1. Introduction

===============================================================================

Wander has travelled for many miles to reach the Shrine of Wonder in a desolate
land. The land is cursed, but rumours have been spread that it has the power to
bring back the dead. For days on end Wander has only had his horse Agro for
company, although he has brought with him the body of a girl named Mono that he
intends to bring back to life. A being named Dormin speaks to Wander from the
top of the shrine and learns of his reason for travelling to the land. He tells
Wander that the only way to revive Mono is to destroy the idols in the shrine
that are represented by sixteen colossi that inhabit the land. Inspired by this
new hope, Wander sets off in search of the first colossus.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.1. First Colossus: Valus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING VALUS

The game begins with Wander facing toward Mono on the altar. Run down the steps
in front of the altar, turn left and run down the steps on the left to arrive
outside. The camera should follow quite well automatically, but you can use the
right analog stick if you want to have more control over camera movements. Hold
circle when outside to raise the sword into the air. If the beams that reflect
off the sword are spread apart, move in a direction until the beams focus on a
point in the distance. If you have the vibration option on, the controller will
vibrate when you hit the correct point. It's a long way from here to there, and
although you could run all the way, there is a much faster mode of transport.
But first of all we need to find him, so press X to call for Agro the horse.

Stand at the side of Agro and press triangle to jump on. You can still hold the
sword up to point out the current destination while riding the horse by holding
circle. To make Agro walk, press X once. To make him trot, press X again. This
is still slower than Wander can run, so press X once more to start galloping.
That's more like it. Agro will slow down if you don't remind him, so press X
every so often to keep the speed up. Keep on following the merged beams of the
sword until you see a set of steps steps leading up between two stone pillars.
Run up the steps and the music will change at the top. In a short cutscene the
camera will move up to the top of the mountain. The game seems to be pointing
us toward that location, so dismount from Agro by pressing triangle.

It can be quite a difficult climb to the top of the mountain if you haven't had
any experience with climbing yet. Climbing is one of the most essential actions
in the game though, so it's best to get to grips with it as early as possible.
Walk toward the wall with the green leaves on it and jump by pressing triangle.
While in the air, hold R1 to grab on. From here you can move in all directions
by moving the left analog stick, though for now we just want to move up. While
scaling the wall take a glance at the pink circle at the bottom-right corner of
the screen. This represents Wander's grip strength, and the meter will decrease
gradually as Wander climbs around. The meter will remain still if Wander stops
while climbing, and will be refilled when Wander is standing. It's important to
keep watching the meter, as Wander will fall if the meter empties completely.

Wander will automatically grab the edge at the top of the wall. Press triangle
to jump up to the path above. Turn left and follow the path to see a small gap
that has to be jumped. Hold left on the left analog stick and press triangle to
jump safely over to the other side. Run to the left side of the path and jump
up to grab onto the edge of the path above. Again, just press triangle to jump
to the path above. Instead of tapping triangle, you can hold the button down to
charge the jump. On this wall it only makes Wander jump up slightly faster, but
later on the jump will be essential for jumping quickly upward. Run right over
the black bridge and jump over the next gap on the other side.

Dive roll under the fallen rock by pressing R1 and triangle at the same time,
and then climb up the next two ledges. Face left on top of the ledge to see a
thin ledge. The ledge is the final obstacle before the top of this mountain,
and can be tricky due to the combination of controls that have to be used. Jump
to grab the thin ledge and start moving around to the left. After passing the
second corner, a path will be visible behind Wander. Keep R1 held, but also
hold down on the left analog stick. Next press triangle to jump back across the
gap to grab onto the next section of path. Press triangle again to pull up to
the ledge. Run up to the top of the slope to see Valus, the first colossus.

DEFEATING VALUS

Don't worry about the size of the colossus. Just run toward him until the music
starts to play, which indicates that Wander has been seen. You can hold L1 at
this point to look up toward Valus, and even if you run away Wander will still
look back if L1 is held. After getting near enough, Valus will either strike
with his club or stamp with his foot. Either way, quickly roll away by holding
a direction on the left analog stick and pressing triangle. Dormin may speak at
this point to mention that the sword can be used to reveal vital points. Test
this out by hold circle to shine the rays toward Valus, which focus on the top
of his head. To get all the way up there, we're going to have climb. Run around
to the back of the left leg and jump onto the fur to start the ascent.

There will be a glowing green spot on the fur just above the foot. Move around
until Wander is positioned over the fur, and then raise the sword by holding
square. You may be interrupted by Valus' movements which can throw Wander off
balance, but keep that R1 button held and you should be fine. Release square
after raising the sword to stab it into the vital spot. Valus will roar, and
he will kneel down on his left leg for a few seconds. Take this opportunity to
run up to the top of the fur and jump onto the top thin ledge behind the knee.
If you landed on the bottom ledge, just jump and grab again to land on the top
ledge. Tap triangle from the ledge to jump up and grab onto more fur. Climb up
to the next ledge, move right slightly and jump up to the platform above.

The platform on the lower back is a good place to rest after all that climbing,
as by now the pink circle that represent Wander's grip strength should almost
be gone. Wait here until the circle is filled again, but even when resting here
it's a good idea to stay close to the fur and be ready to press R1 just in case
Wander starts to fall. Climb up the fur on the back and ignore the platforms on
either side. We've already had a rest on the previous platform, so there's no
need to use these smaller ones. Continue climbing up to the shoulders. Although
less safe than the platform earlier on, it's fine to let go and have another
rest from the climb. Valus will move his head around frequently in an attempt
to make Wander fall, so just keep the R1 button at the ready.

After the grip strength meter is once again full, walk onto the top of Valus'
head and grab onto the fur. You should notice a glowing vital point spot, very
similar to the one on his leg only much brighter. This is the main vital point
that the rays of the sword pointed to when it was raised. Climb onto the vital
point and raise the sword high by holding square. After the attack is charged,
release square to plunge the sword into the head of the colossus. A significant
amount of energy is taken off the health meter at the top of the screen. Do two
more charged stabs into the vital point and Valus will fall to the floor. Black
tendrils escape from the defeated colossus that Wander cannot escape from. When
they touch him, Wander falls and is returned to the shrine of worship.

