	Section:	1
	Name: Introduction
	Last Updated:	8/11/04

===========================================

Welcome to my Madden 2005 guide. I've been writing guides for a little over
five years now and it has come to my attention that there has never been a
really good guide for a Madden game. I'm going to change that this year, by
making the most comprehensive strategy guide that has ever been made for a
football game. Being a veteran of the Madden series (played it since the 3DO
days) I know basically all the ends and outs of the game. In Madden 2004, I
was unstoppable with the Minnesota Vikings rarely losing a game in tournaments
that I hosted. This year, with a lot of writing and a bit of luck, I can make
everyone that reads this guide a bit better. Though many wonder how a "sports
strategy guide" can help, I feel that my guide can improve your game
drastically. Whether you are just starting out as a Madden newbie, or you've
been playing this game since the Sega Genesis days, I believe that everyone can
improve somehow with every addition to the series.

Before you sit down with your cup of coffee and your sticks on your lap
waiting to be played, please take a few minutes to consider this. It takes me
hours upon hours to create a strategy guide to this magnitude. With all the
studying of the game, to the researching, to the re-iteration of my knowledge,
I could honestly be doing something more beneficial with my life. So this is
my plea to all of you. I'm trying to get into the video game writing industry
for my second time (I worked as a freelance writer for about 2 years when I was
16). I'm majoring in journalism at school, and I'm looking for a job. I'm 20
years old, and I'm willing to work. So please hire me :)...If that is out of
your hands, at least give my website a look where I'm trying to make my way
into being a Sports Columnist. (www.sundaysportsreport.com)

Writing these strategy guides are always a ton of fun for me, but answering
your e-mails are even better. I try to answer all e-mails within 8 hours of
being sent, and usually will respond to your questions over AIM if I'm not
drastically busy. My screen name on AIM is: FanBaseballDrew and my e-mail
address is [email protected]. I would love getting an e-mail from anyone
who reads my guide. Don't feel uncomfortable about praising or criticizing
this guide, I take all comments with a grain of salt. And if you are
interested in sports in general (especially fantasy sports) make sure that you
give my website a look. The Sunday SportS Report is trying to become the #1
website, created, maintaned, and owned by regular sports fans so give it a
look: http://www.sundaysportsreport.com

I'm sure most of you haven't made it this far down on the introduction, but if
you did, thank you for reading what I have to say. Remember to e-mail me with
any questions that you have, and make sure that you enjoy the guide. Thank you
for taking a look on my insights to Madden, and if you need any help, drop me
an e-mail. Enjoy Madden fans, this game is truely the best football game ever
created.

	Section:	2
	Name: Update History
	Last Updated:	8/11/04

===========================================

This section of the guide should be read by everyone that is interested in
seeing how this guide is progressing. Here I tell exactly what has been
updated in every version of the guide. Though it may be insignificant to a one
time viewer, I hope that everyone will come back to this guide with any
questions or problems that pop up while playing the game.

-------------------------------
August 8th, 2004 (Version 0.1)
-------------------------------
The first version of the guide is officially up on two sites. SSR
(www.sundaysportsreport.com) and GameFAQs (www.gamefaqs.com). Both of these
sites will be hosting the most current version of the guide, so make sure that
you bookmark at least one of them. I would prefer SSR, due to it being my own
personal site. In my opinion, this guide is still pretty weak, due to my lack
of time to write it. I got Madden on Monday night, played it throughout the
night, woke up and went to work, and stayed up the following night writing
until basically daylight. This is the progressed I have made since then, so in
a very short time, there will be a lot more information. My goal of this guide
is to break down Madden in every possible aspect that I can possibly explain
making this guide a lot better than that Prima Guide that all the videogame
stores are trying to package with the game. And with a little help, (please
send in any information that you want to be posted in this gudie) I think that
I can have a excellent version of the guide up in a week or so. Until then,
look for DAILY updates to this guide, and please send in any suggestions you
have to my e-mail address at: [email protected]. Thank you for your time.

