01. Introduction

As you know you are spiderman. The crimefighting super hero. You have all the powers that a 
spider has. Hense the name. If you bought this game then you have probably played the previous
game or the PS1 version. There are new enemies to fight like Doc Ock, Mysterio and shocker.
They also have the voices which makes it seem more real. Spiderman the movie and Spiderman 2
are completely different in every single possible way. Here is why.

You can now touch the ground and interact with pedestrains. So if you make a mistake whilst
swinging then you won\'t just die. You will keep falling until you hit the ground so you will have
more time to recover. The graphics are better in some ways. The pedestrain faces are ok but
that is it. There are some much better combos to try out when fighting thugs. The game area
is hugely bigger. It is more like grand theft auto. You can just stroll aorund and you don\'t have
to do any missions. You can just go around and make a nusiance of yourself. But the thing
that is completely different is the swinging. You finally get to swing like Spiderman.
You have complete control of where you go and it is perfect. You can do lots of swing moves
in the air and it makes the game flow much better than the first Spiderman.

02. Controls

If this is your first spiderman game then the controls will be quite hard to get to grips with, 
especially the combos. Just try your best and eventually you will get used to them.

Sqaure - Punch and kick your enemies or action like talking to someone.
Circle - Press when near a wall to attach to it. press when spidey\'s head flashes to dodge stuff.
Triangle - Web. Hold down to cover an enemy in web which prevents them from moveing. Tap
to blind or take away and enemies weapon. If you hold triangle and move the left analog stick
then you will throw the enemy in that direction. If you spin it around you will spin them around.
X - Jump. Tap for a little jump. Tap twice for a double jump. Hold down and let go when the 
bar aruond you health fills up to perform a super jump. You will jump really high. I promise.

R2 - Web swing. look in the swinging section on how to swing well.
L2 - Press and hold when running, swining, crawling or web attacking to make you action faster.
Note that you may be faster but when crawling, swinging and running you have less control.
L1 - Spiderman reflexes. Read about this in the spiderman reflexes section.
R1 - Re centre the camera behind spiderman.

Left analog stick - Move spiderman.
Right analog stick - Rotate camera.
Start - Pause and look at tasks and awards etc.
Select - Look at the map of the city from above. Look in the map section on how to read the map.

03. Wall crawling and wall sprinting

Everyone knows about wall crawling. Simply go up to the wall and press circle to attach to it.
This is different from the Spiderman the movie game. Once on the wall use the right analog
stick to move around on the wall. Press and hold L2 whilst on the wall to move faster. Note
that when moving faster you have less control over spiderman. To move up a wall faster do
a power jump. Then hit circle again to re attach to the wall.

Wall sprinting. This is great fun to use and is also really useful. Hold L2 then run up to the wall
and press circle. You will walk along it. After about four seconds you will fall down so when you
are about to fall press X, still holding onto L2, and press circle. This is will start you off again.
This is useful because it is a great way to keep up momentum in the middle of swinging.

04. How to web swing - The basics

Here is where it gets interesting. How to swing. Just the basics for now. If you already no
the basics then skip onto the advanced swinging. When you start the game there are two
different options of swinging. Easy or Normal. Easy is easy. Duh. And normal means
that you have more control of Spidey. If you are new to this start with Easy then when you
are used to it go to normal. Or if you are experienced then just go straight onto Normal.

Firstly you want to get yourself high up in the air. There are two ways of doing this. You can
either crawl up a tall building and jump off, or you can do it the simpler and quicker way
which is just to hold X for a power jump then start from there. Right. You are now in the air.
Press R2 to create a webline. At the top of the webline press X and press R2 to start
another webline. If you want to turn a corner push the left analog stick in the desired
direction. eg left turn, push analog stick left. Then press R2 to fire a web in that direction.
You do not have to jump between swings but it is easier.

So that is how to get started. Now when you want to go under something like a bridge just 
presss R2 at the last minute and you will swing near the ground. Note that if you press R2 
too late then you will hit the ground and cause some serious damage. Also if there is
nothing to hook onto. If you want to go over a building, whilst swinging hold X to charge 
the power jump. Then, still holding X, Hold L2 to speed you up. Then at the top of your 
swing release both buttons. You will now sail over the building. You can now either land 
on the building or wait until you are over the building and start a new web line.

05. Using the surroundings eg. flag poles, street lights etc.

You can swing off of all of these. But you can also use them for other things. You can hang 
enemies up on street lights or traffic lights, only when you have purchased the upgrade, 
Once they are hanging you can just keep hitting them until you loose interest. You can also 
swing off of street lights, traffic lights etc. To do this just jump up to the top of the traffic 
light, street light and presss and hold circle. You will now swing round it. Charge up your 
Super jump and let go at the top of the swing. If you let go at the bottom of your swing you 
will just hit the ground. You won\'t get hurt or anything if you do that. If you don\'t jump 
then you will sit on it. Just push the left analog stick forward to start swinging again.

