Biohazard Outbreak/Resident Evil Outbreak was released on the Sony Playstation
2 in the Asian region on 11 December 2003. The game is the first in the
Biohazard/Resident Evil series that player can get online to play with the
other players together. However, they have included the offline mode for those
who couldn't play the online mode. The game was formerly known as "Biohazard
Online/Resident Evil Online" when it was first announced. It under-went
several title changes, to "Biohazard Network", "Network Biohazard" before the
title became "Biohazard Outbreak".

This FAQ aims to be the most complete FAQ for the game. Should you find any
errors or wish to provide any information, please email me at

July 1998.

A series of cannibalism cases were reported to be occurring in the forest of
Raccoon City, a mid-western US town. Due to the alarming concern, the police
department, "R.P.D"(Acronym for "Raccoon Police Department") ordered its
own special force unit, the "STARS"(Acronym for "Special Tactics And Rescue
Service") to survey the area and to investigate the matter.

The Bravo team was send in first, but they lost contact with the Alpha team.
Later on, the Alpha team was send in for assistance. Almost the entire STARS
units were wiped out. The survivors that made it back to the R.P.D were
Bravo team medic "Rebecca Chamber", Alpha team members "Chris Redfield",
"Jill Valentine", "Barry Burton" and "Brad Vickers". Alpha team leader, Albert
Wesker, went missing.

The survivors reported that they encountered hideous monsters, apparently
created by Umbrella Company, who had created a virus which can contaminate
living humans and turn them into 'zombies' and the creation of other mutants.
However, the police chief, Brian Iron, refuses to recognise their
'ridiculous' statement. He disbanded the STARS, and ordered the case close.

That doesn't stop the trouble. Reports of missing people and cannibalism
resurfaces in the town. The public began to put pressure on the local police
chief to do something about it. All this while, the virus which the former
STARS member encountered, the "T-virus", had slowly leaked into the town.
The Raccoon City citizens are slowly turning into zombies one by one.

September 1998. The whole town became chaotic, as the zombies began to
invade the city. Now, you play as one of the survivors who haven't been
infected yet. Good luck escaping this town. You need it.

I can say that I am very poor in self introduction, but I am somewhat a
frequent poster in the Resident Evil Online board. I decline to expose my
name too, and let say that this is not the first time I am writing a FAQ. I
have a site for this game, and the URL is this:
www.geocities.com/hongchew85/

As far as future project goes, I'll be writing some more FAQs for the series
prior the release of Resident Evil 4. As you can see, my FAQs for Biohazard
Outbreak/Resident Evil Outbreak is more or less completed, just that I will
need to convert and add some stuffs from the NTSC/NA version of the game.

                        3)BRIEF CHARACTER INTRODUCTION

==============================================================================
##############################################################################
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 --------------------
| BRIEF INTRODUCTION |
 --------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jim Chapman, a hyperactive black guy who works in the subway station of the
Raccoon City. Cowardice and narrow-mindedness describe him best, and this
talkative guy often annoyed the people around him. He loves solving puzzles,
and this skill might come in handy in a way or two in tight situation.

Here is a comparison table between him and the rest of the characters.

========================================================
| CHARACTER | SPEED | VITALITY | INFECTION SPEED |
========================================================
| KEVIN RYMAN | 5 | 4 | C |
--------------------------------------------------------
| YOKO SUZUKI | 1 | 1 | A |
--------------------------------------------------------
| CINDY LENNOX | 3 | 1 | B |
--------------------------------------------------------
| DAVID KING | 4 | 4 | B |
--------------------------------------------------------
| MARK WILKINS | 2 | 5 | C |
--------------------------------------------------------
| JIM CHAPMAN | 2 | 2 | C | <-- JIM
--------------------------------------------------------
| GEORGE HAMILTON | 2 | 3 | B |
--------------------------------------------------------
| ALYSSA ASHCROFT | 4 | 3 | B |
--------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 -------------------------
| WHY USE THIS CHARACTER? |
 -------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jim seems like the worst character in the initial glance, but if used well,
he can be the best character there is. His faking death move enables him to
get through an area unharm easily, and with the pills that delay the virus
gauge are used well, he can obtain a No Damage clear easily. It is best that
you used him along with George as your partner.

| OFFICIAL GAME DESCRIPTION |
 ---------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bio:
A subway employee, he is a friendly and cheerful fellow, but exposes his
cowardice and narrow-mindedness. Even though he means no harm, he talks a lot
and invites frown of disgust from those around him. However, he has powers of
intuition and is very good at solving puzzles.