DEFEATING VALUS (HARD MODE)

Make your way up to the vital point on the head of the colossus and stab it.
Each vital point will take many more charged stabs with the sword before it
disappears in hard mode. Unlike in normal mode, Valus will still have energy
remaining after the vital point disappears. Climb down the fur onto the right
platform on his back to see the vital point on the back of his right arm. Jump
onto the fur and stab the point to defeat the colossus.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.2. Second Colossus: Quadratus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING QUADRATUS

Exit the shrine and raise the sword into the air. This time, the light points
to a location behind the shrine. Ride Agro around the left side of the shrine
to see three stone statues in the distance. Ride between the right statues and
follow the bridge over the water. A cutscene will play on the other side and
the camera moves down to a sandy area below. Follow the right path down to this
area and then turn right to see the pillars of the massive bridge above. Run
past the pillars and turn right again to see what seems to be a big door in the
mountain. Run toward the door and the second colossus will appear.

DEFEATING QUADRATUS

As his name implies, Quadratus walks on all four legs instead of on two legs
like the previous colossus. Dismount Agro and run toward Quadratus to stand in
front of him. Press right on the d-pad to select the bow, and then just stay
still and wait for Quadratus to walk toward Wander. When he gets close enough,
he will raise both of his front feet in the air. Quickly hold square, use the
left analog stick to aim the arrow to the bottom of either foot and then
release square to shoot the arrow. When the arrow hits the bottom of his foot,
Quadratus will fall on that knee and Wander can then grab onto the fur on his
leg. It his possible to shoot his back foot and climb up his back leg, but this
is more difficult to do as he doesn't raise his back feet very high.

Once on the fur, it is then quite a simple climb onto his back. If you climbed
the front leg, there is a platform on his shoulder where Wander can rest, and
from there just move left until you can climb up the fur onto his lower back.
If you climbed the the back leg, you will already be on the lower back. The bow
may still be selected at this point, so press right on the d-pad to select the
sword, which will reveal the vital point on the bottom of his spine. Climb over
to the vital point and stab it with the sword until it disappears. Instead of
this defeating the colossus, it will carry on walking with some health still
remaining, meaning that there must be a second vital point.

From the lower back, run forward to the head and jump over all of the ledges on
the way. Quadratus may start shaking at some point as he notices that Wander is
still there, but as long as you stand close to the spine he shouldn't be able
to throw you off. It's still a good idea to be ready to press R1 just in case
Wander does lose his step. With the sword selected, the second vital point is
visible on top of Quadratus' head. Grab onto the fur and Quadratus may start
shaking even more vigorously, though providing the grip meter is full Wander
won't be in any danger of falling off. When ready to continue, stab the sword
into the vital point a few times to defeat Quadratus. Once again the tendrils
attack Wander, and he returns to the shrine of worship.

DEFEATING QUADRATUS (HARD MODE)

When he raises both of his front legs, shoot an arrow at the leg on Quadratus'
left side. Climb up to the top of the leg and move right to find the new vital
point on the side of his body. As with normal mode you can also shoot the back
legs, although this is more difficult as Quadratus doesn't raise them as high.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.3. Third Colossus: Gaius
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING GAIUS

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see that the rays point once more to an
area behind the shrine. Ride Agro around the left side of the shrine and go
between the right two statues to return to the bridge that was crossed on the
way to the second colossus. This time, take the left path on the other side of
the bridge and turn left to ride across the sand. The rays that reflect off the
sword lead to a path between two mountains. Follow the path to arrive in an
area with a big pool of water which has an island in the middle of it. Dismount
Agro and jump into the water to start swimming to the path in the distance. Use
the left analog stick to change direction, and hold R1 to swim slightly faster
under the surface of the water. You can use the right analog stick to move the
camera around for a better view while Wander is swimming under the water.

Eventually you should make it over to the path leading out of the water. Start
running up the path and either hold L2 to position the camera behind Wander, or
use the right analog stick to make small movements with the camera. There is a
long jump to a ledge at the end of the path, made more difficult because it is
set at an angle. Move the camera to face toward the ledge, and then jump off
the top-right corner of the path to grab the ledge. Don't worry if you fall, as
Wander won't die if he falls from this height into the water. Just swim back to
the path if this happens and climb up again. From the ledge, move around the
corner on the right and then jump back from the ledge to grab the edge of the
path below. Pull up onto the ledge and start running up to the left. Jump over
the gap in the path and then run up the steps to see the third colossus.

DEFEATING GAIUS

Gaius holds a large sword which he uses to attack Wander with. He will either
stab straight down into the ground which creates a hole in the grass, or will
attack by striking at an angle. When he uses the second attack, Wander can run
up the sword and jump on the fur at the top. However, it is not possible to
climb far up the arm at the moment as the route is blocked by a bracelet. To
remove the bracelet, run to the stone platform in the middle of the area and
press L1 to focus on Gaius. Wait until he raises his sword and is just about to
attack, and then roll out of the way. He will hit the platform and the impact
will break the bracelet on his arm. Now just wait until he attacks with the
sword again, then run up it and start climbing up the arm at the top.

With the bracelet now gone, Wander can climb up past the elbow to a rest point
on the back of the arm. Recover the grip strength meter and continue climbing
up the arm to the top of his head, where the first vital point is found. Stab
the vital point with the sword until it disappears, leaving half of the energy
bar still remaining. While doing this, Gaius may duck his head forward for a
few seconds, so it's really just a case of hanging on for the ride as Wander
will be unable to move away. If the grip strength meter is over half full,
Wander will have enough strength to hang on. If the meter is nearly empty, get
off the head as soon as possible and jump onto the neck for a rest. The neck is
a safer place than the head, where it is much easier to fall off.