Once you can do that you can start getting a bit fancy. Try doing this in the middle of a swing. 
In other words, whilst you are swinging press X to cancel the swing, swing round the traffic 
light or street lamp then press X and start another swing. Class. Eh. The good thing about
this is that it keeps up speed between swings. So it gives you a chance to relax but you are
still maintaining speed. It also makes you look cool. You can also swing off lamp posts, 
traffic lights or flag poles with web which makes it easier to swing round sharp corners.

06. Advanced Web swinging - faster swinging, webzip, double web line, Acrobatic air moves etc.

Now here is where it gets really interesting. If you are reading this then you should have got 
to grips with the basic swing moves outlined earlier. So now you should be able to happily
swing around. Now here is where you can start to show off.....

Faster swinging

If you can master faster swinging then all of the challenges and tasks, like deliver someone to 
the hospital, will be a breeze. When swinging along hold down L2. This will speed you up.
When you press X to let go of your web line at the top of your swing you will make a huge 
jump. Use this to jump over buildings. Then carry on swinging. If instead you use a power 
jump at the top of you swing then you will make a huge jump which is so high it is dangerous 
if you land flat on you back. So watch out. He may be a superhero but he can still die.

So now you can make these huge jumps and fast swings. But there is a downside to all of this. 
If you are using L2 it is harder to control spiderman because he is going so fast. Only really 
use this if you need to get somewhere quick or if you are going along a straight road. If you 
want to get to secret places you need to be able to do this. Eg if you want to get to the statue 
of Liberty. Good Luck with this.

Webzip

Note that webzip has to be bought from the upgrade shop in order to use it. The web zip is 
extremely useful. If you are falling through the sky and you are pressing R2 and nothing 
happens because there is nothing to hook onto use the webzip. When purchased hold L2 
and tap R2 to shoot yourself in the desired direction. Keep doing this unti you reach your 
destination. Web zip fires a web further than just a normal swing. Not only is it useful for 
preventing death or serious pain, it is also useful for getting round tight corners, climbing 
up buildings quicker and of course good fun.

Double web line

To create a double web line just fire one web to start with. Just tap R2. Now point the analog 
stick in the direction that you want the second web to go and press R2 again. You will now 
be hanging by two weblines. You can also purchase and upgrade which allows you to make 
a huge jump when hanging from two web lines.

Why use it. There is not really much point but it is useful if you want to stay in the air and just 
have a moment to think about what you are doing. It is also useful for pulling yourself higher 
in the air and also just moving around. It is only useful if you purchase the upgrade for it. 
When purchased if you are hanging from to web lines and you charge up your super jump, 
when you let go you will go sailing through the air. Start a new web line and you will have 
travelled quite far. Useful for running away, getting to places in a hurry or to get some hight.

Acrobatic air moves

Acrobatic air moves serve one purpose. This is to fill up your reflex meter. When in the air 
just keep pressing X and spiderman will do some cool air moves. Do this in between jumps 
now and then to just fill up you meter. If you are really, really skilful then if you are near 
a bridge then press X a couple of times and try and manoeuvre between the gaps on the side 
of the bridge. This is nearly impossible to do on the smaller gaps so try it on the larger gaps.

07. Different types of jumping

There are three different types of jumping. A little jump, a double jump and a power jump. 
The little jump is used for just jupping over little things. Like on rooftops there are sometimes 
things sticking out. The double jump is used for jumping from one building to another. And 
the power jump is used to get yourself high in the air, traveling a huge distance or jumping 
over multiple buildings.

You should never just use the power jump. You should always use the different jumps. They 
are all there for a reason. There is no point trying to jump over a builing with a little jump, 
and no point trying to hop over a car with a power jump. After a while you will know which 
jump to use for what you are doing.

08. Upgrades - Swinging, fighting, air trick upgrades and other upgrades

Uprgrades can be purchased when you have hero points. The better the upgrade the more 
hero points needed. When you get further on in the game you will have to purchase upgrades 
in order to complete certain missions. For instance. When you are chasing Black Cat you 
need to have some swing upgrades or you will fall behind.

Swinging

The main swinging upgrades are speed. You can go all the way up to level 8 which is very fast. 
You have to buy all of them in order. You can\'t just buy level 8 straight away. You have to 
purchase 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 before you can purchase 8. Another swing upgrade is the web zip. 
This is outlined earlier on in the walkthrough.

