This is a guide to help you get S Ranks in offline mode and tell you what you get for that S Rank. Nothing to explain on that. I didn't see any guides out on this (here at gamefaqs or on PSO-world). If you want to put up the guide on a site, just send me an email (listed in the contact info section) of where you want to put it. I put a lot of time into this, so I want credit for it :). Thanks. 12-29-06 (first posted) 1-6-07 Update 1: Made a few corrections and added/changed format of boss data at the request of players. 9-7-07 Update 2: Fixed some spelling errors. Basic tips Ok, first off, look at my weapon suggestion for the type(s) of weapons you should bring. This helps a lot when you get bonus damage. When you have a cutscene (you know, like a boss flying around), press start (ps2 version) to skip. This is very important as you will save that precious time you would have lost. Bring several photon charges. Yes, you will be using photon arts a lot. They deal more damage than normal attacks and you want the time you can get your hands on. Skip breaking open boxes. They take away time. If you want the boxes, make runs after you have gotten your S Rank. If you need to break open a box to trigger a set of enemies, I will do my best to let you know on that. When you remove seed cores in some of the missions, dont bother to break open the roots. Just destroy the core and move on. Finally, I know this clear to all, but you need to memorize where you are going to be going. Hey, even if I have a step-by-step guide of each turn and enemy killed, you DON'T have time to be reading this and playing at the same time. Don't worry if you don't make it the first time. Do you think I did? (ok, ok, maybe a few, but that was rare). Oh, and if you think you can skip some of the enemies and just beat it even faster or vice versa, you can't. S Ranks require you to not only beat a time, but to kill everything as well. Good luck! 2. Guardians Colony a. Linear Line Platform --Evacuation (minimum level: n/a) Time to beat: 8:00 minutes Recommend weapon: light Enemies to kill: 72 This is a basic and a really easy mission. At the T junction, go right and clear the enemies out, the go back along the left path. If you run into a room and you don't have enemies show up, you will have to break open the boxes. Surprisingly, this a rare thing it later missions. Reward: Linear Line --Annilation (minimum level: 30) Time to beat: 9:00 minutes Recommend weapon: light Enemies to kill: n/a Just move through the rooms killing as quick as you can. You should note that there is 2 rooms that you have to break the boxes to make the enemies appear. Boss: Seed-Vance (x 3) Boss element: dark Two of these will appear after you kill the first one. They have a spinning attack and can lower your attack power. A weapon photon art that knocks them down is a great choice (saber, twin saber, twin dagger (the 3 combo)). Suggestion by The SocialBunny: Cast shifta for an attack power increase and use attacks like NosDiga and Rising Strike for knocking down. Reward: Walking Pannon b. Space Dock --HIVE (minimum level: 60) Time to beat: 14:00 minutes Recommend weapon: light Enemies to kill: 67 Remember that the weapon element choice is key here! Boss: Dulk Falkis Boss element: dark Form 1: The first form is pretty simple. The body is the attack point of choice. If you see a transparent shield go up, know that the body cant be damaged and you will have to attack the arms. He will raise his arm up, and then about 2 seconds later, smash it down and release a damaging energy wave. Step down the slop a short ways to avoid the damage and then rush in to attack the arm. He will sometimes emit purple energy balls that will push you back. Hunters, get used to it and rush back once they fade. Rangers and forces, try to keep hitting him. Finally, rarely he will release 3 large yellow energy balls with a space in place of a fourth one. Run past them in that space to keep attacking. As for weapon choice, the twin daggers, twin sabers, or double saber photon arts (listed in my preference order of greatest first) are good. If at all possible, make sure your weapons are of the light element. Form 2: Sometimes he will poison you, but mostly it is melee attacks. If the screen shifts to showing you and the boss a long ways away, make sure you are healed to full because a huge meteorite will crash down dealing a TON of damage. Several small pieces will also fall, so, the damage will be giving out in pieces. Keeping healing yourself with mates of some level. The end of the tail and the tail is the only thing you can attack for the first part (I recommend the double saber photon art due to the launching attack. Again, the