To use this, if there's something you wish to find instantly in my FAQ, in the above table, on the left is the name of a section or sub-section. To the right is a weird code, like GOK5.1. Basically, if you wish to go to the section where I tell you about Goku under The Playable Characters Of The Story, on your Keyboard, hold Ctrl and then hit F and a window will open. Type in GOK5.1 and hit Find Next. It'll bring you to that section instantly. The code to reach the Table Of Contents is just that: Table Of Contents. [ INTR1 ] = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hello and welcome to another one of Kain Stryder's Walkthroughs. This time, I'm handling Tenchu: Fatal Shadows for IGN. I'll be covering everything this game has to offer, from the Tutorials right down to the final boss strategy. I've not played most of the other titles in the series, but I enjoyed Tenchu: Stealth Assassins a great deal, so I do know part of the story, history of the characters, etc. Anyway, before I continue, let me just say the following: I wrote this for the public to access for free and to get help in a game, not for some petty thief to rip and steal my work to make a extra buck. So please, use my walkthrough as a source and handbook and don't edit it in any way, shape or form to add or claim as your own. Anyway, with that said, let's get onto the walkthrough and I hope you have a blast with Tenchu: Fatal Shadows! Update: This Walkthrough is now available at GameFAQs, Neoseeker and any other sites I've allowed via E-Mail to host this file. If I did not give you permission to host this FAQ on your site, then you're hosting it illegally and if you're reading this on a site with any variatin of "cheat" in its name, please notify me so I may take the necessary action. Thanks. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = II. Current Updates . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ CURUP2 ]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 5/14/07 - Just writing in to let any readers know if they E-Mail me any questions or comments, that my address still works. My willpower to write walkthroughs over the last few years died, mostly to college and real life, but I may just start this up again. Feel free to write in, thanks. 3/21/05 - Finished The Walkthrough completely, making this guide done. I marked it as the Final version, as there's not much else to update here. However, if any reader submits information or anything I missed, I will add it in and note it. Otherwise, I won't really update much. With that said, I hope this walkthrough helps you and enjoy Tenchu: Fatal Shadows! 3/19/05 - First version of this Walkthrough is up. I have the complete version on my harddrive, however I'm running through it and making sure it has no errors and I've gotten everything. For the moment, what you see here is "complete". The full Walkthrough and Section IV: How To Play will be up within the next few days. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = III. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions.) . . . . . . . . . . . . [ FAQ3 ] = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Q. Most of the descriptions and ways you go about in your walkthrough on how to kill enemies doesn't match mine! I have a better way to take them out! A. That's awesome, if you found a better way to kill enemies than what I listed in my guide, cool, but keep it to yourself. What I write in my guide has worked for me quite well, so please don't send in ways for me to write on how to get a kill better or anything. What I write will get you the stealth kill and Grand Master rank in every level, don't worry. Q. How come you don't write for the different layouts in levels? A. I view them as a "extra challenge", quite honestly. All they are is the same level, but the enemies are changed around JUST a little bit, not really much to warrent an entire different playthrough for it. I'll write the levels that get you through the game, the other 2 layouts are just for fun and are NOT part of the story's gameplay, just there for some extra fun. Q. Sometimes when I kill a enemy I see a negative flash on my screen... what is that? A. Whenever you set up a stealth skill, right as Ayame or Rin kill the enemy, hit the Square Button and if your timing is right, BAM! special stealth kill and it nets you 1 extra Scroll for the death. So if a normal death gets you 1 Scroll, that will get you 2 Scrolls. Q. Is it possible for enemies to stealth kill you? A. Yes, it's happened to me a few times and I hated it. Basically this only happens if you poorly time a jump and land in front of an enemy with your back to them. At that point they can do a stealth kill which will kill you. Sucks, huh? Q. If I get a Grand Master or Assassin on one level, but go back and get a worse rating, does that rating overwrite the current one? A. No, unless the Rank is a better one over the current one, it won't over write it, so feel free to do whatever in order to get scrolls for Skills in whatever Stage you're playing in. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = IV. He was on his way back with food for his cubs, when he ran into her and his revenge began. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - K. Nasu . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ FUTA5.12 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- A member of the Hagakure Village, she betrayed her people and went with Lord Jyuzou when he betrayed them as well. She has always considered Rin her rival and hates her deeply. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - N. Hitoha . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ HITO5.13 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also a member of Hagakure Village and the brother of Futaba, he also joined Lord Jyuzou and became a killer. Ranzou . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ RANZ5.14 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another member of the Kuroya, Ranzou just plain enjoys killing and nothing else. He has a goal in mind to kill 1,000 people before he dies, so that gives you an idea of what he's like. Ranzou also has strange power, possibly dealing in magic, but it's not really known. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - P. Shou . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ SHO5.15 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The pretty boy of the Kuroya, Shou may not look it, but he too is a dangerous fighter. He may be weak, but his guitar playing machine gun can more than back him up. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Q. Jyuzou left to start his own following and has since been followed by Rin, for her revenge. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = [ VI. The Walkthrough ] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ THEWA6 ]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Note: ALL the Stages in the Walkthrough are written under "Two Daggers" or Normal Difficulty. Also, I won't mention to pick up items off fallen enemies, that'll be your task. However, I will point out items to pick up around the stages. If I miss something, feel free to toss it my way so I can add it to the guide and give you proper credit. Thanks! Another Note: During a Stealth Kill, if you need to get out of it fast because you're afraid of being detected by another Guard, immediately hit the Circle Button to cancel the movie scene and appear back in control with the enemy dead. Yet Anoterh Note: ALWAYS bring Blow Guns with you in every Stage, as they are possibly the best weapon you can have to Stealth Kill an enemy from afar. Finally, when I give a direction, as in if I were to say "look east of where you are for a item", refer to your map so you know what direction I mean. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - A. The Beginning . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ BEGI6.1 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is taken from the manual: In a time of feudal wars, Rikimaru and Ayame, two Ninjas of the Azuma Clan, served Lord Gohda by returning his precious daughter, Kiku, from the hands of Lord Mei-Oh. Unfortunately, Rikimaru was caught in a disastrous rock fall during his escape and is still missing. The land of Lord Gohda remained peaceful after Mei-Oh's attack and Ayame, as agent of Gohda, continued to patrol the expansive territory. One day in her travels, Ayame came across a decimated village. She hoped to find survivors, but arrived too late. The Ninjas of Hagakure died whispering the word "Kuroya" with their final breaths. As Ayame was about to leave, a young female Ninja arrived and stood in her way. Her name was Rin, back from her training and devastated to see her village in ruins. Squaring off with one another, the fate of the two Ninjas became inextricably intertwined. And the story begins... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - B. Chapter 1 - Daughter Of The Hagakure . . . . . . . . . . [ DOTH6.2 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Sticky Bomb. Items In The Stage - Grenade x1, Health Potion x2, Rice Ball x1 and Smoke Bomb x1. Strategy - Pretty much the trial level, you just get used to everything really. Enemies aren't too hard and it's pretty much a breeze by level if you know what you're doing. Once you begin the level, immediately run out and get behind the Female Guard you come across and Stealth Kill her. Next, head west and climb the stairs at the end to find a Health Potion and Rice Ball. (Note: Do NOT step in the water, the nearby Ninja Guard will hear it.) After this, jump across the water to the southwest and climb up the wall and stay here, crouching down. You'll see a Ninja Guard below you patroling about. Wait for a good moment and Stealth Kill him. After this, make your way east while on top of the wall and you'll come to a archway, with a Ninja Guard and Female Guard nearby. Jump off and land on the ledge above them, while crouching. They shouldn't detect you if you hold R1 when you jump and land, so stay down. After their conversation, when they turn around, leap down inbetween them and attack immediately to score a double kill. Next up, head north and to the northwest of the wooden fort is a little area with a Smoke Bomb, which you should pick up. Once you obtain this, Grapple upwards and make your way north, but as you go downwards to the next area, flatten against the left side of the wall, so the fence like structure is ahead of you. Peek around the corner to see a Female Guard. If she's not there, wait it out. When she appears and walks behind the fence structure, give her a few seconds, then run out and kill her. Once you do this, leave her body where it is and run behind the fence and wait, as a Ninja Guard is nearby. He'll find the body and become alert, but not find you. When he gives up, rush out and Stealth Kill him as well. After this, search the area for a Health Potion, then head east through the door into the next area. In the next area, immediately crouch down and shimmy to the far left of the plank you're on. Watch the two Ninja Guards below and when the one walking around gets near the other Ninja Guard, leap off, run inbetween them and attack for a double kill. Next, continue east down the path and at the end of the logs, crouch down and watch the Female Guard nearby. When she turns towards the river, run up and Stealth Kill her, then drag her body behind the fence. Next up, to the northwest there's a Katana Guard walking around. Try and stay sorta near the fence, but stand in clear sight of him and you should get a !. When this happens, run back behind the logs and watch him. When he gives up searching, rush out and Stealth Kill him. Next, head west from the fence with the dead Female Guard and you'll see a opening in the fence here. Hang yourself from it and observe the Samurai Guard here. When you feel ready, jump up and Stealth Kill him. Next up, go to the far west of this area and grapple upwards to the opening and stay there, watching the Female Guard. When you're ready, leap up and Stealth Kill her. NOW, you have a choice to make. If you run to the middle of where the hut is, you'll trigger the Boss Battle and continue onto Chapter 2.1 - Depatures. However, if you kill the last enemy in this Stage, you'll instead go onto Chapter 2.2 - Determination. There's little difference in any of the choices throughout the game, just you play a different version of the level with different motives is all and you CAN come back and get the other Stage unlocked AT ANY TIME, which is cool. Anyway, if you're going onto 2.1, go to the hut now, otherwise to the east is a Ninja Guard standing around. Wait for the right moment and then kill him. When he's dead, to the far northeast part of the map, there's a Grenade in the corner here if you wish to get it. (Follow the river if you wanna find it.) With that, walk into the heart of the village for a cutscene and then the Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Rin - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - She's pretty easy. Just use the R2 Button and lock onto her and side step any of her attacks and counter when you can. She likes to do a thrusting move with her Katana, a jump in the air where she tries to hit you and a typical punch combo. Really not that hard, just wait till she attacks and run in and slash at her, as she'll be open. Repeat until she hits about 25 Hit Points and the fight will end. Enjoy the cutscene and then head onto the next Chapter, depending on what your actions in this level were. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - C. Chapter 2.1 - Depatures . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ DEPA6.3 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Sticky Bomb. Items In The Stage - Flash Bomb x2, Health Potion x1 and Rice Ball x1. Strategy - Same as the first level was for Ayame, this is sort of a trial level, but not really. Get use to Rin's movement and combat, as she's very different compared to Ayame. Note: There are two enemies here along with a box that holds 2 Flash Bombs at the start of the stage that sort of backtrack into where Ayame's Stage just ended. If you want to kill them, go ahead, they're pretty easy to take out, but they are NOT NEEDED TO GET ASSASSIN RANK. If you want to fight, go for it, otherwise, ignore this and move on. Other Note: To play this Stage, you must have left at least 1 enemy alive in Chapter 1 as Ayame, otherwise you will play Chapter 2.2 - Determination instead. After the cutscene, hide along the wall nearby and you'll see a Female Guard come by. Wait for your chance and then kill her, then move on. Around the corner is another Female Guard, wait for her to semi turn around and then kill her, then grab the Health Potion nearby. Dive into the water now and head to the other side quickly and near the edge, leap up and hang on the ledge and you'll see a Katana Guard come near you, but he won't find you. When he turns his back, climb up and kill him. Next, look down below you to the new area and observe the Claw Guard and the Masked Guard. When you see a chance, run down and kill one and then quickly retreat and wait to kill the other. When this is done, search the area for a box that holds a Rice Ball. When this is done, follow the path around and you'll find a small crawl space to go through. Go ahead and enter it and in the next area, hug the wall ahead of you and at the end, watch for the Katana Guard here. When he turns his back, kill him and continue on. When you arrive at a swort of fence wall, peak around the side and watch the Female Guard here and when her back is turned, run up and kill her. Next up, run to the end of the path and before you reach the wooded area, you'll see a Katana Guard walking around. Stay far enough out of his line of sight and use a Blow Gun if you have it, otherwise, when you see a chance, run in and kill him. (Note: You can run through the wooded area, you don't need to run around the path, making this a rather easy kill.) Next up, head northwest and you'll see a bridge. Stay away from it and wait for the Masked Guard to walk up onto the bridge and if you have a Blow Gun, use it or wait until he turns around and rush and kill him, then back off. Only one enemy remains now, a Female Guard to the east of you. After you kill the Masked Guard, if the Female Guard isn't near you, run across the bridge and hide behind the small religous candle shrine and wait for her to turn her back to you. When she does, kill her and head east to complete this Stage, as you see a cutscene and head into Chapter 3.1 - Secret Encounters. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - D. Chapter 2.2 - Determination . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ DETER6.4 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Sticky Bomb. Items In The Stage - Flash Bomb x2, Grenade x1 and Health Potion x1. Strategy - Same as the first level was for Ayame, this is sort of a trial level, but not really. Get use to Rin's movement and combat, as she's very different compared to Ayame. Note: In order to play this Stage, you must have killed every enemy as Ayame in Chapter 1. Otherwise, you will play Chapter 2.1 instead. Other Note: You have 10 candles at the top of your screen. Each represents an enemy and you must kill all 10 enemies in this Stage to win. As you kill each one, a candle will disappear. After the cutscene, hide along the wall nearby and you'll see a Katana Guard come by. Wait for your chance and then kill him, then drop down to the area where you fought Rin as Ayame to find a box with 2 Flash Bombs. Once you get this, follow the path where you killed the Katana Ninja and dive into the water and head to the other side quickly. At the edge, leap up and hang on the ledge and you'll see a Katana Guard come near you, but he won't find you. When he turns his back, climb up and kill him. Next, look down below you to the new area and observe the Claw Guard and the Female Guard. When you see a chance, run down and kill one and then quickly retreat and wait to kill the other. When this is done, follow the path around and you'll find a small crawl space to go through. Go ahead and enter it and in the next area, hug the wall ahead of you and at the end, watch for the Katana Guard here. When he turns his back, kill him and continue on. When you arrive at a swort of fence wall, peak around the side and watch the Female Guard here and when her back is turned, run up and kill her and move her body back behind the fence from which you came, as there's a Masked Guard who is coming. If you don't do this, you run the risk of getting caught, as he'll be in alert mode. When this is done, move up and watch for the Masked Guard to come by and stay far enough away. When you see him approaching, move back and watch his movement. When he turns around, rush and kill him. Once this is done, grab the box near the candle stand to get a Health Potion, then run to the end of the path and before you reach the wooded area, you'll see a Katana Guard walking around. Stay far enough out of his line of sight and use a Blow Gun if you have it, otherwise, when you see a chance, run in and kill him. (Note: You can run through the wooded area, you don't need to run around the path, making this a rather easy kill.) Once he's dead, look around the area to the east and behind some wooden objects you'll find a box with a Grenade inside. Next up, you may want to drag the Katana Guard's Body away if he's near the bridge, otherwise leave him or let the Masked Guard find him, wait until he's out of !? and then run and kill him. If not, wait by the bridge and wait for the Masked Guard to walk nearby and use a Blow Gun if you have it or wait until he turns around and rush and kill him, then back off VERY fast. Only one enemy remains now, a Female Guard to the east of you. After you kill the Masked Guard, if the Female Guard isn't looking in your direction, watch her movement down below the other side of the bridge and cross the bridge when you feel it's safe. Once on the other side, look down below at her and when you see a chance, drop down and kill her, extinguishing the final candle. After this, you'll see a cutscene, as you head into Chapter 3.2 - The Geisha And The Hired Blade. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - E. Chapter 3.1 - Secret Encounters . . . . . . . . . . . . [ SECEN6.5 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Chameleon Spell. Items In The Stage - Smoke Bomb x3. Strategy - Basically, Part 1 of this stage is a normal "Stealth Kill your enemies, don't die, blah, blah, blah" scenario, however Part 2 is more of a "Don't get caught or you lose" thing. You can take it easy in Part 1, but once you have to follow Jyuzou, be VERY careful how you do it, otherwise you can immediately lose and will have to start all over. After the cutscene, grapple up to the house to your right and make your way across the roof here. To the right and below you is a Archer Guard. Nail him with a Blow Gun and a Spear Guard will notice this and run to check him. After he's calmed down, leap down and kill him as well. Next, from where you killed the Spear Guard, head north and at the end of the path to your left is a small hut house. Get onto the roof and below you to the west is another Archer Guard. Kill him and then get back onto the roof and wait, as there's a Masked Guard patrolling that'll find his dead friend. Once he finds him and has calmed down, kill him and then jump back up top onto the roof. To the west, you should see a Archer Guard standing still, idly looking about. Use a Blow Gun on him to kill him, regardless if you get a ! from him. After this, head to where he was and get onto the roof of the house he was by. Below you to the south are two Guards, possibly talking or not, depends if you got close enough to "start" their conversation, otherwise they're already patrolling. Just stick to the roofs if they're not there and kill them when you see a right moment, otherwise if they are there, wait for your chance to drop and take them both out. Once you've done this, you've acquired enough points for Grand Master Rank and don't need to kill any more Guards. When you're ready, head through the gate door to the north of you. After the cutscene, you'll need to follow Jyuzou, which basically, no, you can't kill him, I tried that and...got a game over, so, heh, can't do that I'm afraid. Anyway, you need to keep a safe distance from him, but you can't let him get TOO far from you, otherwise you'll "lose sight" of him and lose. When you're ready, go down the left side of the path to find a box with 3 Smoke Bombs inside, then continue on. When Jyuzou reaches the archway, duck out of sight and when he moves on, head through the archway and climb up the wall to the right of you and leap onto the building just ahead of you and duck down, following Jyuzou. There ARE Guards here as well, so be careful not to alert them as Jyuzou makes his rounds. Basically from here out, follow him and just crouch low and don't get sighted, it's not too hard of a task. When Jyuzou reaches the gate and enters, you're free to leap down and run inside as well. If you wish to kill the Guards here for fun, there's three of them around the area, none are hard to find or kill for that matter. Anyway when you enter the gate, a cutscene happens and you enter a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Tatsukichi - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - As Ayame said, "Are you serious?" She's pretty weak, a few slashes will take her down. Alternatively, if you wanna see the next cutscene after you kill her in a different way, as the battle begins, run up and while holding the Left Analog Stick toward her, get close and hit the Circle Button and instead of a throw, Ayame will knock her in the neck and she'll fall over. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - F. Chapter 3.2 - The Geisha And The Hired Blade . . . . . . [ TGAT6.6 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Chameleon Spell. Items In The Stage - Blow Gun x1, Health Potion x1 and Rice Ball x1. Strategy - You just need to go about and kill Guards without getting detected, really. Your basic stealth/kill stage, nothing really too hard about it, but things will get challenging from here out, so keep your Guard up. After the cutscene, grapple up to the house on your left and to the west of the roof you're on, below you is a Masked Guard. However, look around him, as there's generally another Guard patrolling that goes up some stairs near him. When this Guard isn't around, jump down, kill him and leap back onto your roof and wait for the other Guard to return and find him. Once he's calmed down, go ahead and kill him, then get back onto the roof and head east over to the next roof and below you to the east is a Spear Guard. Wait for your chance and jump down and kill him as well. Next up, get back onto the roof you were just on and head north, you'll see a Archer Guard below you. Jump down and kill him when you see a chance, then get onto the small hut house to the right of the bridge the Archer Guard was patrolling. To the west should be a Archer Guard. Go ahead and Blow Gun him dead, then run west and climb up to where he was and get onto the house near where he was and in the area is another Guard. Locate him and kill him, as he's usually walking around to the south. Once this is done, go ahead and go north to find the gate and to the right is a Health Potion, grab that and then enter the said gate. Once inside, there's a Innocent Person walking around, so head to the left side and make your way north carefully and at the end near the archway is a box with a Rice Ball inside. After you get this, through the archway there's a Guard patrolling. I suggest you get ontop of the wall next to the archway and crouch down and wait for a chance, then kill him. Next, jump up onto the wall to the east of you and nearby there's two Geishas here, so be careful. I've actually screwed this part up once and dropped down in front of one once and THEY Stealth Killed me...so that