock to a platform. The chest is on the platform. It is Cynder's defensive helmet, which gives her increased defense. 2. From magic gem 3, after dropping down and killing the ghosts, go to the left to find some vines. Kill these and then jump and use earth boulder to destroy the ground. The chest can now be seen. It is Spyro's defensive bracers, which give him regenerating health. Health Gems: 3 1. In the second section on the left, go past the first set of boards on the floor to the second. Smash through this, then run away from the incoming wall through a series of shadow doors. The gem is at the end of this hallway. 2. You will see the gem on a small ledge sticking out from the wall. Magic Gems: 3 1. From spirit gem 7, fly back down and to the left. You will see some vines. Kill these and grab the gem behind them. 2. In the second section on the left, go past the first shadow door to the second. There is a green gem behind this door. 3. In the second section on the right, after jumping across some vines and dodging some falling rocks, you arrive at a platform. The gem is on this platform. Spirit Gems: 13 1. From the very beginning, go straight down the path towards the camera to find the gem. 2. The gem is next to gem 1. 3. In the first section on the left, go down to the first platform of this area. From here, go down and to your left. The gem is on a small ledge. 4. From gem 3, go forward and climb the vines, then turn around and fly towards you. The gem is on a ledge here. 5. From gem 4, fly back down, towards the camera, and left. There is a ledge sticking out here and the gem is on it. 6. From gem 5, fly to the left a little and away from the camera to find a ledge with a gem on it sticking out of the rock. 7. From gem 6, fly up and to the left to where you see a downdraft. Climb up the vines here to get to a platform with another gem. 8. From gem 7, climb up the vines and wall run to the right. Follow this ledge to find another gem. 9. In the first section on the right, there is a small platform just before the first platform of the area. The gem is on this platform. 10. There is another small platform with another gem to the right of the first actual platform. 11. Another platform with a gem is in front of the second platform of the area. 12. In front of the third platform of the area is yet another small platform with yet another gem. 13. From magic gem 3, after dropping down, killing the ghosts, and destroying the wall, the gem is in one of the halls to your left. Elite Enemies: 1 1. After you have gotten the crystal from the first section on the left, go back to the place where you got it to find the enemy. The Dam--Total: 12 Armor: 2 1. After opening the floodgates, go to the tower on the right. Climb up the vines here to get to the chest. It is Spyro's defensive tail piece, which wounds attacking enemies. 2. On the left of the left structure, there is a shadow door. The gem is behind it. 2. After killing the big shielded enemy and going through the hallway, there is a shadow door with the gem behind it. From spirit gem 4, walk to the left and destroy the wall with earth boulder. The gem is behind this wall. Spirit Gems: 5 1. From the very beginning, go onto either of the side structures and fly from there to the ledge with a gem. 2. While going up the lift after opening the flood gates, stop halfway up and go to the other side of the lift. There is an area in the wall with the gem in it. *Note: If you can't stop at the right spot, go to the top and then go to the other side of the lift and use those wheels to go down. Then you can see where it is.* 3. Next to gem 2. 4. From health gem 2, climb up the vines to the left and jump to the left to find the gem. 5. At the top of the dam, there is a ledge sticking out of the platform. The gem is on it. Elite Enemies: 1 1. From magic gem 2, climb the vines on the wall to get to the battle. The Destroyer--Total: 14 Armor: 2 1. In the starting area, go to the rock jutting from the Destroyer's chest and use the brown patches to climb up and get to the chest. It is Spyro's fury tail piece, which gives him increased fury duration. 2. After going up through the Destroyer's arm, fly up to the platform above. Walk to the left and fall off to find a ledge with the chest. It is Spyro's offensive bracers, which give him increased chance to disarm. Health Gems: 2 1. After destroying the first dark crystal, go to the part that fell off to find a ledge with a gem. 2. From magic gem 1, climb the vines to your left to get to a platform. From here, jump to the platform to your right, which has the gem. Magic Gems: 2 1. After you go up through the Destroyer's wrist, climb the vines to your right to get to a platform with the gem. 2. When you destroy dark crystal 11 and go inside the Destroyer, the gem is one of his teeth. Spirit Gems: 8 1. On the very first platform that you automatically fly to, there is a spirit gem. 2. On the far side of the arm that is in the water, there is a ledge with a gem. 3. Next to gem 2. 