After stabbing the first vital point, run down toward the shoulders to see a
thin ledge on the upper back. Slide down the back and grab onto the ledge, and
then let go to drop down to a platform on the lower back. It may look like you
will fall down to the floor, but as the platform sticks out so far it is quite
easy to land on. From here you can either run around the platform toward the
front, or to be safer just grab the fur and start climbing around to the left.
Although Gaius may go start shaking madly at this point, this is a safe place
to rest if needed as the platform is quite wide. On the front of the platform,
the second vital point will be visible on Gaius' stomach. Climb on the fur and
stab the sword into the vital point to defeat the third colossus.

DEFEATING GAIUS (HARD MODE)

After stabbing the second vital point, jump right from the platform and grab
the fur on Gaius' left arm. From here you can climb around to the back of the
arm. Climb up the fur toward the shoulder to find the final vital point.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.4. Fourth Colossus: Phaedra
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING PHAEDRA

Exit the shrine and raise the sword. This time the rays point toward a mountain
in the distance, just left of where the first colossus was found. Ride Agro
toward the point to go through a gap between the rocks. Turn slightly right on
the other side of the gap and continue to follow the path along to arrive in a
bright grass area. A cutscene plays where the camera moves to a structure on
the grass. Turn right and ride down to the bottom of the path. Turn left and
ride to the other side of the area to see the colossus.

DEFEATING PHAEDRA

Dismount Agro and run straight back away from the colossus toward the structure
that the camera focused on in the cutscene. Jump up the ledge and run down the
steps in the tunnel. Don't worry about leaving Agro outside, as he will be fast
enough to avoid the colossus when it gets near. Press L1 at the bottom of the
steps to look toward the tunnel entrance. The ground will start to shake and
chunks of rock will fall when Phaedra gets near, but they won't harm Wander.
Follow the tunnel around to see more steps leading up. Run left and go up the
first set of steps to exit the tunnel at a point behind Phaedra. He will still
be busy attacking the tunnel that he saw Wander go down, so quickly run behind
him and when he crouches, jump and grab onto the bottom of his tail.

Once on the tail, jump again to the second ledge and then jump once more to the
fur. The colossus will realise that Wander is on his back at this point, so he
will start shaking his body in an attempt to throw him off. Climb onto his back
when he stops moving and rest there until the grip strength meter is restored.
There are small platforms at either side of the back, although it is best to
rest on the top of the back as the platforms are close to the edge. If you fall
off the edge here, there is no fur to grab onto on the way down. Run up to the
neck and stab the weak point with the sword. Phaedra will lower his head for a
few seconds, so quickly run over to the top of his head to see the only vital
point on this colossus. Stab the vital point with the sword to defeat Phaedra.

DEFEATING PHAEDRA (HARD MODE)

There are two new vital points on Phaedra's front shoulders. It's best to deal
with these vital points before the head vital point, as climbing back from the
head to the body can be tricky due to Phaedra's movements.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.5. Fifth Colossus: Avion
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING AVION

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see that the rays point once more to a
familiar direction in the east. Ride Agro in the direction of the rays to start
riding along a path at the edge of the mountains. Don't worry about riding too
close to the edge, as Agro will automatically move out of the way if he gets
near. There is a sharp right corner, and after this the path leads to a wide
foggy grass area. The light from the sword will get dimmer here, but you will
still be able to make out a path at the other side of the area.

Follow the path to the end to arrive in an area to see some ruins of an ancient
structure. Agro refuses to go any further at this point because of the water,
so dismount. Drop into the water and look forward to see the tip of an arch.
Most of the arch is underwater, but it is still possible to swim through to the
other side by holding R1. Wander will arrive in a smaller area which has a
tower in the middle of it. Jump onto the platform that circles the bottom of
the tower, and then climb up all of the the ledges to the top. Run across the
bridge and climb the steps on the other side to see the fifth colossus.

DEFEATING AVION

Drop through the nearby crack in the ground to land in the water below. Look
east to see a series of platforms on the other side of the area. Keep L1 held
and swim toward Avion to see some rectangle platforms that are level with the
surface of the water. Jump onto any of the platforms. Equip the bow and shoot
an arrow at Avion to make him leave his platform. He should fly toward Wander,
so quickly jump when he gets near to grab the fur on his wing. If you miss
grabbing onto the fur the first time, you will need to hit Avion with another
arrow to cause him to swoop down again. Don't use L1 and square to do this, as
Wander will usually miss. Instead, fire in front of where Avion is flying, and
by the time he gets to that point the arrow will hit him.

Once on the fur, start climbing up the wing to arrive on Avion's back. You can
rest for a few seconds while he is flying straight forward, although unlike the
other colossus you will also have the wind to deal with, which blows Wander in
the direction of the tail. Avion will frequently flap his wings and make sharp
changes in direction, and when this happens it is best just hang onto the fur
until it is safe to let go again. Make your way to the bottom of the left wing
and wait until he starts flying calmly. Now quickly run across the blank area
on the wing and grab the fur on the other side. Stab the vital point and Avion
will fly upside down for a few seconds. This take a lot off the grip strength,
meter so return to Avion's back and rest as soon as he turns the right way up.

The next vital point can be found on the tip of the right wing, so follow the
same method used for the left wing. Remember to try and keep the grip strength
meter as high as possible before stabbing the second point, as Avion will once
again turn upside down when he is hit. After the vital point has disappeared,
return to the body and rest until the grip strength meter is full again. For
the final vital point, move down toward Avion's tail. You can either climb all
the way down the fur, or run if Avion is flying calmly. The tail does get thin
toward the end however, so it's easier to get blown off by the wind. Grab onto
the fur at the tip of the tail and stab the final vital point to defeat Avion.

DEFEATING AVION (HARD MODE)

Avion will flap his wings much more frequently in hard mode. After stabbing the
vital point on each wing once, Avion will also fly upside down for longer than
he normally does, so go back to rest on his back after each stab. After Wander
has stabbed the vital point a few times, Avion will throw him off after two of
the vital points have disappeared and you will need to return to the platforms
and shoot arrows toward him again to climb back on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.6. Sixth Colossus: Barba
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING BARBA

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point to a new location in
the south-west. Ride Agro in this direction to see a large rock. The right side
of the rock only leads to a dead end, so go around the left side of the rock
and ride along at the side of the mountain to arrive in a forest. Ride through
to the other side of the forest and take the north-west exit to a wide bridge
above the ground that ends in a tunnel. Turn left on the other side of the
tunnel and ride down to the desert. Raise the sword to see the rays point to a
wall at the south-west corner of the desert. Ride toward this point and then
turn right to see a big stone platform Dismount Agro and jump on the platform.