	3A. Madden Classic Controls

	3C. Madden Retro Controls

The Madden Retro controls have the most similiar controls to Madden 2005. It's
still very nice to see all the new additions that has happened since the
Playstation 2 has come out. Can you believe those graphics were only five

of the game.

	Name: Franchise Walkthrough
	Last Updated:	8/11/04

===========================================

Franchise mode is the biggest, deepest mode in Madden 2005. I am going to
personally walk you thru all the major points in Franchise mode. Bear with me
during this process though, because I have to complete my franchise while I go
along with typing this.

Have not started franchise mode yet, give me a day or two before I start.

	Section:	8
	Name: Mini-Camp Walkthrough
	Last Updated:	8/11/04

===========================================

Tour NFL cities in the Madden Cruiser and fine-tune your playing skills in
Mini-Camp mode. Unlock game situations by setting high scores while earning
trophies and Madden Cards along the way.

In this section of the guide I'm going to walk you thru the whole Mini-Camp
mode. Once you click on Mini-Camp from the list, you'll be prompted with this:

------------------------------------------------------------------

			Welcome To Mini-Camp

-Fine tunes your football skills by competing in various drills.

-Unlock Madden Cards and Game Situations by earning trophies.

-Lead a 2 minute scoring drive, make a goal line stand, and more in unlocked
Game Situations.

-Have Fun and Good Luck!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you click "Ok" you'll be prompted with all the Rookie Challenges.

------------------------------------------------------------------
			Rookie Challenges/Game Situations
------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: QB - Pocket Presence (Rookie)

Team: Atlanta Falcons

Location: Atlanta, GA

Personal Best: 1650

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Stay in the Pocket and find the open Receivers
-Hit the primary Receiver while he's open
-To throw the ball press Square, X, Circle, L1, R1
-Earn more points by completing passes in a row
			-To pump fake press R2

Trophies: Bronze - 900 Points
			Silver - 1200 Points
			Gold - 1400 Points

Rewards: Card #208 - Pocket Protectors

Personal Strategy:	This challenge is very easy and you should have
no problem getting gold on your first or second
try. With only three targets to throw at, and
only one ball coming at you from the five targets,
you should be able to avoid getting sacked at all.
Vick has a fast release, and he's easy to control
in the pocket area, so you should have no problem
running out of the pocket. Remember, if you
complete 3 or more passes in a row, you'll get
100 points for each pass completed after that.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: QB - Pocket Presence (Rookie)

Description: -Your Falcons are trailing the Panthers 21-20 with
			2:00 left in the game.
-Lead an aerial assault with your Falcons and
conserve time by using your 3 timeouts
-Score the game-winng field goal or touchdown before
			time expires.

Rewards: #263 - ATL - Cheerleader

Personal Strategy:	This situation is very easy because you are playing
on rookie. Though you don't have any running plays,
you can easily scramble with Vick to pick up first
downs. I don't really have anything special to say
about this challenge because I completed it in 20
seconds. Do what works for you and if you have
trouble, then you shouldn't be playing Madden 2005.

------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: LB - Chase and Tackle (Rookie)

Team: Baltimore Ravens

Location: Baltimore, MD

Personal Best: 2,780

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Tackle The HB as quickly as possible
-To attempt a diving tackle press Square
			-To sprint hold down Circle
-To strip the ball press R2

Trophies: Bronze - 800 points
			Silver - 1475 points
			Gold - 2000 points

Rewards: Card #194 - 3rd Down

Personal Strategy:	This challenge is extremely easy. If you use the
big hit stick, you'll be able to make the Lewis
fumble at least once which will give you even a
bigger bonus. With no blockers, you should be able
to hit Lewis behind the line of scimmage each time.
This challenge is very simple, and you should turn
off the game and stop playing if you can't get gold
			on your second try.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: LB - Chase and Tackle (Rookie)

Description: -Your Ravens are trailing the Browns 24-20 with
			2:00 remaining in the game.
-Stop the Browns from getting a 1st down and use your
-3 timeouts to stop the clock.
-Force the Browns to punt the ball with at least
			1:30 left in the game.