twin dagger one works well too). When you see the head part of the tail appear at the edge of the platform, turn around to the see the main body. Unleash your most powerful attacks on the body. Keep it up until it falls. Congratulations! (I want to make a comment that getting the sword is hard and it is quite easy to beat the boss using the weapons I recommended. I personally dont recommend a sword unless you have a high photon art level or the Svaltus sword with light element. If you have both, go for it :). ) Suggestions by The SocialBunny: Recommend weapon of choice for Hunters is a 60% light Svaltus Sword; recommended weapon for Rangers is a level 21+ Shotgun bullet with light elemental; recommended tech for Forces is level 21+ NosDiga or DamBarta (Rafoie or GiDiga otherwise) as ReGrant suck beyond most reasonable doubt for boss battles. Reward: HIVE 3. Parum a. Linear Line Platform --Cargo Train Rescue (minimum level: 15) Time to beat: 6:30 minutes Recommend weapon: ice Enemies to kill: 32 In front cars, just kill and move on as fast as possible. In middle cars, kill until you get a key. Once you get the key, run back to the closest locked door and kill the 3 guys inside there. Skip all the boxes, and run back to where you started the mission in front cars. There should appear one enemy. Kill it and skip the key as you rush to the final area, rear cars. Reward: Military PPT Shuttle, Hegel buster --Endrum Underground (minimum level: 35) Time to beat: 12:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ground! Enemies to kill: 66 In block 1, be sure to take both paths by the first laser gate (one north, one west). In block 2, in the first room, there is a warp(s) that will take you to a couple rooms to kill some enemies. Also, a little later on, you need to flip two switches (one in each room) to make more enemies appear. This is right before you see a warp behind a laser gate (skip the warp). Boss: Grinna Bete S (x 3) Boss element: lightning Attacks vary from sword charges and spins(from the sword one) to machine guns and energy blasts from the gun ones. Kill the sword Grinna Bete S first, then finish off the other two with ease. I tend to use twin daggers and the double saber photon arts for close range fights. You want to be careful that you dont get surrounded, and yet, if you are using the twin dagger photon art, a lot of damaged can be dished out against all three at once. Keep in mind though, the key to S ranking this fight is taking out that sword bete (think. Why is there only one sword bete and two gun ones?). Reward: Grinna Bete S, Rafal Buster --Two-Headed Sentinel (minimum level: 55) Time to beat: 12:00 minutes Recommend weapon: green and dark Enemies to kill: 66 This only real thing is to just move as quick as possible Reward: Baying De Ragnus or Glaring De Ragnus b. Flyer Base --Creature Discomfort (minimum level: n/a) Time to beat: 1:50 minutes Recommend weapon: green and dark Enemies to kill: 25 When you enter the first door, go right and kill the two flying enemies. Then head back and kill as fast as possible. Reward: PPT Shuttle --The Burning Plains (minimum level: 5) Time to beat: 9:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ice Enemies to kill: 43 Seed cores: 5 At the 4th seed core, remember to look behind the grass for the other root thingys. For the 5th core, two roots are near the core and two are up on the upper ground near there. As with all missions like this, kill enemies before taking out the seed cores. Reward: Beetle --The Mad Beasts (minimum level: 10) Time to beat: 8:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ice Enemies to kill: 69 At the start of the mission, turn left and go into the cave to find the "hidden" enemies. Then continue on. Boss: Gol Dova Boss element: fire This boss is fairly easy. Just avoid the front and attack from the back or sides. The two main attacks are a shockwave of short range (it will rear back on its hind legs, so step back when you see that) and it will also make a running charge at you. This is easily avoided if you just attack as recommended. Reward: Koltova Transport --Ruler of the Plains (minimum level: 15) Time to beat: 7:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ice and green Enemies to kill: 25 In block 1, go left and the first junction and then continue on right. Boss: De Ragan Boss element: fire Go behind the boss and attack from behind. The tail and back of the legs are good targets and a pretty good position for you. A twin dagger, double saber, or twin saber photon art is recommended with all the weak points. The two main attacks are it will turn around (which the feet will damage you) and then it will blow fire at times. You will