Run to the middle of the platform and drop down the gap. Turn left and jump
through the gap between the small blocks to land on a set of steps on the other
side. Run down the steps and turn right after passing the arch. Climb over the
blocks, follow the corner around to the left and climb over the next two sets
of blocks. Run down the steps and a cutscene will play that shows a zoomed out
view of the area. Run forward and go through the broken arch. As Wander starts
to fall, grab onto the edge of the platform and then drop to the ledge below.
From here just drop down the ledges on the wall to arrive at the bottom of the
area. A massive door will lower and the sixth colossus will appear.

DEFEATING BARBA

The first aim is to run all the way over to the south side of the area. On the
way, you will find the route blocked by a wall. You can either climb on top of
one of the pillars on the wall, or you can wait for Barba to walk near. He will
raise his arm to attack, so quickly dive out of the way. His hand will hit the
wall and will break a large portion of it, leaving Wander free to run through
the gap. You can even just wait for Barba to walk into the wall, as this will
also destroy it. Run up the steps on the other side to see another wall. Again,
choose whether to climb over the wall using the pillars or wait for Barba to
attack. Eventually you should find your way over to the south side of the room,
where you can run between the pillars to hide from Barba. Wait here until he
crouches down to look for Wander, then quickly run out and jump onto his beard.

Once on the beard, climb up and to the right onto his shoulder. You can then
run onto the back to have a rest for a few seconds. Barba will attempt to shake
Wander off, but as long as you stay near the spine he shouldn't succeed. After
he stops shaking, run up to the top of his head and grab onto the fur there.
Stab the vital point until it disappears, still leaving half of the health bar.
Return to the back and rest to recover the grip strength meter. The final vital
point is on the left side of Barba's lower back, so start climbing down the fur
at the left side of his body. It's important to have good grip strength at this
point, as Barba will begin shaking wildly to throw Wander off. Don't try and
rest on the thin platform on Barba's back, as it's not wide enough for Wander
to stand on. Climb down to the vital point and stab it to defeat Barba.

DEFEATING BARBA (HARD MODE)

After Barba bends down to check under the pillars for Wander, jump onto the fur
on the back of his left hand to find the new vital point.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.7. Seventh Colossus: Hydrus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING HYDRUS

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point behind the shrine.
Ride Agro around the left side of the shrine, then ride between the two right
stone statues to return to the bridge over the water. Follow the left path on
the other side of the bridge and then turn left in the desert. Ride to the
mountain in the distance and turn left, staying close to the rock to arrive on
a path. The path leads to the lake area where the third colossus was fought.
Ride along the path at the left side of the lake, which leads to another path
between two high cliffs. Turn right at all three of the junctions in the path
to arrive in a vast area with a small tower in the middle.

Turn left and ride toward the tall pillars at the top of the next slope to see
a wall. Ride through the thin arch at the right side of the wall to arrive on a
bridge. Go to the other side of the bridge to see that some of it has fallen.
Dismount Agro and drop down to the next section of the bridge below. Jump over
the gap at the end of the bridge to land on the spiral structure. Run down the
spiral and drop down the first gap that you come to. The drop won't hurt Wander
as he will only fall down to a lower section of the path. Continue down to the
water at the bottom of the spiral to find the seventh colossus.

DEFEATING HYDRUS

Although staying in the water with a huge colossus swimming underwater may not
seem like a wise idea, Hydrus will not actually attack until Wander makes his
move first. Hydrus will occasionally rise up out of the water, and when this
happens you should notice the three electric spikes on his back. The spikes can
damage Wander if they hit him, although they are very easy to avoid as all you
have to do is swim away from them. Keep on tracking Hydrus by holding the L1
button. If you lose sight of him, just look for the electric spikes that glow
brightly underwater. Try and wait above Hydrus when he emerges from the water.
The electric spikes will appear first of all, and then the tail will splash out
of the water. Quickly hold R1 to grab the fur on the tail.

The grip strength meter will change to the oxygen meter underwater, but don't
worry about it running out as Hydrus will frequently resurface. When his back
does come out of the water, quickly run forward as far as you can and then grab
onto the fur again before he goes back under the water. The aim is to run up to
the first spike on his back, but be careful not to get too close to start with.
Each time Hydrus dives underwater, sparks will fly out from the spike which can
take a lot of health off of Wander. Hold onto the fur a short distance away
from the spike until Hydrus resurfaces once again, and then quickly run toward
the spike and stab the weak point just in front of it. The spike will go dead
after the weak point has been stabbed, so Wander is now safe to move around it.

With the first spike dead, run up to the second spike when Hydrus returns to
the surface again and treat this one the same way by not standing near it. Stab
the weak point in front of the spike to break it, then continue up to the third
spike at destroy it in the same way. Hydrus may start swimming underwater for a
long time at this point and the oxygen meter will start to run out. Don't worry
if it does, because no matter how deep Wander is underwater when the oxygen
meter runs out, he will swim safely back to the surface. Climb past the third
spike to see the vital point on the top of Hydrus' head. Hydrus will shake his
head around to try and throw Wander off at this point, but just keep holding on
and he will be fine. When Hydrus surfaces, stab the vital point to defeat him.

DEFEATING HYDRUS (HARD MODE)

Hydrus tends to swim from side to side more than he does usually, but apart
from this there are no other noticable differences between difficulties.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.8. Eighth Colossus: Kuromori
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING KUROMORI

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the rays point toward an area just
left of where the first colossus was found. Ride Agro in the direction of the
light and go through the gap in the mountain. Turn left on the other side to
arrive in a wide grassy area. Ride straight across the area and go through the
tunnel on the other side to find a path near a waterfall. Jump off Agro and run
along to the slightly wider area at the end of the path. Run south into the new
area, then turn right and follow the path around to the sunlit area. Raise the
sword now and the light will point to a doorway in the distance.

