-A. INTRODUCTION TO THE GUIDE -
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey, this is Gothic89 here, writing this FAQ cause this is one of my favorite
games. I know this game is old, but this game is based on one of the best
Anime series ever. Not to mention a great combat system, that still makes me
play this game whenever I have nothing else to do. I hope you get as much out
of this game as I did. Hope this FAQ helps you with any questions or problems
you may have with this game.

If you have any questions or comments, or just simply wanna say hey, email me
at [email protected]

I will update this FAQ soon. Thank you, and enjoy!

-B. CONTROLS -
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inuyasha: Feudal Combat uses an advanced combat engine. The Following will
teach you the basics and some things you need to know.

               ------------------------------------
               -2. Basic Controls -
               ------------------------------------
Here's a list of basic controls:

MOVE CHARACTER - Left Analog Stick
WEAK ATTACK - Square Button
STRONG ATTACK - X
JUMP - Triangle
GUARD - R2
CHANGE TARGET - L2
CHANGE FORMATIONS L1 or R1
BREAK GUARD - R2 + Square
SPECIAL ATTACK - Circle
PARTNER COMBO ATTACK - X + Square

              -------------------------------------
              -3. Co-op Attacks and Special Moves -
              -------------------------------------
When you use a Special Attack and certain other moves it uses up a bar
Spirit Power. Co-op Attacks, which probably should've been called combos,
may or may not work depending on the character your partnered with, or if
you are fighting alone. Characters with High Affinity will cause Double
Damage and characters with Low Affinity will not. Here's a list:

HIGH AFFINTY:
Inuyaha + Kagome
Inuyasha + Kikyo
Miroku + Sango
Sango + Kohaku

LOW AFFINITY:
Naraku + Kagome
Inuyasha + Koga
Sesshomaru + Kagome
Naraku + Sango
Naraku + Miroku
Naraku + Sesshomaru
Naraku + Kagura
InuYasha + Sesshomaru
InuYasha + Naraku

Starting to get the idea? If not, it should become clear after awhile.

Anyways, here's a list of each characters' Co-op Attacks and Special
Moves.

*NOTE:* Special moves are moves that can be done without a partner,
and unlike the Co-op Attacks, these moves have an actual name:

                     ---------------------------------------
                     -4. Formations -
                     ---------------------------------------

There are 4 Formations for your partners during battle. They each
have Strenths and Weaknesses. They can make a Team powerful, or send
them down a road of mediocrity.

Here is the list of each formations strengths and weaknesses.

FUU - This formation will have your partner follow up and attack after
your character attacks. This Will create a combo if used correctly
against your opponent.

RIN - This Formation lets you focus your attacks on your enemy and
your partner attack your opponents partner from a distance.

KA - Let's you gang up on the enemy and your partner will
attack simultaneuosly. I find this the most useful on 2
against 1 matches.

ZAN
Let's your partner act as a humanshield against your enemies attacks.
This is a great way to buy some time if needed.

Pretty useful aren't they? Correct use of each formation will help you
in the long run.

                     ----------------------------------------
                     -5. Finishing Team Attack -
                     ----------------------------------------

FINISHING TEAM ATTACK:
To pull off a Finishing Team Attack, press the "O" button after your
match level with a character has to be Great. Your partner will glow red
when you are able to perform a Finishing Team Attack. This will use up one
bar of your Spirit Guage.

The follwing combinations of characters are
the only ones who can perform the Finishing Team Attack: Inuyasha &
Kagome, Inuyasha & Kikyo, Inuyasha & Sesshomaru, Kagome & Kikyo, and
Sango & Miroku.

=============================
| NOTE: The order of the |
| characters do not matter |
| as long as they are the |
| combinations listed above.|

-C. THE STORY -
------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you new to Inuyasha,

In ancient Japan, there was a powerful artifact called the Shikon Jewel,
Which is also called the Jewel of Four Souls. This jewel can make
demonic powers and make demons nearlyinvincible. Once the jewel
is purified, it realeses the demonic power. The Sacred Jewel is
shattered and the shards are scatttered across the land. And now
it is up to Kagome and Inuyasha, and their friends, to recover the shards
and defeat the evil Naraku.

Pretty Cool, huh? Read the maga and watch the DVDs. This is a
pretty good anime series, and it's a must-watch.