receive damage when it turns if you attack from the sides. If it is not killed quickly, it will fly up and shoot fireballs down at you before coming down which will cost you a lot of time. Rangers can take advantage of the weak spot on the neck near the head. Reward: De Ragan --What is in the Ruins (minimum level: 10) Time to beat: 10:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ice and dark Enemies to kill: 82 In block 1, go forward at the first junction and then continue on (can't miss enemies right ;) ). In block 2, at the first junction, head right first and then left. Boss: Svaltus (x 3) Boss element: light The fight starts with one Svaltus and then once that one is finished, two more will appear. The best time to attack it is after it just finished an attack or when it has a shield up. Hunters, you will take damage trying to kill this quickly. The most common attack is when it will pull its sword back and up a tad and then spin attack (like in the Zelda games). This should be avoided even if you are in a photon art combo. I have found this can on very rare occasions paralyze you for a brief time. If you back out, the svaltus will get in position (like knights would when jousting) and launch forward. Simply start moving sideways and you will avoid that. Finally, it can shoot fireballs which are the easiest of the attacks to avoid. Reward: Svaltus Edge and Bruces Cargo 4. Neudaiz a. Flyer Base --Mizuraki Devastation (minimum level: 15) Time to beat: 9:30 minutes Recommend weapon: ice and fire Enemies to kill: 82 There is a spot you have to break the boxes to make the enemies appear. Boss: Tengogh (x 3) Boss element: fire These are hardly a boss, but here are the attacks. They will spit fire and sometimes get in the air and then use an airborne ramming attack. Hit them when they get into the air to make them fall and then lay into them. Short range weapons make a bad choice for hitting them in the air and I personally dont recommend a sword. Double sabers, twin sabers, and possibly a saber make the close range weapons of choice. Reward: Stag Beetle --Frozen Woods (minimum level: 20) Time to beat: 13:00 minutes Recommend weapon: fire Enemies to kill: 58 Seed cores: 5 Block 2: Don't miss the warp hidden near the 5th core!! Reward: Maiden's Ship --The Demons Above (minimum level: 20) Time to beat: 11:00 minutes Recommend weapon: fire Enemies to kill: 57 Block 1: After the first warp, kill the group in front of you and then turn around. Take the left warp and break the boxes to make some nice hidden enemies appear (pesky things >_<, took me a while to figure out how to get those) Block 2: At the laser fence, go grab the key and then continue past the gate ( don't use the key yet). Enter the cave and break both sets of boxes. Now head back and kill as you finish the mission. Boss: Onmagogh Boss element: fire Just rush him as fast as possible with a powerful photon art like the dagger ones or the double saber one. He will get up after a very short time and fly around while throwing things at you. Keep close to him and hit him when he lands again. As long as damage is dished out quickly, there shouldnt be any problems for a S rank time. Suggestion by The SocialBunny: Use a long ranged weapon like a rifle or bow regardless of class to snipe the wings at the beginning of the battle. Try to kill him before he gets up or snipe the wings again if he manages to recover them. Reward: Onmagoug --Defend Island (minimum level: 20) Time to beat: 12:00 minutes Recommend weapon: fire Enemies to kill: 79 Move fast! Reward: Tornados Throw --Woodland Flames (minimum level: 45) Time to beat: 15:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ice Enemies to kill: 57 The main trick to this is to kill fast enough, which is not easy, even when you level is several levels above the required. This is what I recommend. Buy a Assino-Zashi [Board] from the synth shop and use Ray-photons (ice). This makes a really good weapon for this mission. If you need a weapon with an element, this is a nice choice. Reward: BR Burning Poster ( sweet :D) --Grove of Fanatics (minimum level: 35) Time to beat: 10:00 minutes Recommend weapon: electric Enemies to kill: 57 Block 2: At the junction, go right and then left while skipping the middle. Boss: Adahna Degahna Boss element: light The most annoying part of this fight is the fact that the boss will warp around a lot. Rush with twin daggers or double saber photon arts if you are a hunter (other classes should still rush him). He will shoot stuff sometimes, but that can easily be dodged by sidestepping. Hit the front and as soon as he stops, run around to the back of him and start hitting him in safety. He will turn to try to find