Run through the shallow water and then continue forward to the doorway. Run
down the steps to arrive in a large room with a pillar on either side. Jump
onto either pillar, then jump and climb up to the top ledge. Move around to the
other side of the pillar and jump back onto the path. Follow this path around
the corner and drop down off the right edge of the path. Jump up to the ledge
at the other side of the room, then jump up to the ledge on the left and then
jump up to the next ledge on the right. Finally, jump up to the highest ledge
to exit the small room. Run down the steps in front to find the colossus.

DEFEATING KUROMORI

Turn right and go down the steps in front. After running down eight sets of the
steps, turn right to see a broken section of path that Wander can look over.
Kuromori will be walking aimlessly around in the area below, so whistle to gain
his attention. Now while the other colossi didn't actually harm Wander unless
they actually got close, Kuromori will hurl projectiles that can take a large
chunk off of Wander's health. As soon as Kuromori looks toward Wander, get out
of the way by hiding behind a wall as quickly as possible. Follow the path
around to the other side of the area to see that the colossus is climbing up
the wall to search for Wander. Equip the bow and fire at one of his front feet
to make him start to slip off the wall. Quickly shoot another arrow at his
other front foot, and he will fall down to the bottom of the area.

Quickly jump forward to land on the same level as the colossus. Run toward him
and jump onto his tail, then move toward his stomach and grab the fur to stab
the vital point with the sword. You may not have enough time to make the vital
point disappear, as Kuromori will flip up the right way after a few seconds and
Wander will fall to the floor. Quickly run up the steps before the colossus
starts to throw the projectiles again. Repeat the method to make Kuromori fall
to the floor again, and stab the first vital point again until it disappears.
Continue further up the stomach toward the neck to see the final vital point.
You may be thrown off again before you have a chance to get to it, so return
to the vital point when you can and stab it to defeat the colossus.

DEFEATING KUROMORI (HARD MODE)

A more difficult battle as Kuromori will stand up after Wander has stabbed only
a few times. Listen out for the music while on Kuromori's stomach, and jump off
when it starts to go quiet as this means that he is about to stand up. Try and
make Kuromori fall from as high as possible, as he will be stunned for longer
and this gives more time for Wander to stab the vital points.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.9. Ninth Colossus: Basaran
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING BASARAN

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point behind the shrine.
Ride Agro around the left side of the shrine, then ride between the two left
stone statues to follow the bridge over the water. Continue forward in the
direction of the sword beam to cross a large field. When you get near the
mountain, turn left and follow it to the end to come to a chasm. Turn left and
follow the edge of the cliff around to a dry field with geysers in it. Run into
the dark cave at the right side of the area to find the colossus.

DEFEATING BASARAN

Stay on Agro and run toward the middle of the area while keeping L1 held. Like
Kuromori, Basaran can also fire objects toward Wander. Quickly ride to one side
whenever he fires, and carry on moving to the geysers. The aim is to stand just
past one of the geysers and wait to lure Basaran onto one of them. It will take
a while, as he moves quite slowly and will fire many projectiles on the way.
When he finally stands on top of the circle surrounding the geyser, wait for
the water to knock him off balance. As he is so large he only moves slightly,
but it is enough that his feet on one side reveal their weak points. Shoot the
back leg and the front leg, and he will then topple over to one side. Jump off
Agro and run around to his stomach to start climbing up the fur onto his back.

Jump up the ledges at the top of the fur, and then run around to his tail to
see a path leading between the spikes on his back. Be careful as there is no
fur to grab onto, so get ready to press R1 just in case Wander needs to grab
onto the edge. Quickly run down between the spikes to arrive at Basaran's head,
and select the sword if you haven't already to reveal the vital point. Quickly
grab onto the fur on top of Basaran's head, and be prepared to hold R1 for a
while as he shakes about. When all is calm again, do a few charged stabs with
the sword to attack the vital point. This is the only vital point that Basaran
has, so keep attacking it until disappears to defeat the colossus.

DEFEATING BASARAN (HARD MODE)

The projectiles will take a lot more health off of Wander, so stay on Agro
while on the ground so that Wander can quickly ride to one side to avoid them.
The vital point takes more stabs before it disappears, but Basaran won't throw
Wander off his head so Wander can safely stay on to attack the vital point.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.10. Tenth Colossus: Dirge
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING DIRGE

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point west. Heading west
only leads to a chasm, so ride Agro around the left side of the shrine and then
ride between the two left stone statues to follow the bridge over the water.
Continue forward in the direction of the sword beam to cross a large field.
Turn slightly right at the mountain and follow the path around to the left.
After dropping down to the next field, turn left and run past the tower to see
a cave. Follow the cave through to a massive underground cavern which has tall
pillars growing out of the floor. Run to the middle of the area to find Dirge.

DEFEATING DIRGE

Stay on Agro in this battle, and ride around the room while holding L1 to keep
looking at the colossus. Eventually Dirge will begin rushing toward Wander, and
off the horse the only thing to do would be to roll out of the way. Fortunately
when riding Agro we can look back at the same time, so equip the bow and turn
around on the horse (just move the left analog stick) to face Dirge. Now he
will move along in the ground for a while but after a few seconds his eyes will
poke out above the surface. Quickly aim the sight at one of his eyes and shoot
an arrow at it. A small cutscene will play where Dirge falls. After it, quickly
dismount Agro and run around to Dirge's tail to jump on the fur.

Once on the fur, select the sword and stab the first vital point near the base
of the back. Dirge will throw Wander off his back, so repeat the attack with
Agro and the bow again to climb back on. This time, continue climbing up the
back until you reach the big spike in the middle. From here you can start
running, and even if the colossus does make Wander lose his balance by shaking,
his back is so wide that you can just grab onto more fur after rolling over.
Run behind the spike and grab the fur to see the second vital point. Equip the
sword again and stab the vital point until it disappears to defeat Dirge.