                           ------------------------------
                           -6. The Characters -
                           ------------------------------

INUYASHA - He is one of the main characters of the popular anime series.
About 50 years ago in the Feudal Era of japan, Inuyasha was in love with
a priestess who' s name is Kikyo, but a demon called Naraku disguised
himself as Inuyasha and attacked Kikyo and stole the Shikon-jewel.
He was shot by a sacred arrow shot by Kikyo as she died.
Inuyasha has a powerful sword called Tetsaiga which was forged from
his own fathers fang and Inuyasha reforged it with his own fang
when the Tetsaiga broke. Tetsaiga can slay 100 demons with one
swing of the blade. Inuyasha wants to use Tetsaigas power to
kill Naraku once and for all. (who wouldn't wanna kill the demon that
broke them and their love apart)
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Adamant Barriage, Backlash Move, Blades of Blood,
Iron Reaver Soul Stealer, Tetsaiga Slash, Wind Scar.

KAGOME HIGURASHI - She is another one of the main characters from
the anime series. She is a 15-year old high school girl. One day,
she fell through a well at her families shrine and was taken to
the Feudal Era. She breaks the seal Kikyo bound Inuyasha with by
touching the arrow that bound him to the tree. Kagome is the
reincarnation of Kikyo and can sense the presence of any of the
Shikon-Jewel shards. If Inuyasha starts mis-behaving out Kagome
can say Sit! and the necklace around Inuyasha's neck sends him
"smack-down into the ground. She is nice to Inuyasha and is
in love with him, but they are at each others throats nearly
constantly!
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Purifying Arrow, Sacred Arrow, Spirit Power.

MIROKU - He is a young monk whose family is cursed by Naraku with
a wind tunnel in his right hand which can suck up everything around,
or in it's path. He normally covers the tunnel up with some rosary
beads to prevent the tunnel from opening. Miroku is perverted to
the core. He asks every young girl he sees to bear his kids
(Some monk, huh?).

SHIPPO - A young full-blooded fox demon that looks like a kid.
He can change his shape at anytime, completely. His mother
and father were murdered by the Thunder Brothers. Inuyasha
and his friends helped him out, by disposing of the Thunder
Brothers. Inuyasha's always bullying him and hitting him on
the head(haha).
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Fox Fire, Fox Magic, Smashing Top,
Transformation.

KIKYO - She was the the woman that Inuyasha was in love with.
An Ogress stole her ashes and resurrected her, so she could
find the shards of the Shikon-jewel. The downside was she had
no soul. Kikyo survives by using the souls of dead girls
collected by Soul Collectors. Once she learns that Naraku was
the one who killed her, she goes on her own to find and kill
Naraku!
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Purifying Arrow, Sacred Arrow, Spirit Power,
Soul Collectors.

SANGO - She is a young woman who had a family of Demon-slayers.
She's a powerful demon-slayer who uses a giant boomerang madae
of the demon Hiraikotsu. Her family was killed by a
Feudal lord's army who were being used as puppets by Naraku.
She is now fighting alongside Inuyasha looking for her
younger brother Kohaku, and to avenge the death of her family.
Sango has a two-tailed kitten named Kirara, that can transform
into a giant cat-like demon.
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Hiraikotsu, Poison Powder, Secret Sword,
Summon Kirara.

SESSHOMARU - He's Inuyasha's older brother, but a feud between
the two make them enemies. He wields two swords.
One is the Tensaiga which can heal 100 lives and is also the
sister sword of Tetsaiga. The other sword is called the Tokijin,
which was formed by the fangs of the demon Goshinki. A kappa
named Jaken who is his faithful servant, a young orphan whose
name is Rin, was saved when he used Tensaiga to revive her
body. They both travel alongside Sesshomaru.
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Dragon Strike, Poison Claws, Tensaiga, Tokijin,
Whip of Light.

KOGA - He is a rebellious leader of the Wolf-Demon tribe who
bullied other demons and killed any humans, but that changed
when Kagome came. After the Birds of Paradise were dead, Koga
says how much he loves Kagome. Kagome is just friends with Koga.
but this makes Inuyasha very mad. Koga has two jewel shards in
his legs which create a whirlwind. Koga wants to kill Naraku
for slaying almost all of his tribe. Koga travels with Ginta
and Hakkaku, who are also Wolf-Demons.
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Cyclone Dash, Shard Kick, Whirlwind Kick,
Wolf Claws.

KOHAKU - Sango's Younger brother, who was a demon-slayer.
He lost his memory once Naraku brout him back to life.
Kohaku has a Sickle and chain called Kusarigama. He is now one
of Naraku's followers.