Rewards: #274 - BAL - Cheerleader

Personal Strategy:	Well, you know that the Browns are going to run the
ball all three downs so just use field goal block
on them. The running back will not be able to get
out of the backfield on any of the downs. Then
just pick punt return and make sure that you don't
fumble the ball. Then get your Madden card and move
			on.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: DB - Swat Ball (Rookie)

Team: Buffalo Bills

Location: Orchard Park, NY

Personal Best: 1060

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Swat passes down with L1
-Use the strafe R1 to face the line of scrimmage
-Go for interceptions using Triangle for higher
 			scores
-Earn more points by stopping consecutive passes
Trophies: Bronze - 300 points
			Silver - 600 points
			Gold - 900 points

Rewards: Card #199 - Lame Duck

Personal Strategy:	The DB is very good at intercepting the ball
and should have no problem doing so if you get him
in the right position before the ball is thrown.
I usually stay to the side of the two closer targets
and then run in front of the target while the ball
is in the air, catching the ball in stide. I don't
bother using the swat button or using R1 to face
the line of scrimmage. Instead of doing that, I
think it is easier to time the ball from a run facing
the ball with your back turned or to the side. Go
for the interception each time, and once you get a
couple in a row, you'll get 80 points for each
following one. This is not a hard challenge to
complete at all, but it may take 1-3 tries to get
			gold.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: DB - Swat Ball (Rookie)

Description: -Your Bills are leading the Jets 20-14 late in the
			4th quarter.
-The Jets have the ball at their own 20 with 2:00
			left and 1 timeout remaining.
-Prevent them from scoring a touchdown by
			controlling only your defensive backs.

Rewards: #263 - BUF - Cheerleader

Personal Strategy:	It's obvious that the Jets are only going to throw
the ball. Use nickel defense, Velcro 9 and wait
until Pennington throws an interception. Even if
you don't get an interception, there is a very
small chance that they are going to be able to get
into the red zone. This is a very easy challenge,
especially when you use Velcro 9.

Challenge Name: DL - Trench Fight (Rookie)

Team: Philadelphia Eagles

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Personal Best: 6.99 seconds

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Capture the flags as quickly as possible
-Spin or rip left with L1
-Spin or rip right with R1
			-To Shove press Circle

Trophies: Bronze - 9.00 seconds
			Silver - 8.00 seconds
			Gold - 7.00 seconds

Rewards: Card #209 - Penetration

Personal Strategy:	With only three guys to truck and 7.00 seconds to
get gold, this challenge shouldn't take you more
than 2 minutes to complete. Juke right and push
the first guy, go straight after the second guy and
push him, and try to push the third guy down the same
way you pushed the second guy down. The second guy
is the easiest to push down, but it is almost
necessary to push the third guy down to get the third
flag in Gold time. If you get past the first guy
within 1.75 seconds, you are on good pace to get the
			gold.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: DL - Trench Fight (Rookie)

Description: -Your Eagles are leading the Giants 20-14 late in
			the 4th quarter.
-The Giants have the ball at their own 20 with 2:00
			left in the game.
-Prevent them from scoring a touchdown by controlling
			only your defensive linemen.

Rewards: #262 - PHI - Cheerleader

Personal Strategy:	This game situation is a breeze. I just used
Nickel Defense, Cover 3 and it took care of business.
I just rushed the Kearse by controlling him and had
no problem stopping the Giants. There really isn't
much more I can say about this very easy game
			situation.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: K - Clutch Kicking (Rookie)

Team: Detroit Lions

Location: Detroit, MI

Personal Best: 2400 Points

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Hit the target to earn points
-To start and stop the power meter press X
-To stop the accuracy meter press X
-Pay attention to the wind direction and strength