was bad. After you take out the two Geisha's here, head southwest and near the small wall here, climb up and you should see an Archer Guard patrolling about. However, there's another Claw Guard walking around nearby, so you need to be careful how you execute this. When the Claw Guard is out of sight, jump down and kill the Archer Guard and depending where he died, you may or may not have to move his body away or you can just leave him and let the Claw Guard find him for a easier Stealth Kill, but remain hidden. Now, once the Claw Guard is dead, head west and on the dock is a box with a Blow Gun inside. Once you get this, head up the building to the north of you, first by getting on the fence, then the roof and watch the Katana Guard below you and when you see a chance, drop and kill him. Finally, get back onto the house and to the north of you is the gate, but there's a Spear Guard patrolling. Again, when you see a oppertunity, leap down, Stealth Kill him and enter the door to begin a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - G. Chapter 4 - I Am Rin Of The Beniya . . . . . . . . . . . [ IAMRI6.7 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Chameleon Spell. Items In The Stage - Blow Gun x1, Flash Bomb x1, Health Potion x2 and Rice Ball x2. Strategy - I suggest you bring a couple Shuriken and all the Blow Guns you have, which should be a few, as this stage can get tricky at times. It's mainly cause until you reach past the natural stone walls and into the wooden ones, there's really no solid hiding places or good areas to lean up against for Stealth Kills, as well as the VERY annoying water on pathways that if you step on it. Basically, it sends anyone nearby into !? mode, which is a pain in the ass. Be careful and just crouch and walk or roll across water to avoid making noise. After the cutscene, head north and jump over the hole infront of you and you'll come to an outdoor area. Ahead of you is a Dog patrolling about. Depending on your luck, you may need 1 or 2 Shurikens to kill it, so go ahead and nail him with them. After this, continue north through a cave and grab the box here to get a Flash Bomb, then continue on till you come to the end where you'll see 1 or 2 Spear Guards here. Now, make sure you're leaning against the rock wall here, pearing over your character's right shoulder at the 1 stationary Guard and the 1 patrolling Guard. When the patrolling Guard comes near the stationary one and BOTH have their backs to you, run up inbetween them and attack to perform a Double Stealth Kill. Once you do this, to the south is a wooden structure, which if you use the Grappling Hook and get to the top, there's a Health Potion here. Once you get it, drop down and head east from where the dead Guards are into a cave. Inside, hug the left wall and at the end, stop and peer over and wait for a Katana Guard to walk over. Stay where you are and when he turns around, go ahead and Stealth Kill him. Next, RUSH north and turn left to see a Masked Guard walking away from you. Be quick and Stealth Kill him, then go back to where you killed the Katana Guard and go through the doorway here and up the path, but crouch down and inch your way up. You'll see an Archer Guard standing still, rotating his direction. When he's looking away from you, (He'll be sideways, but still won't see you.) run, jump over the pit in front of you and Stealth Kill him. Next up, crouch and to the west there's another Katana Guard patrolling. Wait till he turns, jump over the pit and kill him. Now, backtrack out of here and back where you killed the first Guard in this cave, head north, go west past the Guard you RUSHED and head through the doorway you see here. BE CAREFUL here, do not enter the room, but hug up against the open bar door and peer around to see where the Archer Guard is. If he's not overlooking the perch, enter the room, jump and hang from the ledge and wait for him to come to you. When he does and turns around, climb up and kill him, follow the path and jump down OVER the pit below to get two Rice Balls out of the box here. After this, backtrack out of the room and head north through the pathway here and you'll come to a path leading upwards, along with two doors, one to your left and one to your right. There should be a Masked Guard patrolling the path leading up. When he comes into view, Blow Gun him dead and then duck into the room to the west and hide and wait for a Katana Guard from the room to the east to walk out and down the hall. (Hopefully you killed the Masked Guard far enough for him not to see, otherwise you'll need to wait for him to go unalerted to Stealth Kill him.) When you see a chance, run out and kill him, then head into the door to the east and lean up against the left side of the wall inside the doorway and watch for a Katana Guard to come by. When he stops and turns around, run and Stealth Kill and then exit the room and head north up the path here and straight ahead on a bridge you'll see a Katana Guard. Wait until his back is to you, then run and Stealth Kill him. Next, up ahead should be a Archer Guard. Wait for him to appear and Blow Gun him dead, then run across the bridge and to your right is a box with a Blow Gun inside. Get this, then head downwards and follow the path down to appear below the bridge you just crossed. Across from you should be a Archer Guard. Blow Gun him dead, then backtrack and head to your left to find a river that'll warp you to another area of the stage. Now, in this area, you'll notice running water on the pathway. If you step on this without crouching or rolling, you'll make a noise that'll !? nearby Guards. When you enter this area, press up against the wall to your right and watch the Katana Guard here. Toss another Blow Gun at him and when the nearby Masked Guard finds him and becomes calm again, run up carefully and avoid the water and make your kill. Once he's dead head down the long hallway where you'll find that dead Archer Guard you killed a few minutes ago and grab the Health Potion you find. Next, follow the path all the way around and you'll enter a room, as you clear the stage and see a cutscene. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - H. Chapter 5 - Fated Reunions . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ FATRE6.8 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Invisible Spell. Items In The Stage - Hand Claws x1, Health Potion x3 and Spinner x3. Strategy - I suggest you bring a Grenade or two and all the Blow Guns you have. The boss you fight at the start of the stage really isn't that difficult and the Grenades are your insurance more than anything. Again, be careful of the water here and do what you did with Rin on it. Other than that, not too hard of a stage at all, as you're basically just back tracking to the start of the stage. After the cutscene, you're immediately thrown into a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Kumagorou - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Ahhhh! Bear! Nah, he's pretty easy. Again, R2 Button lock onto him and wait for him to charge at you and side step, then run in and go nuts with combos. Also, when he stands on his hind legs and slashes, run around to his back and combo him again. Very, very easy Boss. After Kumagorou is defetated, head out of the room and in the hallway to your left is a box that holds a Health Potion. Next, lean up against the wall to your right and at the end, you'll see a Katana Guard patrolling. Wait for your chance, then Stealth Kill him and continue on to find a stationary Katana Guard ahead of you. Use a Blow Gun on him and then wait for a Masked Guard nearby to find him. If you don't see him come to inspect his friend's body, head down the path and hug the left wall and at the end, watch his movements and when you're ready, roll across the water so you don't make any sound and then when you're behind him, kill him. Next, turn around and straight down the path ahead of you should be a Katana Guard. Watch him and when he turns around, roll across the water and rush him and kill him. After this, run down the hall where you just killed the Katana Guard and at the end, hug the right wall and peek around to watch for yet another Katana Guard here. Make your move when you see fit and afterwards, back up and wait for a Female Guard to appear at the otherside of the gap. Use a Blow Gun on her and then backtrack down the path and take a right to enter the river and go to another part of the Stage. In the next part, lean against the wall to the left and wait for the two Guards to finish their conversation. When the Female Guard walks away, Blow Gun the Katana Guard and then hide and after the Female Guard finds him, go ahead and kill her once she's become calm again. Next, near the Katana Guard is a box with Hand Claws inside, so take those and then get onto the bridge to the west. Ahead of you will be a Katana Guard. The SECOND he turns his back, rush in and kill him, then jump over the gap to the west and look ahead of you and wait. A Masked Guard will appear below you. When he turns to go into the room to the south, rush in and kill him, and drag his body away from the door if it's near it, other wise leave it and lean up against the left side of the door here leading into the room. You'll see a Katana Guard walk by, stop and turn around. When he does, kill him and take the Health Potion inside the box you find here, then exit the room the way you came and head west down the pathway and stop when you see a Guard and when he turns around, rush in, kill him, cancel the animation scene and hide. Another Guard nearby will notice this, but when he returns to normal, watch him and then make your move. Once he's dead, head west now and before entering the next corridor, watch for a Female Guard to appear and then turn her back and walk away. When she walks away, be quick to kill her before she turns around midway. Once she's dead, continue on and when you reach the top of a slope, use a Blow Gun to kill a Katana Guard below you, then crouch and move back a bit. When a Guard nearby finds him and returns to normal, run down and kill him, then roll into the cave to your right and grab the box here to obtain 3 Spinners. Continue inside the cave and near the end, watch for a Claw Guard patrolling here. When he turns around, kill him, cancel the animation scene and retreat backwards, as another Guard will notice his dead companion. When he returns to normal, take your time and finish him off, then simply head south and jump across the gap and you'll complete the Stage. Now, if you were sighted at least once in this Stage, you will go onto Chapter 6.1 - The Blind Masseuse. If you weren't sighted at all, you'll go onto Chapter 6.2 - What Lurks In The Shadow. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - I. Chapter 6.1 - The Blind Masseuse . . . . . . . . . . . . [ THBLM6.9 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Invisible Spell. Items In The Stage - Explosive Box x1, Health Potion x1, Map x1 and Shuriken x5, Strategy - Ok, you have a couple options here. First off, this Stage has an optional final boss. Meaning, you can fight him or you can choose the easy way and not fight him. Either has no true impact on the game, just a different scene at the end of the Stage, mainly with the same end result. Nasu is, a VERY good fighter and you fight in a VERY small room. This Stage is a pain in the ass, so if you truly don't want to possibly die the first time through, take the easy way. If not, if you wish to fight him, take the hard way. Easy way - Don't bring more than 1 Grenade and 1 Bamboo Gun. Hard way - Bring 2 of each and a Ninja Rebirth. Load up on Blow Guns despite your decision, you will need them. Note: In order to play this Stage you must not have been noticed at all in Chapter 5. Also, at the start of the Stage, behind you are some paper lanterns. You can leap up and pull yourself up to the top of them and fall down into a hidden area in the river, which leads to a shortcut. This brings you to the bridge where you fight the halfway Boss Battle. You CAN do this and skip the first half of the walkthrough and procede to fight Ayame, but otherwise, read on to play through the normal way. Note that in this secret area, on the roof of the shed is a box with a Explosive Box. After the cutscene, immediately run across the bridge and Stealth Kill the Katana Guard ahead of you, cancel the animation and pick his body up and drop it over to the right out of the path and lean up against the small little wall here. Another Katana Guard will appear near the bridge and stop to glance where the other Guard had been moments ago, then turn to walk away. As he does, run out and kill him as well. Next, make sure above where you were hiding, a Katana Guard isn't there and then climb up the first ledge, then hang on the second and watch the Katana Guard. He'll come right over to the ledge, but never notice you. Once he turns around, jump up and kill him. Next, to your left is a small fence with a small area, to which you can crouch and roll behind and not be seen. Do so and continuiously roll to the end and to your right will be a Masked Guard patrolling. Do not stand up until his back is to you, then leap out and kill him. To the left of where you killed him is a box with a Health Potion inside, so take that and then look below you. You should see a Claw Guard, if not, wait and he'll walk up and remain still for a moment. When he turns around to continue patrolling, leap down, kill him and then jump onto the roof to your left and crouch. When the nearby Innocent isn't looking, roll off the roof and head straight ahead right behind a small fence and remain still, as there's a Katana Guard right by you. He'll never see you, if you remain crouching, so just remain doing so. When you see a chance, leap up, kill him and then crouch and roll to the door straight ahead. In this new area, do not get onto the roof ahead of you and crouch, as I've found each time the Geisha has noticed me, somehow. What you want to do is crouch and roll to your right behind the fence and watch the Geisha and kill her when you see a chance. After this, procede to get onto the roof that was ahead of you at the start of this area and wait for a Claw Guard to appear on the road below. He may or may not notice the dead Geisha, so depending what happens, kill him accordingly when you get a chance. Once he's dead, drop down to the left of the roof and stay behind the fence and crouch and roll to the end where a Katana Guard is patrolling. When you get a chance, Stealth Kill him as well. Once this is done, simple follow the path to find the bridge and walk onto it to start a Boss Battle... Note: If you took the shortcut at the very beginning, you'll appear to the right of the bridge in the water. Even if you're sighted, just immediately run to the bridge to start the Boss Battle. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Ayame - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Urgh, she's a bitch. Not sure about you, but I hate using Rin in close combat, she's just so...weak. Anyway, your best bet is to wait until Ayame attacks and then avoid and attack yourself, but for an easy win, shoot her with a Bamboo Gun, 2 Cannons or 2 Grenades. After the cutscene and when you're back in control, use your Grappling Hook and aim for the building's roof to the right of the door. You should land on the middle ledge, so just leap up onto the roof after. Crouch and below you, watch for a Katana Guard and when you can, fall and Stealth Kill him and then get back onto the roof. Look around for a Geisha, as she may or may not find the dead Katana Guard. Either way, when the situation arises, kill her as well. Next, to north is another Katana Guard patrolling near a rather big house, which marked on your map, is where Nasu practices..."masseusing". Anyway, watch his movements and leap down and kill him, then get back onto the roof and head the most northeastern house here and look for another Geisha walking around. Careful of the Innocent here and when you see a chance, drop, kill her, then head into the courtyard area of Nasu's House. On the roof is a small crawl space you can enter here. Do so and once inside, check to your right for a box with 5 Shuriken here. Next, head to your left and drop down the hole, and hug the wall and stay near the door. A Geisha will come close and even walk through the door, however, step out infront of her and in the moment of surprise, attack her to get a Stealth Kill, cancel the animation and immediately run up the stairs, Grapple Hook back up and wait. The Masked Guard will find the dead Geisha, so when he returns to normal, rush down and rush into the room, as you should be behind him now, so just Stealth Kill him. Next, in the corner is a Health Potion, so grab it and then you need to make a choice. Below the barrels in this room is a crawl space with a box that holds a Map of Nasu's House. If you choose to get it, you will unlock Chapter 7.2 - For Whom The Bell Tolls. If you don't get it, you will instead unlock Chapter 7.1 - A Sister's Promise. Now, after you decide, to your left is a doorway, with 3 Guards inside. First, try to lure one Guard away by standing near the door and insight to get caught. The Katana Guard should give you a ! sign and come to inspect what he saw. Simply hide and when he arrives, gives up and turns around, rush and kill him. Next, inside the doorway, look to your left to see another Katana Guard. Use a Blow Gun on him, then look up to your left up the stairs. There's a Claw Guard here, which you need to kill. Either get in close, Blow Gun him or crouch up the stairs and kill him when a chance arises. When this is done, you have another choice. Down below there are two paths. If you choose the path all the way to the right, you'll go down into a small basement, which a cutscene will take place and you will not fight Nasu. If you wish to fight Nasu, take the path to the left and you'll enter a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Nasu - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Wow, for a blind guy, he's really, really damn good. This little rapist is very skilled with a sword and if he nails you with it, he'll do a series of combo attacks. Also, when he stands still slowly putting his sword away, if you attack him immediately, he'll do a "Stealth Kill" that can really hurt you, but will not kill you if you have enough Hit Points. However, if you wait a few seconds after he starts and attack him, he won't do it and it's a free shot for you to combo him. The room you're in is very small, so avoiding him is hard altogether. I suggest you just Bamboo Gun, Cannon or Grenade him for the win. Alternatively, if you took the eastern most path hugging the right wall to him, instead of the left wall, you won't fight him at all and instead see a different cutscene. Regardless of what path you took, after the cutscene, you'll be in Nasu's Room. Lean up against the white design on the door in his room to enter a hidden area. Inside, don't move, as ahead is a Geisha. If you have a Blow Gun left, move in close and hit her while she's in ! mode. Otherwise, wait and rush in to kill her when she starts going down the stairs. After this, head down the stairs and turn left to complete the Stage. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - J. Chapter 6.2 - What Lurks In The Shadow . . . . . . . . [ WLITS6.10 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Invisible Spell. Items In The Stage - Explosive Box x1 and Shuriken x5. Strategy - Ok, you have a couple options here. Note: In order to play this Stage you must have have been noticed at least once Chapter 5. After the cutscene, immediately fall into the pit near the bridge, then Grapple Hook up onto the side of the bridge and hang there. Wait for the Geisha to come by and when she turns around, climb up and kill her. Next, head north and climb up the two ledges and once up top, to your left is a small fenced area. Crouch and roll behind this to the end and watch the Geisha you see here. When her back's turned, leap out, kill her and then pick her body up and drop it near the ledge at the back of the dead end below. (Just stand near the edge and let go of her body, when she drops, she'll simply fall below.) Next, head south to the ledge where you first climbed up and to your left, is a slope leading down. Stand at the top to get a ! sign and when you do, immediately duck behind the fence behind you and roll all the way to where you hid to kill the Geisha. Now, this MIGHT just have been my game, I'm not sure, but there's a glitch where the Katana Guard will get stuck when he comes up to investigate and he just turns in circles over and over. If this happens, stand up QUICK and then duck back down. Keep doing this until you get a ! and then roll away from where you were, as the Katana Guard will come to check. As he does, leap out, run behind him and kill him. (Note: If he doesn't get stuck, just make sure to stand up fast and get a ! from him. If not, just repeat this by standing near the slope and getting him to come up again.) Once he's dead, near where you killed the Geisha, look downward for a Claw Guard to be patrolling. When you see a chance, leap down, kill him and then jump onto the roof to your left and crouch. In this new area, jump onto the roof of the house ahead of you and below you to the north should be a Katana Guard. Blow Gun him dead, then drop down and follow the path to the left and be careful, as there's a Innocent walking about. Doing this fast enough, she SHOULD be near the bridge. Just wait until she's past the bridge before running towards it, as even if she spots you, it won't hurt your ranking too much. Once on the bridge, you'll enter a Boss Battle... Now, you have a choice. As far as I've seen, you don't need to kill anyone else here, as you have an Assassin Rank already. However, just for fun, there is a Katana Guard and 2 Geisha Guards walking around the building you're on. To the far NE is a Katana Guard and Claw Guard patrolling and another Geisha to the west in this area, so have fun. Just keep to the roof tops and drop down, kill, go back to the roof after. Not too hard. Anyway, when you're ready, head to the large house to the northwest and on the roof is a small crawl space that you can enter. Do so and once inside, check to your right for a box with 5 Shuriken here. Next, head to your left and drop down the hole, and hug the wall and stay near the door. A Geisha will come close and even walk through the door, however, step out infront of her and in the moment of surprise, attack her get a Stealth Kill, cancel the animation and immediately run up the stairs, Grapple Hook back up and wait. The Masked Guard will find the dead Geisha, so when he returns to normal, rush down and rush into the room, as you should be behind him now, so just Stealth Kill him. Next up, you need to make a choice now. Now, after you decide, you have another choice. In the next room, there's two paths. Inside, follow the path and head down the stairs and head left to finish this Stage. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - K. Chapter 7.1 - A Sister's Promise . . . . . . . . . . . [ ASISP6.11 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Ninja Armor. Items In The Stage - Amulet x1, Decoy Bell x2, Egg x1 and Health Potion x1. Strategy - I suggest you bring 1-2 Invisibly Spells with you for this run, as it makes the Stage much easier to get through. Also bring all the Blow Guns you have. Note: In order to be able to play this game you must have not gotten the Map with Rin in Chapter 6.1/6.2. After the cutscene, a Masked Guard will be patrolling the stairs ahead of you. Simple crouch and move over and wait for a chance to kill him, then do so and head left through the door. Next, head down the stairs and lean up against the left side of the wall and watch the Old Man Guard and the Masked Guard's pattern. When both are turned around, run up, kill one of them, cancel the animation scene and then kill the other. After this, at the top of the stairs, look down and a Katana Guard will come into sight. Blow Gun him dead, then carefully make your way down, but watch for the Old Man Guard behind the gate, as he might see you. Head left now and enter the crawl space, grab the box nearby for a Amulet and then Grapple Hook over to the ledge when the Katana Guard isn't looking and Stealth Kill him when you have a chance. Next, backtrack to where you killed the first two Guards and you'll see a a weird white/black pattern on the wall. Lean up against the door to enter a new area. Now the fun begins. Use a Invisibility Scroll and bum rush the two Guards around the corner, drop down into the pit to the left of them, kill the Old Man Guard here, follow the path, kill the other Old Man Guard and IF the spell hasn't worn, make haste up the slope straight ahead and finish off the Female Guard here. Good job if you got this far. If you didn't get the Female Guard, simply stay back, watch her movement and after she turns around, run in and kill her. (Note: Do NOT drop down into the area to the right of where you just killed the two Guards, it's a deathtrap. You want to fall down into a new area that's to the left of them. However, in the pit is a box with 2 Decoy Bells, but they're really not worth the trouble.) After this, at the top of the stairs there's a Egg on the shelf if you want it, otherwise, head over to the sliding door, use your other Invisibility Spell and enter, bum rush the Old Man Guard, follow the path, kill the Female Guard, take a right and head up the stairs and kill the Old Man Guard and Masked Guard here. After this, head south through another sliding door to find a Health Potion in this room. Finally, exit this room, head left and follow the path around to enter a room which will start a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Shinogi - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Well, Shinogi's...different. He fights with 3 swords, the third in his mouth and likes to kick up sand to blind and stun you temporarily. The best bet is to R2 Button lock onto him and avoid him, but be careful, when he attacks he does it 3-5 times, so careful on approaching him for your own attack. Other than that he's pretty easy, nothing you can't handle and if it looks bad, Grenade him. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - L. Chapter 7.2 - For Whom The Bell Tolls . . . . . . . . . [ FWTBT6.12 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Ninja Armor. Items In The Stage - Amulet x1, Dokuto Blades x1, Health Potion x1 and Spinner x1. Strategy - I suggest you bring 1-2 Invisibly Spells with you for this run, as it makes the Stage much easier to get through. Also bring all the Blow Guns you have. Note: In order to be able to play this game you must have gotten the Map with Rin in Chapter 6.1/6.2. After the cutscene, head up the steps and run through the sliding door and Stealth Kill the Masked Guard standing here. Next, head down the stairs and lean up against the left side of the wall and watch the Old Man Guard and the Masked Guard's pattern. When both are turned around, run up, kill one of them, cancel the animation scene and then kill the other. After this, at the top of the stairs, grab the Health Potion you see, then head over to the weird white/black pattern on the wall. Lean up against the door to enter a new area. Now the fun begins. Use a Invisibility Scroll and bum rush the two Guards around the corner, drop down into the pit to the left of them, follow the path around, kill the Old Man Guard here, then bang a left down the hall and kill the Female Guard you come across. (Note: Do NOT drop down into the area to the right of where you just killed the two Guards, it's a deathtrap. You want to fall down into a new area that's to the left of them.) Good job if you got this far. If you didn't get the Female Guard, simply stay back, watch her movement and after she turns around, run in and kill her. After this, head over to the sliding door, use your other Invisibility Spell and enter, bum rush the first Guard here, follow the path, kill the next Guard here, take a right and head up the stairs and kill another Guard, then head left through another sliding door and kill the final Guard here. Whew. Also, in this room, since you followed my walkthrough (Hopefully.) down to the last word, you didn't hit the switch at the start of the level, so the layout didn't change, thus a box is in this room. Inside are Ayame's alternative weapon, the Dokuto Blades. They are stronger than her normal Katanas and also inflict Poison onto any enemy that's hit with these. AWESOME to have anytime after this, as Poison ROCKS. Anyway, if you wish, backtrack to the first sliding door and in the room with the first Guard you killed on your second Invisibility Scroll, there's a box here with a Amulet inside. Next, near where you killed the second Guard, there's a pit with a box, holding a Spinner inside. Either way, once you're ready, from where you got the Dokuto Blades, exit the room and go left and follow the path around to enter a room which will start a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - M. Chapter 8 - A Task Without Reward . . . . . . . . . . . [ ATAWR6.13 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Ninja Armor. Items In The Stage - Cannon x1. Strategy - Bring all the Blow Guns you have, this Stage is so very annoying. Pretty much anywhere you hide you run a risk of getting caught, just a really thorn in your side level. You want to keep moving and you want to kill fast, there's only...I believe 10 Guards here, so kill fast and move fast. Also, bring a few Shuriken for the Dog enemies here. After the cutscene, Grapple Hook up the left side of the wall and crouch and observe the two Archer Guards. When the one on the pillar has his back to you, jump over to him, kill him, then leap down and kill the other one. Next, go back ontop of the wall where you started off at and on the right side of it, you should see a patrolling Spear Guard. Use a Blow Gun on him, then head down and up the road and stop when you hear a conversation. Run and go back where you were and wait, as a Guard will come patrolling up. Watch him and when you see a chance, drop and kill him, then head onto a smaller roof nearby and crouch low. Use a Shuriken or two on the Dog you see here, then nearby, there's a Guard near the roof you're on. Watch below you and when you see a oppertunity, drop and kill him. Next up, continue on the path now and you'll come to another Katana Guard here, near a big rock. When he goes behind it, run in and kill him from behind, then head west down the slope to find another Guard. Watch his movement and strike him when you see a chance. Continue north and you'll see yet another Guard near a river. Simply watch his movement and kill him when you spot your chance. Now, there's a patrolling Archer Guard nearby as well. When you can get a chance, Blow Gun him dead and you've cleared all the Guards in the Stage. Head north on the path and near the end you'll find a box with a Cannon inside. Now, don't continue on just yet, but instead backtrack to where there's a waterfall and a bridge. Go onto that bridge, but DO NOT CROSS OVER. On the other side of the bridge is a fence wall with a VERY small stepping area in front of it. To the west there's a box. Jump at the fence and you should land on the very, very small patch of land. Shimmy over to the west and when you have to, jump over to reach the box. (I found just smashing jump when I felt I couldn't go any farther worked pretty well, since the ground for the box was..."slippery" in a way.) Inside you'll get Rin's alternative weapon, the Demon Claws. They, unlike the Dokuto Blades are always active, making Rin's normal punches much stronger. Whenever you're ready, from where you were on that bridge before you got the Demon Claws, go ahead and cross over now to get a cutscene, as you finish this Stage. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - N. Chapter 9 - Foreign Lands . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ FORLA6.14 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Fire Spell. Items In The Stage - Dog Bone x1, Health Potion x1 and Mine x1. Strategy - Like Chapter 5, you're going to be immediately thrown into a Boss Battle, so be ready. I suggest you get 1 Smoke Bomb, 1 Grenade, all the Blow Guns you have and maybe 1 Health Potion. Other than that, this is a pretty short Stage to say the least. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: 3 Assassins - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Can be easy or hard. They're just typical Guards, I suggest you bring 1-2 Grenades, maybe 1 Smoke Bomb and have at it. If you leave the Masked Samurai Guard alive, you'll see a cutscene and it will also effect the next route in the game. Note: If you leave the Katana Guard alive and kill the other two, you will go onto Chapter 10.2 - Flames of Sorrow. If you killed all three, you'll go onto Chapter 10.1 - Flames of Passion. After the fight, head north and on the ledge there'll be a Health Potion. Take it and climb up and crouch foward to hear a conversation between two Guards. To your right, down in the woods is a Katana Guard, which, you should asap nail with a Blow Gun, then look ahead of you to see a Female Guard. When she gets in range, shoot her with a Blow Gun and then to your left, watch for a Old Man Guard to start patrolling. When you see a chance, drop down and kill them, then get back up to where you were and walk over to the edge and drop down after seeing where the Masked Guard below you is. Kill him, then head to your left to find a box with a Mine inside. Next up, climb up the ledge ahead of you and immediately Blow Gun the patrolling Claw Guard, then drop back down. Head to your right and watch the Old Man Guard's stationary movement pattern to the north and when you see a chance, run in, climb the ledge and kill him. Once you do this, head to your left as far as you can go and climb up onto the wall here and observe. There's a Old Man Guard and a Dog here. If you have any Shuriken, use them, otherwise, Blow Gun the Dog, then drop and kill the Old Man Guard. After this, simply follow the path up and at the stop, head to your right, hugging the fence wall to find a box with a Dog Bone inside. Finally, just follow the path all the way over to the south and you'll enter a cutscene. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - O. Chapter 10.1 - Flames Of Passion . . . . . . . . . . . [ FLOPA6.15 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Fake Rat. Items In The Stage - Egg x1, Flash Bomb x1 and Health Potion x2. Strategy - In my opinion, this was the most annoying Stage. Mainly since you can get a instant death if you fall off the cliff and because a few of the kills here were really hard to pull off. For that, I strongly urge you bring 1 (2 if you have them.) Invisibility Spell and all the Blow Guns you have. Note: To play this Stage you must have killed all three Guards at the start of Chapter 9. After the cutscene, get onto the roof in front of you and crouch, observing the two Staff Monk Guards. When one of them starts to come near you, walking by the river side, watch the other one and the second the other one turns to walk away, jump over the river from the roof top and kill the Staff Monk Guard close to you, then quickly run up and kill the other one, as he's just turning around. Once he's dead, return to where you started to get a Health Potion, which is nearby. After this, continue on the path and when you come to being able to go left or right, Grapple Hook up onto the ledge above you. Shimmy to the right and carefully watch the Staff Monk Guard here and when he turns around, leap up and kill him. Next, below you to your left a bit is a small shed. However, directly below is a patrolling Staff Monk Guard. When you see a chance, jump down and kill him, then look around the shed for a box with a Health Potion inside. After this, head right and you'll see a stationary Monk Staff Guard ahead of you, across a giant gap. Above the guard's head is a tree branch, which you can Grapple Hook onto. Get near the edge of the cliff, aim at it and you'll hang from the branch. Pull yourself up and you'll stand on it. Now just wait for a chance to drop down and kill the guard. Now, here comes the hard part, sort of. I suggest you use your Invisibility Spell now and run in and bum rush the two guards in this area, then across from the broken bridge is a patrolling guard. Get close to the ledge and when he comes down near the other side of the bridge and Blow Gun him dead. After this, behind the shed in this area is a box with a Flash Bomb inside. Once you get this, near the bridge, drop down to the small ledge below and then jump onto the side of the bridge and shimmy yourself all the way across and then climb up to the other side. Once here, hang from the ledge above you and watch the guard here as he patrols. When he turns around, climb up fast and go kill him. After this, if you have another Invisibility Spell, use it now after you run down, but before you cross the bridge. There's two guards here, just make short work of them. If you haven't got another spell, head down the path and observe the guard here and Blow Gun him dead. Another guard nearby might notice this, wait a few seconds to see, if not, from the bridge, Grapple Hook up onto the huge ledge near you and hang there, watching the other guard patrol. When you see a chance, kill him and grab the box nearby to get a Egg, then go ahead and enter the door here to enter a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Futaba & Hitoha - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Another easy Boss Battle, however it can easily turn ugly. If you choose to kill Futaba first, Hitoha becomes enraged and becomes 10 times harder to defeat, along with a bunch of devastating attacks. So, if you want to do this the easy way, kill Hitoha first, then Futaba. Futaba uses her crossbow on her arm to shoot darts at you, as well as can shoot some in the air and a bunch of them at you all at once. As for Hitoha, he likes to just do a bunch of physical attack combos which hurt, but when enraged he can do a fire wave, which is like a crescent when released on the ground around him, as well as releasing 5 Grenades at once while in the air. He also can do a charging attack with his fist that HURTS, as well as he can counter your attacks sometimes. Again, it can be easy or hard, so make your choice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - P. Chapter 10.2 - Flames Of Sorrow . . . . . . . . . . . . [ FLOSO6.16 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Fake Rat. Items In The Stage - Firework x1, Health Potion x2 and Rice Ball x2. Note: To play this Stage you must not have killed the Katana Guard at the start of Chapter 9. Once he's dead, near the archway is the first red statue you need to turn, so just go near it to get a cutscene. Once this is done, near the candle holder there's a Health Potion, so take that and continue on the path. When you