KAGURA - She is a incarnation of Naraku. She has the power to
control the wind. Her fan can create winds of all sizes as well as
be used as a weapon. Kagura almost betrayed Naraku, but was almost
absorbed within his body. She hopes to be free of Narakus control
since he controls her heart, and that prevents any betrayal.
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Dance of Blood, Dance of the Dead,
Dance of the Dragon, Fan Throw, Feather Flight.

NARAKU - He is the evil mastermind of the entire series.
He was once a bandit called Onigumo, and he was fatally
wounded until Kikyo, the priestess healed him. Thousands of
demons swarmed his body and that's how he(Naraku) was formed.
Everyone, human or demon, hopes to finally destroy Naraku for
good. When Naraku was almost dying, he went to use the power
of Mt. Hakurei to make his body into a more powerful entity.
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Miasma, Miasma Cover, Poison Isects,
Tentacles, Teleportation.

BANKOTSU -
He is the leader of a group of mercenaries called the
Band of Seven he carries a giant halberd named Banryu
that weighs very heavy. It takes the strength of three
supermen to lift the halberd few feet off the ground.
Bankotsu and his brothers were resurrected by Naraku,
purpose of protecting him while he regenerates.
Each member of the Band of Seven were decapitated in
life by an army. Bankotsu has no fear and no remorse in
life or a specter. Bankotsu was destroyed by Inuyashas
Backlash Wave using the demonic aura around the Banryu.
SPECIAL ATTACKS - Banryu Slash, Dragon Hammer, Dragon Thunder.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

*ANCIENT TEMPLE*
A Buddhist Temple that is infested with demons. There is a centipede like
demon that lurks around the temple

*BLACK PEARL*
The Temple of the Black Pearl is the resting place
of Inuyasha's father. That was the place where Tetsaiga was dormant.
Inuyasha gained Tetsaiga and cut off Sesshomarus left arm.

*NARAKU'S CASTLE*
As the name suggets, this is Naraku's Castle

*GRASSLANDS*
This is a basic background for the game, with hills and grassy meadows
surrounding the area.

*MANOR RUINS*
This was once home to a village that
 was destroyed in a battle.

*MYSTIC FOREST*
This forest is covered by trees, and this is the place where 50
years ago, Kikyo sealed Inuyasha to a tree with her Sacred Arrow.

*ROCKY AREA*
Not much to say about this riverside cliff except it has
a waterfall. This is a place where villagers gather water from the river.

This section will give you a detailed explanation of the options menu:

------
*GAME*
------

Allows you to change the difficulty setting from Easy, Normal, and Hard.

*Easy*

For people who want to breeze through the game.
This is the difficulty I recommend for beginners. Although,
you could just practice in practice mode or againsnt
your friends to get better acquainted with the controls.

*Normal*

This is the standard difficulty setting.
This mode is not too easy and not too hard.
This is the mode I reccommend for those who
have played the game, before. Or those who have
played fighting games before.

*Hard*

For those who want a real challenge. The CPU is
experienced and is faster than normal. Recommended
for experienced players who have beaten the game or are
very experienced with fighting games.

---------------
*SOUND SETTING*

*Music Volume*

Change the background music volume from No Sound, Soft, Medium, and
Loud. *Note The default volume setting is Loud.*

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
______________________________________________________
7. INUYASHA'S CHAPTER: |
______________________________________________________|

Watch the scene and let the battles begin!

*FIRST BATTLE*
Opponent - Koga
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Kagome

This battle is pretty easy, just combo him to death and you'll do just
fine The "KA", formation does wonders here.

*SECOND BATTLE*
Opponent - Miroku
Opponent's Partner - Sango
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps -None
Players Partner - Kagome

This battle is pretty easy, too. Just use some combos and the "RIN"
formation and you should be just fine.

*THIRD BATTLE*
Opponent - Kagura
Opponent's Partner - Kohaku
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Kagome

This battle is relatively hard, use Strong Attacks and watch out for
her wind attacks.

There are two ways you should go about this battle.
The first one is to use the "RIN" formation to have Kagome keep
Kohaku under control while you take on Kagura

Second, would be to use the "ZA" formation to have Kagome act as
a shield, and focus your best attacks on Kagura.

*FOURTH BATTLE*
Opponent - Kikyo
Opponent's Partner - None
Payer Handicaps - Inuyasha is in Human Form
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

Despite the fact that your fighting alone and Inuyasha is in Human
Form, this battle is relatively easy. Just guard when you need to,
and use Strong Attacks and Combos.