Trophies: Bronze - 900 points
			Silver - 1500 points
			Gold - 2200 points

Rewards: Card #197 - Da Boot

Personal Strategy:	I never liked kicking on rookie because I'm use to
kicking on All Madden. I think this is the hardest
rookie challenge because you can only miss the bulls
eye (Red) twice and still come away with the gold.
If wind is a factor, reset it until you get 0 mph
wind. The values are as follow: Yellow = 75 points,
			Orange = 150 points, Red = 300 points.  Basically,
if you get a yellow, you should just restart. This
is no benefit to kicking the ball with less power,
because it takes the ball more time to get to target.
This challenge may take 5 minutes or so to get gold
on, because the new kicking meter is a bit slower
so it's hard to get your timing back. Don't worry
about watching your power, your accuracy is what
			matters in this drill.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: K - Clutch Kicking (Rookie)

Description: -Your Lions are trailing the Packers 14-13 with :10
			left in the game.
-You have the ball at the Packers' 25 on 3rd down
and 24 with 1 timeout remaining.
-Score the game-winning field goal or touchdown
			before time expires.

Rewards: #268 - DET - Pump Up Crowd

Personal Strategy:	Use HB Slam under I-Form and try to gallop as many
yards as possible. Call a timeout right after you
get tackled and kick the field goal. The field goal
should be a chip shot so you shouldn't have any
stress even though your controller will be rumbling.

------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: P - Coffin Corner Punt (Rookie)

Team: Cleveland Browns

Location: Clevenland, Ohio

Personal Best: 1000 points

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Aim for the targets on the field
-Hit the bull's-eye for higher points
			-Red = 200, Orange = 100, Yellow = 50 pts.
-To start and stop the power meter press X
-To stop the accuracy meter press X

Trophies: Bronze - 250 points
			Silver - 650 points
			Gold - 900 points

Rewards: #211 - Coffin Corner

Personal Strategy:	This is a very easy challenge that should take no
more than 5 turns to get gold. I aim the kicking
meter halfway from being straight up, and kick the
ball with anywhere from 70-78 power. I then aim
directly at the red bulls eye, and if you get
the kicking accuracy anywhere in the 90 percent zone,
you should hit the bullseye each time. The only
hard part about this whole challenge is that if you
kick the ball over 80 percent power, your ball will
drop in the endzone. Once you find the right height,
			it should be a breeze.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: P - Coffin Corner Punt (Rookie)

Description: -Your Browns are leading the Bengals 10-6 on 4th
down with 1:00 left in the game.
-Nail the Bengals deep in their own territory to
			prevent a comeback.
-Punt so the Bengals' starting line of scrimmage
is within 15 yards of their endzone.

Rewards: #254 - CLE - Pump Up Crowd

Personal Strategy:	This is very easy because you are already on the 40
yard line so you only need a 25 yard punt out of
bounds. Put the kicking meter all the way up and
aim the ball out of bounds. The ball should easily
have enough strength if you kicked the ball with 90
			or more power.

------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: QB - Precision Passing (Rookie)

Team: New York Giants

Location: East Rutherford, NJ

Personal Best: 1080 points

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Pass the ball through the rings
-Rings are placed based on difficulty of route
			-Gold = 75, Silver = 50, Bronze = 25 pts.
-To snap the ball press X
-To throw the ball press X, Square, Circle, L1, R1
-Hold button for a bullet pass or tap it for touch

Trophies: Bronze - 500 points
			Silver - 750 points
			Gold - 1000 points

Rewards: #210 - QB On Target

Personal Strategy:	On Play #1, move a little to the right and hit the
silver pattern right when the Shockey plants his
foot to turn right. Do the same on the gold pattern,
moving a bit more to the right. On the bronze
pattern, there's a lot of room for mistake. I move
Warner a bit to the right, and throw a bullet right
when Toomer is approaching the target. 310

On Play #2, right step straight back and hit Shockey
right after he takes one step in thru the bronze
target. Make sure to throw a bullet pass. For
Hilliard, step an inch to the right and throw a
bullet right after he takes two steps out. This is
for the silver target. For Toomer, step back and
wait until he crosses the 35 yard line. Then
throw a floater and it will cross right thru the
			gold ring.