DEFEATING DIRGE (HARD MODE)

The vital points need to be hit a few more times before they disappear, but
otherwise there are no major differences in hard mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.11. Eleventh Colossus: Celosia
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING CELOSIA

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to the light point once again to a location
behind the shrine. Ride Agro around the left side of the shrine, then ride
between the two right stone statues to return to the bridge over the water.
Cross the bridge and ride north through the sandy area to see the pillars that
support the massive bridge above. Ride through any gap between the pillars and
continue north through the vast desert until you come to a chasm. Follow the
edge of the chasm chasm around to the right until you see a broken arch.
Dismount Agro and drop off the edge of the chasm to land on a path below.

Either run all the way down this path, or just jump from the top to land in the
water at the bottom. Swim north over to the other side of the water and then
run north-west to go up the slope. Follow the path west at the top and ignore
the first turn on the left. Run up the steps at the end of the path and go
through the arch to enter a temple. Turn left and run up the steps, then jump
over the chasm at the top. It's quite a long jump, so be ready to grab onto the
edge on the other side. Pull up onto the floor to find Celosia.

DEFEATING CELOSIA

This small colossus is very fast, so keep watching him and be ready to roll out
of the way when he charges at Wander. There are four torches on platforms in
this room, and there are ledges at the side of them. Climb up the ledges onto
the platform and wait for Celosia to ram into the platform. When he does, a
stick will be thrown down onto the floor. Pick up the stick by using the R1
button and then climb back up to a torch platform. Walk toward the fire and the
stick will start to burn. With the stick on fire, drop off the platform and
walk toward Celosia. He will be frightened of the burning stick, and will back
up when Wander walks toward him. He will swipe if Wander gets too near, so stay
back. Keep him walking back until he falls off the edge of the cliff.

When Celosia has fallen, select the sword and drop down onto the fur on his
back. If you miss, Celosia will start moving around again and you will have to
run up the path to return to the torch room. Celosia will charge quickly if
you miss, and you will need to dodge out of the way as soon as you stand up.
After returning to the torch room, stand on one of the platforms, but this
time when Celosia charges the armour on his back will have been broken by the
fall, so you can jump onto his back. Either way, Wander should finally arrive
on the fur on Celosia's back. Stab the vital point to defeat the colossus.

DEFEATING CELOSIA (HARD MODE)

There are no major differences in hard mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.12. Twelfth Colossus: Pelagia
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING PELAGIA

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point north-east. Ride
Agro around the right side of the shrine and follow the beam to a chasm. Turn
right and ride forward east until you see a bridge leading off to the north.
Ride across to the other side of this curvy bridge and continue north over the
field. Turn left after passing the tower and ride west to see two pillars on
the right. Ride between the pillars and cross the bridge to enter a forest.
Ride north until you come to a chasm, then turn right and ride to a wall. At
the wall, turn right again and then run south to the exit.

Turn left and follow the path at the side of the mountain along to a waterfall.
Dismount Agro. At the waterfall, run up to the top of the steps to see a pillar
on the right. Jump onto the bottom ledge and climb all the way around to the
right to drop down to the path below. Follow this next path up to the top and
jump down to the water. Look north-east to see a massive arches in the wall.
Swim through an arch to enter a large water area with platforms around the
edge. Swim to the platform in the middle of the area to see the colossus.

DEFEATING PELAGIA

Jump into the water when the battle starts and swim underwater. This colossus
fires objects which can hit Wander while he swims on the surface, but he will
be safe when swimming underwater. Swim to one of the structures at the edge of
the area and exit the water to run into the structure. Run behind the stone
object in the middle of the structure and hold R1 to crouch behind it. Look
toward Pelagia with L1 and stay there until he fires the objects. Take a look
at the horns that fire the objects and shoot one of them with the bow. He will
lower his head slightly, giving just enough time to jump onto it. To do this,
jump onto one of the platforms at the side of the structure and then jump from
the platform to one of the ledges on Pelagia's head.

Once on Pelagia's head, move around to the right until you come to a gap in the
stones. From here you can jump up to the fur on top of the head. The aim here
is to direct the colossus toward one of the structures at the edge of the area.
Hit the left stone to turn him left and the right stone to turn right. When he
gets close to the structure, jump forward off the head of the colossus to land
on top. Hide behind the rock on top of the structure and wait until Pelagia
fires his usual set of objects. Now just wait here until Pelagia gets close
enough that he raises his front feet onto the roof. Quickly jump off the edge
of the structure and grab onto the fur on Pelagia's stomach.

When Pelagia has nearly been defeated, he will throw Wander off into the water.
Now instead of climbing all the way back onto one of the structures, just swim
around behind Pelagia and jump onto the fur above his tail. Climb all the way
back up to his head and direct him back to one of the other structures by
hitting the stones. Jump onto the roof of the structure and then wait for
Pelagia to get near again. When he raises his front feet onto the roof, jump
once again onto the fur on his stomach and stab the vital point to defeat him.

DEFEATING PELAGIA (HARD MODE)

The only change here is that the vital point takes many more stabs before it
disappears, so you will be thrown off Pelagia more times than on normal mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.13. Thirteenth Colossus: Phalanx
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING PHALANX

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point south-west. Ride
Agro in this direction and turn right after the rocks to enter the forest that
Wander travelled through on the way to the sixth colossus. Ride through to the
other end of the forest and then travel north-west over the bridge. Go through
the tunnel to return to the desert. From here, follow the beam of the sword
south to the ruined structure in the distance to find the colossus.

DEFEATING PHALANX

Stay on Agro and ride along under the Phalanx. Keep looking up at him to see
that he has three growths under his body: One under the base of his tail, one
under his stomach and one under his head. Select the bow and shoot an arrow
into all of the growths. This can be more difficult than it sounds, as Phalanx
is flying high above the ground and by the time you shoot an arrow in the right
direction, it will normally miss by a few meters. Don't worry too much about
using L1 when you get close, as Wander tends to aim the wrong way. Just use
the left analog stick to aim the bow, and shoot an arrow a few meters in front
of the growth that you're aiming for. After all three growths have been hit,
Phalanx will start flying close to the ground. Ride Agro along at the side
either wing at top speed and then jump off to grab a ledge on the wing.

