INTRODUCTION ============================================================================ This is a Weapon and Equipment guide for SOCOM II: US NAVY SEALS.This guide is intended mainly for online play but will also tell you which guns to use for single player. This guide will tell you how each weapon is rated and give accurate statistics based on hours of testing. Each weapon/Equipment will have its own brief descriptions about their pros and cons. This guide will also provide my personal opinions on the best weapons to use for online play. ============================================================================ ii. HOW TO USE THIS FAQ ============================================================================ *note* these statistics are based on me trying them out in the game and recording the data, not the statistics the game shows in the armory. Volume: Volume determines how loud the shot it when a weapon is fired. Accuracy: Accuracy determines how close the bullets are to the center of the crosshairs when firing weapons Recoil: Recoil is what happends when the gun kicks back when firing. Fire Speed: Fire Speed is how fas the gun fires shots. Modes: Modes are the different ways a gun fires i.e. Single/Burst/Auto Power: Power determines how much damage a single bullet will deal. this was recorded on shots to the chest. All the ratings are based on numbers like this 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Low Medium High Damage in this game is kind of weird, when you shoot someone damage will be minor with most guns, but the second hit will do more, and so on throught the hits. Which is why with pistols that do about 1mm of damage on the life gauge will do more on the next shot. Which is why it doesnt take like 12 hits to kill with a weak pistol. =========================================================================== iii. Mediocre is all categories, use the RA-14 or IW-80 A2 since they are either better or the same in every category. M4A1 SD (Suppressed M4A1) Volume: 1 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 6 Modes: All Power: 5 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long Same as the M4A1 but silenced. And yes this gun IS as strong as the regular M4A1. M4A1-M203 (M4A1 with an M203 attachment) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 4 Recoil: 6 Fire Speed: 6 Modes: All-M203 Power: 5 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long Same as the M4A1 but has a grenade laucher attachment. This has alot more recoil than the normal M4A1. M14 (M14) Volume: 7 Accuracy: 8 Recoil: 7 Fire Speed: 8 Modes: Single-Auto Power: 8 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 20 Recommend firing range: Short to long This gun is very powerful and deadly at close range since it kicks up very quickly and allows easy headshots. I recommend taping the trigger for long range shots. This gun kills in two hits to the vital areas and more for the others. M16A2 (M16A2) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 8 Recoil: 2 Fire Speed: 5 Modes: Single-Burst Power: 7 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Medium to long The M16 is very accurate but very newbie unfriendly especially in S2 since headshots are now alot more vital for fast kills. Don\'t use this gun unless your good at aiming. M16A2-M203 (M16A2 with an M203 attachment) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 7 Recoil: 2 Fire Speed: 5 Modes: Single-Burst-M203 Power: 7 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Medium to long Same as the M12A2 but has a grenade launcher attachment. IW-80 A2 (Enfield SA-80 IW) Volume: 4 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 6.5 Modes: Single-Auto Power: 5 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long This gun along with the RA-14 are my personal favourites, They both provide good accuracy,low recoil, and still deal decent damage. Also has a scope for sniping. RA-14 (OC-14 Groza) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 4 Fire Speed: 6 Modes: All Power: 5 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long this gun is pretty much the same as the IW-80 A2 but it seems a little louder and more stable. AK-105 (AK-105) Volume: 6 Accuracy: 6 Recoil: 4 Fire Speed: 5 Modes: All Power: 6 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long Nearly identical to the M4A1 but is louder and stronger. Reasonably good gun since it\'s fairly strong and has medium recoil, the only thing I don\'t like about this gun is the lack of a scope. M63A (M63A Stoner) Volume: 7 Accuracy: 4 Recoil: 6 Fire Speed: 4 Modes: Auto Power: 5 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 75 Recommend firing range: Short to Medium High ammo capacity, Faster and more accurate then the M60E3 But a lot weaker. This gun getsan accuracy boost when in prone position. M60E3 (M60E3) Volume: 7 Accuracy: 3 Recoil: 6 Fire Speed: 3.5 Modes: Auto Power: 7 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 100 Recommend firing range: Short to medium Similiar to the M63A but is alot stronger, I use this gun if I plan on using a machine gun. This gun gets an accuracy boost when in prone position. 1b SUB-MACHINE GUNS =================== HK5 (MP5) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 8 Recoil: 2 Fire Speed: 7 Modes: All Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short=Long This gun was king in S1 but is nerfed in S2 since it does very little damage. Super accurate gun, not much else. HK5 SD (MP5SD) Volume: 1 Accuracy: 8 Recoil: 2 Fire Speed: 7 Modes: All Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short-Long Same as the HK5 just silenced. HK5K (MP5K) Volume: 4 Accuracy: 3 Recoil: 3 Fire Speed: 9 Modes: All Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short Just a faster, more inaccurate HK5, sounds cool though :) 1c SNIPER RIFLES ================ *note* all Snipers rifles have 100% accuracy while in the scope, all accuracy ratings shown below were tested while not in the scope. SR-25 (Knight\'s SR-25) Volume: 7 Accuracy: 3 Recoil: 7 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 9 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 20 Recommend firing range: Medium to long This sniper rifle is very good since it has little recoil and is semi-automatic giving you better opportunities to kill multiple targets I don\'t recommend using this gun if you are new to sniping because you must be very skilled to use this gun effectively. This gun kills in two hits to the vital areas and a few shots to the other areas. SR-25 SD (Suppressed Knight\'s SR-25) Volume: 2 Accuracy: 3 Recoil: 7 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 9 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 20 Recommend firing range: Medium to long Same as the SR-25 just silenced, I prefer this one over the regular SR-25 since they both do the same amount of damage but is silenced and allows you to snipe and not have to relocate after firing a shot. M40A1 (M40A1) Volume: 7 Accuracy: 10 Recoil: 7 Fire Speed: 1 Modes: Single Power: 9 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 25 Recommend firing range: Long Not a very good sniper rifle since its fairly weak for the rate that it reloads, it is however very steady while in the scope just use the M87ELR. This gun kills in 2 hits. Mark 23 SD (Suppressed HK Mark 23) Volume: 1 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 6 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 12 Recommend firing range: Short to medium Same as the Mark 23 but silenced and weaker. 