*FIFTH BATTLE*
Opponent - Sesshomaru
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Kagome

This battle is hard with Sesshomaru himself, but to make matters
worse there is a poisonous miasma that will drain you and your
partners HP. Your best bet is to use the "KA" or "FUU" formation.
Use your best Combos and Strong Attacks until Sesshomaru is defeated.
Dont forget to use your Special Attack if you have enough spirit
power. If the Miasma spreads through the air, move away from the
infected area until it dissapears.

*FINAL BATTLE*
Opponent - Naraku
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Kagome

I would go about this battle the same as you did with Sesshomaru.
Except, do not use the "FUU" formation, use either the "KA" or
"ZA" formation. Use the "ZA" formation when Naraku's insects release
the poisonous miasma, and your trying to get away, to help prevent Naraku
from doing critical damage while your trying to get away.

Another thing to be aware of is that sometimes Naraku will use a barrier
to shield him from your attacks. If he does(which I'm sure he will),
If you have enough Spirit Power, stop for a few
seconds and use a Special Attack, if not, just try to break it by
using combos.

Watch the ending, and after the credits you'll receive
Miroku/Sango's Chapter.

______________________________________________________
8. MIROKU/SANGO'S CHAPTER: |
______________________________________________________|
Watch the scene. Before the battle stsrts you are prompted
to select a character to use in the battle. Miroku or Sango.

*FIRST BATTLE*
Opponent - Inuyasha
Opponent's Partner - Koga
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Miroku or Sango

The best way to handle this battle is to use the "KA" formation,
 and combo him to death.

If Koga starts to become a problem and gets in the way, use a Special
Attack to stop his attack.

*SECOND BATTLE*
Opponent - Miroku
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps -None
Players Partner - Kagome

In this battle you have no choice but to play as Sango.
Use the "KA" formation to have you and your partner constantly
attak him and unleash combos until he's defeated.

If Miroku, tries to guard, stop attacking and use a Special Attack.

*THIRD BATTLE*
Opponent - Kagura
Opponent's Partner - Kohaku
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Miroku or Sango

Again, before the battle starts you get to choose either Miroku or
Sango.

Since your opponent has powerful attacks, I reccommend you use the
'RIN" or "ZAN" Formation to either have your partner attack Kohaku
and you take Kagura, or have your partner act as a shield to guard
against your enemies attacks.

Combo them to Death.

*FOURTH BATTLE*
Opponent - Sesshomaru
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Miroku or Sango

Go about this battle the same as you did when you fought
Miroku, However, in this battle unleash everything! Use a Special
Attack anytime you need to.

*FIFTH BATTLE*
Opponent - Naraku
Opponent's Partner - Kohaku
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Miroku or Sango

This battle is freakin' HARD! Not just because of the poisonous miasma, but
unlike Inuyasha's Chapter, Kouhaku is his partner this time around.

If Naraku spreads his poisonous miasma, just run away and use the "ZAN"
formation to shield their attacks while you run for cover.

As for the offensive unleash everything, and I mean everything!
From combos, to special attacks, use your Special Attack whenever he puts
up his shield, and use the "RIN" formation to have you both attack different
targets.

*FINAL BATTLE*
Opponent - Naraku
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Miroku or Sango

Go about this one the same as the last battle, except forget about the
"RIN" formation and use the "KA" formation.

After the scene and the credits roll you will unlock "Sesshomaru's Chapter".

9. SESSHOMARU'S CHAPTER: |
______________________________________________________|
Watch The Scenes and let the battles begin, once again!

*FIRST BATTLE*
Opponent - Koga
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

There are a few things you need to remember about Koga: 1. Never attack him
right after getting up from the ground after he deals a massive combo.
2. Use your Special Attack if you have enough Spirit Power, and only use it
when he is about to attack, because if he is just standing there, he will
evade your attack.

*SECOND BATTLE*
Opponent - Kikyo
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

Pretty Straight forward, when you are in close range and she is about to
attack use your special attack or use a combo. When she is getting up from
your attack Move Behind her or jump away because she will retaliate with
a combo. Never try to use a Special Attack when she is getting up, because
your attack will miss and leave you vulnerable for an attack.

If you are far away from her and she is fireing arrows at you, either
guard or try to block the arrow with an attack.

*THIRD BATTLE*
Opponent - Naraku
Opponent's Partner - Kohaku
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - Kagura

This battle will definitely be a challenge. Alternate between formations
to fit the situation, but the only formation I wouldn't reccommend you
using is the "KA" formation. If Naraku uses the Poisonous Miasma, move
away and try to attack when the miasma isn't there. If he uses his barrier
break his guard and unleash a combo and finish with a Special Attack.