Once on the wing, jump of all of the ledges and then jump from the wing onto
the fur on the back. Start by climbing down in the direction of his tail first
of all. On the way, you'll pass a tall ridge on the back that has an impression
behind it. Equip the sword, drop into the impression and stab the vital point.
Come out from behind the ridge and grab the fur, as Phalanx may turn all the
way over and you need to be holding on to stop from falling off. After Phalanx
flies normally again, run toward the head and stab the vital point behind the
second ridge until it disappears. Soon after this, Phalanx will dive into the
sand and when he reappears, all of his growths will be restored. Ride Agro
under the colossus and shoot the growths again. Climb up the wing and stab the
final vital point behind the ridge near the head to defeat the colussus.

DEFEATING PHALANX (HARD MODE)

The vital points need to be hit a few more times before they disappear, so you
may be thrown off of Phalanx twice instead of once in hard mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.14. Fourteenth Colossus: Cenobia
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING CENOBIA

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point north-west. Ride
Agro around the left side of the shrine and then ride between the two left
stone statues to follow the bridge over the water. Turn slightly left on the
other side and ride in the direction of the light. If you arrive at the chasm,
just run left around the edge until you can continue across the field. When
Wander finally arrives at the mountain, a small tower should be visible. Turn
left at the tower and ride up the mountain path until you come to an open area.
Ride west to the group of trees at the south-west corner, then run over the
platform in the grass and ride north-west through the next group of trees.

This long journey between the mountains eventually leads to an open area where
pillars are visible on the left. Ride between the first set of pillars to see
many more pillars on either side of a path. Ride down to the end of the path to
enter a cave with water at the bottom. Agro refuses to go any further, so jump
off and swim south over to the other side of the water. Continue through the
cave until you pass through the arch at the end. A small cutscene will play
that gives a view of the area. Drop down to the platform below and then jump
forward to land on the grass at the bottom of the area. Run through the thin
arch in front and then climb up the pillar at the left side of the path. Jump
forward onto the path and run up the steps at the end to find the colossus.

DEFEATING CENOBIA

Turn left as soon as the battle starts and jump on top of the pillar. Run to
the end of the pillar and jump left to climb up the platform. Run to the other
end of the platform and jump slightly left onto a higher platform. Run to the
end of this platform and drop down to the lower platform on the right. Finally,
run to the end of this platform and jump onto the tall pillar. From here you
can jump up the ledges on the pillar to reach the top. Hold R1 to grab onto the
top of the pillar, as Cenobia will soon charge into it. Wait until he hits it
for a second time and the pillar will then fall over.

With the first pillar down, jump onto it and then jump off the left end to grab
onto the platform above. Run west along the platform and jump the gap to land
on the next section. Jump from the end and pull up to the next platform. Run
along until Wander is near the end of the platform, and then jump down to the
next platform on the left. From here you can jump right onto the next pillar
and climb up the top. Again, just wait for Cenobia to hit the pillar twice and
it will fall over. Jump onto the fallen pillar and jump left onto the next
pillar. Climb up to the top and wait for Cenobia to knock it over. Repeat this
method for the next two pillars. When the fifth pillar has been knocked over,
jump onto it and then jump onto the platform at the end.

From the platform, jump left at the end and grab onto the ledge on the square
platform in the middle of the area. Climb around the corner on the right until
you see the pillar behind. Don't worry about Cenobia, as he won't be able to
hit the square platform down if he hits it more than once. Jump back onto the
pillar and climb up to the top to wait for Cenobia to attack. After he hits the
sixth pillar twice, it will fall into a wall at the side of the area. Jump on
the fallen pillar and run to the end. Drop off and turn slightly left to run to
the corner of the wall that Cenobia just knocked down. One of the pillars at
the right side of the wall can be climbed, so climb up to the top.

At the top of the pillar on the wall, move over to the right side of it and
jump again to grab onto a ledge on the wall. Move right along the ledge until
you see a platform below. From here, jump up again to land on the top ledge and
then pull up to arrive on the path at the top of the wall. Move left to the
middle of the platform and wait for Cenobia to attack. When he does, the bricks
from the structure fall onto him and crack his armour. Now quickly run around
to one of the fallen pillars and jump on it. Hold R1 and wait until Cenobia
runs into it. This time, he will be stunned for a few seconds after he hits it.
Take this time to jump onto his back and stab the vital point with the sword.
He will start to run around wildly after a few hits and Wander will fall from
his back, so just jump back onto another fallen pillar and jump on his back
again after he hits it. Continue to stab the vital point to defeat Cenobia.

DEFEATING CENOBIA (HARD MODE)

There are no major differences in hard mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.15. Fifteenth Colossus: Argus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING ARGUS

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point north-east. Ride
Agro around the right side of the shrine and turn slightly right to see the two
pillars at the start of the bridge. Ride between the pillars and cross over the
bridge to see two large pillars in the distance. Turn left before you get to
the pillars and ride forward to the pillars of the massive bridge. Turn right
after riding between the pillars and then ride north across the desert.

Turn right at the other side of the desert and follow the light from the sword
until you reach the platform in the middle of a large structure. Dismount Agro
and run through the gap to pass the first pillar, then climb up the ledge on
the left and run along to pass the second pillar. Run through the gap at the
end of the room. In the next room, run around to the other side and go up th
steps. Climb up the ledges and run between the pillars at the top of the next
set of steps. Run across to the other side of the area to find the colossus.

DEFEATING ARGUS

Run back to the pillars at the entrance to the area. Just before you reach
them, turn left and jump up to the tiles in front. There is another ledge that
is too high to reach at the moment, so we'll need some help from the colossus.
Wait until he gets near and watch him with the L1 button. As soon as he raises
his foot, roll out of the way. Argus will stamp on the edge of the tile and it
will slope up, so now you can quickly run up it and jump onto the ledge before
he takes his foot off. Run up the steps on the left and follow the path along
to see that a small block has fallen down. Wait here until the colossus attacks
again. A piece of rock will fall down onto the block. Jump onto the rock, then
walk forward slightly and jump onto the ledge behind Wander. Jump again until
you grab onto one of the supports on the path above. Pull up to the path.