you so keep pressing forward and attacking. For this reason, I highly recommend starting with your weapon/techs of choice and putting photon charges on your quick menu bar right next to the weapon. When you run out of PP, use the photon charge. I have found that switching weapons can make you loose your place behind him. That could just be me though, haha. Also avoid the glowing pads on the floor (but dont worry about it, concentrate on the boss). Reward: COG Cargo Shuttle, Blitz Buster --Temple of Ice (minimum level: 40) Time to beat: 10:00 minutes Recommend weapon: fire-duh ;) Enemies to kill: 100 Block 1: In the room with a warp, start with the left. Block 2: At the first junction, go right first and then the middle. Towards the end of the block (right after a laser gate), you will have a set of 3 chests on the left, head towards them to make 3 enemies appear. Reward: COG Limo Shuttle 5. Moatoob a. Flyer Base --The Pandemonium (minimum level: 20) Time to beat: 12:00 minutes Recommend weapon: fire and ice Enemies to kill: 84 At the "T" junction, be sure to go right first and then left. Skip the card 5 and finish the mission. It only gives you boxes. Reward: Lapucha Figure --Tunnel Infestation (minimum level: 35) Time to beat: 8:30 minutes Recommend weapon: ice and green Enemies to kill: 76 In the ice cave with the warp on the right, hold off on taking the warp until you have cleared the way to the point you get the key for the laser gate. Then head back and take the warp. The order here is crucial!! I highly recommend a double saber's photon art for the flying enemies here. =) Reward: Zoona --Goliath in Desert (minimum level: 40) Time to beat: 14:00 minutes Recommend weapon: ice and green Enemies to kill: 46 IN the area right before the big cave, there is an area on the left that you can go down and find the pesky hidden enemies. Boss: Magas Magahna Boss element: lightning I highly recommend a double saber's photon art or the dagger photon art for close range attackers. Hit the lower section of the body until it breaks. I should warn you that two blades will be in the remains, so if you touch them, there is a chance of being damaged. Be careful when attacking him when you see a short of transparent shield go up. He will be immune to all damage, so stop your attacks until that lowers. There is an arm slam attack, a sword charge (start running to the other side he will be going to), and a couple of gun attacks. He can warp as well, so dont lose your barings. The trick is to hit him once the lower body has been destroyed. I like a quick and longer length weapon like the double saber or saber photon arts/normal attacks for the arms. If you have the option, The SocialBunnys suggestion of using a rifle or crossbow and aiming for upper body or arms is good. If you are a hunter left between the choice of a handgun or the double saber or saber, I would recommend the close range weapons from my personal experience with this. Reward: Sturm Buster, Grom Buster, Endrum PPT Shuttle --Absolute Zero (minimum level: 60) Time to beat: 12:00 minutes Recommend weapon: FIRE! Enemies to kill: n/a (150, but only time is calculated in the score) Bring at least 8 photon changes and bring a good fire weapon. This is what I recommend. Buy an Assino-Zashi [Board] from the synth shop and use fire type photons found at the synth shop. This makes a really good weapon for this mission. If you need a weapon with an element, this is a nice choice. Reward: Svaltus Sword [Board] (YAY! =) ), Vanda --Terror in the desert (minimum level: 60) Time to beat: 12:00 minutes Recommend weapon: fire and electric Enemies to kill: 75 Block 2: go right at the start, then go back to the middle and continue. Right before door 4, go left and kill until you get the card 2 and then go back to the laser gate you missed. Kill that group behind the laser and don't go get teh boxes, hurry to gate 4. Boss: Dimmagolus Boss elemental: ground Use what you learned from The Demons Above boss strategies. Bring an electric weapon. Reward: Landeel A or Landeel B 6. Contact stuff Ok, [email protected]. If I missed something or you have some info I dont, etc send me an email ok. 7. Thanks to people Thanks to Strippin Heat here at gamefaqs who pointed out to me that you get the Hagel Buster from the Cargo Train Rescue mission. Thanks dude. I missed putting that one in my notes. Thanks to The SocialBunny for pointing out some errors in the rewards (thats what I get for using a template over and over, lol) and also asking for boss strategies. Double thanks for the extra tips for boss strategy add- ons listed in the faq. 8. This guide is not to be distributed without the consent of psofttmaster here at gamefaqs.