Personal Items: Coin
This is the coin that Jim is always carrying with him. A casual coin toss can
change his destiny.

Coin Toss: Select the coin from the item list and select "Use" from the item
command.

Special Actions:
PLAYING DEAD: Press the X button continuously while pressing the R1 button.
Enemies will pay him no mind while he is playing dead, so this is
particularly useful when surrounded by enemies. However, as the virus gauge's
speed increases whenever he plays dead, it's important to be careful and not
use this too much.

Other Special characteristics:
Item Search: Even if he is coming to a room for the first time, if the map is
opened up the position of the items in that room will be indicated by a
question mark.
*The type of item is not specified.

##############################################################################
==============================================================================

                      5)CHARACTER SKILL 1: FAKING DEATH

==============================================================================
##############################################################################
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jim is able to lie down on the ground and fake death. In this case, the
monsters(certain monsters) will assume he is death, and will not attack him.
This is useful, but the thing is that when faking death on the ground, his
virus gauge will increase insanely. To solve this problem, use a pill to delay
the virus gauge when you attempt to fake death.

To execute this move, hold R1(or R2) and press the action button. Hold the
action button to fake death, and release the action button only when you are
ready to get up. Even when getting up, the monster will have a brief 'stun'
moment before he realises you. Thus, you can repeatedly lie down, get up, and
proceed slowly past the monster.

##############################################################################
==============================================================================

6)CHARACTER SKILL 2: COIN FLIP & ITEM DETECT

==============================================================================
##############################################################################
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 -----------
| COIN FLIP |
 -----------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The real effect of the coin tossing is that if you flipped 'positive', you get
an additional 15% chance of getting a critical hit from your next shot from
any gun.

If you flip positive again, you get an another addition of 15%. The maximum is
getting an extra of 45% from 3 positive flips. If you flipped negative, any
extra critical hit % is brought back to 0%.

When flipping, monster can attack you.

To use this skill at full potential, you should flip the coin in a safe area
as early as possible. Say, for scenario 1-4, you can flip it at your starting
location. In scenario 1, you can do this at the Storage Room on the Rooftop
level.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 -------------
| ITEM DETECT |
 -------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The moment Jim enters a room, he can detect any items that the room has. But,
there are some things to note:
- Items from dead members are not detected
- SP Items are not detectable
- You can't know what the items that the room has to offer until you take it.
The only use for this skill is to know how many items and their location.

To contact the author of this FAQ, please send email to this address:
[email protected]

Note that flaming mails, virus mails, blank mails, information covered in
the FAQ will be ignored. Suggestions, tips and information are welcome, and
will be credited when due.

However, before you press the 'Send' button, please make sure that you have
done the following:

1)Search through the FAQ thoroughly and make sure that I have not answered
your question yet. I don't like to repeat myself when you can find the answer
in the FAQ.

2)Please only send email in English, Japanese or Chinese. These are the only
languages that I understand. I doubt so, but if you are having difficulty in
English, please at least use a babelfish or any other online translator.

3)Though I believe most of my audiences are of good readers, I've noticed some
exceptions, who were probably jealous of my FAQ. Please, idiots. Just because
you can't write a better FAQ doesn't give you a reason to send hate mails.

4)Please write the word "Resident Evil Outbreak FAQ" or anything similar on
your email, so I won't delete them without reading them. I've been getting
virus mails. If you don't want your mail to be mistaken as one, then write the
heading of your mail.

5)Speaking of virus mails, please, use a virus scanner to scan through your
computer/laptop.