9mm Pistol (Suppressed HK P9S) Volume: 1 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 9 Recommend firing range: Short to medium Weak pistol, if you want a silenced pistol use the Mark 23 SD. M11 Volume: 3 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 15 Recommend firing range: Short to medium Inferior to the Mark 23 and SP-10, don\'t use it. SP-10 Volume: 4 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 8 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 18 Recommend firing range: Short to medium Identical to the Mark 23. 1f EQUIPMENT ============ M67 Basic grenade, this will hurl shrapnel in a wide radius giving it lots of range. HE Grenade Small blast radius but will kill whatever it hits. Mark141 Throw this in front of a target to blind it for like 20 seconds. 2x Ammo Doubles your ammo. Claymore A small green directional mine that shoots marble sized balls in the direction it is faced. Unlike the PMN Mines your detonate this yourself via the detonator. Grenade and bullets can set these off and these also have alot of range. AN-M8 Basic smoke bomb, need I say more? AT4-HEAT A rocket launcher, You need to kneel in order to fire this. The explosion has a large radius. Takes up 2 inventory slots Thermal Scope Use in combination with a sniper rifle, gives your scope thermal vision. ========================================================================= TERRORISTS ========================================================================= 2a ASSAULT RIFLES AND MACHINE GUNS ================================== AK-47 (AK-47) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 6 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 5 Modes: All Power: 6 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long Packs a strong punch and is accurate to boot only downfall is the lack of a scope and is slower than most assault rifles. AKS-74 (AKS-74/AKS-74U) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 5.5 Modes: All Power: 5 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Short to long Just like the AK-47 but uses smaller rounds so is slightly weaker, this is made up for it\'s faster fire rate. 552 (SIG 552) Volume: 5 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 6 Fire Speed: 4.5 Modes: All Power: 5 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Medium to long Use only if you want a scope, other than that just use the AK-47/AKS-74. 552 SD (Suppressed SIG 552) Volume: 1 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 6 Fire Speed: 4.5 Modes: All Power: 4.5 Scope: Yes Clip Ammo: 30 Recommend firing range: Medium to long Same as the 552 just silenced. This gun is very effective if you don\'t go crazy spraying bullets everywhere, take your time and get good shots. Don\'t use this gun if your a newbie. Not a very good gun. Use only for close range levels. Try not to fire while moving because for some reason the pellet pread increases when you move. Honestly I think they should remove this gun and make the TA 12 Gauge useable for both sides. TA 12 Gauge (Franchi SPAS12) Volume: 7 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 6 Fire Speed: 2.5 Modes: Single Power: Varies upon range Scope: No Clip Ammo: 12 Recommend firing range: Short Same as the M3 12 Gauge but only single shot, still fires fairly fast (almost as fast as a pistol). Personally I like this shotgun more than the M3 12 Gauge since I thikn the M3 is a cheap newbie weapon that is overused. The TA 12 Gauge much like the 12 Gauge Pump requires skill to use since you need to get very close to make use of it\'s power. 2e GRENADE LAUNCHERS ==================== M79 Volume: 2 Accuracy: Varies Recoil: 1 Fire Speed: 1 Modes: Single Power: 10 Scope: No Recommend firing range: Medium to long Grenade launcher that requires you to reload after every shot. I don\'t recommend using this gun because you might get voted out of a game. MGL Volume: 2 Accuracy: Varies Recoil: 1 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 10 Scope: No Recommend firing range: Medium to long Grenade launcher with a rotating thingy so you only need to reload after the thingy is empty. Like the M79 I don\'t recommend this since you could get voted off. 2f HANDGUNS =========== M9 Volume: 3 Accuracy: 5 Recoil: 5 Fire Speed: 2 Modes: Single Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 13 Recommend firing range: Short to medium Crappy, move on. Model 18 (Glock 18) Volume: 3 Accuracy: 3 Recoil: 10 Fire Speed: 8 Modes: Single-Auto Power: 1 Scope: No Clip Ammo: 17 Recommend firing range: Short High recoil makes this a mini-M14 with less power of course. 2g EQUIPMENT ============ M67 Basic grenade, this will hurl shrapnel in a wide radius giving it lots of range. What is the best SEAL/Terrorist gun? A. There is no \"best\" gun in SOCOM 2. Every map calls for certain guns and even then certain situations call for certain guns. In the end is pretty much just preference. Q. I shot a guy in the chest with a M82A1A/M87ELR and he didn\'t die what\'s wrong? A. This is a common question, chances are you missed. But everyone in awhile when you shoot someone and they won\'t be damaged. This is probably due to lag or poor programming. Q. Yeah right every shot you land will do damage even if it\'s not noticable A. I\'m sorry but the fact is the game is messed up and it will occur. I\'ve tested this with the M87ELR shooting and idle terrorist in the chest, every once in awhile it didn\'t hurt the terrorist at all proving my theory. Q. I emptied and entire clip on someone and he didn\'t die what happend? A. Well, like I said before sometimes not all hits will count. And also every bullet that hits the arms and legs will do very minimal damage which gives the feeling that people now have more \"life\". But in reality it\'s just because hits to the limbs no longer deal high amounts of damage. ========================================================================== vi.