Once on the high path, run west and climb up the steps to a higher section of
the area. Run east and go up the slope to arrive on a bridge. Run a little way
onto the bridge and whistle to make Argus walk toward Wander. Now just wait
until he gets close to the bridge and raises his sword. Quickly run back the
way you came to return to the path, as Wander's attack will destroy most of the
bridge, leaving only a small section at either end. He will soon walk under the
bridge so that Wander can jump onto his head. Time the jump carefully as he can
seem to be nearer to the bridge than he actually is. If you do fall, get Argus
to hit another tile so that you can return to the bridge. After making the jump
to his head, grab the fur and stab the first vital point until it disappears.

With the first vital point gone, jump off onto the back and rest to restore the
grip strength meter. Get ready to hold R1 if Argus starts to shake, and make
your way over to the right shoulder. Grab the fur again and start climbing down
the arm toward the elbow, where a small weak point can be seen. Stab the weak
point and Argus will drop his sword. There's no more fur to climb down, so just
drop off the arm to land back on the ground. Now that Argus no longer has his
sword, he will have a new attack where he pounds both of his hands on the
ground. He may just stamp his feet first of all, but keep waiting in front of
him until he attacks with his hands. Now just run around to his right palm and
jump onto the fur. Stab the vital point on the palm to defeat the colossus.

DEFEATING ARGUS (HARD MODE)

Climb down from Argus' left shoulder to find the new vital point on the chest.
It is best to do this after stabbing the vital point on the head and the weak
point on the elbow, as this only leaves the final vital point on the palm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.16. Sixteenth Colossus: Malus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINDING MALUS

Exit the shrine and raise the sword to see the light point south. Ride Agro
south-east and turn left at the mountain. Follow the bottom of the mountain
east to see a trail leading between the mountains. Follow this trail and turn
right at the junction, then follow the path around to a grass field. Ride south
through the field all the way to the pillars at the other end. Ride between the
pillars and dismount Agro. Stand on the disc to see light shining through the
hole in the middle of the door in front. Shine the light from the sword through
the hole in the door and it will open. Ride Agro through the doorway and turn
left at the junction to see steps leading up. Ride up the steps and continue
across the path at the top to jump over to the other side of the gap.

After the cutscene, start climbing the ledges on the wall in front of Wander.
Turn right at the top and climb up the two big blocks. Jump up the steps and
then start climbing up the ivy on the wall. Move over to the right side of the
ivy to continue climbing up. When you reach as high as you can on the ivy, move
left and drop down to the platform below. Jump up the various steps and ledges
until you arrive on another section of path. Run along this path and go through
the arch on the right. Follow the tunnel around to the left and run up both
sets of steps to arrive a drop at the end of the tunnel. There is a pillar at
either side of the path near the drop. Jump onto one of the pillars and start
climbing up. Jump off to one side at the top to find the colossus.

DEFEATING MALUS

Run up the steps and turn slightly right to see a fallen pillar. You won't have
a chance to run anywhere far as Malus will keep shooting fireballs at Wander,
so quickly run toward the pillar and crouch behind it to avoid being hit. With
the first fireball thrown, quickly run to the right and drop down into the
tunnel at the bottom of the steps. Run through the tunnel and crouch behind the
block at the end to avoid the next fireball. Climb up the block and the ledge
and then run behind the small wall in front to avoid the fireball. Run to the
next wall on the right and wait for the next fireball to hit. Do this again to
move to the third, and then the fourth wall. From the fourth wall, wait for the
next fireball to be thrown before dropping down to the tunnel on the right.

Run through the tunnel to arrive on a path that is fortunately hidden from the
colossus. Drop down the two small steps at the end of the path, then jump onto
the ledge on the curved wall and climb around to the right. Jump back at the
end of the ledge to land on a thin mountain path. Wander is currently safe, but
as soon as he looks out from behind the rock the colossus will fire. When
ready, quickly run out into the open and turn sharply left to enter the next
tunnel in front. Follow the tunnel around and climb up the ledges at the end.
Run up the steps on the right and climb up the ledge at the top to hide behind
another wall very near to the colossus. Wait for Valus to fire before quickly
running right to hide behind the next wall. Wait for the next fireball and
then run to the right to hide behind the third wall.

After making it to the third wall, wait for one more fireball before dropping
down to the tunnel on the right. Run up the steps at the end of a tunnel to
see a cutscene where Wander appears below Malus. Run forward and climb up the
ledges on the wall. Turn left at the top and jump onto the next ledge. Climb
along to the right. Drop down to the path, then jump up to the higher ledge on
the right before jumping again to the next section of path. Run left and climb
up the ledges to the path at the top. Jump the gap in front and continue left
until you see more ledges leading up on the wall. Climb the wall and move right
at the top to pull up onto the next section of path. Jump onto one of the small
ledges above the fence and climb up to the top. Continue climbing straight up
the ledges from this point until you reach the fur on Malus' back.

Once on the back, stab the weak point once with the sword. Malus will reach for
his back with his hand, so this gives a good opportunity to jump back from the
fur to land on the hand. The hand does swing slowly, so make sure it is close
to Malus' back before jumping. After grabbing the fur on the hand, wait until
he brings it flat before running up the arm. Jump from his wrists as soon as
you can to jump to the fur on his arm. Stab the weak point on the on the arm
and then jump back onto his other palm when he brings it up. Stab the hand with
the sword and climb around to the back. After he raises his palm, equip the
bow and shoot Malus' left shoulder. He brings his hand up to his shoulder, so
jump and grab the fur on his shoulder. From the shoulder, climb up the neck
onto the head and stab the vital point to defeat the colossus.

DEFEATING MALUS (HARD MODE)

There are no major differences in hard mode.

===============================================================================

3. Time Attack

===============================================================================

Time attack mode is available after the game has been completed once. After
loading the completed game, Wander is able to kneel in front of the statues in
the shrine to start the battle. For every two colossi that are defeated, Wander
receives an item in the pool at the back of the shrine.