come to being able to go left or right, head left down the path but do NOT turn right to continue on. There's some shrubbery here, hide behind this and just make sure you see a Monk Staff Guard coming along the path. Immediately run back and go around the corner and lean up against the wall to watch him as he comes near. When he turns away, run in and kill him. After this, Grapple Hook up the cliff to your right and crouch the SECOND you pull yourself up, as a Old Man Guard might notice you. If not, you're good. Observe him below you and when you see a chance, drop in and kill him. Next up, ahead of you should be a small shed. Drop down and then get onto the roof and get close to the edge where you'll hear two guards talking. When they finish and one moves to walk away, drop inbetween them and attack immediately for a Double Stealth Kill. (Don't worry, you won't fall off the ledge, but one of the dead bodies will.) Once they're dead, near the shed is the second status you need to turn, so go near it to turn it. Afterwards, continue on the path and you'll come to a big gap in the path. Head over to the edge and make your way across to your right to enter a dead end area, with the third statue. Turn it, then make your way back carefully. Near the edge, across the way there's a tree branch here. Use your Grappling Hook on it and you'll latch onto it. Drop down and continue onwards, but stop midway up the slope here. Now, here comes the hard part, sort of. I suggest you use your Invisibility Spell now and run in and bum rush the three guards in this area, then across from the broken bridge is a patrolling guard. Get close to the ledge and when he comes down near the other side of the bridge and Blow Gun him dead. After this, behind the shed in this area is a box with a Health Potion, then turn the fourth statue near the shed here as well. Once you get this, near the bridge, drop down to the small ledge below and then jump onto the side of the bridge and shimmy yourself all the way across and then climb up to the other side. Once here, continue on and get the box in this area to get a Firework, then turn the fifth statue. After this, continue on onto the small bridge and stop and to your right, grapple over to the small area you see to find the six statue and then Grapple Hook up the big ledge to your left and crouch down. Ahead of you is a stationary guard. Use a Blow Gun on him, then to your left below you is another guard. Watch his movement and then drop in and kill him. Near here is a box with 2 Rice Balls inside, so take them and then head through the door in this area to enter a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Q. Chapter 11 - A Dance Of Swords . . . . . . . . . . . . [ ADOSW6.17 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Ayame. Item Rewarded For Grand Master - Decoy Whistle. Items In The Stage - Decoy Bell x1, Grenade x1 and Health Potion x2. Strategy - This Stage is actually pretty simple, really. Again, bring any Blow Guns you have and possibly a Bamboo Gun and Grenade as well. This is your typical "Run around, kill guards, yay" Stage, nothing really challenging about it at all, so feel free to relax some. After the cutscene, run over to your right and you'll see a Archer Guard moving away from you. Run up and kill him, then ahead below you a bit is a patrolling Spear Guard. Wait for an oppertunity to kill him to arise and then kill him as well. Now, there's two tunnels here. Stand just above the slope leading into the tunnel to the left and wait for a guard ahead near the wall to appear. When he does, quickly Blow Gun him dead, then run forward and take a left and follow the path to the otherwide of the wall and climb up and hang on it and wait. The guard you just killed will be noticed, but don't worry. When everything's calm, climb up and crouch and observe the guard that's coming near you. Watch for the guard walking around the shed and when he turns out of sight, drop in and kill the guard near you and then wait again. The guard patrolling the house stops briefly here and there, but doesn't turn around, so when his back is to you, run in and kill him. After this, look around the area for a box with a Decoy Bell inside, then head into the next area and look for a Health Potion here. After this, drop into the water here while crouching and then enter the crawl space to enter another new area. In the next area, jump up and hang onto the ledge here and when you see a chance, kill the Archer Guard here. Afterwards, head to your right and watch for a Katana Guard. When he's out of view, get onto the roof of the house here and watch his movements. Drop and kill him when you get a chance, then backtrack to where you killed the Archer Guard and head up the steps nearby and get onto to the roof of the house here. You'll hear a conversation, which crouch and walk over to the edge and two guards are here. When they stop and turn around, drop between them and attack immediately to get a Double Stealth Kill. Immediately retreat afterwards and look for the Geisha near the playhouse. When you see her, watch her and kill her when the chance presents itself, then search the area for a box with a Grenade inside and head into the playhouse. There's two crawl spaces here, take the one to the left and in the next area, don't leave the crawl space right away, wait until a Geisha appears and when she walks away, get up, run in and kill her, then quickly run up the staircase nearby, avoiding the Innocent patrolling near you. Grab the Health Potion up here, then jump onto the stage below and you'll enter a Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Ranzou - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Ah, the sicko that likes to torture women. Ranzou likes to use two Katanas together at the hilt and despite his appearence, he's pretty easy. However, if in the fight you take over 1 1/2 minutes and he's not dead, he'll escape and you'll go to a different part of the next mission. On the other hand, his attacks are basically just normal slashes and this black pentagram that he releases under you to freeze you so he can attack. When you see this, move or jump away. Other than that, just R2 Button target him, counter his attacks (Or rush him and attack, I find he doesn't Guard a whole lot.) and take him down. Depending on your actions, if you let Ranzou escape, you'll head onto Chapter 12.1 - Tenchu Kurenai. If you killed Ranzou, you'll instead head onto Chapter 12.2 - Tenchu Kurenai. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - R. Chapter 12.1 - Tenchu Kurenai . . . . . . . . . . . . [ TENKUR6.18 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character - Rin. Item Rewarded For Assassin - Sleeping Gas. Items In The Stage - Grenade x1 and Health Potion x1. Strategy - Well, this is it, the final Stage. I highly suggest you bring a Ninja Rebirth, all the Blow Guns you have, your Demon Claws, Amulet, Ninja Armor and Bamboo Guns. The Stage itself is pretty easy, however Jyuzou himself is NO cake walk. Note: In order to play this Stage, you must have let Ranzou escape in Chapter 11 - A Dance Of Swords. After the cutscene, get out of sight and up ahead you'll see a Claw Guard walking past you ahead. When he stops and turns around, run up and kill him, then from where you started, hug the wall to the left and wait for the Old Man Guard to find the dead guard. When he's calm, rush out and kill him, then head down the path toward the bridge. Hug the wall to the left and at the end, observe the Claw Guard here. When you see a chance, kill him and then head across the bridge (Be careful of the Innocent patrolling around to the right of the bridge, make sure he doesn't see you.) and hug the left side of the door here. There's a Katana Guard here patrolling. Watch his movement and run in and kill him when you see the chance. After this, from the door, head right and stop at the slope leading down and lean up against the wall to the left and watch the Katana Guard below. When you see a chance, run in, kill him and then run back up to where you killed the last guard and head down the steps and to your right there's a roof here. Jump onto it while crouching and watch below you. An Old Man Guard should be patrolling near the fence thing ahead of you. When he gets close, Blow Gun him dead, then jump down and head to the right to the set of stairs here. Jump onto the banister on the stairs here at the bottom and leap at the fence straight ahead. You should catch onto it and when you do, pull yourself up and onto the roof here. Observe the Masked Guard here and when you see a chance, drop down, kill him, get the box nearby with a Health Potion inside and then enter the door you see. (Note: In the southwestern part of this area is a possible spot where Manjirou is, so take the time to see if he's there.) In this area, immediately head left to possibly encounter Manjirou. If you do, watch the scene. If he's not there, either way, Grapple Hook up to the area above you and crouch. Head to the edge to the east and watch the Female Guard here. Blow Gun her dead, then head north and look down below you to see a Katana Guard here. When you see a chance, drop down and kill him, then climb back up, head back down to where you grappled up and head over to the other side of this area and get ontop of the wooden platform here. At the far end, watch the Katana Guard here and when you see a chance, kill him. Now, to the north is a Female Guard and a Old Man Guard, which the latter is in a watchtower. Blow Gun the Old Man Guard and then observe the Female Guard. Get in close to her and hide and when you see a chance, kill her. Now, you got a choice here. If Manjirou was in this area where I told you he'd be, you're all set for Assassin Rank and you're ready for the final two Bosses and can head through the door to the north. However, if Manjirou wasn't here, then you need to head through the door to the east. If so, ignore this and head right onto the Boss Battle after the next couple paragraphs. (Note: Near the door to the east is a box with a Grenade, so grab it. Also nearby is another spot where Manjirou could be, he's to the south of the east door.) In this area, crouch and then kill the Katana Guard ahead of you, then there should be a small crawl space near you. Enter it to find a box with a Amulet inside, then in the northwestern part of this area is the final spot where Manjirou could be. Once you find him, there's 5 guards in this area, 3 are around the houses, 1 is to the right of the gate and another is south, near a drop point from the very start of the stage. Observe and take out each of them if you wish, however they're all optional, so it's your call. When you're ready, exit the way you came and then head through the door to the north of you and gear up for the second to last Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle: Shou - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - A guitar playing pretty boy, Shou's actually pretty weak. His guitar doubles as a machine gun, but he's easy to avoid and easy to hit. Just be careful of his gun and move in to attack when he shoots and you'll easily win. After the battle, you'll see a long cutscene and then enter the final Boss Battle... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Boss Battle Final: Jyuzou - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Whew, ok. Jyuzou is, without a doubt, insane. The guy has some very good parrying and blocking skills and the first time I fought him head on, I didn't land ONE blow. Anyway, the best bet you have for him is wait until he does a charging rush at you and dodge and then counter him. That or you can attempt to rush him and hopefully hit him when he slashes at you himself, you could get lucky, which I've done this a few times. Also, be VERY careful of his charging move, sometimes he does a stronger version and goes farther than normal. If you're caught in this, he does a "Stealth Kill", but it only takes off about 1/2 of your Hit Points, which can be devastating. Also, most weapons don't work on him, as in Grenades and such, as he bounces them off with his Umbrella. However, Bamboo Gun and Cannon seem to work ok, as everything else just doesn't. Once Jyuzou is down, watch the cutscene and enjoy the ending! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - S. Chapter 12.2 - Tenchu Kurenai . . . . . . . . . . . . Enjoy the ending and wonder if that was really Rikimaru touching Ayame's shoulder, heh heh. Hopefully in the next game, he will make his return. Anyway, go for Red Blade Mode now and enjoy that, along with the alternative Stages for each level. With that said, I hope my walkthrough helped you, so take care and I hope you enjoyed Tenchu: Fatal Shadows! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = [ VII. Rin . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ RI7.1 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - She's pretty easy. Repeat until she falls. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - B. Tatsukichi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ TATSU7.2 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - As Ayame said, "Are you serious?" She's pretty weak, a few slashes will take her down. Alternatively, if you wanna see the next cutscene after you kill her in a different way, as the battle begins, run up and while holding the Left Analog Stick toward her, get close and hit the Circle Button and instead of a throw, Ayame will knock her in the neck and she'll fall over. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - C. Kumagorou . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ KUMA7.3 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Ahhhh! Bear! Nah, he's pretty easy. Again, R2 Button lock onto him and wait for him to charge at you and side step, then run in and go nuts with combos. Also, when he stands on his hind legs and slashes, run around to his back and combo him again. Very, very easy Boss. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - D. Ayame . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ AYAM7.4 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Urgh, she's a bitch. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - E. Nasu . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ NAS7.5 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Wow, for a blind guy, he's really, really damn good. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - F. Shinogi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ SHIN7.6 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Well, Shinogi's...different. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - G. 3 Assassins . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ ASSA7.7 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Can be easy or hard. They're just typical Guards, I suggest you bring 1-2 Grenades, maybe 1 Smoke Bomb and have at it. If you leave the Masked Samurai Guard alive, you'll see a cutscene and it will also effect the next route in the game. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - H. Futaba & Hitoha . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ FUHI7.8 ]- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Another easy Boss Battle, however it can easily turn ugly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - I. Ranzou . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ RANZ7.9 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Ah, the sicko that likes to torture women. Jyuzou . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ JYUZ.11 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy - Whew, ok. Jyuzou is, without a doubt, insane. The guy has some very good parrying and blocking skills and the first time I fought him head on, I didn't land ONE blow. Also, most weapons don't work on him, as in Grenades and such, as he bounces them off with his Umbrella. However, Bamboo Gun and Cannon seem to work ok, as everything else just doesn't. Anyway, keep at it and don't be afraid to use Health Potions here and hopefully you have your Ninja Armor on, as well as a Amulet and Strength Potion, Sacrifice Potion and Ninja Rebirth, as those all help. Good luck on beating him, just be very vary of him, as he's not to be taken lightly. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = [ VIII. Analyzing The Enemy ] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ ANTEN8 ]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Throughout the game, there are many enemies you'll face, some pathetic, some dangerous. However, never, under any circumstances, underestimate the enemy, as you'll be quite surprised at the consequences. Here's a rundown on the various enemies in the game: Enemy Name: Archer Guard. Information: A pretty weak Guard, he uses a bow and arrow as his weapon. From a range he's dangerous, but he really has little Hit Points and will fall very fast. Enemy Name: Bear. Information: Only found in the alternative layouts and not the Story Mode, these things are pretty strong, so be sure to kill them with your best weapon and fast. Enemy Name: Blow Gun Monk Guard. Information: Another Monk with a basket on his head, he likes to use the Blow Gun. When you're hit with this, you'll be poisoned, so be careful. Like the Archer Guard, he's also very weak, so try and get in close and kill him before you alert him and get poisoned. Enemy Name: Cat. Information: Not really a enemy, except he will alert nearby Guards if you alert him, so be careful. He can't be killed either, so make a note of that. Enemy Name: Claw Guard. Information: A middle aged man wearing a mask and weilding claw weapons. He, surprisingly, is VERY fast, so do not enter a direct fight with him. Enemy Name: Dog. Information: Typical watch Dog that if you alert, will alert nearby Guards, so make sure to toss 1 or 2 Shuriken at it or to run up and slice him before he alerts others. Enemy Name: Female Guard. Information: A basic female Ninja that's not really hard to kill. For some odd reason though, these girls have red eyes...never quite knew why either. Enemy Name: Geisha. Information: Don't be fooled by the guitar on their back, these aren't no tea makers. The guitar is actually a seath for their sword, so be careful. They're pretty hard enemies, but nothing too strong. Just don't be fooled buy them and Innocent People. Enemy Name: Katana Guard. Information: Typical Guard with a Katana as his weapon. He's average strength and not too hard to kill. Enemy Name: Martial Artist Guard. Information: Oh my God, I hate these guys. If you're spotted by them, be prepared to fight a Ryu/Ken clone, this guy sucks. Very strong if you fight him head on, so be careful not to alert him. Enemy Name: Masked Samurai Guard. Information: Um...he's pretty much like the Samurai Guard, except he has a cloth over his face. That's about it. Enemy Name: Ninja Guard. Information: A typical Ninja that uses Claws to fight with. He's so so in power, not hard to kill at all. Enemy Name: Old Man Guard. Information: A typical old man who's a Guard. Pretty easy to kill like the Archer Guard, so don't fret with him. Enemy Name: Samurai Guard. Information: Basically just some middle aged Samurai that walks around with crossed arms, really half assing his job. In a fight, he's so so, nothing too much of a threat though. Enemy Name: Spear Guard. Information: A basic Guard with a Spear weapon. They're very slow and easy to take down, provided you don't get nailed by them. Enemy Name: Staff Monk Guard. Information: A pretty silly looking Guard, he has a basket on his head. Pretty weak otherwise, he uses a Staff as his weapon. Like the Spear Guard, he's not hard to kill head on, but watch for his Staff. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = [ IX. Item List ] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ ITELI9 ]= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Throughout the game, you'll have a wide selecton of Items and Tools to help aid you on your mission. Some Items are only given to you if you get the highest Rank in a Stage or if you pick it up along the way. After each Stage is beaten, depending on your rank, you'll get a certain amount of new items/more items that you already have and any items you didn't use will be added back to the storage. Anyway, here's a rundown on each Item and Tool and what each does: Note: When using ANY weapon, if you wish to cancel, release the R1 Button, such as a Shuriken or something, otherwise you'll end up shooting it. Item Name: Amulet. Information: An Item that when put into your inventory slot makes you much stronger automatically, no need to activate it. Very nice to bring along if a Stage seems too hard for you or a Boss for that matter. Item Name: Antidote. Information: When you're hit with a Poison Dart from an enemy, your Hit Point Bar will turn from red to green. During this time, every few seconds your character will stop and spasm and lose a few Hit Points. This item will instantly cure you, however, the effect of poison does wear off over time, but it's very annoying. I never really had a problem with poison, so don't bother bringing these along. Item Name: Bamboo Gun. Information: One of the strongest weapons in the game, when used it can nearly, if not kill anything, even bosses, in 1 hit. However, you can't aim this and must make sure the enemy is facing you perfectly, as whatever direction you're facing will have you shoot the gun. Definitely nice to carry for those hard Bosses. Item Name: Blow Gun. Information: Possibly one of THE best Items in the game. DEFINITELY load up on as many as you can for every mission. They allow you to Stealth Kill an enemy from afar, so these definitely come in handy. However, when used when a enemy is aware of you, it merely just poisons them. Item Name: Bola. Information: A nice Item where when you're above the enemy and use it, you pull them up on a piece of wire, choking them to death. If you're seen and use this, it only hurts them for 1/2 of their Hit Points. Item Name: Caltrops. Information: A bunch of spiked balls that when used are tossed behind you to slow down enemies that are chasing you. Sort of useful, I guess, but not worth the inventory space in my opinion. Item Name: Cannon. Information: Another Rin only Item, like the Bamboo Gun, except it's a bit weaker, but you can aim this one. Generally two of these can take down a Boss, but with these, the Bamboo Gun and Grenades, you're a very powerful Ninja. Item Name: Chameleon Spell. Information: Allows you to disguise yourself as a enemy Guard for a short while. You can Stealth Kill with it, but it will wear off once you do. Kind of useful, but I only used it for fun. Item Name: Colored Rice. Information: Leaves a trail of rice to show you where you've been. On the Map it shows up as a X. Again, this is utterly useless, I NEVER touched it, it's not worth the inventory space. Item Name: Decoy Bell. Information: Sort of like the Poisoned Rice, only it just lures the enemy away for a short time. Not very useful in my opinion, as the Poisoned Rice had a much better effect, so if you're gonna use something, use the rice. Item Name: Decoy Whistle. Information: Basically when you're detected, as in a ! on your Ki Meter, use this to make a enemy not come and investigate. It's pretty useless, as I used the ! to my advantage to get easy Stealth Kills, but use it if you want. Item Name: Demon Gloves. Information: A weapon for Rin, found in Chapter 8 near the bridge that leads to the end of the Stage. Right at the end of the bridge, to the left of it is a wall with a VERY small ledge. You can hop over and slide across the wall by leaning on it, but be careful or you'll fall and have to try again. You'll see a Red Box in the distance, which is your goal. Inside are the Demon Gloves, which when in your inventory increase your attack power. Very nice and always available once you pick them up and complete the stage, via your Item Selection screen. Item Name: Dog Bone. Information: An Item that calls out Semimaru to fight with Ayame only. I used it a few times to test it and basically it's ok...but the effect is random. I've seen it where he attacks twice and disappears to where he goes four times before leaving. It's not that great, but he does help if you're fighting a bunch of enemies and need to get a few off your back. Item Name: Dokuto Blades. Information: An Ayame Item only, when found in Chapter 7, once you beat that Stage, these are yours forever. A MUCH stronger version of her normal Katanas, these are laced with poison, so any enemy you hit will induce Poison on them. VERY nice. Item Name: Egg. Information: A healing item that restores 1/2 of your Hit Points. Like the other items, it takes 3-4 seconds to perform, so make sure you use it somewhere safely. Item Name: Exploding Arrow. Information: An Ayame only Item, when used it hurts an enemy for a great deal of damage. Just make sure you aim it well, as it has horrible accuracy. It's ok, but nothing I really brought along on missions. Item Name: Exploding Box. Information: A Rin only Item, when set on the ground, the box explodes, spending shrapnel in all directions. It's ok, just not something I ever used and found pointless. Item Name: Fake Rat. Information: Basically it's a little remote controlled device that explodes at will. More fun than useful, really, I never really bothered with it. Item Name: Fire Spell. Information: A very cool Tool that when used sprays fire in many directions, causing a good amount of damage to an enemy. Pretty nice to use, but eh, only for Boss Battles or if you're in a pinch. Item Name: Fireworks. Information: Basically sets off some fireworks that have any nearby enemies amazed at the show. However, if you place it close to one or you don't move away fast enough, the explosion will REALLY knock you away and same for the nearby enemy. I only used it once and I didn't move away in time and it shot Rin off a ledge and I died...so...yeah, I never really tried it again and just did it to see the effect afterwards. Use it if you want, but it's not terribly useful. Item Name: Grenade. Information: Another very useful