Fighting

There are a lot of fighting upgrades. Mainly combos. The best upgrades to purcahse are the 
web tie ones. Once you have purchased all four you can tie up four enemies at a time with web. 
This is really useful. You can also purchase other upgrades like the ability to tie enemies up to 
lamp posts. And of course there are some cool combos and counter attacks to purchase.

Air tirck upgrades

There are two different types of air trick upgrades to purchase. There are the upgrades which 
are used when you do a jump by presssing X and the upgrades to use when you walk off a 
building and do a dive. All of the upgrades are just pressing X a certain amount of times. 
They are just to help boost your special meter.

Other Upgrades

There are some other upgrades to purchase as well. You can purchase the theatre which allows 
you to watch demos of the game so you can see what you can do. There are three. You can watch 
the opening demos which you see when you turn on the Ps2. Another upgrade is this ware 
house. Once bought you can visit the ware house where you do a challenge. You have to kill 
all of the enemies within a certain time limit. Each round the enemies get stronger and the time 
get shorter. Both of these, when bought, will be shown on the map under key locations. Presss 
select to view the map.

There is also a health upgrade. If you are running low on health and can\'t find any, go to a 
upgrade store and buy the health upgrade. It will increase you health. The lower you health 
the more it costs. You can purchase this as many times as you want.

09. Fighting - The basics, on the ground, in the air, multiple enemies.

So now you need to know how to kill enemies. There may be only one attack button but you 
still use traingle and circle. Put together they make some amazing combos which completely 
stun you enemies. All of the enemies are different. Some have guns or bars. Some of the 
enemies that you encounter will dodge your web and block your punches. But they can not 
block your gush of web. Hold down L2 and press triangle. This will cover any enemy in web, 
apart from bosses. 

The basics

Square is punch and kick. Press it three times and you have just done a combo. Tap triangle 
to blind and enemy or take away his or her weapon. Hold it down to cover them in web. Or 
hold L2 and presss triangle. Once they are covered in web they can\'t do anything. You can 
kick them, punch them, throw them, pick them up. Anything.

On the ground

If you want to kill an enemy there are a lot of ways. The quickest is if you are on a high building 
or near some water. Cover them in web so that they can\'t move. Now stand near the edge of the 
top of a tall building or near some water. Hold triangle and move the left analog stick to swing 
them about. Now you can swing them off the edge of the building or into the river which is 
instant death. Just make sure that you don\'t follow them. You can smash enemies on the 
ground with the web yank or spin them around your head and let go and send them flying.

Note that if it is a weak enemy then you can just use the yank straight away 
and you don\'t have to cover them in web first. It is just that some enemies will block the yank.
You can also use this to bring enemies towards you or to throw them into the air. If you have 
them covered in web, tap trianlge to take away there weapon because once they free themselves 
they will start shooting at you.

In the air

There are some upgrades which allow you to attack in the air. These are very good. The simply 
way is to just either hold down sprint, run up to them and press square which will send them 
flying into the air, or to use the web yank which i talked about above. In the air you have the
upper hand because they can\'t attack in the air. If there is an explosion and you are sent 
flying in the air, press any button because this will give you control over spiderman quicker.
press triangle and circle together when near an enemy to pick them up. You can then throw 
them but it is more fun if you start a swing, get really high in the air and press circle to drop 
them all the way back down to the ground.

When you have to go and find the enemies first, when you see them charge up your power 
jump and jump over them. In the air keep pressing triangle to cover them in web. They won\'t 
block because they weren\'t ready as you came from above them. If you just walk up to the 
they can just dodge you web.

Multiple enemies

This can be a real pain. What you need to do is to never stop moving. If they have guns keep 
jumping out of the way. The best tactic is to cover the guys with guns in web and take the 
gun away. As they are tied up quickly beat up the others. Then keep doing this so you are only 
fighting a few at a time. If you get stuck in the middle then just run or jump. Then come back 
and start again.

Also when pressing square move the left analog stick backwards to hit someone behind you. You 
can also, if you have purchased the upgrade, press Square, Square, Triangle, X to tie them up to 
a lamp post or traffic light. Then just jump up and keep punching them until you hand hurts. 
Let all of the frustration out.

10. Counter Attacks

A good way of dealing with enemies with bars. When they go to hit you press circle to dodge the 
attack. Then press triangle to shoot them with web. If you have the upgrades you can also do 
this with square. Counter attacks will only work if you dodge a bar or something. You cannot 
dodge someones fist. Make sure that you get the counter attack upgrades because they are 
really useful on multiple enemies.

If you keep pressing triangle too late then press L1 to go into slow motion. This is much easier 
to dodge bars. Note that it will not last for long so use it carefully. It will full up quite quickly 
but you can\'t wait about in the middle of a battle.