On Play #3, step right in front of the bronze target
and let Shockey go right behind it. Then throw a
bullet. For the silver target, let Toomer take
two steps in and then throw a bullet. It should hit
him right in stide thru the silver target. For the
gold, let Hilliard run right underneath the gold
target and then throw a bullet. I moved Warner a
tad bit to the left when I threw the pass.

Overall, this challenge is a bit hard to get gold
until you get down my tips. Then you should be able
to complete it perfectly without missing a target
or dropping a catch. Don't worry if this takes you
10 minutes to get gold, it's one of the harder
			Rookie challenges.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: QB - Precision Passing (Rookie)

Description: -Your Giants are trailing the Rams 14-12 with 2:00
			left in the game.
-Lead an aerial assault with your Giants and conserve
time by using your 3 timeouts.
-Score the game-winning field goal or touchdown
			before time expires.

Rewards: #265 - NYG - Pump Up Crowd

Personal Strategy:	You start off on your own 45 and you have plenty
of time to get a scoring drive going. Don't worry
about the time at all, you could basically go down
the field and save all your timeouts without any
problems. The easiest way to score is to test the
corner that is guarding Amani Toomer. You can beat
this guy so easy that it's pathetic. Once you get
into field goal range, kick the field goal. There's
no extra reward in scoring a touchdown, so it's
			pointless.

------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge Name: RB - Ground Attack (Rookie)

Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Location: Kansas City, MO

Personal Best: 2520 Points

Game Situation: Locked (Once You Win, It'll Be Unlocked)

Skill: Rookie

Description: -Score as many TDs as you can
			-Hold down X to sprint
			-To spin press Circle
-To stiff arm press L2 or R2

Trophies: Bronze - 800 points
			Silver - 1400 points
			Gold - 2100 points

Rewards: #195 - Human Plow

Personal Strategy:	This is by far the easiest challenge in all of the
Rookie Challenges. With only two guys to tackle you
and Richardson blocking, you can basically just
run around and let Richardson block both guys for
you. I personally like to score on each possession,
so I run behind the blocking pads to juke out the
defenders. This is not necessary in the rookie mode
though because all you really need to do is run
straight behind Richardson. It's ok if you get
tackled once or twice because it's still very easy
			to get gold.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Situation: RB - Ground Attack (Rookie)

Description: -Your Chiefs are leading the Raiders 21-20 with 1:50
			remaining in the game.
-Run the ball to eat up the clock and prevent the
Raiders from getting the ball back.
-Seal the victory by running down the clock or
			scoring a touchdown.

Rewards: #258 - KC - Cheerleader

Personal Strategy:	Just run the ball up the gut until you get a first
down. Then milk the play clock as long as you can
to get the victory. Don't forget about Tony
Richardson as your fullback. A fullback counter
is always good for at least 4 yards. You start out
with a 1st and 5 so there should be no sweat to get
the first down. Try to get the first down on third
down, so that the Raiders have already wasted their
timeouts. It's a lot easier to win that way.

Madden Moment: #20
Game: The Drive - 86 Broncos at 86 Browns
Description: It is known simply as "The Drive". The almost
perfect 98-yard drive by the Broncos in the closing
minutes of the 1986 AFC Championship Game. Trailing
20-13, take the Broncos from their own 2 yard line

				Prove Your Madden IQ!

-Earn your spot in the high score list by answering the questions as quickly
as possible.

-The faster you answer, the more points you will receive.

-Select your answer by pressing Square, Triangle, Circle, or X.

This is the section of my guide which will seperate any other Madden guide from
this one. I'm going to play with every team in multiple game situations and
find the pros/cons about each team. The teams that I use a lot will be a bit
deeper than the ones I don't, but look for every team to have its own section
very soon. Until then, please look around on the other parts of my guide.

Many people wonder what other guides I have made around the web. Well, all of
them can be found at GameFAQS (www.gamefaqs.com). Also, people wonder if I
make money off of these guides. I do it as a hobby, as I am majoring in
journalism and hope to do something similiar to this for a job. Any job
opportunities make me happy :). Anyway, onto the list. Though the list is
short, don't expect it to be that way in the near future.