Use some combos and you should be fine.

*FOURTH BATTLE*
Opponent - Inuyasha
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

Go about this battle the same way as the battle against Koga.
But if he starts to use his Wind Scar be sure to either move away or if
you are standing in front of him or behind him to unleash a combo.

*FINAL BATTLE*
Opponent - Demon Form Inuyasha
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

This battle was actually easier for me than the last two. His moves are
pretty predictable and the best way to go about this battle is if he is
getting up from a combo you unleashed on him then use your Special
Attack aganst him cuase he is vulnerable because he will rise up
with a counter attack.

Also, keep in mind that if he starts to guard always try to break it
cause he will be left completely vulnerable.

Another Way to beat Demon Inuyasha with Sesshomaru that I have found
if you are having trouble is to run around the miasma which will cause
Inuyasha to walk through it. Keep doing this the entire match and he
should have less HP than you once the timer runs out in a minute.

After the credits you will unlock Shippo's Chapter.

______________________________________________________
10. SHIPPOH'S CHAPTER: |
______________________________________________________|

*FIRST BATTLE*
Opponent - Inuyasha
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

The best way to go about this battle is to jump up in the air and use the
Transformation move by pressing X + the direction you want to attacxk
towards which should knock Inuyasha flat on the ground. And when he gets
up, do it again. Keep doing this until you win.

*SECOND BATTLE*
Opponent - Koga
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

Go about this pretty much the same as the last battle, except when you
knock Koga to the ground, If possible, start your Special Attack right
away. This is really the only effective time to use your Special Attack.

*FINAL BATTLE*
Opponent - Sesshomaru
Opponent's Partner - None
Player Handicaps - None
Opponents Handicaps - None
Players Partner - None

Alright. Whenever Sesshomaru is in close range use a combo, or try to use
Fox Fire. Also keep in mind that transformation isn't really effective
here, so to replace it, whenever he says, "Let's see if you can handle
this", use your Special Attack if possible cuz this is the only time it's
effective, and if you can't use your special attack, unleash a combo
instead.

Well, there's all the stories. Now that you have completed them, I
reccommend trying to beat them using a higher difficulty or play against
your friends in Battle Mode, or you can try and unlock the 4 hidden
characters by playing each story without losing once to unlock them.
Mission Mode allows you to take part in some fun tactical missions and
adds a some more playing time.

-H. MISSION MODE -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission Mode puts you through variuos missions that you must complete. The
first thing you do is select which mission data you would like to play.
There are a total of 50 Mission data each with different scenarios you
must clear to complete the Mission. Once you've chosen the Mission data
you would like to play, you must choose what character you would like to
use and your partner. After that you will see a map with large dots
representing scenarios on it. Once you have cleared all the scenarios you
have cleared the Mission Data.

Below is the list of all 50 Mission Data and the scenarios. Below I will
give you strategies for each Scenario:

----------------
| DATA 01 |
----------------
Characters I used for this Data: Inuyasha & Kagome

ANCIENT TEMPLE:
Lvl 1
Mission Info: Defeat the Centipede Demon without a partner.
Time Limit: 15 seconds
Enemies: Centipede Demon.

Alright, the trick to this one is to strike the Centipede on it's side.
Just wait for it to come out of one of it's holes, and then strike it on
it's side 3 times to complete it.

Lvl 2
Mission Info: Defeat the Centipede Demon while battling enemies.
Time Limit: 30 seconds
Enemies: Centipede Demon, Kohaku.

Use the "ZAN" formation so your partner will act as a sheild against
Kohaku's Attacks and strike the Centipede Demon 3 times.

Lvl 3
Mission Info: Defeat the opponent without being hit by the Centipede Demon.
Time Limit: 60 seconds
Enemies: Centipede Demon, Sesshomaru.

This one is a little different then the last 2 levels. Simply because you
have to defeat Sesshomaru instead of the Centipede. Rotate between the "KA"
and "FUU" formation to keep the combos going and smother your opponent with
combos. Get Sesshomaru trapped in an area where the Centipede Demon doesn't
come out, and unleash hell on him!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Practice Mode is the ideal place to practice your techniques against the
computer. Use this mode to brush up on your techniques before playing Story
Mode. Like Battle Mode, you choose whether you want to battle "with or
without" a partner.