Item, the Grenade can deal a very high amount of damage when used. However, make sure you hit the enemy with it, as in be lined up with them, otherwise you'll miss and have to hope they step on it or be near it as it explodes. Do NOT use this at close range, as the blast can also hurt you as well. Item Name: Grappling Hook. Information: This is always on you, no matter what and it's not a option to not have it. Basically use this and aim at a cliff or roof and if the Ninja Star turns bright red, you can attach the hook to whatever you're aiming at. If not, you won't be able to fire it. Item Name: Hand Claws. Information: An Ayame only Item, when used you can cling to walls for a short period of time. Again, never really used this, but have fun with it or try to make use of it. Item Name: Health Potion. Information: A potion that completely recovers all your Hit Points. Be careful, as you're vulnerable when using this and it takes about 3-4 seconds to fully drink it, so make sure you're far enough from the enemy or in a safe place to use it. If you are hit while drinking it, you'll have to pick it up off the ground again and reuse it, so be careful. Item Name: Invisibility Spell. Information: This is just awesome. Basically you become invisible for a short time and you can go around Stealth Killing like crazy without it wearing off when you do. Definitely useful in a pinch and you need to do a bum rush on a bunch of enemies. Item Name: Mine. Information: An Ayame Item only, when used if a enemy steps on it, they'll take a ton of damage. Useful for Boss fights and for fun on enemies, hehe. Item Name: Ninja Rebirth. Information: A very useful tool if you want to play it safe. If you are to die, this item automatically activates and you're brought back to life. If a any enemies are around, they are temporarily stunned and you can Stealth Kill them, so have fun. Item Name: Poisoned Rice. Information: A somewhat useful Item that when used, if a enemy sees it, they'll leave their post and go after it. You can pick it up and reuse it if they don't get to it and eat it, however if they do, they'll become poisoned and lose 1/2 of their Hit Points. I never really used it, so if you wish to, go for it. Item Name: Rice Ball. Information: Ok, even though the animation for this shows you "drinking" it, I'm just going to call it a Rice Ball, since that's the icon for it. Anyway, like the Health Potion, it takes 3-4 seconds to consume it and only recovers 30 Hit Points. Item Name: Sacrifice Potion. Information: It drains you to 1 Hit Point, but makes you very strong. I stronglest suggest you have a Ninja Rebirth when using this. When used with a Amulet and Strength Potion, oh boy, watch out Bosses. Item Name: Shuriken. Information: Eh, they're only really useful for killing Dog enemies and until you unlock Sniper, they're not worth taking along. However, I DID find them VERY useful in Red Blade Mode. When Ayame throws these at you, dodge and get it, as throwing them at a Boss when he's hanging on by a thread rocks and saves time, instead of you trying to run in and slash him for the final move. Item Name: Sleeping Gas. Information: A very nice item, that when used puts an enemy to sleep. It's probably more useful to use on Innocent People if anything, though. Item Name: Smoke Bomb. Information: Another Ayame only Item. Basically like the name implies, when used smoke appears and it stuns the enemies briefly. Good for getting away from the enemy or to get in some free hits. Bring it along if you want, but you shouldn't really need it unless you screw up a Stealth Kill or are spotted and have no choice but to fight. Item Name: Spinner. Information: Another Ayame only Item. Basically it explodes and hurts the enemy as far as I can tell...pretty useless it seems, I never really brought it on any Stages. Item Name: Sticky Bomb. Information: Wow this is fun to use. Basically you can throw it at a enemy and it'll stick to them and hit the R3 Button to make them go boom! Nice to use when that enemy walks by another enemy or set of enemies. Item Name: Strength Potion. Information: Like a Healing Potion, this takes a few seconds to activate, so use it when you're safe. When used, your attack power will be much stronger and yes, it can be paired with the Amulet to make you VERY strong. Item Name: Wasp Nest. Information: A Rin only Item, when used, a swarm of Wasps will appear and if a enemy walks into the path, it will attack them until they die. Cool to watch, but I never really used this Item either. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = [ X. Scroll Move List ] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ SCROI10 ] = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Throughout the game, when you successfully Stealth Kill an enemy, they'll drop a certain amount of Scrolls, based on the level and if you did a "Negative" kill, as in the screen turns a negative color and you get a extra Scroll. At the end of each level, the Scrolls you collected are added up and if you reach the desired amount, you'll unlock a skill for the girl you're playing. Here's a list for each of the girls: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - A. Ayame . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ AYAM10.1 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill Name: Wall Run. Scrolls Needed: 10. What's It Do?: Basically, when you double jump at a wall, hit the X Button again quickly and you'll do a quick run jump off the wall...it's useful to reach up ledges on houses or walls, but don't expect to do real run up the wall here. Skill Name: Crescent Moon. Scrolls Needed: 30. What's It Do?: After your do the fourth attack in a combo, press away with the Left Analog Stick and then hit the Square Button to do a kick attack. Very useful in my opinion, I used this a lot in Red Blade Mode. Skill Name: Hawk Eye. Scrolls Needed: 60. What's It Do?: When using the L1 Camera, use the Right Analog Stick to zoom in and out. This also increases your accuracy and range with your ranged weapons. I personally never used it, never really had to, since I did fine without it, but I can see where it'd come in handy. Skill Name: Swift Guard. Scrolls Needed: 100. What's It Do?: Allows you to Guard a enemy's attack. Basically right before the attack hits you, press and hold the Circle Button, but this takes a lot of timing and I suggest you don't rely on it, ever. Focus on dodging, as it's much more reliable and you can counter attack when the enemy is still doing their combo. Skill Name: Cheetah Sprint. Scrolls Needed: 150. What's It Do?: When crouching on the ground, hit the L3 Button and the direction you want to go to do a quick rush. To do this again and again, release R1 and then hold it and do L3 again. Again, I only used it to see what it was like, never really found it useful in my kills. I'd guess it's good to move about undetected, but other than that, do what you will with it. Skill Name: Inner Ear. Scrolls Needed: 200. What's It Do?: When crouching, hold the Circle Button and on your Map, enemies appear as green dots. VERY useful to have when going through the missions, as you can plan ahead and figure who to kill first and how. Skill Name: Arrow Block. Scrolls Needed: 250. What's It Do?: Allows you to block arrows and other projectiles from enemies...again it's not that useful and timing is a pain. Just dodge attacks, it's easier and more successful. Skill Name: Long Claw. Scrolls Needed: 300. What's It Do?: After you rotate the Left Analog Stick and hit the Square Button, you'll launch the enemy into the air. After doing so, hit the Triangle Button to attack the enemy with the Grappling Hook. It's ok, not really something THAT useful, just more for fun. Skill Name: Sniper. Scrolls Needed: 350. What's It Do?: Wow, this thing rocks. When using Hawk Eye and throwing a Shuriken, if you nail a enemy in the head, you'll get a Stealth Kill for it. Very, very useful. Skill Name: Mind Control. Scrolls Needed: 400. What's It Do?: When performing a Stealth Kill, instead of killing the enemy, before you attack hit the Circle Button and Ayame will paralyze the enemy. They can still notice you if you run into their line of sight, but you can kill them anyway you want, however you'll only get 1 Scroll for this. VERY useful to use on Innocent People so they aren't moving around. Skill Name: Spider's Nest. Scrolls Needed: 450. What's It Do?: Use your Grappling Hook and aim at a ceiling. When you hit, hold the R1 Button to hang from it. You only can do this for 20 seconds, so be careful. Useful to get a Stealth Kill crom patroling enemies that pass underneath you. Skill Name: False Wall. Scrolls Needed: 500. What's It Do?: When leaning against a wall, hold the Circle Button to cover yourself with a sheet matching the wall. You CAN be spotted still depending on your positioning, but other than that it's very useful for Stealth Kills. Skill Name: Wrath. Scrolls Needed: 550. What's It Do?: Press and hold the Square Button and then release it to launch a devastating attack on the enemy. If more than one enemy is around, press the Square Button again after you landed the first attack to hit the next enemy. Very useful if you're in a pinch and enemies are surrounding you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - B. Rin . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [ RI10.2 ] - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill Name: Fang Guard. Scrolls Needed: 10. What's It Do?: Same as Swift Guard really. Hit the Circle Button right before an enemy lands an attack on you to block it. Not really reliable, as it takes good timing, so it's best to just dodge everything instead and counter attack when possible. Skill Name: Arrow Block. Scrolls Needed: 30. What's It Do?: Exactly like Ayame's Skill, just hit the Circle Button before a enemy hits you with an arrow or protectile. Again, it's best to just dodge attacks rather than block them, as the timing it takes is insane. Skill Name: Death Drop. Scrolls Needed: 60. What's It Do?: After hitting twice in a combo, move away with the Left Analog Stick and Square, then hit Square again to catch the enemy in mid air, and slam them to the ground. A VERY nice move, looks awesome to execute. Skill Name: Wall Run. Scrolls Needed: 100. What's It Do?: Like Ayame's Skill, double jump at a wall and hit the X Button quickly to do a quick run up the wall. Not holy shit useful, but it gives a nice little boost to your jump so you can reach high up ledges. Skill Name: Hawk Eye. Scrolls Needed: 150. What's It Do?: Again, Like Ayame's Skill, when using the L1 camera, use the Right Analog Stick to zoom in and out. Also increases your accuracy and range with projectiles when in this mode. Skill Name: Crimson. Scrolls Needed: 200. What's It Do?: During a Throw, rotate the Left Analog Stick and hit the Circle Button to perform a really nice attack on the enemy. When paired with Crimson Final, it's quite deadly. Skill Name: Numbing Strike. Scrolls Needed: 250. What's It Do?: Like Ayame's Mind Control, this paralyzes the enemy into not being able to move, however they can still spot you if you enter their line of sight. If you kill a enemy in this mode, they will only drop 1 Scroll. However, this is VERY useful when used on Innocent People so they don't walk around and give you a chance to be spotted. Skill Name: Shadow. Scrolls Needed: 300. What's It Do?: When crouching, press L3 and you'll become invisible for a short time...not really useful really for how long it lasts, but at least you can use it to Stealth Kill from the front of the enemy. Skill Name: Long Claw. Scrolls Needed: 350. What's It Do?: Just like Ayame's Skill, rotate the Left Analog Stick and hit the Square Button. Once the enemy is airborne, hit the Triangle Button to grab him with the hook. Again, more for fun really than useful. Skill Name: Spider's Nest. Scrolls Needed: 400. What's It Do?: Again, like Ayame's Skill, grapple at a ceiling and hold the R1 Button to remain on the ceiling for 20 seconds. Useful to get a Stealth Kill when a enemy is patroling beneath you and you have little choice for other kills. Skill Name: Sniper. Scrolls Needed: 450. What's It Do?: Sigh...heh, like Ayame's Skill, when using Hawk Eye, throw a Shuriken at a enemy's head to get a Stealth Kill on them. VERY useful once you obtain this. Skill Name: Mimicry. Scrolls Needed: 500. What's It Do?: When you've made a noise, shown as a ! on your Ki Meter, while crouching, hit the Circle Button to make a animal noise to throw the enemy off as it was nothing, so they don't come to check it out. It's ok I guess, although I mostly alerted enemies to pull them away for a easier Stealth Kill. Skill Name: Crimson Final. Scrolls Needed: 550. What's It Do?: During the Crimson attack, when Rin's breaking the enemy's arm, press Up and Down on the Left Analog Stick and Circle to unleash the true power of this attack. VERY cool to watch if you pull it off. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = XI. Secrets . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