4. When you go around the Destroyer to his back, go towards the camera to find the gem on a ledge. 5. From gem 4, fly up to the platform above you. The gem is on a rock to the right. 6. After destroying dark crystal 10, climb the vines in front of you (or just fly) to the platform to your right. The gem is on this platform. 7. After killing the many waves of enemies on the back of the Destroyer's head, fly off the edge against the wall (you might have to wall run) to the platform across this way. the gem is on this platform. 8. Next to gem 7. Elite Enemies: None Burned Lands--Total: 18 Armor: 2 1. From magic gem 1, keep flying in the same direction that you did to get to the platform until you find another lower down platform behind the gigantic rock. Kill all of the axemen and the large shielded enemy here and the chest will appear in the middle of the platform. It is Spyro's fury helmet, which gives him increased chance to combo. 2. After flying into the second area and viewing the short flyover cutscene, go to the right and kill all the enemies in this cave. Then destroy the dark gem on the wall to reveal the chest. It is Cynder's fury tail piece, which gives her increased fury duration. Health Gems: 2 1. After you kill the second set of walled enemies and get to the river of lava, go straight across and the gem is on the ground below you. 2. The health gem will appear at the back of the area after you kill the elite enemy. Magic Gems: 3 1. From health gem 1, go to the left until you reach a high up platform out in the middle of the lava. Kill the large shielded enemy and the gem will sprout from the ground on the platform. 2. From armor 2, leave the cave and fly against the wall to the right. You will find a small ledge with the gem on it. 3. From spirit gem 6, fall off the strip of rock and fly back towards the wall behind you. You will land on a ledge with the gem on it. Spirit Gems: 10 1. From health gem 1, there is a gem on the other side of the trees right in front of you. 2. From health gem 1, there is a gem behind the trees to your left. 3. From health gem 1, there is a gem surrounded by trees ahead of you and to the right. 4. There is a gem behind the wall to the right of the exit of the third walled battle. 5. From magic gem 2, continue down the normal path until you get to a long strip of rock hanging out into the air. The gem is on this rock. 6. The gem is near gem 5. 7. From gem 6, fly to the other platform the strip of rock is pointing to. You will be caught in a walled battle against two large unshielded enemies. Once you kill them, the gem will sprout from the ground. 8. The gem sprouts from the ground along with gem 7. 9. The gem is to the right of the battle for gems 7 and 8. 10. The gem is to the left of the battle for gems 7 and 8. Elite Enemies: 1 1. From the platform that had magic gem 1, fly to the left and towards you until you see a column of vines. Climb up this and follow the path to get to the battle. Floating Islands--Total: 23 Armor: None Health Gems: 2 1. The gem is in the same pavilion as spirit gem 5. 2. From spirit gem 18, go to the right. The gem is under the cover here. Magic Gems: 1 1. From spirit gem 10, fly to the nearby island with a couple of normal gems on it. Go to the far side of this island, fall off, and turn around. The gem is on a small ledge in the side of the island. Spirit Gems: 18 1. At the very beginning, you will be attacked by three small shielded enemies. Kill them and the gem will sprout from the ground. 2. From the very beginning, fly up until you can get on the wall in front of you. Go to the left side of this wall to find the gem. 3. From gem 2, turn to the right and go to the first island in this direction. The gem is in plain view here. 4. From gem 3, continue forward to the next island and grab the gem on on top of the half of the arch. 5. From gem 4, turn to the right and go to the next island and grab the gem here. 6. The gem is on the ledge above gem 5. 7. The gem is on the ledge in front of gem 5. 8. From gem 6, go forward and grab the gem in the pavilion. 9. In the second area, go left from the door you enter by to find the gem on a small ledge. 16. From gem 15, go back across the clearing to the other island. The gem is on the lower ledge here. 17. After defeating all of the enemies in the second area, go up to the hole in the wall but do not go through. Instead, fly up on top of the wall to the right. The gem is on this ledge. 18. From gem 17, fly to the upper part of the other island from this ledge. The gem is up here. Elite Enemies: 2 1. 2. After killing all of the enemies in the second area, go to the other island to get to the battle. This is the elite of the small shield enemy and his weakness is fire. Once again, there really isn't anything specific to watch out for. The best strategy for him is to break the forcefield, break his shield, then just keep hitting him. There are plenty of regenerating gems nearby.