11.  Spiderman reflexes - doging bullets and attacks

Spiderman reflexes is new. When is head flashes you know someone or thing is about to hit you. 
This is good if you are catching a car jacker because they shoot you. Press L1 to go into slow 
motion. You are actually moving really fast. Like in the Matrix. So now everything is slow. This 
means you have more time to get ready to dodge attacks.

When in spiderman reflexes mode, if something is thrown at you a red circle will appear round it 
as it comes towards you. Press cricle to dodge it. You can dodge attacks whether you are standing, 
on the wall or swinging. As i said earlier you can dodge bullets and people trying to hit you with 
a bar. BUT YOU CANNOT DODGE PUNCHES OR KICKS.

12. Different icons - Citizens in distress, enemies, muggings, tasks, where to go

A story mission objective is a blue star. A civilian telling you about a crime or someone in 
danger will have a green marker. A petty crime, mugging, car jacker etc, will be a purple marker. 
A citizen in distress or a citizen needing help has a yellow marker above their head. An enemy 
has a red marker and a damaged enemy has a red and yellow marker. The objective marker 
looks like two arrows pointing towards each other. 

There are also markers on the map. Look at the map section on how to read the map. The main 
ones are the Daily Bugle, Pizza icon, MJ\'s apartmen and the upgrade store. There are also hint 
markers. These are important because when you go to these places you will be given a mission.

13. Helping pedestrains - muggings, retrieving balloons, car jackers etc

If you need a few hero points, look for a pedestrian with a green marker above his or her head. 
Go near them and press square to talk to them. They will tell you something like there is a gun 
fight, a robbery, a car jacker, someone about to fall off a roof, someone who needs to go to a 
hospital, a boat sinking, robots killing people etc. Complete the task to earn hero points.

Here are some of the ones which people may have problems with. For the car chased jump onto 
the car and keep pressing square. Once the car stops after about seven or eight hits, beat up 
the guys who get out. For the robots just keep pressing square and X. If someone is about to 
fall then press triangle near them to pick them up. Any other questions about these tasks just

possible. Usually within a day or two.

14. Awards

You can earn various awards. You can earn awards for all kinds of things like collecting a certain 
amount of balloons for children, for stopping 25 robbers, muggers or taking people to the 
hospital. Also for beating bosses. You also get awards for collecting all the secret tokens, 
skyscraper tokens and other tokens.

If you get an award it will say on the screen. Go to the pause menu, then press L1, now click on 
awards to see what awards you have won, what awards can be won, and most importantly, how 
to get the award. Again please email me about any questions at all that you have about 
Spiderman 2. I will try my best to help you.

15. Reading the map

You have to know how to read the map. Firstly press select to see the map. Press circle to zoom 
out and X to zoom in. To move around the map use the left analog stick. There is a compass 
to help you get to the place you want to be. There are different options. Key locations, eg the 
Daily Bugle, Pizza Place, Upgrade store, MJ\'s apartment. The challenges in the game. Hint 
markers. Use this to get the award knowledge seeker by looking at all of the hint markers. Also 
the main option which is everything. Eg the names of the islands.

Look at the map. You are where spiderman\'s head is. Now look for the place you want to go. 
Check which direction it is in and then go in that direction. The map can be confusing but 
you will get to grips with it. The map on the gamepaly screen shows how high you are and 
also icons like pedestrains needing help, muggings etc.

16. How you can die

Yes. I\'m afraid so. You can die. There are lots of ways to die. Unfortunately. The most common is 
running out of health because you have been beaten up. If you fall off a tall builing you will 
loose health and possibly die depending on how low our health was to start with. You can also 
fall into the sea. You don\'t die because you just automatically come back out of the water 
because you are not allowed in it. But try and refrain from falling in there because you will 
waste time if you are doing a mission.

You don\'t have a limited amount of lives like on Grand theft auto. You can go on for ever. If you 
die, excluding the falling in water, then you will fail the mission. If you are taking a pedestrian 
somewhere and you fall in you will fail the mission because you killed the pedestrain. So be 
carful and stay away from the water.

17. Gameplay tips, How to contact me, cheats, General info.

My top ten gameplay tips.

1. When fighting enemies don\'t get surrounded.
2. If you need to get higher when swinging jump at the top of your swing.
3. Visit upgrade stores. New things come in each chapter.
4. Always try and dodge attacks using circle.
5. Use L2 for faster running, crawling and swinging.
6. Use the web tie.
7. Master all of the esentials. Springing off buildings, wall running, web zipping etc.
8. Always check you to do list.
9. In missions keep an eye on the time left.
10. REMEMBER TO SAVE BEFORE TURNING OFF YOU PS2.

For your name type in TREYARCH. Then press enter. Then type in any name. Then press ok.
